Applaud your stance on logos. To me they are tacky - especially when purchased in a cheap knockoff (handbag). To me they speak volumes about one's insecurity. It's well documented the celebrities who flaunt them are paid to so ... what is anyone aspiring to? 😂😂

Would you ever consider doing a video about tailoring? I always feel intimidated about going to tailor. Maybe about different things you can ask for, etc? Or if anyone in the comments has a recommendation on an existing vid! :)

I personally have the Tip 8: take good care of each piece to make it last longer. Sometimes good pieces won’t last long only because we wash them wrong or didn’t take good care of them.

Agree 100% on logos. Also, I dress in about 95% timeless, classic clothing. I don't invest in trends because they change too often and I'd rather spend more money on a suit, pants, a blouse, a coat that I know will last a long time and looks good on me. Now, if I could just stop going up and down on the scale...
I have been buying more expensive classic pieces. And I usually can buy 1 item at a time but it works and I now have several nice things I enjoy wearing. And even enjoy shopping second hand. I snagged a nice vintage leopard coat and love it so much.
I think it’s important to also mention that good pieces will last and that there are many places that offer fine, vintage clothing for discounted prices. Having returned to school and for now, living on a tight budget, this has allowed me to still feel fashionable and put together. I agree with you also on the logo issue; it dates you whereas many of the same brands do lovely non, miniscule, or very faint logos that are timeless. I think everyone goes through the I need a brand phase; fashion is so much fun, but you learn what works for you as you get older. It just adds to the delight of being a unique woman.

What makes me like your channel is that you look humble but pretty and classy at the same time without overdress or makeup.
I also think you should make videos about hairstyle (I like your hair).
The only Chanel I love to watch and get excited about. It’s so simple and straight to the point. And it’s so soothing to listen to you. You show that we don’t need designer things to look good and feel good. And how to be simple yet very elegant. And I think it helps us girl a lot. Lots of love ♥️

What is really refreshing is that you’re not over the top with how you present information.
Honestly I can relate as a tall high waisted person with long legs. The only things bought new that fit me are very expensive because I have a "model" type body. I have found that op shopping and vintage shopping have a better yield with better quality.
I'm taking a trip to Europe in May and would love a capsule video of outfits for a 14 day trip! I'm slowing building my Elizabeth Suzann, Everlane, etc, pieces from your videos. And having trouble still on not over thinking and over packing. Thank you!

89DoraH: I always request exactly what I want done. Nothing wrong with hearing a tailor's input but if they are trying to tell you what is stylish and what is not then I'd find a new tailor. :)

I've been looking for a good deal when it comes to clothes all my life, always going for the cheapest available. This channel has definitely changed my view and while it is hard, I'm trying to transition into buying fewer and better quality clothes even if they're more expensive.
Your channel is amazing because not only do you offer such great advice, but it is so refreshing how much you truly seem to care about your viewers in a way that's different than what I see on most channels. You don't just seem grateful for the support of your viewers, but you seem to really, genuinely care about them finding happiness through the expression of their own unique style. Your channel speaks to me a lot as someone who is just figuring out what style is really and your videos help so much with simple things I'd never think about, like just tucking in certain kinds of shirts and how to wear jeans better. Thank you so much, I get compliments almost daily now.

Great advice. I’ve found over the past few weeks that I want a very timeless classic look and to be able to work out of a capsule. I easily came up with my color scheme and was excited but then I felt bored with it. That is, until I spent some time reconnecting with my favorite music and realized I wasn’t just a classic style sort of person. I also LOVE edgy rocker looks like a leather jacket, black stilleto nails, cat eye eyeliner and vampy lipstick. With those extras in mind I think I’ve definitely found my true style. And even though society isn’t always going to see what I like as “trendy” the combinations I’ve created feel so ME! And that’s the best feeling.
I have watched a lot of TH-camrs trying to explain the same things that you teach on your page, but none of them could specify and make me understand the real idea. I am glad I stumbled upon your videos. You have inspired me to find my own style and now I understand how to style what better than before ❤
Great content here Bethany. As I’ve gotten older I’ve started focusing on cuts and quality and creativity instead of loud logos.

I’m 5’1 too and my mom is my tailor now. I used to go to other people but it’s free for me now. Makes all the difference in the world.
That trick about buying a pair of trousers one size up then having them tailored has been my modus operandi for years. Another style bugaboo is the gloriously well-fitting blazer-of-your-dreams... With TOO LONG SLEEVES‼️Whooshhh... Off to the tailor we go‼️

I really enjoyed the photo examples as you were explaining. I think once you get the idea of buying really well made pieces, and you take care of them .. they are an investment of a life time. I really appreciate your videos. Im a 10 US size and some of your fashion inspires me. Unfortunately in my country people follow trends but i always dress according to my tastes and likings(vintage) . Its true that one should dress not to impress society but for your self confidence and comfort.
These days am going through a difficult moments where people tend to give me this alienated look with the way i dress .

So i watched a ton of your videos yesterday. Today I bought a black trench coat, black crop hoodie, and black joggers. Thanks for all the advice. You actually made it easier to style things. I moved to Southern Cali and in my 30's now. I always felt weird wearing black here and and boho stuff I have bought here just doesn't my tatse. I love the edge sophisticated look. I feel like people on Europe are not over the top with their style like Americans. Here (Germany) people dress more simple. Only few girls wear heels and have flashy outfits :)

for mixing textures, here are my top combis:
1. leather skirt + silk/chiffon top
2. leather pants + velvet cami
3. cotton tee + chiffon/crepe/velvet skirt
4. linen + chiffon/silk

Great tips! Thanks. Just a note: in the 50's/60's women's wear was sized to a woman's 12. If you wanted a piece you would purchase the 12 and take it to your dress maker for the final fit. Dieting was to keep from getting bigger than a 12. Also, most models take a size 8.

I'm 4'11" and almost 30, and i work on a university. I get a lot of comments that i look way younger than I do. on my efforts of changing my wardrobe, i found om your channel and it is totally a huge help! i LOVE your sese of fashion. the only catch is, i live in a lovely tropical country where summer is half a year. i would love to use trench coats but not too much. but other than that, i love your tips and your content! ❤️ it helped me a lot while finding my style.

I've been wearing hippy chic since the 70's. I incorporate my own style in some more modern pieces. I have some exquisite high end silk pieces that still have that slightly hippy chic that I love. Even in my early teens in the 70's I'd save up and purchase expensive clothing some of which I still have and are completely wearable.

It's true about the logos being a box that you check... I found myself doing that one or twice and I had to check myself.

If it's hot wear some medium high heels (maybe sandals) and if it's cold like thigh high boots might look cute with a long coat

This was a great watch for me. I especially want to curate a wardrobe with a colour scheme I love this year as well as wear more timeless pieces.
