  • Can you Paint your outdated wall tiles in your bathroom?! The answer is YES! In this episode of Bathroom Makeover on a Budget series, I am painting my outdated 90's tiles in my bathroom with a great success! The result is just stunning! I already painted my bathroom floors about 8-9 months ago using Rust-oleum RockSolid Home Floor Coating system and loved the result so much! My outdated slate tile bathroom floor transformed instantly to a contemporary concrete looking floor DIY! I knew it worked on the floor tiles wonderfully but I wasn't sure if it would work on Wall tiles! This product is designed specifically for floors and not for walls! Painting wall tiles in my bathroom would be a very budget friendly and time saving update in my outdated bathroom! So, last week, I took a risk and used floor tile paint on my wall tiles! The result was so great that I felt confident to apply it to my whole bathroom walls this week! I will be updating you guys how the paint holds up in about 6 months! Thank you for visiting!🧡🧡🧡

    • @WadaGoodIdea
      @WadaGoodIdea  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its definitely a better idea to use a paint specifically made for tiles! I used regular paint trusting that top coat would protect and so far so good and its been a while👍 Except the flat surface of the niches where water sits for a prolong time! Easy solution to that is just putting a piece of stone or tile over instead of painting!

    • @WadaGoodIdea

      Sorry to hear that! You either dont have adequate insulation in your walls or warm air is leaking out from somewhere! I would check the windows and doors and seal them well! If you have very cold wall you can consider putting up some reflectix over it! This is a budget solution of course the ideal thing is to get your walls insulated! Good luck!

    • @WadaGoodIdea
      @WadaGoodIdea  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Paint is still amazing and we use the shower everyday! The top coat is like a glaze over the tile protects really well! The only thing I would do differently though if you have a niche where shampoos are sitting and underneath stays wet I would put a piece of tile or a marble! Around the niche is fine just the bottom surface. Mine is cracked and its going to peel. But that doesnt even bother me I will just put a piece of white marble! I hope this doesn’t change your mind because my bathroom looks so amazing every time I enter I am so glad I did it🥰 Thank you for your question, you remind me to write an update comment after using the bathroom for three months!

    I was thinking to paint my bathroom but after seeing this finished well unfortunately it might save time and money but the Orginal tiles looked much better even if a few years old! This just looks like painted tiles that will definitely chiip off quite quickly on the floor and heavy wear areas! 4 coats of paint still alot of time and money and it looks terrible 😕 impossible to match Real Glazed or marble tiles with a few coats of paint! Obviously if on a real Budget and the tiles are really horrible it's definitely an option if that's all you have!

    Hate to break it to you but tits not a good idea to paint the tails where you shower. This paint is very thick and therefore it also "waterproof" meaning that you now have a sealed surface on top of the tiles and even worst you have painted the whole grout. And underneath the tiles you also have a sealed surface. This will lead to mould building up between these two surfaces.

    A bit confused, so you didn't use step 1 rustolum, intead you used Sherwin Williams paint, but you used step 2 of the rustolum as final touch?

      Yes, exactly! I used the step two which is the top coat!

    It looks like painted tile. If I were to walk into a home to purchase it, I would be like, no. Just no. A few nicks and that stuff is going to peel off.
