    Listen to the ground
    There is movement all around
    There is something goin' down
    And I can feel it
On the waves of the air
    There is dancin' out there
    It's somethin' we can't share
    We can't steal it
    That sweet city woman
    She moved through the light
Controlling my mind and my soul
When you reach out for me, yeah
    And the feelin' is right
Then I get night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
    Here I am
Prayin' for this moment to last
Livin' on the music so fine
    Borne on the wind
    Makin' it mine
    Night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
In the heat of our love
Don't need no help for us to make it
    Gimme just enough
To take us to the mornin'
I got fire in my mind
I get higher in my walkin'
And I'm glowin' in the dark
    Give you warnin'
    Sweet city woman
    She moves through the light
Controlling my mind and my soul
When you reach out for me
    And the feelin' is right
    Night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
    Here I am
Prayin' for this moment to last
Livin' on the music so fine
    Borne on the wind
    Makin' it mine
    Night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to do it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to show it
Gimme that night fever, night fever
We know how to do it

I don't usually listen to "Night Fever"; but now that I have again, it brings back memories of my youth. In 1978, music had a huge influence on our (U.S.) culture. In the movies, TV and concerts. This song got a lot of play time on the radio. Sometimes I listen to songs that are 43 years old, just to see if I still like them today. Thanks for the reaction video, "Night Fever" still sounds great!

Jay, this was part of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack! Also we are seeing Barry without his beard which we don’t see very often. Baby face under all that hair! 😎

The story I've heard is that, after this album become amazingly successful, the brothers paid all the musicians who played on the album much more money than they had to.

That's a very good spot of their use of anacruxis in that track to start the song.

anacruxis....holy cow I didn't know that's what it was called. I know I've learned what it's called in music theory but I was too lazy to bust out my theory book.

This was from Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, one of the most famous and succesful movies of all time: the Bee Gees soundtrack was a masterpiece and a bestseller in 1977. Check it out.

You could compare the first few seconds on this song with the intro to Jive Talkin'. It has the similar feel to it.
As one said below about driving over a bridge near their studio in 1975, the sound of the tires on the pavement gave the idea to the Jive Talkin' intro. At least thats what the brothers always have stated.

    Hi Jaybriel,
Are you reacting to any other groups other than BeeGees and Abba? Was wondering if you could react to a group called Pablo Cruise and their song “Cool Love”. They are a 70s group that was very popular but not mentioned much in reaction videos.

Without a beard, Barry looks very similar to Andy. He once said, Andy is his twin in mind. But they all had a strong connection, which didn't need many words.

Their chart history in those years was incredible. In 1978 alone, they had 8 #1’s. They not only had Bee Gees songs charting, but cover hits by Andy, Samantha Sang (Emotion), Tavares (More Than A Woman), Yvonne Elliman (If I Can’t Have You & Love Me), Olivia Newton-John (Come On Over), Frankie Valli (GREASE), etc. Andy’s career launch had to be delayed and coordinated with the Bee Gees and cover singles of Gibb songs so they weren’t all competing for the top at the same time. You Should Be Dancing was a #1 when released in 1976 from their Children of the World album, and then went to #1 again after the SNF movie came out with Travolta’s famous dance scene to it. Robin’s solo cover of OH! DAHLING from the Sgt. Pepper project (which is considered a flop) went to #15. They already had Spirits Having Flown pretty much ready to go the following year, which had 3 #1’s. The recent HBO documentary focuses a good bit on this period and the subsequent fallout. Thanks for the reactions!!

They do something similar at the beginning of 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'
BTW, Barry wrote the song 'Grease is the Word' performed by Fankie Valli for the hit movie GREASE in 1978. It was also #1 in 1978. The Bee Gees sang it in their 'One night Only' concert in 1997.

    March 18 1978 top 5
    #1 Bee Gees Night Fever
    #2 Bee Gees Stayin Alive
#3 Samanta Sang Emotion writen by Barry and Robin Gibb
#4 Lay down Sally Eric Clapton
#5 Andy Gibb Love is written by Barry Gibb
    Unbelievable.
Stayin Alive was 4 weeks #1
And then 4 weeks #2 behind Night Fever.
More then half of the #1 songs that year were written by Barry Gibb.
He wrote 8 #1 songs that year.

The Bee Gees on top of the world. This song was #1 in America for 8 weeks. You can't help moving along with the beat of this song. This was one of three video The Bee Gees did after Barry shaved his beard in 1977: they re-filmed two of them when he grew it back - Stayin' Alive and How Deep Is Your Love. The originals are all very subdued without much movement.

Everything they did was top notch. And of course all the details are gonna be covered, they pretty much grew up in recording studios. Thats not to take away from their talent, it's just fact. It's pretty amazing how much great pop music came out of the 70's. I'm surprised you haven't done more "Olivia Newton John" she's up pretty high in the mix you react too. You've probably figured out by now I'm more a sucker for the female artist's. Thanks for always doing thoughtful and just great reactions.

It's still surprising that this was written and recorded (along with 5 other songs) before they were ever even approached about the movie. BUT, this song did have something to do with changing the movie's title. 😊
Jay, PLEASE, consider reacting to the Bee Gee's doing "Kiss of Life", link below:

Great reaction to and analysis of this timeless song.
Fun fact: If the beat sounds familiar, you'd be right to think so. They used part of the drum track from this song to record "Stayin' Alive." Just as they were about to start on "Stayin' Alive" in an old chateau in France, their drummer had to rush back to England to be with his dying mother. Without a suitable substitute drummer and finding a simple click track insufficient, the producer and engineer copied a portion of the "Night Fever" drum track onto a tape and fashioned it into a crude but good sounding drum loop using a open-reel tape deck, an empty reel, and a mic stand. Over the next few weeks, the loop - one of the first of its kind - was used for composing and recording most of the song. By the time the drummer had returned, so much of the song had been produced that they decided to keep it in the recording.

If you're looking for more promotional videos by the Bee Gees check out the song "He's a liar" from 1981. It's like the opposite to the disco stuff, the guys were trying to find a new sound, different from what they did before. Not one of their greatest songs but the video is kinda funny. Jabriel. There is a “Serban Mix” of Night Fever where the vocals are very clear and you can make out the voices of each brother as well as the lyrics in a crystal clear way. Other songs from SNF are also presented that way.

I have been watching yours react of Bee Gees, unfortunally you dont belongs to the era of 70s and 80s which is the Best music in all the time, even now you can still playing that music.
I have watched others youtuber react to bee gees and the 95.9% of them, they agree that the bee gees and others hundreds of singer, are in the best era.but you seem that you dont get it yet, perhaps you need to hear other opinions.

Amazing that it took you so long to react to this song - no criticism intended. I agree with you - the hook at the start is a part of ME (my childhood) - those types of hooks were used a lot by the Bee Gees and also, if I may say, Fleetwood Mac also specialise in using these musical devices.
I think of this song as the younger brother of Stayin' Alive, but it is an absolute classic pop song and certainly in the top 5 Disco Songs of all time. period.
I was afraid at the start that you might react negatively but you say 'intoxicating' and that describes the beat and the song perfectly.
I think there is an interesting story about that unrelenting drum-beat...I believe that no drum machines existed at the time and they (Maurice) had to loop the drum beat in order to get that unrelenting sound.
8:33 sounds like...'fever night fever night feverrrrr' I could be wrong.
Barry without a beard is weird but cool...glad he grew the beard. LOL
I would recommend you watching Saturday Night Fever as it seems like you haven't seen it.
Great song...Great reaction - Nice return to form Jay.

The Movie Saturday Night Fever was going to be called Saturday Night. The Bee Gees after they had wrote other songs for the Movie said they had a Song they had written they thought would go with the Movie. The Producers agreed and asked the Bee Gees if they could combine the song title with their Movie title. The Bee Gees agreed and so the movie title became Saturday Night Fever.
John Tavolta told the Story at the 2017 Grammys tribute to the Bee Gees. It was to honor the 40th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever. John Travolta was wearing the White Suit he said for the first time in 40 years.
