Same bike just different bars. R3 is for city riding too. Infaxt I would say more than the mt03. I just put the mt03 bars on my R3 for long dustance riding. The mt03 is more comfortable for longer rides.

Shy 2k miles on mine and it’s been a blast. Just be aware for longer freeway rides: it can get tiring fighting the wind and 80 mph means the engine screams at 8100+ RPM’s so she will run a little hot.
Also since she is naked, do her a solid and count in your cash for extra coverage for engine/clutch/water pump.
And with the extra $ you will
Save from operation costs, you now have less
Of an excuse to invest in high quality, SAFE riding gear

1:58 you take your right hand off the throttle and main brake just 3 car lengths from a junction, as a car is coming towards you in the opposing lane, and as there is a car in 1/2 of your own lane reversing but stopped because they are trying to park.
Just before this you had other hand off the bar, and just before that you actually took both hands off the bar as you were approaching/through a junction.
I know you're trying to make a TH-cam video but please think about what's actually happening on the road, take care of that first, then make your comments.
You can always add voice over afterwards.
    Keep yourself safe first.
You might also review your own riding, as a way to help yourself and us improve? I went for extra training a number of times after I'd been riding for years. We are human, capable but imperfect, so I knew I'd need the expertise of others to keep improving.
Nice video. Useful, entertaining, good style.

OC - I do - well, NO riding in the city rn cuz I don’t have my FJ-09 anymore, but when I ride I do my best to avoid the city. Motorcycles to me are for carving up twisties and seeing new places, not so much for A to B stuff. The risk of getting hit by a car when riding in the city is generally above my threshold of acceptability.

  • @nozimoto
    @nozimoto 3 ปีที่แล้ว

OC: I ride an R3 and I can agree it is amazing in the city. Super maneuverable and has amazing fuel economy. My problem though is here in Southern California everyone goes really fast on the freeways. The average speed is 80mph. If you're going slower than that you are a hazard. The R3 at those speeds gets pretty wobbly due to winds. So in my opinion if you need a motorcycle to sustain higher speeds you need at least a 650cc bike. For a strictly city and non highway bike its perfect.

I live about 10 miles from my job in the city. I commute once a week during COVID and take my little 250cc and not my 1300 Cruiser. It’s so much easier to navigate with the small bike. In traffic, up parking garage ramps, around slow moving buses. I don’t even take the highway, I ride in on surface streets. I’m looking to upgrade my old 250 so maybe this bike will be an option if it fits me.

OC: I could see the MT-03 as a city bike. Even a day ride in the country would be possible. My son had a CBR-250 and that little thumper could scoot. So a 300 twin, would be just fine. I'm just up 85 in Charlotte. I turn in a mix of highway miles and some city. I think the '03 would be up for the highway riding I do.

OC I ride my 2017 R3 that ive had for a year on plenty of highways rides. Although I probably wouldn't want to do 2 or more hours of highway straight, but it'll do it just fine. Honestly with how well tempered the engine is, riding at 70 mph might have it at a high rpm but the bike eats it up. I find myself having to let off cause its so nimble. Love the bike. I dont think I could have picked a better first motorcycle for myself.

I've been away from the bike market for a little (well, I still check my dealer inventory almost every week 😂) since I stopped riding 3 years ago. But I didn't know there was an MT-03! Started on an R3 in 2016, moved to a CBR600 and ended with a FZ-09 back in 2018. Thinking about getting back into riding and my days on the R3 really have me wanting a small bike I can flick around again! Wasn't the fastest but I had way more fun exploring on that little bike! May check out this MT-03. ATL is likely my next move so glad to hear this bike can handle it. I'm from Bama though I've lived in KC for the past few years and everyone I know warns me about ATL traffic 😂😂

It's a great bike, but it's also kind of a pain to live with as well. The horn switch position is the worst, it's a small little button to the right of the signal switch, in a pinch you would never be able to reach it in time to warn others. The signal switch is squishy and lack any sort of feedback, so you don't know if you have turned on/off your signal by feel. If you got the colours where the tank is painted glossy, you have no grip on the tank, which causes you to keep sliding forward due to the forward cant of the seat. This is coming from a commuting centric Yamaha FZS-150, which has a far flatter seat. A lot of reviewers praise the MT-03's riding position and comfort, but it's all relative. The MT-03 is not as comfortable, if you're coming from a more commuting centric bike

    On my Ninja 400:
I'm getting 59 MPG. Almost no highway. I'm 146 pounds and 46 years old. No passengers.
It's upright enough, great compromise position, a bit of wind protection, and it's actually a few pounds lighter than the MT-03 if you can believe that (considering it has a higher displacement engine and a fairing). Parking isn't really a problem where I am (Tarrant County / Fort Worth area), and handling / maneuverability is very light.
Meh, I just went with liability and uninsured motorist bodily. $114 for the year. Didn't feel the need for collision, comprehensive, uninsured motorist property, or PIP. Not too worried about the fairings.
Lots of good mods available. Also we just did the first oil change and I was almost in disbelief at how easy it was. Stock filter was easy to get off (unlike on my old FZ6R where it was practically welded on and in an awkward position) and I only had to take off one small fairing piece on the left side (~1 minute).
I use three different magnetic tankbags depending on what I'm doing -- a Joe Rocket Manta, a Manta XL, and a FIeldsheer Experience XB. I've also got a laptop backpack that straps over the shoulders, across the chest, and around the waist and creates an aerodynamic shape (if we ever go back to the office).
Very highway capable -- 0-60 under 5.0 seconds and top speed around 110mph.
Got the bike with 100 miles on it with several little mods and not a scratch on it for $4,600. My tenth bike and does everything I want. I've added a number of little modifications since getting it in October.
I try to stay pretty far away from "in-city" riding, like in downtown Fort Worth. Way too chaotic. I stick to suburban slabs, big stadium parking lots for practice, and heading out of town to area lake roads.

As potential future rider, I appreciate the fact that the IP has both a gear indicator and fuel gauge, things that would be useufl for a beginner rider but, from what I understand, features not always found on all bikes.

The good thing about city riding, you can be in 6th gear at 50 km per hour

OC: Nearly all my riding is in the city. Can't disagree with you bout the MT03. It's perfect for the city in anyway shape or form. Still I'm a fan of middle weight sportbikes. My Daytona 675R and the new bike that's stolen my heart the Aprilia RS 660. "Here's Why" idea: "Here's Why You Shouldn't Road Rage on Two Wheels."

Honda cb500x and kawi versys 300 probably better for the same job while offering long distance capability and comfort. I get 65mpg on 500x on regular basis in the city. The worst I ever got was 52mpg cruising at 70-75mph in some crazy wind.

OC I commute from Dallas, GA all the way up to Alpharetta, Ga, majority of my commute is spent on 285 and 400. My trusty ninja 300 has enough get up and go.

The Yamaha XT250 is the best city motorcycle. The XT is lighter, about the same price, taller to see over traffic, and you can use it for off road.

These days all I do is city riding, zero freeway/zero highway, so literally anything on 2 wheels and a motor above 150cc is enough to have fun, so even a scooter is enough. I usually take the longer routes with lots of turns and curves, so I wont rarely even get to hit 40mph lol.

OC: for me my commute is 95% highway so... I really think that the MT-03 is a FANTASTIC bike for new riders though!

OC: currently live in the Lindbergh area so do a lot of city riding, but only to get on the highway to get the heck out of the city.
