    Which iron do you struggle most with, long iron or short iron and why do you think this is?

    • @crazytrumpeter
      @crazytrumpeter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Gotta be the long irons, not the case from now on. Which numbers are the long irons, and which are the short irons? Is 7-iron the longest short iron?

    • @mh_golfer
      @mh_golfer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Should the release of a driver be more similar to that of long irons? I tend to release all my clubs more like what you have shown for short irons.

      So what irons is classed as long/short. I would say 8i - wedge short. This would mean 7i to release club like Tiger? Is that correct? Also same for driver? Thanks 👍🏼

    You guys are brilliant coaches to say the least. I have followed you for two years straight. Yes l am still a HCP 24, doing between 100-111 net on stroke play or 21-29 Stableford every weekend. Mid-week l play 9 holes and range between 46 - 51 stroke play net. My mid-game needs a lot of work and slowly l am improving as l watch some key things like smart play tactics on your channel. On driving, l watched your vids loyally including the one with Dustin (what a player 👌), and since then l have managed on a regular to hit 250-301 drives fairway regulation. Please keep on keeping brothers. Stay blessed.

    This is an important video to watch for all weekend golfers. Many teachers say to swing all of your irons the same, but I've always felt there was a major difference between long and short irons but I could never put my finger on it, this proves my theory and explains a lot.

    Viewed this video a few weeks ago and always set up my ball in the center of my stance for iron shots. Hitting the greens was a problem always ended missing by 30 yds. First time out over a 9 hole practice I saw a significant improvement with 4 pars. Today I shot 4 over par on 9 holes including 2 birdies and one double bogey which was a driver error! I play of 21! So hitting the green has improved. Thanks for a great channel!

    Fantastic video guys, thank you. I tried this on the range a few days ago and started to see some major improvements in my iron accuracy! Two questions I got from my practice:
    1) I noticed that swinging with the shorter iron, less release technique, that I lost about 10 yards of distance on each iron compared to a full release, longer iron swing. Is that what is supposed to happen? Sacrificing some distance but gaining accuracy?
    2) Do you find yourselves ever doing the short iron technique for your longer irons or vice versa? At least in terms of release of the club? For example, if you have a tight green 200yds out you want to try to hit with a long iron (4-iron for example), maybe club up to a 3-iron and hit the short iron release for better accuracy?
    Thanks for all the work you guys put into these videos! Very helpful.

    Love this episode guys. I´m struggling whith the long irons after a 12-14 years break from the game. That was where i used to shine, but now not so much. The funny thing is my clubheadspeed has increased quite alot. My 7iron is at about 89mph, so i definitely think i have room for improvement there. My short iron game is now somewhat controlled, quite the oposite of how it was before.
    The full release of the long iron is something i havent done, definitely gonna look into that. Also the finish of the short iron looks interesting.! My long- and short iron swing are quite similar i think. =(
    Again, thanks for a awesome episode.

Question: at what point do you start making the change from “short iron swing” to “long iron swing?” Can you use either swing in the mid iron clubs depending on what you’re trying to achieve? Or is it short iron swing up to 7 iron and then long iron swing from 6 iron and up? Thanks!

    Great video guys, I don't struggle with my full irons, I know all my distances from 56 deg to 3 iron at full swing. My inconsistencies are more with 60 -100 yard shots. I feel like I have to manufacture a shot for these distances. I am currently experimenting with different clubs at the moment from a 56 deg 52 deg and a PW but I just do not have any consistent distance. Do you have any routines or anything to help with these shots? I hit my 56 deg about 100 yards at full swing which is my highest lofted club in the bag.

    So THAT's why I hook my short clubs on occasion! After playing for the past 17 years, I never realized the difference in finishes between a long and a short iron...Thank you..

    I’d pay $1,000 for someone to show me this video when I started golfing 10 years ago.

      Not on a broke college kid's budget. I could hardly afford range balls back then.

    Great video! I was looking for difference between long irons and short irons because i was hitting my short irons "too far" with less consistency. Could it be if i was releasing the short irons the same way as the long irons?

    I use this and it works. One addition is I aim at the ground about 3" in front of the ball and right on my target line. The shorter the club the shorter the distance I aim in front of the ball.
    Ball placement is the same relative to my left foot with all irons woods and hybrids. Except driver. This give you consistent distant.

    The video explains a lot between the differences of the clubs, the game has a lot of facets that need a lot of attention to become a good player.

    I think the footwork exhibited while presenting their tips is impressing to say the least. Playful yet so stabile. Well done

    Thank you for the informative video! What would happen if we hit long iron using the short iron technique and vice versa? Cheers!

      You would hit the long iron less distance.

    Excellent video. Going to try these practice tips. Perhaps you guys can provide a practice tip on how to keep from dropping your shoulders in the swing. For some reason when I lean over the golf ball with a short iron, I tend to drop my shoulders some and block my swing out. This kills my power and causes me to push shots right on occasion.

    If you could do a video on super-short (5-10 yard) thick rough shots (potentially with obstacle in between), that would be great

    Hi Guys
    Love your great videos, I noticed that many pro golfers including Piers separate the index finger from the rest of the fingers. What is the reason and what benefit can we get. I notice that it stops me swinging too much inside. Could you explain please?

    Thanks for the video… my problem is the slight changes from pitching wedge to long irons.. do you just make it set in your mind.. gap to 9 iron - use short iron finish… 8ir to 6 ir: part of your long iron swing? Then 5, 4, 3.. long irong swing?

    Hi guys! I struggle with distance on wedges with a full swing, LW SW PW. I think my hands are too low and this seems to cause them to go very high.
