Beginner here. I’ve played a good 5 rounds and I’ve been told my swing is coming a long well (played baseball for most of my youth) and that my “short game” is good. I hit well with my irons and my putting is decent. To my surprise, I have trouble hitting off a tee with my driver. This particular video is really helpful for me to develop my swing even further. Kudos gentlemen, you videos are very well done and the attention to detail is important for us learners.
I’ve been really struggling to hit driver lately, whilst great with my irons. This explanation of the difference has been eye opening and hopefully transformational. Thanks very much. 👍👏👏👏
I’m only 2 months into my golf journey and My driving has been very hit and miss. One session lifting the lead heel has helped me hit it so much better and consistently. Thanks guys!
I've only just started golf (about a month ago!) and would just like to say your videos have helped me immensely in getting the basics sorted so thank you both very much! I know I have a long long way to go to and a lot of improvement to make but your content has given me a brilliant basis to work from. I record my swings when I can and my iron swing is going well, and I am happy with how that is progressing. The more I get on the driving range and golf course, again helped by watching your videos, the better and more consistent I'm getting. My driver swing however is not great! I am managing to hit the ball relatively straight and with some distance (although only around the 150 mark) but my legs are too static and my body rotation needs improving. But again with your videos I know what to work on and will keep on making improvements to my game!
I have the classic 2 plane swing. High hands on the backswing with a full 90 degree turn of the upper body. My downswing comes down the line slightly from the inside. I can hit irons all day. I still hit a 3 iron. However I am not consistent enough with the Driver.
This is exactly the info I needed. I have been struggling with driver distance and consistency, but this helped me realize I have to develop my driver swing. Only a few range sessions and I’m hitting the ball way further and with more consistency. Thanks for the great content!
Very informative ! Since a while I struggle with my driver and didn’t understand why. Actually, after watching this excellent vid, I realize I was centered on my left knee at the BS ( somehow like stack & tilt) then my angle of attack was to low ( 0 to negative), resulting in higher spin with high flight!! Thanks for the advice « lead shoulder near the right knee without sway ». !!👍👏
Great tips guys! And this has reminded me that I’m trying (too often) to hit my irons as hard as my driver. My iron shots are always better when I let the right club selection do the work for me. Thank you ⛳️🏌️♂️
I've played golf most of my golf and have a pretty good swing, I thought until I saw this video. I'm hitting my drive 30-40 yards further bringing my left shoulder back above my right knee! I could not believe how much distance I gained! This is sooooo true what they're showing you here. Seeing Rory's swing video helped confirm their teaching. Great video!
wedge to 7iron is good and driver to 7 wood are good. 6 and 5 iron have the most inconsistent results distance wise and shot shape wise . 6 and 5 iron sometimes go barely farther than the 7 iron and other times when it is hit clean it goes 10 and 20yards farther. ???#1 With a long iron should i use more of a technique like Rory on the driver or stick with the more centred pivot? #2 Does my swing speed influence which technique I use on long irons? I am 85 to 95 with the driver. Thanks Love your channel!!!
I find if I am working on my driver a lot, my iron accuracy suffers. I've concluded that the driver swing plane is flatter and, if my swing plane is flatter with irons, my delivery is less consistent. I've been trying to be conscious of using my left shoulder differently for irons vs. woods. With the driver, I'm thinking down & BACK with the shoulder but with the irons mainly down with the shoulder. That make my swing plane more vertical for my irons and more a more consistent, zeroed path, The down on the irons also keeps my weight forward promoting a downward angle of attack and a bottom of the swing after the ball. They really are two very different swings.
well, now I believe I know why I've had so much more confidence on the tee vs. the fairway. I am a "one swing" guy...and need to modify to an iron swing. well done.
I love hitting both driver and irons because of your videos. I’ve really improved both since I started watching you guys. Out of the two I would have to say driver. It’s usually my best friend out on the course
Still working on my long game. I am exaggerating my grip so that it is extra strong. That seems to help my slice a lot. These tips are certainly going to help me with my "form". One of these days I can graduate from my long game practice to short game practice.
Thank you for this video. I lost my long club swing for six days and was getting very frustrated. I can hit my driver and 3 wood again, and I am cranking my 7-4 irons further now. I was bent too much at the waist so I was trying to get the timing of my up and down torso movement with my swing. Needless to say, I was hitting behind the ball or topping the ball. Very rarely hitting a nice shot.
When I first took up golf, my driver was so consistent and reliable while my irons very much less so. Now, the more lessons I take and the more I play, it's the complete opposite! My irons are very consistent while my driver, when I don't get it right, pings so far right it's crazy (but not a slice... it's straight right onto the adjacent fairway lol)
thanks guys, after your last two videos and this one i carried a ball two-thirty yards, further than most of my previous drives which helped me shoot 43 points yesterday
Just getting back into golf after a long hiatus due to a back injury. My irons are ok, but I can’t get my driver to work. These tips should help hugely. Thanks.
My driver absolutely, irons only par 3 and the middle farways, i like your videos i lot guys, It helpme alot on my game, stay cool always, regards from cabo México..
Recently both are a hit and miss with the odd good shot from both club. I'm putting it down to playing once or twice every 2 months. Overall I think I need to slow it down and not try too hard. These tips are great though. One thing I did notice in the video was a smooth relaxed but controlled swing. Something I will try more. Thanks
Driver . Past 6 months been fatting my irons a lot so resorting to using my 3, 4 & 5 hybrids a lot. Last week noticed that I was tending to use a driver setup for my irons. Narrowed my stance and now hitting decent iron shots just have to be more conscious of the setup.
depending on what you do with your release... try to go on the range and focus on that wrist rotating ( like Andy mentioned above). It'll help you out so much. Used to have this problem too back in the day when I was like 12-15 years old :D
Your hands are getting out front. I have the same problem. To fix, my swing thought is to just stay back with my head and hands. Usually works, but can result in a big hook :)
I’m hitting my irons pretty straight right now but my driver is unpredictable unless I do 3/4 swings but I loose a lot of distance but that is my compromise and I’ll live with it.
I hit my driver 350 with little accuracy but my irons are short and 100% :) Better irons player. You should dedicated separate videos to draw vs fade players! I was a fader who switched to a draw for more consistency and now I struggle to play my fade. Love your vids mates keep it up
I’m new to golf and I’m having a hard time creating a divot in my shot. I hit the ball but I hardly ever get a divot. What should I be looking for or practice? Thanks and your videos are great for me as a beginner!
I would prefer a shot (whether iron or driver or hybrid) able to land to the point/place where it is desired to be there. Hitting a drive to the left or to the right unintentionally could get more yardage but could also get you into to trouble for the next shot i.e. under the trees or in a rough with thick grass.
What Golf tops are those I would love to buy one. Videos are brilliant guys. Hit my driver straight about 13 holes after watching your video then at the end when I was tired the slice came back :)
Would of always said my Iron game was the strongest but as of late i've been working on my Driver swing as I would slice nearly all the time, since i've put some focus into this i've seen an impact on my iron swings and have been slicing and fatting a lot of my irons which is very frustrating!! Do you have any guides on grip pressure etc? Looking forward to taking this video to the range then course!
Good video however you should be focusing on certain distance off tee box too. Cause of hazards and also what iorn you want to leave yourself into the green. For example if a hazard comes in at 250 and your driver carry is 250 you might need to take some off or switch clubs. Or on a short par for maybe your uncomfortable at 60 yard chip but really comfortable at 100 well you might want to try and leave it a hair shorter further is not always better for scores if it sacrifices the accuracy or lie of the 2nd shot
Great video guys. How about a video deciphering between early extension vs. using the ground for power. I'm at a confusing point in golf. I can drive the ball amazing most of the time but my iron shot might suffer. However, next time out I can NOT drive it (snap hooks...badly) but iron shots will be absolutely PGA powerful and accurate.
I weigh 120 lbs, and can drive 250 yards straight. Irons I tend to leav to the right. Not a slice, but that pesky Treviño fade. I prefer to hit the driver, it's a complex with me. I love these lessons!
Definitely more consistent and feel like better with irons. In particular with 1 Length irons, Driver/Woods feel excessively long and harder to control.
Meandmygolf: "Post down in the comments what you're good at" Me: "Nothing, that's why Im here" lmaooooooo thanks for the pointers tho. definitely gonna work these in at the range.
Having such an issue shallowing my club with my driver and my irons. I have a pretty good natural golf swing but played baseball growing up through high school. Any tips to shallow me swing?
Which club do you prefer to use the most, IRON or DRIVER? Comment down below!⬇️
Irons all day. I'm so inconsistent with my driver. Went back to my trusty 3 iron stinger off the tee
Normally irons. I’m more consistent with them, but last time I went out I loved hitting my driver more.
Both I'm a great iron and driver player
Meandmygolf I’m more consistent with my irons. Working through some driver techniques to see what works best for me! Great video

Great tips. I started playing last month for the first time in my 50 years on this planet. Got my first birdie. Thanks to your coaching tips
I’m bad at both driver and iron, hence watching this before hitting the range tomorrow

No worries Jake. Glad this was useful
Started 3 weeks ago playing the game! Thank you so much for your videos, they’re helping me a lot!
10:30 Piers looks away after that sweet iron shot and Andy wasn't gonna let that slip. Love these subtle jabs between these two.
The way you guys have this broken down in the time stamps, is awesome to say the very least!!

Obviously, Hunter is my grandson playing with TH-cam, not me.
One of the best overall instruction videos I've ever seen. Great stuff.
Irons are strongest part of my game. 3W is my go to off the tee but I'm working on driver right now and it's getting better.
Saaaame.
Exactly how my game is as well. Been my biggest challenge coming from a baseball background.
Probably the best golf video I have seen and these 2 golfers are wonderful teachers! Thank you for this awesome training session
Great breakdown! Would love the same breakdown between an iron swing and a 3-wood swing!
wedge to 7iron is good and driver to 7 wood are good. 6 and 5 iron have the most inconsistent results distance wise and shot shape wise . 6 and 5 iron sometimes go barely farther than the 7 iron and other times when it is hit clean it goes 10 and 20yards farther.

Definitely my Driver!!! I haven't reached my zen moment yet with my irons.
You will get there Cindy!😁
I love Andy and Piers passive aggressive banter. They’re like an unhappy couple doing it for the kids
Started about a month ago, and I’m decent driving, definitely need work in the iron game. Going to try these tips later tonight, great work guys!
I only got my first driver this week, this drill is really gonna help me to find some consistency with it! Thanks guys!!

Started golfing this season, not so good with the irons, but I'm a natural with the driver. Hitting 300 yards very straight shots, very satisfying.

Very helpful videos. I struggled with my driver I kept slicing it but this has helped stop that.

Irons. Straight and good contact. My driver if I try to speed up it's a slice. Have to go slow to stay straight, but it kills my distance
practice keeping your front foot 1 inch ahead of the back .. it helped a lot of amateurs stop slicing

great series of videos!
I’ve always been good with my irons I still kinda struggle with my long iron (3 iron) I hit it kinda thin and some times a little fat
Love the videos guys, big part of me getting down to 2 hcp from 7 in a month and get my 1st under par round! :)
I don't believe you.

No you guys keep up the good work thank you!
Clicked in under a minute of uploading! Almost as speedy as DeChambeau
I have a problem swaying or moving left on my driver down swing causing me to hit down on the driver. Any thoughts? Set up and ball position all good.
Great video. Cheers lads ⛳️🏌️♂️👍
Thank you so much for all u do, ur both are the best..
Best with woods, seem to have difficulty getting hitting ball first with irons 7-2
Great video!
You swing looks effortless!! I have a low lumbar issue how do I modify my hip rotation???
I like your video, want to learn more from you guys.
Question: when using an iron or a wood to tee off, do you play it like an iron or a driver?
If it is an iron of fairway wood then there will generally be a hit down on the short even on the tee.
@@meandmygolf. Andy is drunk again

Love the new shoes guys😎🙏
Do you change the position of the grip on the club if you are hitting short distances?
Great tips, we'll be trying these out!
Driver 310 uphill with a fade. 9 iron pushed into the woods. I wonder if it’s being pushed because I am trying to replicate my driver swing?
Excellent...
Really good !!!!!!!
Killer video..great explanation
Def stronger with irons, can shape them around trouble and will hit a 3 iron over driver off tee any time precision is a must
If only that video was out last saturday, I would have saved a few balls! Very informative, thanks a lot lads!
Glad this was useful Jo
How do you guys feel about forward pressing irons and placing the ball somewhat back in the stance for loftier irons?
Hi Zach. If the forward press works then yes. We prefer the ball ahead of centre unless you are playing a lower shot.
In regard to irons....long irons 3,4....mid irons 5,6,7...short 8,9,PW....can you tell us what is the difference in each of those setups and swings?
Love it, you just so strong👏😀
