I liked your introduction, only petite women can understand what ''cute'' means to them, it has a hint of contempt in it, if there is a lack of strong personality, if you know what I mean.
"You're so cute" "sooo pretty (tender look)" "you're too young to do that, or to talk about that topic"... How do we explain to people that being less than 5"4, 5" doesn't mean that you are not a WOMAN. Thank you so much for this, such an inspiration.
Thank you for these videos! I’m 25 years old, 5’1” and have a baby face and often people think I’m 18 or even in high school. Could you do a video on how to look older in casual outfits/athletic wear? I’m a dance teacher so there’s no reason for me to dress sophisticated, wear heels/jewelry/perfume unless I’m going out. I ask because sometimes I blend in with my high school students!
I feel this, Lara! I taught dance for many years too- mostly circus, which meant that I was rarely able to even wear jewelry. I’m 30 now and people still ask me what I’m studying in school. 🤦🏼♀️
I’m 4”11, 21 years old so I’m at the perfect age to be taking this kind of advice! I’ve learnt so much from you. Thanks for all of your content! Also nice to see Zack too hehe, shout out to him!
@@bethanyleonardo great video. What do you think of t-shirts but more particularly graphic t-shirts? Do you think there’s a big difference between a solid color tee and a graphic one? What does seeing a person wearing a graphic tee make you think?
Thank you SO much for speaking about this, I’m 27 and I got asked if I was 13 the other day. It is so hard to be taken seriously especially at work. Thank you for the support ❤️
Omg I feel so seen! I’m always called things like small, petite, little, young-looking, and everyone is like “it’s a compliment” I’m definitely trying these tips
Now, at 29, I still get the same comments about how cute, how adorable I am for such a "young" age( the same comments from 11 years ago, when I was 18 years old) . They still ask to talk to my boss, they still say I'll understand when I grow up. I have the same height since I was 11 years old. The worst part for me, it's with men, I like older man, but only attract younger (18~21 year olds) or creepy old guys that go away the minute I say my real age. Waiting for my 30s now, let's see if people at least think I'm 25🙌🏻
Going through this now and lierally having a hard time because I also want to wear girly outfits, but I'm currently changing up my wardrobe by buying myself some classic pieces 😅
I’m a healthy 60 year old, 5’2 and 108 lbs. All my life I’ve been underestimated and called cute. It’s sad that I’ve had to overcompensate in too many ways to list. I love your channel because you address challenges of petites. Thank you.
Omg I needed this. I'm 23 and everyone thinks I'm still in high school because my face is very round and child like and I'm 5'3. I've been trying to dress more sophisticated. I want to be beautiful and sophisticated, not "adorable" or "cute." I am also a pilot so being in a male dominated industry I feel demeaned at times as a small "cute" woman.
These are all great tips! When I was promoted at my job at age 19 (while most of my coworkers were in their 40s or older), I always “overdressed” so I would be taken seriously by both coworkers and clients. And It worked! But my best tip is to be smart! Be knowledgeable, punctual polite, know how to remain calm, and you will always be told “You’re so mature for your age!”

Are you ever planning to film a closet tour? I would love to see what you have collected over the years, which pieces are your absolute favorites and why.
Thank you for this great video :D I'm 31 and most people think I'm in my early twenties. In personal life, I'm flattered when someone says I look younger than I am. But when you look young in professional life you're considered more of a trainee and often not taken very seriously. Right now I am changing careers. These tips are gold!
If I had a dollar for every time I was asked, "How old are you?" I would have enough money to pay my professional school tuition in full. 😅 You are a godsend, Bethany. I would love to see a video about your favorite fragrances and the occasions you would wear them.
Same! It starts to feel like a rude question after a while. For some reason I ALWAYS get asked how old I am by men (I’m not even talking about dating- I get it often when I’m meeting someone new for the first time in a casual/networking setting, despite my age not usually being relevant to the conversation. But men in particular always seem curious about the age thing.)
Yes!! I feel this so much. I’m a 5’4 Asian girl and I literally still look 18 even though I’m in my 20s. I hate being called cute because it’s so infantilizing and patronizing
I love these videos, they’re the only ones I’ve seen about how to look older than you are. As a 26 year old HR professional who happens to be 5 foot with a baby face, these are very valuable tips!
I don’t usually comment, but I truly appreciate these types of videos! ❤️ I’m 22 years old and 4”9... not only is it hard to find clothes that fit properly but I often feel like I’m not taken seriously as I look like a teen. People always think I’m 16 or 17 and even though I’ve gotten used to the way I am built, it often becomes a confidence issue at a place of work. I think apart from being called adorable, the worst thing you could do to someone on the shorter side is physically lean on them to rest while you’re standing .... 🤦♀️
I hear you, Bethany! Sometimes, I feel like I can’t win with my style - I’ve overhauled my wardrobe this year in a major way, going for more sophisticated pieces. The last time I saw one of my friends, I was wearing a form-fitting 3/4 sleeve white shirt with gold jewelry, straight leg high-rise jeans, and black boots. But my friend - who is used to seeing me in more revealing, edgy athletic wear because I also dance - made a comment about my “mom jeans” (despite the fact that he also acknowledged that my butt looks amazing in them!). Because I get the cute comments all the time due to how young I look and how short I am, I’ve compensated in the past by dressing sexier - but not necessarily sexier in a high-end way. I’m trying to strike a balance now, leaning more towards a romantic look in how I dress while still trying to keep that sexy edge that I love and have been comfortable with in the past (and while also not attracting too much of the wrong kind of attention). It’s definitely a challenge to find that balance!
The struggle is real, i'm 5'0, 25 but babyfaced so people often think i'm between 16-18....so i usually get called cute, its a compliment but also frustrating! I want to feel like the woman i am, thanks for the video. Great tips.
It’s crazy how some people still react weirdly surprised when I talk about a more sophisticated topic because some just don’t expect a short, young looking girl to actually be grown up and a normal woman just as any other

Im 20 years old and 5"3 on a tall day! I understand the struggle i try to do most of these just to look a bit more mature. However some days i do feel like enjoying my petite and young looking self😌❣
These tips are just gold, on occasion I have been treated with some let's say "paternalism/condescension" and I see how following all of these tips helps prevent that! And ohmygosh 😅 for the record if I've ever commented your outfit looked super cute I never meant that kind of "cute" like a little girl, rather meant that you looked really good. English is not my first language... cute actually translates to "giro" and giro means something looks awesome. I would never say cute in a tone that I myself would not enjoy being addressed in and moreover you're an absolute style idol for me!
I've been called "cute" all my life. At the of 56, I'll take that over "old bag" any day! Anyway, I love your content. It's very informative, you never talk down to people, and I like that you often include links for more affordable options. 😀KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

I watch your videos to get some positive vibes... I wish i could be as confident as you and present myself effortlessly but because of my height, i feel so low at times and this topic has definitely taken a toll on my mental health
Great tips, thank you! I'm almost 35 but people always assume I'm just out of college. I'm not petite but I have curly hair which doesn't help. The biggest hurdle is that I'm a consultant (own my business) and I'm insecure getting on camera because people take me less seriously and the curly hair just looks messy (always looks better in person of course.. lol). I'll try some of these tips and see if it works.
I would have LOVED this advice ten or twelve years ago. 💗 Now that I have five children, people take me very seriously. 😂 Even so, I’m always working on my sophistication, so I thoroughly enjoyed this video. 👌

You are my favorite when it comes to youtubers. I have learned a lot from you since 2018. Thank you for being there and teaching us such things.
Im 20 years old and 5"3 on a tall day! I understand the struggle i try to do most of these just to look a bit more mature. However some days i do feel like enjoying my petite and young looking self😌❣
Just the jewelry I’ve been looking for, just purchased a ring and a bangle can’t wait for it to arrive!
No worries at all! Much love, friend 💛
Wow thank you! Coming into the business world after college this will help!
I LOVE YOUR HOUSE ITS SO PRETTY!!
I want to be an architect and this is like my dream house
Ok, ok! I'm going to call it out...no holding back..lol! Bethany is the best dress lady on you-tube imo... LOVE!!!
hi Bethany thank you so much for sharing these cool ideas. always loved your calming voice.❣️
Bethany’s fashion ideas always inspires me! Thank you so much! ✌🏼🤍
Been following you since your 100k days and I’ve loved seeing your style and video evolution!
I am totally buying that heirloom ring! It’s the perfect class and fashion ring that I’ve been looking for. Thanks for another great video :)
Thanks so much Bethany for creating inspiring content and sharing that in a manner that's relatable and engaging.
I've been called "cute" all my life. At the of 56, I'll take that over "old bag" any day! Anyway, I love your content. It's very informative, you never talk down to people, and I like that you often include links for more affordable options. 😀KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
Petite gang 🤘
How are you doing today Lena Perez? It’s really nice having you on here. I saw your profile on here and i think we definitely are on the same page on many levels. Trust, communication, loving, God fearing, honoring, understanding, patience and respecting your partner. So crucial to provide balance. This is what creates such great chemistry between two people that are committed to one another.
I really love this channel. Petite women can relate to.
omg... look at Zack 😍😍
I love your style! We have similar measurements (I'm also pear-shaped) so your advices always SLAP 😜
I liked it alot, thank you so much 😊 this made me confident. I really love your jewellery collection.
Hi Bethany, I'm your new subscriber and I must say you are so soft spoken 💕I loved the way you put everything down in points and you’re so elegant and sophisticated looking 😊thank you for this great video 👍🏻
Thank you Bethany! I always feel inspired after watching your videos!
I watch your videos to get some positive vibes... I wish i could be as confident as you and present myself effortlessly but because of my height, i feel so low at times and this topic has definitely taken a toll on my mental health
This is helpful i totally enjoy watching your videos. Thanks
You read my mind as always, Bethany! x
I needed this!
I was just thinking about n you gave me such wonderful ideas💜💜
Awesomeeeeee!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Would love to see a vlog!😁😁😁😁
Great tips, thank you! I'm almost 35 but people always assume I'm just out of college. I'm not petite but I have curly hair which doesn't help. The biggest hurdle is that I'm a consultant (own my business) and I'm insecure getting on camera because people take me less seriously and the curly hair just looks messy (always looks better in person of course.. lol). I'll try some of these tips and see if it works.
So many great tips. Thank you for helping us lol.
I would have LOVED this advice ten or twelve years ago. 💗 Now that I have five children, people take me very seriously. 😂 Even so, I’m always working on my sophistication, so I thoroughly enjoyed this video. 👌
I dont mind looking younger but your videos have so much quality and I watch them anyways..🤣 love the tips and I will defo include some of them on my style too!💕
Love all your tips!
I just wanted to thank you for the Rouje discount code😘✨With it a dress came so close to my budget that I just had to get it -and I’m super glad😊🌟🌸✌️!
I’m 65 and so enjoy your channel. Being called “cute” can be a remark made by younger folks to us older ones as well . I find it condescending and patronizing.
Loving your style. It gives an idea on what to wear for work. Love from Canada :-)
Great tips. Love your style. Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing.
Woah I never thought so many people had the same situation as me. Looking way younger then they are.

So smart 🙌🏼 merci !
I’m not petite, but I have serious baby face. It’s been such a source of frustration
Literally loved it ❤️❤️
