Hopefully y’all understand the big difference between both swings after this!
Thanks this helps a lot
Very timely for me. I have just been struggling with this. I can't wait to go out and put the points you made to work. Thank you!
Do you maintain the 70/30 weight distribution during your backswing or just for address position?
Please do a video on the knock down shot. Almost every time I try to choke down on a wedge and flight it in I thin it more often than not
As a new player this is really helpful.
You ever thought about a series of transforming a high handicap golfer into a scratch golfer? If so I volunteer😂
I second this! Please I need help 😭
Im the next one just in cass he wants to do 3! 🤣
I’d like to put my name in this hat 😂
Not possible. The golfer has to be able to figure out how to move naturally to a degree. If they can't do that no amount of instruction will bring their cap down
@@adamhope8689 arent you just a ray of sunshine my boy
Thanks for having me on Grant---I had a blast. You da man!
I'm a mid to low 80 player and hve been playing 3 years consistently but my follow through looks so bad with chicken arming it. Please help me!
I have watched Eric for a year now. He was born to be a teacher and educator. The way he teaches and explains things are what a great instructor does. And what he says always makes great sense. If only I have the skill to translate what he teaches to my body’s ability!!
Hey grant, been watching for a few months now. Just hit my first EAGLE driving the green on a 255 yard par 4. Beautiful 10yrd draw rolled 2ft from the pin.
Keep watching these videos guys. The tips really work. 😮
Eric is amazing! Love his channel. Glad to see him as a guest
Great collaboration. I love Eric Cogorno’s teaching channel.
Would love to hear about wrist hinge during the backswing and also releasing the club head. Great video!
Cogorno is the man!!! This dude helped my game so much!! I pray the algorithm keeps him hidden from my friends so I can keep cleaning them out
Great to see this collaboration, love Eric’s content
Your teaching videos are very helpful. It helps me get better at golf
Wow you got Eric on the channel fantastic. I have followed him for years he is a teaching legend 👍
Collaborations with other swing gurus is perfect. I’ve watched Eric’s videos since restarting playing golf which has helped immensely. Love Danny Maude also. Keep bringing us Grant Horvat Teaches.
This was great. I’ve always known that the driver vs iron swing was different, but you guys did a great job laying it all out at a deeper level.
Glad you had Eric on. Love his channel. He is an amazing coach.
Thank you so much for confirming a lot of suspicions that I had about the differences between an iron and a driver swing. I thank so much that I have a green light to really establish these changes.
This has been me. I love playing my irons but absolutely dread grabbing a driver. I often think if I could just get off the tee box I would be fine. I know that 95% of my problem is with setup and coming in too steep like an iron. I worked on irons for so long that I’ve neglected the driver, but I’m determined to work it out and I think this video is going to help me tremendously
It’s crazy to me that there’s information like this for free to us. Thanks Grant!
Not totally free if you are being brainwashed by ads, but ya, free.
Your videos are so helpful Grant. Thank you.
THANK YOU for putting this into easy to understand visuals! Gonna give this a try at the range this week!
More of this please! Great collab!
Have always struggled with these. Thanks for the explanation. Can’t wait to try this out on the range!
Dude you got Eric bro! That's so badass, on both sides. Eric is a stud man. Love lots of his stuff.
I'm so glad you've visualised this together with Eric! That lowering the club foot by foot is gonna save me off the tee in the future
Good video. Thanks. I missed you guys talk about the different grip though. Pretty crucial to me, if I'm honest.
Thanks guys, super informative 😀
Thanks Grant! I feel so confident with my irons. When I hit a decent drive I know I’m going to birdie or par. It’s just the driver inconsistency. Im someone who needs to understand how and why to do something to do it. Thanks for the pointers!
Been following and learning from Eric from his first video all of those years ago. 👏🥃
grateful for this lesson, ive been struggling with driver for so long, hitting it like a iron and unable to close my face causing major slice problems
These concepts are consistent with the stack and tilt method. Good work!
2 YT GOATS teaming up.. This day can't get any better.
Great vid, I like Eric and he has some great stuff.
I definitely struggle right now with driver consistency where I feel pretty good with irons. Great video!
Absolutely loved this teaching! Very helpful. Blessings!✝️❤️
This was great!!! I can going to try this. I struggle to hit my driver for the reasons you state in the video.
I honestly didn't realize I was taking my driver away too steep, took these tips and my drives improved drastically. I don't fear taking it out of the bag now. Thank you
Been trying to figure this out all damn week and then this video comes up?! Couldn’t have worked out better for me!
Elite video guys!
Great stuff here I need to work on these pointers
Thanks G
I love Eric's videos
Eric is so good. Golden couple right here. Thanks. 🇬🇧
I havent watched yet and i already know i needed this
I needed this. I started working more on my iron shot and saw my driver shot get worse because of it
great job guys
Grant, my golf game is better because of all that you share with us. Thank you for the time you are putting in!
Finally someone who stresses that there are two different swings for irons and driver. For decades, so many instructors said you shouldnt change your swing for driver and thats just not correct. Great video.
oh there is a difference. Love the videos man. Thanks
Great video!
Two of my favorite content creators. Que the popcorn.👍
Interesting in the presetting the weight to the left side for irons. I’ve always had my swing going from right to left. I’ll try that preset weight when I can!
Thanks Grant
Can you talk about the importance of staying behind the ball with the driver whilst also moving weight forward and how you find that balance pls
This camera is crazy clear!
Quality channel and content
great video!
This was such a nice, simple tutorial. The weight distribution + the handle placement on the 8i was really a lightbulb-moment for me. Thank you so much! How does the handle placement change when you're going through the different irons up towards 4i? I guess you'd want to do much of the same, and when it comes to woods you'd swing a bit 'flatter'?
Hey grant I'm having trouble with my hands on the club...for instance one day it feels great and another day my hands are all wrong and I mess up terribly!! Can u do a video on ur hands and where they should be on an iron and driver like for instance the thumbs and how being on one side or the other might affect it! I've learned alot from yours and trotties videos and they've took me down to a 10 handicap where I was at a 20 plus before all the videos I've watched between the 2 or u! Thanks and hope to see one soon cause I need it!
Would love to see this style of video with a 20 handicapper and a full 30 min of really working driver, hybrid, 7 iron, pw. Then check up on him a month or two later and see if he's retained most of that, if his handicap has gotten better, and continue one more set of lessons to really drive it in. It would be great to see what an average golfer can achieve with this level of knowledge 1 on 1 and it relates to probably 90% of your viewership!
P.S. - If you do this around Tucson, AZ let me know! I run between a 14 and 18 handicap and consistently have to watch videos, do drills, and put in lots of range work when my iron or driver swing gets off.
Great video
you the man
Love your good stuff Grant. Any chance of some instruction on how to hit a perfect fairway wood? (3-wood especially)
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2 legends. 1 video.
Didn't even watch it yet and gave it a thumbs up! Lol
Loved that driver drill
Grant please go over, the takeaway, the hinge , what the right hand and the left hand is doing as you take away and as you come through. also if you could go over what are you looking for in the feel in the takeaway and hanging of the wrist and then when your coming down.
Grant huge fan of you and your channels y'all mention long irons my question is I got hybrids two of them does that quality the same as a long irons of ball position, and keep up the great videos brother 🙏
Hey grant, I really need help with putting, would love to see a three part putting series
Great video! The 70/30 weight distribution worked miracles for my swing. Could you tell me what the weight distribution is at the top of your backswing? Is it 50/50 or more on the right foot?
This couldn’t come at a better time!
Love it, how do you determine how high to tee the ball up??
Grant I suffer from early extension or not maintaining posture in the golf swing. Can you do a video on some drills to help a fellow golfer out?
Horvat and Cogorno! 🤯
Knowing the differences in swings is what separates a decent golfer and a hacker. When I first started golf I bought a driver and went to the driving range and got decent with the driver, then I got irons and I was horrible, but I practiced with the irons and got decent with them too, I practiced so much with the irons that I forgot some of the things about driving, but I quickly relearned.
The only thing I would warn against is thinking of this flatter swing from through the takeaway and backswing can cause a whole host of issues that are hard to correct if you interpret that baseballswing as whipping club and shaft in and around your body. You can have an almost perfect swing but momentum will kick the club over whether you like it or not from there. The key for me is to have this as how you want to come in to the ball after transition.
Was hoping you’d talk more about the iron swing.. and everything that goes into it.
I would love to know where Grant got those shoes from, I love the look of those
Going to range today to try that drill with my driver. Hit my irons really well but my driver has a mind of its own 😅
That baseball practice swing dramatically changed my driver swing when I started using it. If I’m having an issue on the course I do that on the tee box to get back in line
i really feel like eric was trying to emphasise this drill but grant kind of overlooked it. that piece of advice could be huge for someone struggling out there
Could you do one of these for the long irons and fairway woods and hybrids please
What was also pointed out was your “Middle” for your iron swing was lined up with your left ear. Coming from someone who kept farting their irons doing this changed helped me tremendously 🎉
I have been battling issues with my iron swing. I like to draw the ball with my driver, most other clubs I like to try to high straight shots or baby draws, but I have been fading my irons. I hardly ever fade my driver, 3 wood, or 2 hybrid.
Perfect timing… be working to get better with both. For me it’s not a matter of contact, it’s about generating that extra power to compress the ball, to gain the yards I know I have in me.
Would love to see a full round with you and a high handicap
Eric is great u should do more videos with him….
Hey Grant, I just went to the range after watching this and there is a HUGE difference! I vowed to watch this before every time I play now. One question - should my hybrid/wood swing be more like the iron or driver? Thanks!
Let’s go! Love to hear it
It’s a combination of both
Can you do a video on more consistent ball striking?
Was just on Raven 4 tee box yesterday! Probably the toughest driving hole on the 9 so good choice for demo'ing execution.
After all these years I’ve never seen Eric play golf
He has several course videos where he plays on his channel.
@@Not.Satoshi Dope will check it
Your shoulders naturally tilt when you grab for the driver. A lot of new players (like me) over exaggerate the tilt and hit under it.
Think I need ya out on the range with me next session 😂
Great info, THANK YOU! I wonder about fairway woods/hybrids. Are they more like irons or driver?
I would say irons because the ball isn't teed up and the attack angle is more down on the ball.
Could you also kindly tell us about head tilt? How much head tilt for irons, and for driver at set up?
Cogorno seems like a good teacher
Gonna try this out as I can't hit driver very well. Duck Hooks constantly
What about in between , like a 6 iron. 5 wood , rescue woods ?
Grant can you do a teaching video on creating lag with the driver
2:10 I was a player who was good with the driver and not the best with irons. I just couldn’t take a divot. Then one day I completely switched. My iron play was impeccable and my driver was inconsistent.
Can you go over the fairway wood swing? I can’t hit them to save my life 😃
