    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On TH-cam and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I use my 3 iron all the time. It is great at raking the coals in the back patio fire pit. I get much more enjoyment out of that than watching my shots dribble down the fairway, or slice into the deep woods. :-) Hybrids rule! Good advice Danny!

I am 70 yrs old and am a long iron player all my golfing trimester however since watching this video about hybrids I have purchased from my club Proffesional two hybrids I tried them first for a week (Marcus is very accommodating) low and behold I can stroke my hybrid from the fairway and rough most of the time (arthritis permitting) I can the ball up in the air quickly and even if I duff! It the ball still travels far better than my four iron though I sill have uses for my four iron

2 Utility and 4 Utility have changed my game so much. Avoided them because everyone said higher handicappers shouldn’t play them. Got so fed up with my Hybrids that I figured I had nothing to lose. Haven’t looked back. 2 iron is easily my favourite club in my bag and the one I get most excited about pulling out now.

When I started out golfing at 40, I had a 3 iron, that was very difficult to hit. I started later in life and being a lefty I used mostly men’s used equipment or whatever we could find. I became very frustrated and gave up for a while, as I was an avid bowler and very good at it, averaging over 200. When I retired, I tried to play more golf, and as I progressed I did improve. I got rid of the 3 iron and went to a new set of Ladies Adams left-handed with hybrids and they seem to work for me within 110 yards. Some times I still use my 7 wood in the fairway, which also has a lower loft and if I hit it properly it does well. I do however struggle using a 5 wood in the fairway. And I’m more consistent with the 7. I only wish I had started playing golf when I was much younger rather than bowling.

I switched out my long irons for 6H,5H,and 7W to great effect. As you say, I can still hit high or low and even shape the shots. My 6H has become my go to chipper as well. I picked Cobra because I really like the baffler rails.

I have just bought a hybrid Danny and the main reason was I can sill use my 4 iron but I struggle with the 3 iron. I see a lot of the guy's in my golf society have discarded their long Irons and replaced the with hybrids. So I thought I'll get one and thank god I did Its a big asset to have in the bag and its easy to hit I wish I'd bought one a couple of years ago.

Thanks for your tips Danny - they’ve helped me a lot. I’ve gone the hybrid route and couldn’t be happier. 3-6 hybrids are TM aeroburner and 7-8 hybrids are Callaway Big Bertha. The callaways hit higher and straighter - easier to hit but harder to hit low shots, harder to shape shots.

I have a 5 and 6 hybrid which came with my bag. I have a 4 hybrid that was given to me. I am hot and cold with all three. I was told you have to take a divot in order to strike it well so I focused on that. I never really knew where my stance should be? You have helped me improve my game thus far with your chipping, irons, and sand trap videos that I cannot wait to try this one. The results I am used to are worm burners, or low line drives. You’ve helped me a lot with rest of my game so far, pretty much took all my lessons from you,so I’ll take your advice on hybrid and give it a go. Hitting that upto 240 metre not yards. 18 degree 5 metal I can hit 210 but that is a very hard hit. But more often 190. Dropped my handicap 10 shots in as many months.

As a 46-year-old who has never really played golf and picked up a pair of used clubs not even knowing what a hybrid was, I can tell you they are (as you say) more forgiving. Always had hybrids but for me they tend to go too high and that isn’t a good thing especially with a headwind. At the end of season 2017 I switched to a crossover 4 and this season I switched to a new V6 iron set from Wilson PW-4, Wilson V4 3 iron and a Srixon 2 iron and can do everything with them. ...high, low, chipping , punches, get out of trouble with lots of roll....Even the Srixon 2 iron is so easy to hit from the tee and from the deck. But I agree that hybrids are easy to hit and for a lot of golfers are the better option. But when you have a good swing and enough swingspeed and like the look of an iron more there are plenty of iron(like) options out there nowadays to chose from. Good video👍🏽

My 4 iron is 25° so I play a 22° and a 19° hybrid. Really enjoy having those clubs. The 19° is a great club to play a low tee shot into the wind on short par 4s. The 22° feels like I could basically do anything with it, slinging draws, feathery cuts. Sometimes if I’m feeling a little off in my ball striking I play down the grip and just play a chippy cut from even 150 yards to greens. I absolutely love my hybrids even though I still use my long irons plenty.

Just before Covid stopped play I had a complete set of irons custom made for me with 4i-PW. They transformed my game and my handicap was cut by 6 in 3 months to 16, my lowest for over twenty years.
But I could not get a 3 iron in the set. My go to long iron was my 3i and without it I suffered. Then I bought a Hybrid 3 and regained the wonderful feeling of stopping the ball on the green from 180+. Like you said there is no feeling in golf like a well struck long iron. Except a well struck hybrid.
Today I have ordered the 4 hybrid to match the first one and I can't wait to see what I can do with that. They are great clubs and as you say so versatile. I use mine for short chips from thickish rough just of the green. I use a putting stroke and my short game has improved no end. SO Yes, a huge thumbs up for hybrids.

I like hitting both long irons and hybrids. It usually depends on my lie. I even putted with a hybrid (I had watched Brooks Henderson do this as some wonder why I watch a 'boring' sport like golf? If I didn't, I would not think I could use my hybrid as a putting/chipping tool.) and I has made a putt from the fringe scoring a birdie on a lagging hole. I prefer hitting a hybrid on thick, grassy rough and even took a shot from a fairway bunker with it as well as off the tee . Hybrids are very versatile and yes, I hit them like a wood or even like a 6 iron but I prefer irons on fairways and shallow cut rough. Depending the course or links I play, determines whether I keep my hybrid in the bag and occasionally switch it out with my 4 iron or 5 wood unless someone is willing to forget the 14 clubs in your bag only rule.
