I would love to see you play a Space Engineers Homeworld Role Play from the Desert of Krack, to HW 1,and HW 2, with all of Armco vs everyone else.
That would be cool!
Desert of "krack" lol
8:41 The systems dialogue on these is always so majestic
17:41 Always a strong point of this saga
I've been avoiding watching the campaign anywhere else. I look forward to watching the whole thing here. Thank you for many years of excellent content.
Well you are not in for a treat.
@@XMysticHerox So I have heard, but I am willing to give it a chance. And given modern game design, my hopes have never been high on any modern game. I am rarely disappointed by a game. Only impressed b later improvements. like Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky. They need to get back to launching them completed, not screwing everyone they're trying to sell their game to.
On the plus side if you wait can get most games finished with dlc on sale for a reasonable price. And you don't feel like you missed out when you only miss a buggy mess.
@@franklynfischer5783Well, things are not really looking good for the game ir the franchise atm, going by general reception and sales so far, and the mobile game shutting down.
Speaking of cutscenes, I miss more the live action ones from the old C&C games, and wish more games would bring that back, like Alan Wake, Control, and Quantum Break, though that last one might have overdone it.
and as someone who plays Warframe, the phrase , ''Open the Door,' has a different meaning for me.
You also did a play-through of Deserts of Kharak, which was awesome. One of my favorite campaigns.
Whenever you get around to Emergence: it's a real weak effort in the update/compatibility department - you'll have to set any resolution about like, 720, via a registry key edit... Plenty of topics out there on the subject of exactly how, but wanted to let you know what my recent experience was like.
Not sure how I feel about everything else, but the subdued Adagio for Strings (as a Homeworld 1 homage) was very lovely.
Also, the sound design is absolutely stellar! I also appreciate the art direction - it feels very much like a logical continuation of the Remaster & Deserts of Kharak designs.
I don’t know how I’ve never heard a piano arrangement of that, but I need to find it. That was haunting.
Is engineering voiced by Nathan Fillion?
Sounds very Mal Reynoldsy.
I’m just happy for more Homeworld.
I totally agree I miss the old 2d cut scenes but they have done good job
I love watching you play this shack you one best players and you get up close so we see battle up close. Btw the open the door part? Remember that one time I think texfire was fixing the warforge engine and a ship started attacking and Tex was like flying to hanger telling you to open hanger bay to let it him in wail ship was getting hammered with missiles. That last open the door sounded like Tex lol 😂😂😂 man those was the days…
I am glad you are enjoying the game, this game could not possible live up to 20 years of expectations
I love the ships design,it reminds me of Chris Foss illustrations.👽
WOOOOO! New campaign playthrough! 🎉
Yes! Nice one Cap'n! 🍻
Thank you for doing this!
Oh hell yeah!! A homeworld campaign!!!
love how soban is still around
it's looks real good I'm getting it cheers
Every Homeworld Game has some sort of controversy... This time the campaign.. LOL
Every game has a controversy it seems.
And frankly it’s asinine.
The campaign was the controversy for the last two games too. It's like everybody thinks they know better than the writers what the series is about. Which is truly asinine. Religious themes are integral to the story similar to bsg.
The campaign was also the controversy for Homeworld 2 lol
@@jeezed2950 because we do
@@jeezed2950and you saying that doesn't make the campaign any less garbage
Woo we got a series now!
I am here to support Shack. Not so much the game. You broke my heart Homeworld 3.
Comment section is hilarious, keep doing you Shack
Welp time to go rewatch home world one and two
I do believe the first playthrough I watched was homeworld 2 I’m more than happy to do it again
OPEN THE DOOR! 35:32
I know a lot of people dislike this campaign and for good reason but out of all the home world villains the writing for this one is so bad it’s pretty funny some times
It begins again
This is like a movie in a game!
Every time the soundtrack plays I'm like. " I love this "
Is it just me or do those recon units look like the Normandy from mass Effect?
I miss the old cutsecene
be cool if we could do what the carrier did in space engineers so cool
Cataclysm is my 4 lights. I'll never accept Emergence.
Hi
Now watching this got me emotional, goosebumps galore thinking they nailed it in my opinion cannot wait to see how this campaign goes keep up with the great content bestest from Scotland
I heard it best this game looks like someone Googled what Homeworld was and made a sequel.
what were those massive orange ships around during systems testing?
Please look at the order in this playlist.
Wait, but couldn't ships ALREADY hyperspace through solid objects? Why say it's "impossible"?
It happened with deserts of Kharah with the excavation site having a large underground fleet.
THIS COMMENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOMEWORLD: I miss shacks xcom days I've probably watched it 3 times now.
I'm still stoked for homeworld tho 😊
Shack are you going to dive into the the new space engineers proxima beyond I'm watching beeblebum check it out looks good so far
Are you ever going to play x4 like a playthrough
The size scaling isn't correct. Depending on how you rotate around the mother ship the other ships look much larger than they should.
lol im EE working with crewchiefs
Yeah I... I dunno how to feel about this homeworld game
Loved the campaign honenstly. Thought it was a great escalation of stakes. The main villian is a crazy borg level threat imo. Glad you're playing it for a series. I'm excited to watch.
If i had a complaint it's that i liked homeworld 2's ship designs better.
Escalation can be good when executed properly, but this one was a bit lacking. I feel like there's been so much galaxy-ending threats in media already that an attempt to introduce another just makes people roll their eyes and sigh.
@@theovoldjopus4272 Wouldn't have minded the doomsday macguffin #15 if the actual story was good. But it's really not.
"Compartmentalizing now" 😭
SPACE
Okay onlyy this I’m going to ask is please stop talking during the voice lines
The art style feels different to
I still find the whole plugging in a person to be the ships computer to be super dark and sad, like can they ever come out and be a person again?
I'm gonna have to go back and watch your playthrough of the first game since I don't think finished it.
They're not supposed to be able to be unlinked, but they did a shot of Karan stepping off the ship at the end of HW1 and that lead to a whole load of weirdness in the sequels (minus Cataclysm, which sticks to the original intent).
so say we all
OPEN THE DOOR
Didn't the planet get glassed in the first homeworld?
How does this make sense?
The planet that got glassed was Kharak, the prison planet the Hiigarans were exiled to - getting to their original Homeworld was the plot of that game.
@@datonkallandor8687 oh that's right, it's been a long time.
i know a lot of people, including myself, where not happy with this game and its campaign
but
i promise to keep it positive from this point out
Gearbox won't fix what people stop complaining about
This fanbase thinks these games are supposed to be like star trek or something. It's much more like BSG. Religious themes and parallels are integral to understanding and appreciating the story. It's not always executed quite right though.
@@jeezed2950 ... no Homeworld has always been about the Lost Homeworld of Higarra, its people and legacy. Yes there has been religious themes, and characters, but they always been the backstory. What we got is a woke story about "not that bad female villains" that also doesnt answer its own questions, and pretty much just three people speaking.. nothing spetacular and little about the Higaraan people that I saved in HW1... It even breaks the HW lore... but that is a deeper discussion.
@@JackRalph96 They won't fix the story whatever happens. Maybe fundamental gameplay issues if they are generous.
@@Paisa231 Departing to a degree from previous games is one thing. Can be ok. I mean you don't want to keep doing the same thing again.
But the story is just hot garbage on it's own. It's not that it is character driven. Is that it is absurdly generic and badly executed character driven.
Second
NOT first!
I actually quite loved the story for homo 3 the characters are a lot better too in homeworld 1 and 2 they just felt a bit too dull stoic and cold I can agree that the plot for homo 3 is a bit questionable but the characters are definitely better with their emotions
Third?
First
I didn’t like this campaign… the story is very un-homeworld.
They said the same thing about DoK and homeworld
2. At some point you have ask yourself, do the people making the game understand their fucking games better than you? Answer is most likely yes.
If any game story was un-homeworld it was cataclysm, it was a spin off made by a third party. Great game and story though.
@@jeezed2950 bro cataclysm is peak homeworld
@@jeezed2950 Cataclysm was made by the people who wrote Homeworld 1 buddy.
Man is 100% a Gear Box Employee. Catcyslms story and gameplay is great. This story and gameplay is terrible.
@@commanderwookiecopc806 definitely
Oof, I feel bad for the audiencemembers who are going in blind, Shack included. Statistically, less than half of them are going to enjoy the game, if steam reviews are anything to go by. Steam reviews don't take into account people who don't buy the games, so the odds are probably worse than that.
I don't plan on torturing myself by viewing this series, but I would be interested in hearing Shack's thoughts after finishing the campaign. I don't think he'll have any trouble enjoying HW3, but it will still be very obvious how inferior it is to prior titles.
Absolutely horrible campaign especially the story

Whether you like it or not, religious themes are integral to understanding and appreciating it. However, I will not lie this games story had some problems in execution. The ending was a bit strange too.

Or they just genuinely liked the story. Not everyone judges the quality of a story in the same way. There's a reason a lot of shallow movies have tricked he majority of audiences into thinking they are deep using music, lighting, and pacing, despite the complete absence of rationality, empathy, or character development.
Definitely the weakest story in the Home world saga, and sadly, you can see the taint of agenda in it
You and your "agenda" posts. Trump's calling for you, boi.
What did they put in it ?
Game is bad. Wait for sale. Tactics just boils down to build all the things, spam everything. Random cutscenes during campaign frequently interrupt gameplay. "Future modding' should not be a consideration for buying a half ass game at full price.
or get cd keys half price too i have more of the problem for cheating AI
OK but even if they don't fix some of the problems themselves mods certainly will.
@@jeezed2950 With the reception the game has gotten, what makes you think anyone is going to stick around for mods?
Such a disappointment. Even research is just ‘there’, no interesting mechanic to unlock the technologies using progenitor tech or anything, we just have it immediately.
Best things about the game are the graphics/visual (except cutscenes, then seem…off) and the audio design. Everything else is meh.
Would love to hear your unsponsored review/views.
Bad game, Bad Story, Can’t change keybinds, DEI Envolvement, Not a homeworld game, only 40% of steam reviews are positive and the player base tanked massively after just one week of release.
Okay only thing I’m going to ask is please stop talking during the voice lines it’s difficult to understand anything by being said
