That would've been better than slapping a bunch of off model and random parts on a bored out engine that aren't even true to the car.

    • @randy22782
      @randy22782  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes it is a stock block. 75 block actually. I used the block girdle and aluminum crank caps to reinforce the bottom end. no block fill. with the amount of stroke you going for, you probably gona have to do some block clearance, and maybe consider some block fill......depending on the intended usage. If you do use block fill, make sure you add it BEFORE you do any boring or machine work!

    Nice setup! Hey can you tell me how the max wedge ports differ from my 6 pack intake? I am considering upgrading heads and they mention that they work best with max wedge style intake ports. Thanks man.

    • @randy22782
      @randy22782  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The max wedge ports are much larger than standard ports (906 heads). Its basically a port job. If you switch the heads to a high flow cylinder head (victor, indy, B1, etc...), you can run a 6 pack set up with no real issue, it just restricts the air flow compared to a high rise single plane intake. Some of them may require adapter plates to use the 6 pack intake so i would check with compatibility first. 906 heads (6 pack port size) are ok but I would definitely upgrade to the wedge. That's just me.

      Randy Latham Thanks for the reply. I was looking at possibly upgrading to the trickflow powerport 270’s I hate to abandon my six pack setup just yet. Any thoughts on those heads. I know you spent a good amount on your heads. Im gonna eventually do a build for an 8-71 roots.

    Randy, I see you just run the electric fans how are finding that? you said it doesn't run hotter than 200? will it idle even on a hot day and not get too hot? (I was thinking about just going electrical only on mine)

    • @randy22782
      @randy22782  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mike mikesbbody it will hold an idle just fine, but it does creep up to 210 on days 85 degrees and hotter. my biggest issue was using a billet crank pully that was too small. the set-up was intended for an electric water pump, I just never installed it. Also consider the amount of HP you plan on making (more HP= hotter engine). For me, 3-4 core radiator, electric water pump or a manual pump with a 1:1 pully ratio and electric cooling fans that pull at least 2,800-3000 cfm's. With this you should be fine.

    • @mikesbbody
      @mikesbbody 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Randy, thanks for your reply, I have a mild 440 which I hope to stroke into a 512 or even a 528 I have taken off my stock pulleys and, have a smaller crank pulley (March Performance) along with their W.P Pulley, I was wondering if it would affect the temp? for the longest time, my problem was the opposite (it would run too cool barely getting to 160 sometimes just 140) I changed the thermostat from a 160 to a 180 and it never gets any hotter than that. I have heard Strokers get a bit hotter what are your thoughts on this? Thanks Mike.

    • @randy22782
      @randy22782  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mike mikesbbody mike mikesbbody it could affect the temp, but it also depends on the overall combination of the engine. try to make sure the water pump and crank pully are the same size. two other factors I forgot to mention were a lean mixture (I never got around to changing the jets, even though it was on a BBC that made 700 HP on a dyno) and not running a thermostat. as far as strokers making more hear, keep in mind the thinner cylinder walls and high HP will make more heat but you'll be fine with a proper cooling system

    do you have to use a special intake for the victor style heads?

    • @randy22782
      @randy22782  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frigglebiscuit
      Nope. Standard style RB intake will fit just fine. I just went with a Victor intake for the sake of air flow.

    • @frigglebiscuit7484
      @frigglebiscuit7484 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      so if i put these heads on a "B" engine, i can use a "B" intake? i just thought the intake runners were extended.

    • @randy22782
      @randy22782  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are extended, but the mounting surface for the intake is also raised to accept standard RB intakes. Not to sure about the B engines. I would research it. I don't see why it wouldn't work though.

    Try a 1.7 rocker arm then check your piston to valve clearance because that don't sound right my brotha

    • @randy22782
      @randy22782  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      1.6 were perfectly fine, piston to valve clearance was perfectly fine. Engine wasn't even fully tuned at the time of filming. What you are hearing is a nasty exhaust leak from the #2 header exhaust port. This engine is long gone (4 years now) and the current owner loves it! That's all that matters.

      tubbed68cuda this was based on a package that already existed. Tested and proven (based on the package). Only thing missing was a dominator. The new owner says the car ran high 10's with more weight than my 69 RR. He is happy with the engine so that's all that matters to me.

    • @zxtenn
      @zxtenn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow, that was already more than powerful enough-I am 62 and when I was 20 I built a 67 Yenko clone Camaro, 427/425 with 456 gears and a 4 speed, back in those days it was a very fast car. Stroker engines were almost unheard of except for track or super wealthy and not very reliable either.. Those old cars like road runners had handling and braking issues so you had to be careful driving that old RR, that should have been an easy mid 11 second car with traction depending on gearing

    • @randy22782
      @randy22782  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jim dandy great to hear!!! I kept in touch with the owner of the new engine. Said it ran 10.70 in a all steel/all motor 69 coronet. He's pretty happy with it! Lol

    • @zxtenn
      @zxtenn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WOW, yes that's some seriously low ET, especially streetable..I was watching the new Demon vids and though its a mid to low 10 second car nobody has come close to the 9.65, regardless a mid to low ten off the floor is crazy. Things/technology sure have changed since the 60's and 70's, I remember a stock HEMI barely getting into the 13's maybe mid 13's in showroom condition Be interesting to see what you build next, something to be said for the older school vehicles

      Hellcats can't get enough traction to hang a 1/4 win. Plus their lard asses. By the time this cars 1.50 60 ft the hellcat will be blowing the tires off. Mopar f'd up building the hellcat, the chassis isn't great, no room for bigger tires & again there 4600-4800 pounds. Imagine losing 1500 pounds & having some traction, dipping in the 9.80s

    • @randy22782
      @randy22782  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Driver Jay not sure, I think they were hooker super comps, but I would recommend the TTI's. Much more straight foward with no fit issues what so ever. One header bolt on each side just wouldn't fit, that's why you can hear the exhaust leak in the video.
