Mazdaspeed 3 really deserved to be on this list as damn near the fastest at 5.3 seconds in 2007

Gregory Kanniard in 2004 the neon srt4 did 0-60 in 5.3 seconds.
InTheCorners 944 professionals have it at 6.0 for the srt4

@@lollol-xp4mc motor trend and other car enthusiasts had the 05 at 6 seconds flat for a 0-60 and a 1/4 mile at 14.2 at 100.8 mph. Not trying to argue I’m just gonna go with a credible source not some bootleg site where you can personally enter in times for cars (fastestlaps, etc)

I came here to see where the Mazdaspeed3 ranked and it's not even on here and now I'm trying my best not to dislike.

V6 Altima Coupe, V6 Accord Coupe, Mazdaspeed 3, Pontiac G6 GXP...all faster than the Eclipse.
the Eclipse 3.8 is rated to 155mph, and to get there its a miracle. even its "predecessor" the 3000GT SL was doing that on the papers back in the mid 90's.
and stock i did 161mph with mine (though with rims a quart of the weight and 20 year newer tires that what i came with from factory...)
but Mazda 3 MPS is strange missing together with Saab 9-3 Viggen
altima coupe isnt faster than a eclipse GT, and only the late 2013+ v6 accord coupes are faster than the eclipse. Doesn't matter though since those cars are almost more than double the price of the eclipse
The Altima isn't that quick. The Maxima is quicker than both the Altima and the Eclipse.

Could've been filling the gaps of unavailibility of the Civic Type R. An alternative. The American manufacturers could've create alternatives for things that Americans couldn't have for 25 years.
Which one is your favorite one? I would the Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy-R any day. And little clarification: all these in the video are meant fastest in terms of 0-62 (0-60) mph acceleration, not top speed.

So glad the SRT4 was included. It is usually left out despite being one of the fastest factory fwd cars ever built. Additionally that exhaust sound believe it or not was stock. They would spit fire from the factory. Very cool cars.

The 2008-2010 Cobalt SS is still one of the most underrated and overlooked cars out there. I loved the hell out of mine and regret selling it everyday.
Totally missed the Mazdaspeed 3. It's a much better sports car in a lot of ways than others on this list, too.

Dodge Neon SRT-4 was actually 2003-2005. Funny that one of the fastest of this selection is also the oldest, as well as the least expensive.

The Volvo S60 T6 fwd (4-cyl) does 0-100km/h in 5.7 with the polestar pack.

toysareforboys getting wheel hop in front put stiffer springs in the rear and shift some of the weight over the front wheels and lower the front tyre pressure if it starts to shudder .

the Eclipse is such an underrated car, its actually 5.6 0-60. when I first got mine wasn't that happy, I wanted an STI but then I got some good tires, coilovers, Cold Air Intake and a tune. I love my car, more than happy with it. It made 310whp with 320tq and it is fast. I have done 158mph on Puerto Rico roads, that aren't very long and good as US highways. I think the top speed is now like 172. The 3.8 responds great to performance and to abuse, it is very torquey and I would recommend this car anyone. It really is a bang for the buck.

You guys forgot the Mazdaspeed 3. The engine is such high grade and can produce much more power with bolt ons. Smh visionracer
ehh, the engine is okay but it's limited to 400ft-lb of tq before it goes boom. It does react well to mods though.
+We're All Thieves 400 is almost double the wheel torque of the stock MZR so I'd consider that pretty good. Lol. Same story with Evo 10, the ej in Subaru line up. I'm sure there's some people with more than 400tq in those cars with stock internals, but it's not anymore reliable than in a speed. It should have been on the list no doubt.

+ALiDiDiT if you're on stock engine internals and over 400ft-lb of tq you're gonna have a bad time. Fuel pump internals should be upgraded before any mods but once you have them it's the rods that go if you're over and/or have a bad tune.

I had a 96 sunbird with a 3.1 with a multi port FI and a 5 speed when I was in high school. That car was pretty fast. Good looking car too. Factory ground affects and the flip up headlights, one of the most reliable cars I've had

My first car was a 2006 Chevy Cobalt Ls and the first thing did to it was put a 3 inch exhaust tip on it and it sounded pretty good for a four cylinder.

Because it is based on VW Golf or better the VW MQB Platform. So new Beetle, Jetta, Golf, TT, A3 most Skoda or Seat models are all the same. VW has only one real RWD Platform for Porsche Panamera and Bentley Continental which are starting from 1800kg.
It's a Golf underneath. Here in Europe we have three FWD models: 1.8 TFSI, 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI; 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI had AWD as an option; 3.2, S and RS models had/have AWD as standard.

The current OPC Astra has 280 BHP and is fast as hell. Also the current OPC Corsa has 204 BHP. I drove both recently and they should certainly be on the list.

Current GTI Clubsport (the fastest one) does 0-62 in 6.0 secs so it wouldnt quite make the list. However the R does it in 4.9 secs but thats 4 wheel drive.
the fast hatch would be a ford however veedub and honda are close behind.

+wes roller it was really built for reliability more than HP. Its a 5.3L truck motor. You can't get crazy amounts of power out of them for very little money, but front wheel drive in general isn't worth putting much money into because you'll never have the grip of RWD or AWD no matter what you do

I'm not disappointed. I'm not surprised. My 2000 Chevy Blazer with a few simple bolt ons took down my friend's Mazdaspeed3 at the nearest drag strip. Told me he was gonna spank me and lost instead by half a car length. Lol. 3 races, each about the same.

The Dodge SRT-4 was in production from 2003 to 2005 not 04 to 05, just thought I would put it out there.
Alot of that axle tramp in powerful front drivers can be almost eliminated by using poly urethane engine mounts, loved the video!

I miss my old 4G Eclipse GT. Dynoed at 300 HP, cold air intake, full length headers, 3 in exhaust with high flow cat, tuned, with weight dropped to 3200 lbs. That was a fun and fast budget car.
I just bought one today they are lot faster than I thought pretty impressive actually

Shout out to the 4G Eclipse. Few inaccuracies though. The model was produced from 2006-2012. It started with 263hp, but was bumped up to 265 after the 2009 refresh (dual exhausts were added) 0-60 was measured at 6.1s according to Car & Driver and the top speed was limited to 135mph. Otherwise, it's a criminally underrated car and responds very well to bolt-ons. Over 300whp NA with a tune is not uncommon.
Although you had the Scirocco R listed, I'm surprised you didn't have the GTI with the performance pack here. That car is just as quick as many of the ones here. But the list here was still good.
