Hey bro,you missed out 2JZ,RB26,4G63 or Mazda 13B Rotary, also Audi's VR6 is also very good for making tons of power.Last to say the BMW S54 is also one of the most reliable BMW Inline-6 engines ever built. All of these engine can produce 1000 hp and above
yeah but even i know when talking about engines car guys may not know you don't mention 2jz or RB but what do I know, I only have done few engine rebuilds :(
It should noted that there are like 100 different Honda K series motors of various sizes, valve trains, and outputs. Numerous 2L versions, 2.4L versions, there's even a 2.3L in there somewhere.
also im still sad he didnt reference the l15a/b engines some of the newer ones could rev to 8000 rpm and i could see it has a big potential sine even with stock blocks it could touch 450 ish hp(the engine only had 117 or less hp)
I really would add the Volvo 2.3 turbo from the 850 T5R (among other Volvo,s ). And the 2.0 turbo (T5) from Saab. A T5 from saab made till 1999 can take up to 500bhp without any adjustments to the motor, and is relative cheap in upgrade parts.
Did you happen to watch that TV program where Jimmy de Ville tuned one of these engines and put it in a hill climbing vehicle? (not sure of the exact name for the sport but they drive them up quarry sides) That thing was a beast.
Just commented the same thing. The T5 is one of the best engines built EVER and should definitely be on this list. Damn near bulletproof, easy to fix, and like you said 500hp on the stock block. Though anything above 300hp and you really do need injectors, which is no biggie.
the injectors where just one item that had to be upgraded for my whole turbo conversion. Also with all the other upgrades (apart from the engine) i don,t think i have an original bolt left in my car..:)
hahahaha you see why you should save Audi's for last? they're the perfect ending, and BTW, the 1.8T 20V engine was developed entirely by Audi for racing, the engine block can resist up to 1000hp in it stock form, and for last, thank you for showing another engine that I had and loved, the 3S-GE. Keep up the good work!
Also, you can boost a lot more than 6psi on some old Miata 1.6 engines. They all had cast iron blocks but some early engines had forged internals as well. A carry-over from the 323 turbo.
Most people know about most of these motors... seriously the LS motor made the list? I was hoping to see the Buick 3800 on the list but I guess no one actually knows about those motors
Came NA and supercharged. Came in 3 gens, or 3 "serieses." Series 1 NA came with very little power, and SC version came with an Eaton M62 made only about 210 bhp. Series 2 and series 3 aren't much different. Series 2 NA (L36) (L26 for series3) came with 9.4:1 bottom end, still pretty strong for boost, block is likely good for 500 whp on stock bottom end. Made about 205 bhp out of the factory. The supercharged motors (L67 for Series 2, L32 for series 3) came with eaton M90, L67 came with a Gen3 M90 and L32 came with a GenV M90 (more efficient). The compression ratio on these are 8.5:1, very suitable for boost and good for well beyond 600+ whp. The L67 (by this I strictly mean the series 2 motor, the series 1 SC motor was also referred to as "L67") cars put out 240 bhp and the L32 cars with the more efficient blower and a slightly different exhaust put out about 265 bhp. In dyno results there's only about maybe 5-10 whp difference as most stock L67 cars dyno in at 200ish whp and L32 cars at 205-210 whp. For the cars that came with these motors look at wiki, but are Wbody Buick Regal GS, 6th gen Grand Prix, Wbody Impala SS, also very popular swaps on open wheel race cars and an extremely popular swap on the Pontiac Fieros (I suggest you look those up, it makes the Fiero a true mid engined sports car) that give the Fieros an awesome power-weight as in stock form makes 210+ whp (Fiero swapped 3800s have much shorter exhausts) and weighing in at around 2800-2900 lbs.
VisioRacer Yes Eaton is the manufacturer for the blowers that a lot of Fords use, the old Tbird had the same M90 blower as the 3800 Supercharged cars do. The M112 is another popular blower used in the Mustang that a lot of people used to swap into the 3800s. However for big power, the Eaton M90 blower is undesirable as maxed out M90 cars make maybe 325-350 and I believe the most powerful M90 3800 is maybe like 390 whp. The motor is very capable but the roots style blower is just not ideal for power. Most high powered people are turbo'd, there are a couple of twin screw style Whipple blower cars I suggest you look those up, they have a very high pitched whine to them so look up Whipple Grand Prix or whipple 3800 for those cars, they generally produce about 500ish whp with those blowers.
I vote the Buick 3800, all of them. notably the L67 and the 3800 I (L27) those love boost in stock form. Super popular to turbo here in Australia, reliable on 15-20 psi and makes close to 500hp on a stock engine. Good fuel like E85 or avgas can be reliable at bit over 30 psi. They boost a lot better than the L67 or the L36 due to the stronger pistons/rods and super long rods and deck. But once after market in consideration the 3800 II (L67/L36/L26/L32) wins hands down.
The LS can be like a 2JZ in the United States, but if we consider the rest of the world, like Europe, Asia etc. (excluding Australia, too), those motors ain't very common on these markets and the majority of cars with LS engines are imported. And very few people do so.
Chevy LS are you kidding me? That made the list?? What about the Saab b204l? Can hold over 600whp on a bone stock motor easy! One of, if not THE, most capable 4cyl motors in existence... And it tunes via stock ecu and canbus with a free tuning tool called t5suite. You really didn't do your research...
m200mw Holy shit... There's a volkswagen 1.8T and the Miata's 1.6 engine and you bitch about one of the most sought after engines for a swap? How about you do some research for a change. Better yet, get some experience under the hood.
A B235R owner here- You are totally right, A saab tuned engine can beat anything you trough at it. You should watch the video called "NordicTuned Saab 9-3 vs all"
Definitely needed to have the volvo white whiteblock t5 engines on the list. Great i5 turbo noises and can be tuned into monsters without to much difficulty. Found in 850 t5 t5r 850r and the s60 and c30
300hp is nice, but 'most easily tunable' goes to the 1.8l turbo of Volvo 4x0 first (up to 1992) series: they produce only 8 kW more than the naturally aspirated ones with 80kW, despite turbocharger, intercooler, natrium valves, oil cooler, piston oil cooling. And that is because they have been factory tuned by Porsche but afterwards new emission regulations cut in and required to reduce the power. Simply increase the turbo pressure by re-adjusting the waste gate and you get 160hp instead of 120 and nobody knows about it. Mine lasted 350000km and it was not the engine that failed (but I did no stock car racing, just using the extra power in normal traffic). After 1990 at least the natrium valves where missing and the electronics controlled the turbo pressure.
I am honestly floored that the Saab 2.0 T5 engine is not on this list. With just a turbo upgrade and retune, close to 300hp. New injectors and bigger turbo and it is good up to 500hp on the stock block. Reliably 500hp.
Thank you yet again for an awesome and interresting video!! I have just bought myself an audi A4 with the 1.8 5v turboquattro. Such an amazing car and even this has a huge tuning potential!
over here in the states the chevy small block 350(5.7L) is super common in any drag or sports car, its like the grandfather of the LS, and they make every part under the sun for it "In all, over 100,000,000 small-blocks (as of November 29, 2011) have been built in carbureted and fuel injected forms since 1955" - Wikipedia
The 1.8T engine first debuted in 1996, in the VW Golf, Passat, Skoda Octavia, and the Audi A3,A4 and A6. It's use was then extended to the Audi TT ( the base engine ), the Skoda Superb, the VW Eos, and the Polo GTI ( the smallest car that received this engine. ) It is still being produced today, in the form of the 1.8TFSI that develops 160 bhp. The 150 bhp of the 1.8T could be tuned by 3 stages ( to 200, 250, and 300 bhp ). 300 bhp is the limit of this engine, on stock internals. For safety reasons, 275 bhp is about the limit.
that golf from 7:26 sounded awfully.... as for the 1.8turbos, its a shame people didn't took care of them (maintenance done periodically) that's why some call them unreliable ☹️
I’m surprised the 4B11T motor from the Evo X and Lancer Ralliart didn’t make the list. Easily tunable with a free computer program and a specific cable
Even though an engine makes the most power at redline, doesn't mean you should hit the limiter. Hitting the limiter means no acceleration. Shifting a splitsecond before the limiter is always faster.
Don't judge by few videos. Some of them like to hit the redline, some of them had slow reaction before they shifted. The theory you mentioned is worldwide known and makes perfect sense. I suppose the other guys who responded to you just thought you thought about shifting just at redline or very close to it.
Ironically enough it's probably because they've never heard of them :) Throw a few grand at them and you can push out some crazy kw with just a tune, intake, exhaust and injectors
thedog556 10 of the top 10 fastest 6 cylinder engines in this universe are 2jz with the most powerful one making near 3000hp on factory block and head ,the Barra is good but it's really that good
thedog556 the Barra isn't even the best 6 cylinder in Australia it's the rb30 but you were touting that the Barra is best in the world and I provided a proven fundamental counter argument. 1000 Barra as a daily great but there are 1500hp 2jz running as dailys and there is surely more 1500hp daily 2jz engines than 1000hp daily Barra engines. a Barra can't reliably do 1000hp on stock internals and a 2jz can. the Barra might have been better if it gotten to America but it will be totally discontinued in a couple years and fade into obscurity where it belongs
Realtime1501 Barra in Stock form with just a proper tune will make more power than a stock 2jz with a proper tune. Your argument failed just there. 2 small turbos vs 1 bigger turbo. 2jz fail Barra for the win. And then as soon as you go with basic mods the Barra will make more power on stock internals than a 2jz can dream of. And it will be more reliable in the long run. Don't get me wrong I love the Japanese RB'S and JZ'S but they can't match the Mighty Barra! But you clearly don't know anything about the Barra and what came before the Barra to make it as good as it is. The best N/A I6 engine ever AU XR6 VCT is the gran daddy of the Barra. Plenty of them do over 1mil km without ever opening the motor!! Tickford engineering at its best before they name changed to Prodrive. Google Prodrive and Subaru. Still want to talk shit about the Barra? Go ahead entertain me....
Realtime1501 3000hp 2jz lmao!! It does one run and the motor needs a complete over haul. You can make anything fast if you throw enough money at it. Damn Nissan has a la mans motor 3 cylinder 1.5L it makes 700hp!!!
Got the Vw 1.8T 20V in my Golf Mk4 GTi. Bigger intake, upgrade turbo, bigger injectors, 3" Exhaust and Tadaaaaaa 300HP and 400Nm of torque. It's real fun to drive it.
Something worth mentioning in this is Saabs B204/B234 engine line(In-line fours, 2.0L and 2.3L)! I am pushing 700hp atm on 2.0T stock internals. Stock Trionic 5 ECU can be pushed beyond 900+hp! I use the newer Trionic 7 and holds the record. Basic mods can take you beyond 300hp with ease.
I think an easily tuneable engine should be an engine that responds really well to n/a power or boost while remaining with the stock block. For that reason I don´t really think the FA20 is a "easily" tunable engine, considering the high compression and "weak" bottom end. It doesn't really respond to n/a power and to go boost its not optimal without a built engine. Otherwise great list as usual, keep them coming :D
The FA and FB engine is Subaru's decision as they need to replace the older EJ engine which serviced all their cars for 20 years. The FA and FB uses chain driven camshafts to make the head assembly smaller when compared to the belt driven camshaft. Subaru engine comes with various version of the same engine like one that is turbo charged and NA form. So most turbo parts and piping are mostly bolt on.
Still the Fa20D while it is compact, it has a lot higher compression than the turbo FA20( FA20F), so while its true it is easy to install, i don't think it responds that well to boost, compared with other engines. Other problem is the "weak" transmission that limits the hp. I really like the car and the engine I just think that its not "easily tuneable", since you need turbo, piping, intercooler, ecu, injectors,exhaust... With these kinda mods most sport cars engines do what the fa20 does, or better when it comes to hp.
Its a shame most people don't give these cars their proper value, mostly because a brand new clio rs in the hands off any intermedium driver would be faster at the track. Still old cars just make you happy when you drive them :D
SBA volk the clutch do need to be replaced. But so far most of the Subarus with high power EJs didnt need to change the gearbox. The boxer layout is meant that the engine is more compact than conventional engines and have a lower center of gravity for less body roll
the ea888 is awesome. mine got from 230 to 400hp with a more extensive tuning. however, only mounting the IS38 would be enough for 350hp. i would also mention the GM Z20LEH. used in the opel opc/vauxhall vxr astra H and zafira B around 2006. base power 240hp and torque 320Nm/235lbft. gets to 275hp with ECU tuning and quickly above 300hp once the hardware is modified. heavier modification including forged pistons and rods, 3 inch exhaust, intake manifold, intercooler, cams and any turbo that fits gets you above 400hp easily. mine is at 340hp :)
Nice video ! Another engine that you can reach nice numbers is VW AP , that is found in Vw Gol ( Gol , not Golf ) , Parati , Saveiro and Voyage . Thoose cars were sold in USA as Fox Sedan and Fox Wagon. There is one putting more than 1200 hp , its a Four cyl . We have 8 , 16 and 20 valves headers . The 20 v is a header swap from the Audi/Volks 1.8 20v
Prepping Canada I'd love to do a ITB 2.4 at some point, not for power reasons but sound alone (never seen anyone do a fuel injected ITB build on a inline-5). Been thinking about running the Volvo/Yamaha connection, lower C30 intake with 5 R1 throttle units... all dreams ofc :D
+VisioRacer make a video of the VW engine wich is AP alta performance (high performance), too much mode here in brasil, 1.6, 1.8(more used) and the 2.0 bazillians put 1000+ HP in this engines. excellent video
some more info for you on the 2.2T 20v engine of audi. put in H profile rods and a different clutch , turbo, injectors, fuel pump and a remap and they can make 500+. ive seen s2's hit 600 horsepower on stock rods. engine and pistons can handle over a 1000 hp. even intake can flow around 700 horsepower. they are some of the most underrated audi engines people seem to miss. robust as hell and oldskool laggy. but when that boost comes on its a killer. this little 2.2 litre can kick ass. i dont see the new Tfsi's pull this off.
There are plenty of cheap Audi A4's you can get with the 1.8T. A decent one will cost you about 1500-1700 Euros with some slight dents and scratches on the exterior. A mint one will put a bigger dent in your pocket though. Low mileage ones in perfect condition can go for twice as much as ones with higher miles and visual defects, although high mileage isn't a problem for this motor IF properly maintained.
Jester Farrusco Hmm, those are pretty rare over here, but a quick search got me to one that costs about 1500 Euros. Honestly though, I don't know much about them, so I can't say whether it would be a good one at that price. As far as Audi goes, the looks are down to personal preference. I like the B6 wagon, but prefer the B5 as a sedan (that little kink in the trunk makes me very happy for some reason), but the engine is a great one, that is undeniable.
What also is great abot the EA 888 is, even with upgrades to between 4 and 500hp it has very little lag because it has very tight gas channels through the head which make the Turbo run full boost below 2000rpm no problem
what you thing of mazda BPZE? (is the 1.8L ingine version of mx5) I believe is more similar to BPT engine (323 turbo) sorry for my bad english and thanks for your videos
That Toyota MR2 engine just seems to go on forever. I have a friend who has an MR2 Turbo that was at one point putting out around 500HP, but it was pegged back to a little less than that due to problems and yet it still went like stink.
VisioRacer Yeah, I know the struggle. And because of this, people are spreading misinformation, because they compare dry weights with wet weights or with ancillaries and without. For example, there was a running myth that the BMW M20 may be very similar in weight to the M52, but the reality is that there is quite a difference between the two. Someone weighted them in very similar conditions and the difference is ~20kg in favor of the M52. Adding the gearboxes difference, there's an additional 10kg. 30 kg removed from the nose are noticeable.
Mazda had the MZRL3vdt 2.3 turbo 4Cyl from the MazdaSpeed 3 and 6 (MPS in Europe)Very tunable. Came stock with. BOrg Warner Ko4 turbo. The Cummins in-line 6 diesels are a notable mention. Lastly, Nissan KA24DE did very well with boost being iron block and low compression.
Audi 200 20v turbo quattro. They came in the sedan and avant body styles and were available from 1989 through 1991. In the US they were only available in 1991. The stock 2.2 3b 5 cylinder engine made 217 hp and 228 tq. Similar engines can be found in the RS2, S2, ur-quattro 20v, sport quattro, and the C4 S4's.
Great list. However I hate those TSI engines. I hate their exhaust note especially. That fake 'crackle' on gear changes is horrid. Sorry, just my opinion.
small suggestion: mercedes m111. was built into c, e and clk class and with a stock power output of mere 163hp and 240nm. you could easy double the output with just a few minor mods on the supercharger and the ecu.
a lot of these are no secret. K motors have been the standard for Honda tuners for years. the VW/Audi 1.8t is probably one of the most popular tuner platforms in Europe and is very popular here in the US too, though holy cow is the 1.8t a money pit of an engine, I had an '02 GTI that cost more to keep running than the damn thing was worth. LS motors are simply amazing and surprisingly cheap.
I'm surprised the VR6 is not on here. It's NA with only 200-250hp but people commonly make 5-600hp with only adding a turbo system and components, head spacers, and ARP headbolts. The factory internals are forged and it's incredibly strong because the original design was meant to be a diesel. It's like the most commonly swapped engine in the VW/Audi community; in fact it's common to see B5 S4's with a swapped turbo VR6 instead of the original twin turbo V6. USP motorsports has a VR6 swapped S4 with ~800whp I think, that competed in the world finals of some drag series last year. Most people know all the engines listed, not sure how you could overlook whats argued as best engine VW ever made.
i've seen Volvo B23/B230 (Volvo 240/740/940) engines push over 400hp on stock internals... forged bottom ends to make them durable also means they're able to handle a ton of boost.
That was the 2.3-litre VR5, not 2.5L I5 and also not 1.8 TSI, rather than 1.8T 20V. The 1.8 TSI is completely different motor and Passat or Golf never had other five-cylinder than the VR5.
VisioRacer buddy, I literally have a Passat with a 2.5 in it that is I5 I can send you picture, and my friend has gold with same thing, I'm talking about america
I think I know that, I suppose that I just don't have the knowledge about US VW motors as you do. Sorry for my rudeness. Is the 2.5L I5 any good for tuning? Just asking
Alot of these engines on this list are pretty well known, especially LS, like half the comments say. Alot of engines are missing, no GM 3800, alot of saab and volvo engines are missing(most already mentioned in comments). Ford barra inline 6, toyota V8s. Audi 2.7L V6. Various GM 2.0 engines. Chrysler slant 6 and many more.
I don't know exact years of the Audis, I would have to look up on Wikipedia, but try to find yourself and google for Audi 200 or Audi RS2 or Audi S2. Also the car at 5:56 is the second generation Toyota MR-2 (codenamed SW20)
I know some guys who use the Chevy LS engine, and turbo'd the hell out of it. The problem isn't so much getting power out of it, you can get ridiculous amounts with relative ease. The real problem is getting the power to the road. If not build for a drag strip, there is no real purpose for it, other than 'because we can'.
Hey Visio.. Let's do an "easily tunable diesel engines" next.. Mercedes OM606 should be one of them.. Also, the VW/Audi 2.5 5-cylinder diesels are quite easily tunable to above 300 HP.. and all the well known American V8 diesels (Cummins, Detroit, Ford Powerstroke and so on)
I'd like to add the volvo red block engine, especially the 1991-newer b230ft with can handle 350hp at 27psi on stock internals, because of its iron block and 13mm wide rods
New title; " Most common tune-able engines" lol
Those Audi 5 cylinder turbos should lovely
these engines are very robust, and have a great Sound.
i want one
They earned their chops in the legendary Group B racers of the early 80's.
Yah, they do sound great
yeah
Huge apology for double re-upload, I just overlooked some significant mistakes. I hope you will enjoy the video, though.
Np, we still love u
Hey bro,you missed out 2JZ,RB26,4G63 or Mazda 13B Rotary, also Audi's VR6 is also very good for making tons of power.Last to say the BMW S54 is also one of the most reliable BMW Inline-6 engines ever built. All of these engine can produce 1000 hp and above
YOU MAY NOT KNOW is in the title.
The ones which you mentioned are fanboy engines every car guy knows
I know but they are also tunable to that insane power, mate i am an engineer what are you on up for?
yeah but even i know when talking about engines car guys may not know you don't mention 2jz or RB
but what do I know, I only have done few engine rebuilds :(

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. But I had specifically the K20 and K24 on my mind.
5 cylinders sound soooo good
the text for this video should be... "read the comments to get to know the real unknown tuneable engines" ^^
Yes 😂
also im still sad he didnt reference the l15a/b engines some of the newer ones could rev to 8000 rpm and i could see it has a big potential
sine even with stock blocks it could touch 450 ish hp(the engine only had 117 or less hp)
I really would add the Volvo 2.3 turbo from the 850 T5R (among other Volvo,s ). And the 2.0 turbo (T5) from Saab.

Nothing more to say. Swede power.
slacko1971 oh yeah nice show, you,re right that thing was a beast!
Just commented the same thing. The T5 is one of the best engines built EVER and should definitely be on this list. Damn near bulletproof, easy to fix, and like you said 500hp on the stock block. Though anything above 300hp and you really do need injectors, which is no biggie.

Also with all the other upgrades (apart from the engine) i don,t think i have an original bolt left in my car..:)
Next one, put the Ford Australia Barra Turbo!
huge numbers from just a tune up
SOHC > DOHC
You should include the VW AP engine in the next video. It is a very popular engine here in Brazil and can achive high horsepower with forced induction
Apzeiro detected :D
É nois ;)
You definitely should!
hahahahahha olha os Apzero
também senti falta do ap tbm AP800 ou Ap800S , MD270 passat da primeira geração.
I fucking died at 1:53
Hahah
hahahaha you see why you should save Audi's for last? they're the perfect ending, and BTW, the 1.8T 20V engine was developed entirely by Audi for racing, the engine block can resist up to 1000hp in it stock form, and for last, thank you for showing another engine that I had and loved, the 3S-GE.

Thanks
Great, I will
what's the year make & model of the audi
1:52 that rage comic face got me good :DD
Don't forget about the Saab 2.3l B235 turbo engine
Feedback is very welcome, thanks
b235r just what i wanted to say!!
that one was easy to get to around 300 bhp figures with a decent intercooler and just a few ecu changes
+Michael Kenis yep.. got one! haha
nice, just to make my mouth water... I'll say just this: Viggen xD
The LS engine didn't belong on this list, it's far too well known to be here.
Maybe an old Volvo T5 engine would have been a better fit ?
You forget about all Mercedes diesel engines OM60X and M103 M104 and the best M120 ;)
M120 is v12.It is not so common. But still.
I would put it in. Do you know something more about it?
Wow, thank you for your knowledge. I have only one question? What is the Eaton? Is that the supercharger manufacturer's name?
Easily Tunable Engines You May Not Know About. LS never herad before .
"may"
LS is like JZ in USA.
LS are chap as fuck
The LS can be like a 2JZ in the United States, but if we consider the rest of the world, like Europe, Asia etc. (excluding Australia, too), those motors ain't very common on these markets and the majority of cars with LS engines are imported. And very few people do so.
VisioRacer LS Are nothing like a 2Jz they are cheap and blow up all the time don't let people on the internet bullshit you
Chevy LS are you kidding me? That made the list??
What about the Saab b204l? Can hold over 600whp on a bone stock motor easy! One of, if not THE, most capable 4cyl motors in existence... And it tunes via stock ecu and canbus with a free tuning tool called t5suite. You really didn't do your research...
Your feedback is always welcome, thank you.
The reason why I put it here is explained in the text box. Just don't kill me for that.
m200mw Holy shit... There's a volkswagen 1.8T and the Miata's 1.6 engine and you bitch about one of the most sought after engines for a swap? How about you do some research for a change. Better yet, get some experience under the hood.
Cheap fanservice is called
A B235R owner here- You are totally right, A saab tuned engine can beat anything you trough at it. You should watch the video called "NordicTuned Saab 9-3 vs all"
Of course i knew about the inline 5 turbo from Audi ;) Im a big fan of the old quattros and know very well what those engines are capable of.
4:55 keep the boost around 6 psi if only ct Alex had listened
Hahahah, I was thinking about him when including the Miata engine
Poor engine, hahaha
how much boost did alex tuned it to
Definitely needed to have the volvo white whiteblock t5 engines on the list.
Ford Pinto 2.3L engine should be on this list.
Thank you yet again for an awesome and interresting video!!
I have just bought myself an audi A4 with the 1.8 5v turboquattro. Such an amazing car and even this has a huge tuning potential!
Thank you for stopping by
over here in the states the chevy small block 350(5.7L) is super common in any drag or sports car, its like the grandfather of the LS, and they make every part under the sun for it "In all, over 100,000,000 small-blocks (as of November 29, 2011) have been built in carbureted and fuel injected forms since 1955" - Wikipedia
Mercedes m104 is a good one as well.
700hp on stock internals is easily possible with a decent turbo, plus its really cheap and easy to find
that golf from 7:26 sounded awfully.... as for the 1.8turbos, its a shame people didn't took care of them (maintenance done periodically) that's why some call them unreliable ☹️
Costin C. What in the world are you talking about
Opel C20LET, 2 litre 4 cylinder turbo engine, stock 201 HP, but they go as far as 700 HP with turbo and intercooler upgrades.
I’m surprised the 4B11T motor from the Evo X and Lancer Ralliart didn’t make the list. Easily tunable with a free computer program and a specific cable
what about a ford focus st? the mk2 model with the 5 cylinder volvo engine? is it easy to get high power to ?
What is it with honda drivers and hitting the rev limiter?
Because in N/A engines the power is at the top end? lol its like saying why do formula 1 cars rev to 16k
or why do olympic sprinters run so fast
Even though an engine makes the most power at redline, doesn't mean you should hit the limiter. Hitting the limiter means no acceleration. Shifting a splitsecond before the limiter is always faster.
Don't judge by few videos. Some of them like to hit the redline, some of them had slow reaction before they shifted. The theory you mentioned is worldwide known and makes perfect sense. I suppose the other guys who responded to you just thought you thought about shifting just at redline or very close to it.
whats the outro music you use mate? I love it
What about Fiat 1.9 JTD/MJTD and VW 1.9 PD TDI?
i dont understand why the aussie ford australian 6 cyl never makes it in,
research ford australia's barra I6.
Really nice propositions! Very Good video!
Thanks
Sorry for my english, but whats ta "layout" means in stats? Is that means how the engine planted into the car?
LS motors are popular for sure. Still.. I prefer the BB 572 over everything here..
if you like big blocks and LS, maybe the vortec 8.1 liter is more your speed. LS and Big block Fusion
keep your BB572 i'd go for a 427FE
billy heaton ok
***** Yes i have
Any opinions of the 2zzge? I have a 00 celica gts and always wondered if it's worth modifying.
Ty Harris if you have money to spend yeah. But it's really expensive and not much bang for buck sometimes
1:54 I laughed more than i should with that meme face
LS unknown in Europe ? yeah right! hahaha, great video though bro!
VG30ET from the first gen 300zx for next video! Some people are getting over 600hp on stock internals
There's something about engine's that makes me relax and calm
You definitely missed the Saab B234 engine, as it can hold around 450hp on stock internals
B204l will hold over 600whp bone stock
B202 ? ;)
my ford 5.0 can handle up to 700 hp with stock lower half
jeffel80 You are wrong. A simple google search will show you so
I think an easily tuneable engine should be an engine that responds really well to n/a power or boost while remaining with the stock block. For that reason I don´t really think the FA20 is a "easily" tunable engine, considering the high compression and "weak" bottom end. It doesn't really respond to n/a power and to go boost its not optimal without a built engine. Otherwise great list as usual, keep them coming :D
oh that Renault in ur dp.... such a forgotten legend
3:45 doe's anyone know the name of those wheel's?
But theres still no B230FK/FT tho
Volvo in general... the stock from factory turbo inline-5s respond very well to more boost
Redblocks are badass motors, currently bolting a Holset to my 940.
I got a S40, Can't do much to the 2.4i but the T5 loves more boost, stock internals its good till 350 HP at the wheels if im right
name of the block is just b230
Prepping Canada I'd love to do a ITB 2.4 at some point, not for power reasons but sound alone (never seen anyone do a fuel injected ITB build on a inline-5). Been thinking about running the Volvo/Yamaha connection, lower C30 intake with 5 R1 throttle units... all dreams ofc :D
SO was that first video with the LSX engine in it, was that a 2000-2005 Chevy Impala? THe FWD one?
No man that was some Aussie shit
The holden commodore i bet
eze4life100 looks like a VZ with hsv lights
eze4life100 vz also came with ls2 in later series
The trollface audi launch cracked me up, lol. I got a thing for I5s. :3
at 3:27 it says its an Volkswagen but its an Audi A3 and at 6:37 it also says volkswagen 2.0 but its an Skoda.
Wow, guess why
Yus! i made it xD Finally after making like 1000 comments senpai noticed me :o
+VisioRacer make a video of the VW engine wich is AP alta performance (high performance), too much mode here in brasil, 1.6, 1.8(more used) and the 2.0 bazillians put 1000+ HP in this engines. excellent video
+VisioRacer you can find this engines in you tube searching "gol(voyage, parati, santana) ap turbo"
vw audi and skoda are basicaly the same thing with different buyers
So, a Skoda 1,8 T will be ok? What must I check when I will buy one of these?
That ls you have there on video with the turbo will make more then 350 horsepower. Do you mean 350 stock ?
Yea, aware of that. 350 did seen small for a turbo Ls
some more info for you on the 2.2T 20v engine of audi. put in H profile rods and a different clutch , turbo, injectors, fuel pump and a remap and they can make 500+. ive seen s2's hit 600 horsepower on stock rods. engine and pistons can handle over a 1000 hp. even intake can flow around 700 horsepower. they are some of the most underrated audi engines people seem to miss. robust as hell and oldskool laggy. but when that boost comes on its a killer. this little 2.2 litre can kick ass. i dont see the new Tfsi's pull this off.
And i can't afford any of these, as per usual.
Newgenerationisbg I've been honestly looking at Mazda MX-3's with the 1.8 V6, got any info on that?
Newgenerationisbg Plus i can get an audi, but i dont really like the design, unless its an estate version.
It's funny, because that kink that makes you happy is what turns me off the car XD
What also is great abot the EA 888 is, even with upgrades to between 4 and 500hp it has very little lag because it has very tight gas channels through the head which make the Turbo run full boost below 2000rpm no problem
what you thing of mazda BPZE? (is the 1.8L ingine version of mx5) I believe is more similar to BPT engine (323 turbo)
sorry for my bad english and thanks for your videos
What about g13b from suzuki or ford 8v pinto engine?
That Audi 200 never gets old
@vizioracer the hp for a stock k24 is ~190-205 hp depending on the model.
That Toyota MR2 engine just seems to go on forever. I have a friend who has an MR2 Turbo that was at one point putting out around 500HP, but it was pegged back to a little less than that due to problems and yet it still went like stink.
Is that 3SGTE weighted with the gearbox on? 200 Kilos sound like a lot for a 4 cylinder.
I think so. It is very hard to determine if nobody states that. Some weigh them dry, some wet, some without the gearbox and some with it.
VisioRacer
Yeah, I know the struggle.
Exactly
Perhaps you should cover the SAAB B2x4 engine series in episode 2?
Mazda had the MZRL3vdt 2.3 turbo 4Cyl from the MazdaSpeed 3 and 6 (MPS in Europe)Very tunable. Came stock with. BOrg Warner Ko4 turbo. The Cummins in-line 6 diesels are a notable mention. Lastly, Nissan KA24DE did very well with boost being iron block and low compression.
Chevy LS? Must live under a rock to not know about its tuneability :D
What type of Audi is that at 1:59
Audi 200 20v turbo quattro.
Great video once again.
small suggestion: mercedes m111. was built into c, e and clk class and with a stock power output of mere 163hp and 240nm. you could easy double the output with just a few minor mods on the supercharger and the ecu.
a lot of these are no secret.
Duratec 20V 2.5l
Volvo/ Ford Focus RS mk2 ❤
i've seen Volvo B23/B230 (Volvo 240/740/940) engines push over 400hp on stock internals... forged bottom ends to make them durable also means they're able to handle a ton of boost.
0:36 v-tec just kicked in 😶
What about the NA 2.5 I5 used in the golf, Jetta, and Passat before the 1.8 TSI took over?
That was the 2.3-litre VR5, not 2.5L I5 and also not 1.8 TSI, rather than 1.8T 20V. The 1.8 TSI is completely different motor and Passat or Golf never had other five-cylinder than the VR5.
VisioRacer buddy, I literally have a Passat with a 2.5 in it that is I5 I can send you picture, and my friend has gold with same thing, I'm talking about america
VisioRacer and also it says TSI literally on the engine cover of these vehicles I'm not quite sure you know what you are talking about
I think I know that, I suppose that I just don't have the knowledge about US VW motors as you do. Sorry for my rudeness.
Is the 2.5L I5 any good for tuning? Just asking
VisioRacer I am not quite sure but there are many forums on them and there are TH-cam videos where they have them with turbos with around 400hp
What car is that at 6:10
I LOVE MY '95 S6 2.2T oh did I mention it has 230k on it!! still spits out the hp!
I think you mean rover K series 👀, one of the best engine notes, turbo cars making 215 bhp redline of 7200
What about the mx-5 ND engine?
does anyone have a list of the cars featured in this vid
There are always credits to the original links and video, so check those out. It may help you. Or just ask me, I could help you as well.
thanks man I really just wanted to know the years of most of the Audie's you used in the video
and also the car at 5:56
I don't know exact years of the Audis, I would have to look up on Wikipedia, but try to find yourself and google for Audi 200 or Audi RS2 or Audi S2. Also the car at 5:56 is the second generation Toyota MR-2 (codenamed SW20)
thanks bro
5 cylinders just sound like magic.
should've added the L67 which is a Supercharged Buick engine that was used for lots of US GM cars and even some Holdens
Saab B204/B234? They was stock in the Saab 9000 2.0 turbo and 2.3 turbo, as well as Aero. With stock internal it can easily get up to 500 whp
There's also the M16A found in various Suzuki cars...that shit's so durable i think i saw someone rocking 200WHP+ N/A somewhere on the internet
Inline-4 Hondas are they only cars I know of where you would have to drive with earmuffs on to really enjoy driving them.
what audi is that at 3:41
The first generation Audi S3
M104 engine maby for the next video, those things are amazing.
The Audi 2.2T is also in the C4 S4/6
how long will these boosted 4-5 cylinder engines last? not too long at all
Will never get tired of 1:48
Hey Visio.. Let's do an "easily tunable diesel engines" next..
Mercedes OM606 should be one of them..
Also, the VW/Audi 2.5 5-cylinder diesels are quite easily tunable to above 300 HP.. and all the well known American V8 diesels (Cummins, Detroit, Ford Powerstroke and so on)
saab B204 and B234 is worth a mention :-)
How to burnout
Click Accelerate and Break or W&S
well there's 8 I already knew.
I'd like to add the volvo red block engine, especially the 1991-newer b230ft with can handle 350hp at 27psi on stock internals, because of its iron block and 13mm wide rods
