  • The start of a clearing job, I have about 1/2-3/4 of an acre to clear out for a shop and pool house. My ripper happened to show up that morning too, great timing. I used it a little bit to rip out a few stumps and it did great! Hopefully you guys won't get burnt on this job, I think I'm going to be here for a bit. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #brushclearing

You can never go wrong with Time and materials. You never come up short on the quote and normally your customer doesn't feel cheated. Keep up the good work. Chris from Lets Dig has been doing this since birth, with time comes experience for sure.

Congrats on getting this bigger, job. As the jobs get bigger, the risks of unexpected complications increase. So there is nothing at all wrong with charging ‘time and materials’ as you develop your skill set, acquire more tools, and also get more used to knowing what complications to be on the lookout for. I am really pleased for you. This is great step forward. Greetings from Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺

I know that with time and materials it really doesn't matter and unless you're doing a lot of specific work it's hard to justify buying attachments or maybe just rent one but look into a brush or root rake with a grapple. That wooded area looks thin enough to go in with a brush grapple on your skid steer to do the initial clean up then go in and fall the trees. Just an extra idea to throw out there for ya. Nice video Brandon!

I haven't used a bucket on a tree or stump in several years, I use a ripper for most of my clearing and please don't take this as I am a know it all but one suggestion is when you start on a stump or tree start close to you and work away with the ripper. you can use the roots behind the ripper to pry the ripper through the roots that are closer to you. if you start furthest away then all you have is the pulling power of the machine.

Hey Brandon!!! Hahaha. I have been watching Letsdig18 for a long time and I think you are doing a similar job in a similar manner. There is a distinct difference in the size of machines mind you,,,,,, heh heh. The only trick I see him use and you are not using as much is, he more often breaks a lot of the trees off by grabbing them and then using another standing tree to snap them off to a more manageable size. I’m not sure how much difference there is in the strength of the grip on the bucket and claw as well as just the size of the machine vs how thick of a tree you can snap is.
From what I see there isn’t any wasted time so you will get to be pretty good at this even before this job is done!! The soil is nice for knocking them trees down and not sticking to the roots so you should get a pretty clean burn pile. Those stumps should burn right up! Should,,,,, haha.
I’m looking forward to see how the apprentice learns from the master??? Ok ok, enough pestering ya.
Keep em coming! They are all interesting.

    • @eliteearthworksllc

Elite Earthworks LLC It was impressive. I’m in Virginia. I have TL140 I bought new and love it. But having a little trouble commenting on the excavator. I like your quick connect, I don’t if that’s an option on the Kubota. Thanks for time. Enjoy your videos.

John Ezell mine is a Werk Brau coupler I’m sure they make one for Kubota too I think it was about $5000 but well worth it in my opinion. Anytime and thank you

What size pins do your buckets carry? It wouldn't be a 40 mm would it?

I have a Cat 304 that has the 40mm but the camera can be deceiving on size and even distance on TH-cam. Just wondering. Thank's.

Hey man, nice job! Looking forward to getting back to work this spring. Dang snow up here in Vermont. Interested to hear what you think about the ripper and if its worth it. I have a few attachments on order for my Bobcat T650 and E50.

Benjamin Curran thank you! I would imagine the snow is bad up there. Will do I figured I would give my thoughts on the ripper in a video after using it awhile. I think it’s an attachment that will be handy but only on certain jobs. Appreciate the comment

Man that was brutal watching you run that machine and trying to clear that lot. Let’s dig was probably laughing at that performance, I’m not that impressed with the takeuchi anymore, the thumb is slow, you should of bought a cat, but if your getting payed by the hour and the homeowner doesn’t mind you picking the brush up and immediately dropping it on the ground two feet away from where you grabbed it, that’s one way to make a buck. Still like watching the videos though, so crank that machine up and work it.

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Nj One Bale 🤣 I’m sure he was. The Werk Brau thumb is slower because it has a bigger cylinder on it. Not a fan of cat and their tiny cabs and slow controls. The machine running probably won’t get better so you may just want to pass on by 👍🏻

I have to say.. I've been watching you for a while now and I enjoy your videos. I just feel like you need to have a bit more confidence in your work. Chris is great and obviously been showing his work for years and years. But you shouldn't think about what he does or how he does it. Make your own name and showcase your own talents! You are VERY good at what you do!! Keep it up!! (Also maybe invest in a 220?? Lol)

Ripper? You call that a Ripper? In Mother Russia they build man-sized Rippers for excavators in Saint Petersburg, The Bucket Factory (ЗАВОДА КОВШЕЙ) even makes videos of them being welded. This is how one of the office ladies earns a few extra Rubles each month. I'll post a link below, buy a real Russian Size Ripper Brandon.
