    After 3 years of eating whole foods and living in the "goiter belt" with not eating much salt and lots of kale I developed a goiter. It was cured in a week with Lugol's iodine. I didn't eat raw or even juice but still developed goiter with eating steamed kale salad everyday. Not saying its bad but supplementing with iodine isn't the worst. Especially if your live in the "goiter belt". But it is 2018 and we probably all live with iodine deficient soil. God bless take care

    What is your strategy for buying fruit when you live somewhere where you can't get fresh fruit out of season? I've been very frustrated with the selection of ripe fruit this past season so I've stopped stocking up with fruit to snack on. Is frozen fruit the next best option?

    Dr. Rick evaded the question about combining fruits and fats. He said numerous times that’s fats and greens are excellent combination. However, we want to know, fats and fruits + how well do they go together or aren’t they ??.?
    Unfortunately, with my severe IBS - just at the thought of cauliflower, my stomach gets bloated 😩

    I’m curious as to how you prevent the body from becoming too cold. According to the Easter medicine practitioners I see (TCM herbalist and acupuncturist) from all my raw food intake (among other reasons) my organ function is sluggish and cold. I won’t go into too much detail but I really want to continue with my raw vegan lifestyle but not have the poor digestion or organ function. Does the book cover any of that? Thanks!

    Also, how do men & women raise *Testosterone *with foods on raw plant based diet? My ND now put me on T-injections. Ugh. Is it herbs or more fat I need?

    • @kalem007
      @kalem007 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Research herbs that increase Test ...
      Ginseng (panax schinseng) - "In women, Ginseng is known to produce testosterone; therefore its use for them is not recommended over long periods. It's more of a nourishing herb for men but does have use for women, especially for the brain and memory centers."
      Sarsaparilla - "bark and root aid the body in producing greater amounts of the anabolic (without oxygen) hormones, testosterone (which is a hormone that will induce hair to grow), & progesterone."
      Yohimbe - "a Testosterone precursor, Yohimbe is an effective body builder. It is a hormone stimulant and is a strong athletic formula herb where increased testosterone is needed."
      Quotes taken from 'The Little Herb Encyclopedia' by Jack Ritchason
      again I highly recommend you to do your own research before taking anything or listening to a ND. Most of them don't know what they're doing unfortunately...

    I can't eat a lot of fructose; for some reason, it causes my body to raise its uric acid and blood pressure, even if I eat perfectly low fat, 80-10-10 style. Why would that happen? I would love to hear Dr. Dina's (and John's) take on this. I respect them both very much. Also wonder if Dr. Dina is taking patients right now. Great video, as always, John. Looking forward to the Summit and to more videos! Thanks so much.

    What is your thought about grains, John?

    • @okraw
      @okraw  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There are pros and cons to grains. I personally eat very few grains in my diet.
      Im not a big fan of hybridized grains that differ from their heirloom counterpart
      Im not a fan of non-organic grains that can be sprayed with chemicals for "ripening" that have been shown to probably cause cancer
      Im not a fan of grains that have been highly fractionated into flour and processed heavily to remove some of the essential elements
      I personally would rather eat more fresh garden vegetables, and fruits.
      the more grains you eat, the more you displace other foods you can be eating.
      We are not ment to optimally digest grains, and should not have a grain based diet IMO.

    • @dj-fe4ck
      @dj-fe4ck 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      alper koc Every whole grain is better than raw nuts and seeds and avocadoes. For wheat, I would probably only eat organic, and only non-gmo corn. You can also eat potatos if you don't want grains. More starch is better than more fat.

    • @worldtraveler007
      @worldtraveler007 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stefan Puzic Simply put, a cavity is a hole in the tooth caused by tooth decay. It's the result of harmful bacteria digesting the sugar in foods and producing acids.So,it's not from the acid in the food but the sugar that starts the chain of events.You can disagree if you like but my dentist agrees with me.Take care ✌

    going from mostly raw to totally raw plant diet is more a religious exercise than science. There is no widely accepted nutritional study that supports totally raw food diet. Many phytonutrients are more bioavailable after cooking such as lycopene and carotenoids. some of the world's healthiest and longest lived populations ate cooked yams and beans and/or whole grains. All of this advocacy from Rick Dina DC is cheerleading and not science based advice. Mostly raw is great, totally raw had no added benefit and misses out on many healthy cooked plant foods.

    • @mayploy6869
      @mayploy6869 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Newf Guy We ate only raw food for a large portion of our history. How are we here? How do cows survive? Monkeys? They aren't cooking their food! Oh no!

    • @newfguy1826
      @newfguy1826 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      May Ploy you are correct. I am not saying total raw is unhealthy but rather there are many very healthy cooked vegetables, legumes, grains, tubers etc. there is no evidence that total raw is superior

    • @mayploy6869
      @mayploy6869 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Newf Guy there is evidence but it is not widely supported by science because science is an industry that doesn't make money off of it. It makes money off of research that leads to medication, and makes the animal agriculture and petrochemical industries happy. There WILL eventually be enough research to support it, but I for one don't want to wait for an industry not concerned with our best interests to catch up with what is already self evident.
