    I'm an indian who's not used to winter wear cuz the weather s always warm, and I've been relying on your videos so much because I've come to England for the first time in my life. Just wanted to say thanks so much, I love your style, general vibe and your videos. Appreciate it a lot. keep going! :)

      Welcome to England! It can get very cold during the winter months; even more so in the north and into Scotland but we do have milder days too. I hope you enjoy your stay here.

      She lives in southern US though so most of her clothes may not be warm enough for you as it doesn't get too cold over there. Layer up more. Stay warm!

    • @Teverell
      @Teverell 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Layers will be your best friend in the colder weather. A turtleneck under a cashmere jumper for instance, and if you're really cold, you can add a chunkier knit over the top.
      Buy a couple of pairs of thermal leggings (you might want them even if it doesn't get cold enough to snow). They'll fit under pretty much any type of trousers without adding bulk. I'd recommend corduroy trousers rather than jeans for something a little warmer, too, or smart trousers in a wool blend if your style is smarter rather than more casual.
      I hope you enjoy your time in England!

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just to add that I agree with Teverell. Cotton knit long-sleeved turtleneck tops will be a wonderful first layer under jumpers (or "sweaters" for Americans). You'll probably need at least two thick wool jumpers to wear over the turtlenecks. Some thinner wool jumpers, or thick cotton jumpers, too. You'll feel the cold more than other people who have lived there for a long time, so be aware that you will probably have to dress more warmly than your neighbors. Long-sleeved crew-neck or v- neck t-shirts will provide good layers under jumpers for very cold weather if you don't always want or need turtlenecks. I like cotton under my jumpers because wool irritates my skin; they make similar things in silk knit, but silk doesn't protect me from the wool or keep me as warm. Make sure that you have a warm coat, hats, gloves, and scarves. You will probably want more than one pair of gloves because England is very wet, and cold, wet gloves are unpleasant.

    I have always been a ‘bargain shopper’ and never sought designer brands, simply because I have learned how to achieve the polished look on a budget! The compliments I have received over the years tell me it’s not just my perception saying so! Yes, taking good care of the garments is the key which involves learning about the various material types, looking at clothing labels for those materials that hold up well with washing and drying or whether they need ironing or should be air dried. It’s easy & it’s smart. Not only can you look and feel great on a budget but you can also have funds set aside for emergency savings & investments.

    A little sparkle definitely adds a bit of glow up✨✨✨Sometimes in the dreary weather I live, I wear a lot of “practical” dreary neutrals and I add a pop of bright accessories or shoes to make me happy.💃🏻💖

    I was just thinking this week of breaking out the sparkle. To me it suits winter so well. I often put a vintage pin on my winter hats, even the simple ones, to brighten my face even outdoors and bundled up. Thank You, Gramma, for saving all your costume pieces, and thank you, Audrey, for some very helpful tips for chic. It's so good to know how to make even everyday outfits chic. Sunday coffee with you is the best.

      I so wish my daughter had appreciated the many antique jewery pieces I gave her that had been my mothers and grandmothers.She got into minimalism early and just chucked everything I had given her, donated to Goodwill etc...expensive antique furniture went first, then crystal stemware, real silver pieces, and finally the antique jewelry..some costume but some REAL. Such a shame and now her teen daughter will have nothing worth inheriting from a house full of oldish Ikea purchases etc, sigh.

    Matching the undertone of clothes and jewelry is so true. I‘m a cool type and silver suits me the best but sometimes I want gold, because it’s so in harmony with some warmer tones. I wear the most cool tones, but sometimes I wear some neutral or warmer tones to freshing all up, so 90/10 % 😉 Oh and black is such a nice „color“, you could wear it with gold or silver, it always match 🤩

    Audrey, I very much enjoy the content here, as always with your channel. I would like to weigh in, however, on the issue of wearing the proper metals in jewelry with the undertones of your outfit. I would love to know how you feel about one’s personal “seasonal” coloring. I had mine done several years ago and it was life changing; from what colors and hues I should be purchasing to whether I should be wearing silver or gold jewelry pieces. I believe this is an integral component to your entire “look.” Great topic…great presentation!

    That blush tip sounds innovative. I'll be trying it soon, despite slight apprehensions I have, because my face is already wide, and using uniformity horizontally may be contrary to what I'm looking for. But I'll give it a shot & tell you how it went.
    Also, please, pretty please, can you tell us what we wide-toed girls can wear in place of close-toed shoes? These pinch the life out of my feet, ans thus, of my body! And no amount of compliments seems to be worth it. But hey, I want to look put together and elegant too!

    Dear Audrey, I absolutely adore your style and sense of fashion and beauty. Lately, I have been feeling very frustrated with fashion at the story I frequent like madewell, J.crew, and nordstrom. I just can't find basic pieces or clothing that says style and comfort. The clothes are either too immature, wrong fit, or low quality. There was a time I went into these stores and wanted one of each, but recently I leave with a frown on my face.I found quality has really gone down. These stores are the most popular stores in the mall and I can't afford anything designer. I often watch videos like your or others like use less and can't figure out where you ladies shop. Feeling frustrated.

      I feel your frustration. I used to love shopping but it's become so irritating. It's become so difficult to find quality pieces - particularly basics - at any price point, let alone within my budget. I used to sew a lot of my own clothes ~10 yeas ago and I recently decided to return to that as it's less time to sew something from scratch than the time I spend fruitlessly searching for clothes!

    Hi Audrey, thanks for your videos, I have always enjoyed them. This is my first time commenting and I felt that you will be the best person to answer this odd question... From the front my body looks fine, hourglass shape; but from my side, I have an awful hunch back and generally look really thick(?) on the shoulder and arm level. I am working hard on the diet and exercise, but it seems to be just my build. This makes pictures look awful when I am sitting on the side. Do you have any styling tips for that? I hope I explain myself properly, and grateful for your thoughts x

    That's crazy how I always have the impression that you're maybe 175-179cm and then remember that no, you're 160cm. ^^

    I love your crop cardigan n tank set. Where did u purchase? Im trying to be more intentional in my purchases to create a cohesive wardrobe on a budget. Thank you for your blush /lipstick tip! I have a platinum cross necklace that I never remove. Can I mix my necklace with a gold one when I want to wear gold ? Thank you for you channel!

      I love mixing metals and if you feel they clash a little, try adding some sparkle :) it diffuses them difference and helps everything blend. My cardi set is old from Zara ❤️

    You're my favorite influencer. I buy 3 wardrobe items each season. I've binged your channel & kept your advice in mind. However, I still messed up & bought 2 things this yr which aren't working. Does this ever happen to you? Anyway, I'm going to try & sell my wrong shoes & see if I can recoup my investment. I was just wondering what you do if a purchase doesn't work & you cannot return it. You're so knowledgeable, a joy to watch. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving. 😊

      Hi Annette, I am a fan of Audrey like you and I definitely make wardrobe purchase mistakes! I am fortunate that in my community, there is a volunteer run thrift shop. All the profits from the shop go to support an excellent, inpatient program for children and families struggling with mental health issues. This shop can generate as much as $75,000 per year. I can feel good that my mistakes are helping to support such a good cause. I make purchases at the thrift shop as well. Is there an organization like this in your area? I make my donations twice a year with the clothing season. Hope this is helpful..
