- Our Extreme DIY Bathroom Makeover on a budget is DONE! We can’t wait to build a new bathroom and eventually demo this one to turn it into our master bathroom, but until then at least this one is functional and CLEAN! This video is sharing how we’re bringing our 1960’s fixer upper into the current century with removing carpet from the bathroom, painting the bath tub, replacing the toilet, painting the floors, and fixing a bunch of plumbing issues.

Guuurrrlll!!!!! This is a fantastic transformation, even for a bathroom that you plan on redoing again later. But honestly, this is a great video because there’s so many people that can’t afford to do a full bathroom model makeover, but these are really great tips for trying to make it look as best as you can. Do not apologize for anything. These projects are difficult and hard work. Knowing the bathroom will be torn out sooner or later, it is difficult to care how well this temporary project turns out. You did a great job! I applaud you for your efforts!
Those metal anchors from the towel bars, you just take a screwdriver and knock them through to the other side, then spackle the wall. Great makeover!! I remember those young married days!

I loved the yellow color too! Everyone has their own taste though. It seems like she could have saved herself so much trouble if she'd just scrubbed the whole room down with bleach, and it would have been sufficiently clean. But it's good to see how she did it.
My maternal grandmother had all her kitchen in yellow, fridge, stove, dish washer, cabinets, She aced it!
Unbelievable how much better the bathroom looks. As a retired military wife, I understand your frustration. We didn't makeover a house but lived in military housing where you had to make the best out of the situation. Congrats on you second pregnancy and move. You guys are rocking it.💚
Allison, why are you saying it’s not the greatest makeover? Compared to what you started with, it looks like a new bathroom! Love the paint color! Sage green colors are always my favorite and first choice for paint colors. I’ve used the same type of epoxy kits to paint the bath tub in two different houses, and have been really happy with the results. Your new house is turning into your new home right in front of our eyes!💜💜💜

@@alice4217 I was very happy with how the finish held up. I was going to replace the tubs (2 different houses, couple of years apart.) and when I did replace them, the finish was still holding up. I never tried it on tiles, but I’ve seen it done, and the results were pretty good.
I have the exact same 50-year-old yellow tub, tile, and sink with the addition of ugly orange flowered, 70s wallpaper!!!! Determined that this is the year I will do something about it! Thanks for the inspiration, as I cannot afford for a professional to do it.
I totally get your obsession with the green color🤩 I think that that was my favorite part of this makeover, how the green added more character to the room😊

For future references I suggest using Zep mildew mold and stain remover. This stuff you guys is AMAZING! It's strong, yet mighty. I spray this stuff on and and it melts any dirt, grime, grease. I let it sit for about 5 minutes and rise and follow up with warm soapy water. This stuff removed all the dirt from my walkway in front of my house. I couldn't believe it. It's sold everywhere. Recently I found it ij the 3 dollar aile at dollar tree. 😊
ZEP products are great. I used it to remove years and years of floor wax build-up on dental chair bases. I believe it was the heavy-duty floor cleaner variety. Sprayed it on, let sit, and scrubbed with a brush. Worked like a charm.

I would’ve gut the entire bathroom with new toilet, tub, and sink with cabinet. That stuff around the bottom of tub gave me the shivers. Oof!!

Man, it seemed like there were 20 walls in this bathroom! Lol The bathroom looks great! I've attempted to caulk on, at least, 3 or 4 occasions and I never got the hang of it. I had tons of advice but it never came out well. So kudos to Chris on his caulking skills. Looks a lot better than anything I ever did!
You'd be amazed at what you can do to an older bathroom in order to give it an updated look. We moved into a 1960's mid-century modern brick ranch. The main hallway bathroom was horrible! It had a faux wood rolled vinyl floor, a very dated vanity with a huge mirror that covered the entire wall and a very large linen closet. Fortunately, the previous owners had replaced the blue bathtub and toilet with new white fixtures and the pink tile work with plain white. It still looked like a leftover from the 70's. Using a bonding primer, and after much prep-work on the floors and removing the large mirror, we turned it into a fresh, updated modern farmhouse style bathroom by replacing the faucets, towel bars, toilet paper holder with new matte black ones. We tiled the floor with pop flip peel and stick squares that look like old fashioned white with black accent penny tiles, painted the walls an off white & the trim and ceiling a bright white, added ship lap and two apothecary style matte black mirrors that I got on clearance as well as matte black light fixtures and clearance nautical decor from Hobby Lobby. My total cost was $1,387.98! The room is fresh and up to date and we love it!
Excellent job. I always say that painting is so necessary. It not only spruces up a space, breathing new life into it. But it also is sanitizing. Killing germs on walls, ceilings and the floors that we can't see. So pleased with the outcome of your project. Being scammed by contractors, I know all to well.

We did a similar temporary redo on our master bathroom. Paint & a proper height toilet helped get us thru till the spring when we finally had the parts & the contractors could come in to remodel!

This is hands down the most realist makeover I've seen on TH-cam. My bathroom sink & floor are blue, and I've been looking for ways to change them besides the stick n peel tile. I imagine this is because so much of DIY and Makeover trends lately is for these catalog expensive boutique hotel aesthetics. You said this was a quick fix and wanted to do it on a reasonable budget. My maternal grandparents had a yellow kitchen, the appliance, with spin-around built-in drawers/cabinets. And a yellow rotary phone, it was pretty! Tea-cup designed wallpaper(her sister had the same wallpaper!) 1950's raised ranch house. Very nice! Brick!
Our bathroom had glass doors(tub), I had to be very careful! It was lovely!

This gave me a great idea for my small bathroom, similar layout, but previous owners put a small sink vanity in the opposite wall of the bathtub which the door opens into it, making the space so much smaller. There is an enclosed closet on the end of the tub (door access in hallway). I can rip out the closet, enclose the door and put the sink there! Glad this came up on my feed! My house is 75 years old, only one bathroom potential and we are old now, might need walker accessibility!
