I really struggle with my long irons. I will definitely try this out on the range this week. Thanks so much for making it easy to understand and getting straight to the point.
Adam's instruction is consistently good, with great explanation laying a solid foundation. I love that he speaks plainly and doesn't flood us with golf jargon. Excellent.
Adam you were the first golf channel I watched 3 years ago and still the most understandable. I have tried 3 in-person instructors so far and some provide information that is just beyond the student's understanding or drills that are not right for the situation. One coach told me I was casting and I had to rebuild by entire swing.... when I was actually just over the top a little I practiced an in to out swing and played with wedges a while and fixed it myself in 2 days. I am more accurate than him at 99 yards verified on launch monitor. The truth was I needed to use the muscles I have and not muscles I don't have, so fix the path, not the golfer. at 5:02 you are hinting at that concept. What works for Tigers speed and shaft lean may not work for everyone. I call it Bio Golf Coaching where a good instructor works with the student's limitations and builds from there.
Adam, you are a great teacher. The concepts are kept simple and athletic rather than so many who deal with all this science and still shots. Those positions are simply a result of an athletic swing. Too often I think we spend entirely too much time trying to duplicate some of those images rather than allowing the club to flow freely, using momentum of the club head at impact. What isn't taught as often is "impact". Starting at where we want to be at impact, then working backwards to me is paramount. All your information coincides with other excellent teachers such as Mike Malaska. Thank you. I truly enjoy your channel.
I have a question, I’ve heard you’re supposed to have the same swing for every club and just widen your feet to compensate for the different lengths. Is that true? Or are there different planes for each club?
I quit playing for over ten years and only started back up the last 6 months, I went looking at new clubs and was disappointed most sets stop at a 4 iron, I carry a 3 and 2 and can hit them both well - 7 handicap when I played. Anyhow, if I buy a new set I'll probably order a 3 iron for sure.
@@ejvaudt67 exactly :) good luck Eric ^-^ golf is such a beautiful game. It frustrates us all but there will be areas of your game that will impress you. Cheers

Great video! I am guilty of hitting down on my long irons way to much, which creates too much spin and I loose distance. Thanks ADs
Thanks Joshua.

These are great teaching videos. I always look forward to them. I noticed this time that in the opening credits your name was misspelled. Dang it.
Thanks for letting us know. We didn't realize this.
Another great video. Thanks. Johnny Miller was a great mid to long iron player.
Thanks JL, yes, I’m a bit Miller fan.

Just slightly

Thanks for the comment Mike.

Another great video - thank you! Is your advice about hitting long irons also applicable to hybrids? - seems like it would be but I'd like to be sure.
Thanks Timothy.
Yes, you could apply it to hybrids also.

Andrew,
I'm in the 'same swing for every club' camp (with minor set up adjustments.

I’m of honest belief that to get good with any club you need to work and practice on hitting that club alot
I’d agree
golfer back then: hits 2 3 irons.
golfer now: I can't play without my hybrid and cavity backs.
I miss the old days too.

Hey Adam,
Have you ever played in Australia?
Elliott,
Regrettably, I've never been to Australia.
Thanks, Adam
Interesting, coming from the inside also creates more of a high draw with less spin and hitting down creates a fade with more spin.
Yes, I hope this is helpful to you.

love your content, would be awesome if you could throw in a ball tracking line. not sure how hard that is though.
Thanks Troy, looking in to that. It might require more takes if you know where the ball goes!
