You can find deals on blem tubes and get into used units for under 4k, and you can even find used green phos binos for under 5k if you know where to look. But yeah buying new or from a big manufacturer you’ll pay 2300+ for anything gen 3 or photonis echo stuff. Stay away from AGM and other gen 2+ stuff other than photonis echos if you need white phos Edit: my pvs14 cost 1300, gen 3 with a decent blem, got an hhv bump for 200, usgi rhino/jarm combo for 100. So you can get a gen 3 14 with blems and usgi mounts if you are vigilant with looking for stuff. Wow that breaks it down well, and I appreciate the candor, no bs. And most importantly your full support of the constitution and not shying away from plainly saying such! Thank you sir
The 15 thumbs down are from those who are just angry about everything. This is one of the coolest ways to film for a night vision video out there. The content is cool too.
My first introduction with night vision was running around playing airsoft with a vintage PAS-6 Monoscope clamped to a PVS14 J arm with some hose clamps and ingenuity. Had no idea it was worth more than some of the PVS14s my friends had, but it worked. I couldn’t use it to shoot well at night, but it helped me point out the IR lights from the enemy teams. Even with my father’s PVS14 years later, I found myself using NODs more for observation and ID’ing targets and positions rather than shooting. At the end of the day, it only takes one person to own the night, or in these cases, deny the night.
Ive always been pro gun and into firearms, it wasn't until I found this channel did I become interested in and understand the importance of things like body armor, helmets, NVGs, and medical training. I love this channel and T.REX arms.
We are the farmers and merchants of this nation now. We need to step up to today’s technology financially and get this nostalgic feeling that the next home war will be ANYTHING like those 160+ years ago.
Night vision is cool, it’s definitely something we need to normalize. I definitely want to get into it but for most it’s not realistic financially and that’s okay. Just practice with what you have. This is a great video. You made a very great point about support gear that people can take away even if you own night vision or not. You need complimentary gear!!! To many people my age “grow up shooting” and preach 2A stuff on their social media but fail to fully understand it. The 2nd Amendment also give you a responsibility to have the necessary gear to fulfill ones duty to the Constitution. This mean owning some type of load bearing equipment, anything from older USGI gear to what you mentioned Velocity/Mayflower rigs. People talk a lot about micro rigs and I somewhat agree that as civilians we need to carry more mags, water, medical and other sustainment gear like food, shelter, and tools. Most don’t get it. They just think a cheap AR with Amazon red dot and one magazine is enough. I can’t blame them entirely because they just haven’t researched or have come across accounts like this before. I try my best to spread the word. Great video with a great message, Trex Arms will always be my favorite company because of videos like this. Helping the 2A from every direction. God Bless🇺🇸
Yeah like its one of those thing you want to get into soooooo bad but i mean its more money than what most people spend on their cars… and you MIGHTTTT use it .1% of the time… ha
It’s a necessity to truly be fight ready with today’s tech. Like he said, if you preach 2A and readiness then actually BE ready. 2500-3500 is NOT out of ANYONEs realm in this country that isn’t homeless. It may take you 6mos to a year to save it but that 6 mos to a year is gonna come an go. How many 6 mos and years have you missed saying, “I want it but…”. You’d have 2 by now probably. How many guns you got (don’t answer lol)? How many can you shoot at once? People need to focus more on their loadout than collecting a bunch of shit that isn’t even collectors guns. ESPECIALLY if you’re claiming to do it for the purposes of defending this nation. Defend from who in your scenario in your head? China? Russia? They have NVGs. If you don’t have them, you aren’t welcome to fight next to me. I need people that to come to class with all their supplies when it’s life or death.
While I don't disagree, the King of Kenosha did just fine with his Amazon red dot. And there were guys out there that night in full kit who did nothing to back him up.
Honestly, i would love to see Trex Arms start opening ranges across the country for people to train, Im not sure what fees could be charged for that however or legal red tape. Other then that, loved this segment.
Finding a company to insure that endeavour would be challenging. And even if you found one the premiums would be insane. Would not be profitable in the least.
Insurance costs too much to run a range. That’s why almost all ranges you see also sell guns, or they’re state ran. If you’re funding the range purely off memberships you’d have to charge a RIDICULOUS amount/month
This video helped me get my first setup for night shooting. Went with the same bump helmet and pvs-14 got the unit for 2600 used has no blems and a spec sheet (green phos but Out in the woods green is better than white imo)and spent 800 on the laser, and the rest on a decent bump helmet, my red dot is already NV rated so I was able to get into night vision for a little under four grand
@@terrybogard21 yea if that’s your budget. Now that l3 released the pvs31’s officially that’s another good one. Allegedly l3 reserves the choice tubes for the 31’s.

Get GOOD air rifles and handguns. The IZH single stroke pneumatic pistol is Olympic class. The precharged pneumatics are becoming more affordable and more powerful. Black powder has been shut down, primers are non-existent and ammo has stabilized but is double 2019 prices. Get a good hand pump and pellets now. Marksmanship is a perishable skill.
Been saving up for a good PVS-14 setup for a while. Two months ago, I had a disc herniate and start pushing against my spinal cord which ultimately needed back surgery. Finally got all the hospital bills, office visit bills, surgery charges, etc. added up and paid today for a grand total of... $4100. There went my night vision.

I've actually managed to create a fairly functional setup with my headband style earpro inside my HHV poor helmet. I just removed the center padding where the headband goes, padded out the rest to make it fit snugly, and got the chin strap adjustment just right and it works for me. I did not know about the neckband style earpro though. Definitely looking into that as a better option.
yep, i did the same with my replica ops-core and howards leight and it works fairly well. It can get uncomfortable after a few hours of wearing but well most of the times you won't wear it that long anyway
Took a NVG class on borrowed equipment recently. I got home and started buying my own. I'd estimate I paid about equal amount for all the gear (not counting the guns, optics, or silencers) as the NVG unit itself. The IR laser/illuminators were the real pain point, because I wanted more than one. I strongly recommend trying to find a way to try different equipment before you buy. Looking through a variety of NVG and seeing side by side examples of IR devices, helmets, mounts and accessories really helped me decide were to spend and where to save.
Digital night vision is a lot cheaper than analog. It won't cost thousands and won't be good for a gun fight, but it is a good budget option for surveillance at night.
Considering what nvgs cost a few years back it's still surprisingly affordable. Then again if money's tight, I'm certain that we'll see a lot more affordable options in the near-ish future as "warm" nvgs and other new tech become more commonplace. As always, awesome video guys, keep it up
Leftist gun owner here. It’s important to understand that the 2A is not political. It’s embarrassing that so many liberals are against gun rights. Videos like this are great sources of information for those of us who are interested in exercising our rights. Good shit. Thanks for the information!
I really agree with Lucas on his point about how a majority of ranges suck! I have plans to open a range like his in the far future. For now I'll just go out to the wilderness and train.
I'm glad I got my helmets about 4 years ago before Lucas started blabbing about my secret store (EBAY) and driving up the prices and nothing good was left. All jokes aside I'm I'm glad more people are educating themselves further because of these videos.
Good job Lucus letting ppl know what all it takes to get kit to fulfill a mission. I knew it was going to be 10-13k going in. However what isn't stressed enough anywhere is team. The "whatever" that will present itself as a threat will most likely be out in force. 1 or 2 well trained and equipped individuals will be at a great disadvantage. But then again what I have seen over my many years is that every time any like minded group is formed there is always infiltration of said group by those that are on a payroll, let's just say, they are on the "other team" Thoughts on this.
Remember gents, ebay can be your friend. But the monocular from a good reputable supplier like TNVC but all the supporting equipment pops up for very low prices as military surplus from time to time with the exception of the laser. Also don't be afraid to use the USGI rhino and J-arm as a starter budget friendly setup. They aren't as nice as a Wilcox mount or a norotos AKA2 but you can a whole set for $20 sometimes and its completely usable.
Really liking the emphasis on training, practice and drills on these newer YT channels. As fun as FPSRussia was, he probably did more harm than good for 2A battles.
Budget NVG: Sightmark Ghost 1x or 2x (feasible up to approx 200 yrds) Note: Bump Helmet is not synonymous with Ballistic Helmet. There are non-ballistic bump helmets. Those were the most commonly issued ones when I was in the Marines. We were actually issued Protec helmets which were skateboard helmets. Check out movies like Blackhawk down to see what I’m talking about. They were simply used to prevent us from busting our skull on objects, like barriers, embarking/ disembarking planes or helos, and random environmental objects when going into buildings. You can spend $100-300 on a non-ballistic helmet, depending on the features. Ballistic bump helmets double the price easily.
No one gets mad at the cost of a vehicle. It’s a known cost. They’re available at/from different price points, conditions, specifications, features, brands etc. “In the land of the blind, the one eyed Man is King.” - Chuck Pressburg on PVS-14’s.
@@FrankStallone42 I’m saying people understand that the purchase of a vehicle will cost you a chunk of coin. And they are necessary if you want to go anywhere fast. But then when the conversation shifts to seeing at night, a veritable super power, people choke up and yell “it’s spensive!”
@@JEJAK5396... I could see better at night with my naked eyes, than I could with any nods when I was in Afghanistan. @@FrankStallone42 I was in Sangin in 2011. The NV equipment that 95-99% of the General Purpose force was issued sucks compared to what a diligent minded private citizen can obtain with his own resources. @@JEJAK5396 I had pvs 23s for a little bit until they shit the bed... pvs 14s were the best (in my opinion, from 2009-2013) for the sole reason that you had one free eye. Hajj defeated nv by just avoiding it... not to mention, light pollution or a thick low ceiling concealing the moon renders nods pretty much useless.

25 years ago I looked into getting a NV setup ( mostly for hog hunting ) and thought if I just wait a few years it will be alot cheaper . Here I am thinking the same thing about this setup .
One of my combat instructors would conclude every range safety brief with "Training takes priority over safety. But if the training is good, it's inherently safe."
And if you start larping on YT and Instagram, you can afford these overpriced items too! Most of us gun guys (who have been building and buying since the assault weapons ban ran out) are running whatever works.
Question for anyone with experience: With your NOD experience, assuming roughly the same budget range, would you recommend a high quality single tube (i.e. L3 unfilmed white w/ higher specs) or duals with lower end tubes (i.e. RNVG w/ photis green basic tubes). It seems you can get into both systems for roughly the 5k range but Im not sure which is more of a priority quantity vs quality in this type of instance. I live in and am LEO in urban/suburban south florida so that would be my main usage environment

US night vision has a helmet and pvs14 kit I bought and it works well, its 3500 but if you save up you can get it, I'm not rich, a wagie at best but I wanted it, now I I just have to save up another 2800 for the other pvs14 them combine them on my knock off wilcox mount and then I'm good
Just get a weapon mounted light as a stop gap until you can save up for a PVS-14 at the very least. No shame in not being able to immediately drop $3-4k on NVGs.
Or...barring all the other replies, you could order a pvs-14 clone from the land of Coronavirus like I did. They work, allow you to see as far as your IR light/laser can go, they seamlessly switch between light/IR only environments, can use a good range of the real pvs-14 accessories (not the dual-mounting stuff, though), can mount to your rifle if you want, (I put mine in a sightmark slide-to-side mount), or helmet-mount it to a rhino, and they last a good 6 or so hours on 2 AA batteries (or you could rig them up like I did to a Nitecore 20 amp-hour battery pack through a voltage regulator and get around 60 hours). Only downside is it's locked at 2x mag. Costs anywhere from 130 dollars to about 200 depending on where you buy them from.

So it’s basically 4ish grand to add NV to your load out, and 9-10k to build out dedicated kit.
You can find deals on blem tubes and get into used units for under 4k, and you can even find used green phos binos for under 5k if you know where to look. But yeah buying new or from a big manufacturer you’ll pay 2300+ for anything gen 3 or photonis echo stuff. Stay away from AGM and other gen 2+ stuff other than photonis echos if you need white phos
Edit: my pvs14 cost 1300, gen 3 with a decent blem, got an hhv bump for 200, usgi rhino/jarm combo for 100. So you can get a gen 3 14 with blems and usgi mounts if you are vigilant with looking for stuff. A holosun ls321 has ir illum, ir and vis laser and those can be found for under 600 if you shop around, so you dont need to replace your existing white light with a vamp. Its attainable, if you set your expectations in line.
@@CatholicKit I’ve shopped around, just can’t justify the investment right now. But yes, you can do it for a lot less than 4K. I think the last time I seriously looked into it I was able to pull everything together for around 2k (2200 I think). I threw my comment out there to say what took Lucas 20 minutes to explain. But his point remains that “Budget” is relative when in comes to NV. It’ll cost thousands, not hundreds. Personally, I’m comfortable with my abilities using a white light. It’s acceptable for my situation.

the content aside: this is some of the coolest footage I've seen on TH-cam
A 6-12 man team with NVGs will lay waste to the night.
You are answering all the questions that not everyone is asking and no TH-cam channel is wanting to cover. Great videos man keep it up.
Hands down the most knowledgeable gear guy on the internet. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and opinion.

He's talked about it before and why he wont open a range to the public.

But then again what I have seen over my many years is that every time any like minded group is formed there is always infiltration of said group by those that are on a payroll, let's just say, they are on the "other team"

Note:
Bump Helmet is not synonymous with Ballistic Helmet.
