So, what you're saying is ....just to be safe, buy lots of rifles and mount different scopes on each one. That's what I'm telling my wife, anyway! Love your content, love your positivity, stay safe.
A lot of people dont know the ACOG has a fast range finding feature. If the line for the 400 on your reticle is the same width as the torso of an e-type/average person, then the target is roughly 400m away. Works for all the ranged lines in the reticle
It's about time! Welcome. Practice intentionally. You only need one, for now. You can worry about getting another when you wear this one out. Spend the bulk of your budget on ammo. Stick with what you have and use it. You'll thank me in 20 years.
So, with a second focal plane, your point of impact isn't going to change through upping the magnification. However, the HOLDS in that reticle are only going to be good on the (usually) maximum magnification. I think this is what Lucas was trying to say, but it came out maybe a little confusing for someone who's not in the know :) Good video guys! The cinematography was stellar!
Thats why I normally detest SFP scopes, with a new exceptions like cheap scopes without BDCs or things like 1-4x or 1-6x LPVOs, reasonably I think any use of the BDC _is_ going to likely be on 4x anyways. It would be weird to choose to shoot at BDC ranges on 1x.
@@SandyRavaged You don't need to. Your rifle can hit anything out to 300 yards with the center dot. If you're shooting further than that-- then why keep your zoom at 1-3x?? When you actually need to see the reticle it's there (when you zoom in).. When you don't need it, it's out of the way. It's a great system. I go FFP or prism.
Also, that's not how it works. On a SFP scope, the reticle doesn't zoom in or out: it's FIXED. So BDC is only calibrated to a certain magnification and it will be off on all the others. It's typically calibrated to the last zoom in.. So if it's a 1-6x magnification: it will be calibrated on the 6x magnification. Lets say you choose to zero it at 3x instead of 6x: none of the BDC lines are going to match up with the calibration. Those BDC lines are still only calibrated to the 6x zoom and if you're looking through it at 3x, then they will all be off (except your zeroed center dot)............. If you are using a BDC reticle, FFP is best. SFP is for a simple center cross reticle, where you plan on dialing to your shooting distance and just using that center dot/ cross. SFP is not designed to use hold overs (unless you are at the max zoom). So if you don't like doing the math and turning dials on every shot--- then don't get a SFP; because that is it's purpose.
@@SandyRavaged And your conclusion is that FFP LPVO's suck because you can't read subtensions that you don't' need? Doing something professionally doesn't mean you've been doing it right; it just means that you've been paid to do it. FFP's are great -- so Idk what your point was. They are certainly better than SFP scopes, except maybe on a bolt rifle where you're going to dial every shot anyway.
What it seems at this point… is doesn’t really matter what you have because we live in the golden age of optics… but whatever you have get good with it
I'd say-- always make sure it has an etched reticle. So either a prism or an LPVO. So in the SHTF and grid down future we have coming at us: we can still have an optic that operates when you can't get batteries anymore.
@@calholliI run a trijicon tr24 1-4lpvo and it really is “daylight bright” because it uses fiber optic like the acog. It also has tritium in it for darker scenarios but it’s very dim. Love the scope, very clear and still an etched reticle if the FO or tritium fails.
Finding the right optic for you will be an expensive journey… but a worth while journey for those who take civilian armament and proficiency seriously. Great content as always.
I've been using the 1x prism and 3x magnifier combo from Primary Arms for the past 2 years or so. It absolutely rules as someone with astigmatism who can't really use traditional red dots, but the biggest feature has to be their ACSS reticle hands-down. The rangefinding/BDC features built into it really make the whole package. I believe PA did a collab with Trijicon at one point to put the ACSS in a select series of ACOGs so that is something to look into as well.
Good to hear. My astigmatism just got bad enough to give me a comet on my red dots. Just picked up a SLX 1x Prism today. Pumped to tryit out. 510C-GR also gives me very minimal "snail" trail.
@@cameronwest628 Lol and we've circled back to no one single solution for everyone. Sorry to hear it wasn't for you. I'm sure you did it, but folks who try this need to remember there are diopters on BOTH the prism scope and magnifier and they need to be adjusted independently.
@@axegekko6477 For real, projection dots look like like a smeared starburst to my football-shaped eyeballs. Coincidentally I use a 507C also with the ACSS reticle on my pistol. It's not ideal, but the chevron shape is a little more clear than a traditional dot.
ACOG Rmr has been my new peak. RMR sits high and comfy for CQB, Acog is what I used in the marines and hitting out to 500 no problem. For a general setup that tries to flex where it can, i haven’t found better.
I ran the acog in the army and loved it Just about have my ar10 .308 built out. I went with a 1-6 lpvo with a 45 dg red dot Old girl got heavy real quick Next I’ll be building out a 5.56 I like the idea of the red dot with magnifier but the trust I already have with the acog is hard to ignore 🤘
You make some good points about the drawbacks of LPVOs, namely their inherent fragility compared to other “running and gunning” optics. It’ll be interesting to see how well they hold up to actual use with the military switching to them.
They have been using LPVOs since deep back in the GWOT days, it’s not really a new thing and they’ve been tested. There are countless pictures of Kahles, Vortex, Nightforce, Leupold, and Schmidt & Bender scopes on rifles in the sandbox. They’ll never be as durable as a simple ACOG or dot but they’re not toys either.
All I have to say is what a badass intro show casing the two man assault. Covering each other always one person with their gun shooting. Never both guns down at the same time! Reminds me of when my Dad took my brother and I to Phoenix, AZ to go see a Baseball game and we went to a badass indoor paintball field and the whole right side of the field was stacked tires hundreds of them in like a row type format. My brother and I tore back that side if the field using these tactics. He would lay down covering fire and I would bump up to the next bunker. Then I would lay down suppressive fire while targeting enemies and He would bump up to me and so on. That field had a couple downed helicopters and fort type towers in the corner of the fields. Good times!
So… 1) Eotech + magnifier 2) ACOG + RMR 3) LVPO (+ RMR) 1) is best for noobs and if you only have one gun for everything 2) is best if you do more medium range than close range and is easier to transition between close and far targets. 3) is good for longer ranges and precision (added an RMR to the top of this rifle may give similar setup to ACOG + RMR) Conclusion: get three rifles, 1) with red dot and magnifier for home defense on a 10.5” gun. 2) 12.5-13.9” rifle with Acog + RMR for your apocalypse gun 3) 16”+ rifle with lvpo if you shoot longer distance more than close distance and do 3 gun competitions
This channel is literally a COD IRL Intro 😂😂, this is why I’ve been trying to push myself on the range. Very good content and the journey on the range has been a enjoyable one.
I did a 12.5 with a lpvo for my truck hunter. This firearm is designed to be small and easy to use. Shots will be taken up to 200 yards so it works perfectly for that.
Last year for Black Friday I got the Acog/rmr combo. This year I'm going to get the Eotech/magnifier... as a treat. Happy Thanksgiving everybody. God Bless. Stay Safe
Lucas you are the man. You break down things so much more clearly than anyone else. No time wasted. Great information and concise delivery. Thank you. Great content.
I currently have a Holosun red dot/3x magnifier and a Primary Arms 1-6 LPVO. After some proper training, I may also pick up an ACOG like the one in this video to determine which I like best for my basic 16” rifle setup. Thanks for making such detailed and no-nonsense educational content. I would love to come train with y’all someday. Much love from Texas!
Love the content. Honestly man I dont have those issues with the LPVO. I dont run Sig LPVOs, I Honestly don't like some of the very high end vortex stuff but there are a few options that I use for LPVOs and I really dig it man. They always go in my go to rifles not a dot. Appreciate going in the weeds for sure. Keep it up!
Which lpvo do your rock or recommend? My first lpvo was a vortex strike eagle on there 2" cantilever mount. Reason i went with this option is cause it was budget friendly for something i wasnt sure on using. I was used to the acog with a rmr on a 45° and on the other rifle i had a red dot with 3x magnifier.
The OP didn't say what he had but, I can tell you I have had good luck with my LVPO. I have avoided the buy cheap ... then buy expensive upgrade path entirely. So, I avoided the vortex bandwagon -- and I went for it -- bought 'good' optics -- Loved my nightforce lvpo - sold it. Have used the eotech vudu, -- great option. But ended up buying a trijicon vcog -- its bombproof just like the acog -- I have never had any issue with it -- and I haven't babied it -- I am not using it as a bat or purposefully abusing it -- but it has never lost zero ever. Mind you an LVPO is NOT a replacement for a RDS equipped rifle for cqb etc... But the vcog allows me the ability to reach out to 300-500yds all day. Can't do that as 'easily' with a 1x setup. Just my 2c. @@marcusd3212
@@warhammer73 awesome thanks for the response! I was looking into the nightforce but when i was behind one i wasnt so impressed. Ill look into the vcog and vudo thanks.
Been watching your videos for a long time. I really enjoy them but this is one of my favorite videos. Great job talking about those three types of optics, budgets, beginners and experts etc… great video for all to watch. Thank you! God Bless!
That acog set-up is intriguing, especially with the rmr on top. I think we really need all, but if I'm reading between the lines here and you're running some lpvo and red dot w/ or w/o a magnifier and then jump to an acog, you should have a fairly smooth transition. Lots to consider. Good Stuff Bois!!
I've had an Aimpoint pro for like 7 years on my main rifle. Changed the batteries out twice since then with it being on at all times and it still is working perfectly. Can never go wrong investing in a solid optic. 👌🏾

Absolutely love the info on your videos. My 16 in 5.56 had an lpvo on it but the more I shot i the more I didn't like the eye relief and the weight as much. So I decided to put an eotech on it. The nice thing about having that setup with a magnifier is I don't always have to have the magnifier on the rifle I can take it off to lighten it up or use it to view something without pointing a rifle.
I'm so glad I was able to try someone else's Acog before I dropped 1k. The lack of a diopter made it unusable for me. People acting like this is a feature. Yeah a feature that's missing.
Perfectly timed info drop, I just purchased the Eotech exps3-0 and g45 5x magnifier. I did a lot of research and decided this was the best fit. Now saving for NV.
I ended up going with a LPVO primarily to help with vision issues. Red dots and even the eotech dont do well with my eyes, i get too much refraction from lens implants. I have not tried the acog but I think I should try one after watching this video. Thanks for putting this out there.
The green dot may help with any star burst effect for a stigmatism. Also, I've seen a "gold" dot as well. Both examples I have one each from Holosun; both have a circle and dot combo reticle and the one with the gold color arrives tomorrow.
For my astigmatism both red and green starburst, the circle isn’t as bad as the dot. My EOTech isn’t too bad when I’m target focused. I need to get out and train with all my optic systems.
I also use the Wilcox riser with magnifier mount. Yes it’s pricey but it makes shooting very comfortable and lines your eye up to the red dot well without have to shrug your head down our gun up
@@Driver-ur9mfThe battery life of the Eotech isn't that much of a issue in the real world ime. There is plenty of warning the battery is low but imo a fighting rifle should have irons regardless. A mint set-up is a exps 3-0 with fixed Daniel Defense irons. Then you'll always have robust irons avaliable in the lower 1/3rd of the Eotech's large, tint and distortion free glass if it were to fail.
People who haven’t got to spend time with a TA31-CH (classic Acog, but with the crosshair reticle) tend to not realize just how incredible the actual sight picture is. 4x on the TA31 is VERY different than 4x on an Lpvo/ magnifier. The horizontal field of view is insane, you can see soooo much, and the glass quality is unparalleled. It’s like sitting closer to the tv on a first person shooter game sort of. You have such a sharp pristine image combined with such a wide field of view, and when you throw in the ultra fine crosshair reticle that gets as bright as you could ever want with no batteries, and all in a bombproof, ultra light package ? Man. It’s good.
@@ytty5183exactly man, I got mine on a little higher than standard ADM mount (it basically imitates the height of a carry handle), and I’ve never once had any issue with the eye relief / undesirable eye box image. Such a great optic.
I prefer the OG. TA01 with the built in irons on top. I like my tango6 and my dots. But the ta01 acog is the one I’d grab if the proverbial shtf ever happens.
Got myself a Vortex red dot the other day for CQB Training (after watching another video of yours about optics), thanks for the pointers and appreciate all you content! :) Have a good day sir
Thanks for the insights. It’s a lot better than some TH-camrs talking about how much they prefer one over another. I own a LPVO and I keep taking it off my rifles in favor of a different setup because it is heavy and slow target acquisition at 1x. I hear a lot of about how ACOG w/ red dot is the best due to redundancy plus magnified optics have the reticles etched on. I just like the red dot w/ magnifier better because it is easy to setup and I can use backup iron sights without needing to rotate the rifle
One thing to mention (that has probably been covered in the comments already) with magnifiers on red dots is that they will obviously multiply the dot size such that an Aimpoint 2 MOA dot and the image scale together with a 3x magnifier (dot gets 3x bigger as does the background). However, holographic sights like the Eotech use a center dot that's much finer than 1 MOA (even though our eyes perceive it as roughly 1 MOA), so under magnification, the Eotech's dot doesn't seem to scale the same way with magnification (it is being magnified, but it's so small that we can't perceive the 3x increase). This can be helpful when trying to make precise, deliberate shots. Note, this phenomenon is often written to say that the dots in holographic weapon sights don't increase in size with magnifiers like red dots do. Of course they do, it's just that they're so small to begin with, it only appears that way to our eye.
I believe I've tried most options...and I've settled squarely on magnifier/dot combinations for most applications. Romeo8T and Eotech EXPS3 are on my go to rifles. That said- this is a very personal, very subjective thing. There is no "best thing" in this area, folks. No real "one size fits all" for every application either. They're all good options and you need to, personally, find what works best for you as an individual.
Thank you for the great black Friday deals. I just ordered an Orion belt, double pistol mag pouch, and a rifle mag pouch. God bless and keep up the great training vids.
REALLY helpful video man, thank you! I was already researching 1x6 scopes for an AR but your explanations of how they all work and the pros and cons has me thinking about learning more about ACOGs first. Keep up the great content.
Just bought my first AR today after talking to the dealer a bit about measure 114 and it might be going through tomorrow. Originally, was going to ask them to order me a DB15, and then behind him saw the exact gun on the wall, and within 10 mins bought the gun. Now I’ve been trying to figure out what optic I want, and this video pops up randomly. Cheers.
I have a cheap LPVO on my poor man's build. I've shot with red dots and others. But exactly like you guys said, its reps behind the rifle. If you can get used to small eye relief and static 4x of an acog, you can get proficient behind a LPVO. THe LPVO is easy to get behind in my opinion. Before my AR build most of my time was behind a rifle scope and its just more natural to me.
My optic setup is definitely dictated by budget. 3x prism from PA and a set of canted irons from Magpul. Gets the job done, but hoping next year to jump to an Eotech holo w/magnifer. Been the setup I've wanted for some time.
I got a vortex 5x prism from the freedom week on PSA. 200 bucks. I am telling you, EXTREMELY worthwhile for 200 bucks. It's an amazing prism, basically an ACOG but a tenth of the price.
Definitely one of the better Optics type choices videos out there guys...well done. For the few that have disposable income...that can spend double or more, there is another option to consider out there, the Elcan SpecterDR 1.5-6x5.56mm Rifle Scope?
I used to tell people the Steiner P4Xi was the 99% solution for a one and done optic. It's phenomenal. But at the price it commands now, no way. At $350 it was the easiest decision in the world, now they go for 750
@@SigM1811 I'd disagree. It has a fantastic 1x, as close to red dot bright I've seen in any lpvo, and a very clear 4x. No optic is a true fix all solution, but for an average shooter, it'll do them well for 90% of the time
@@The_PotionSeller I’m sure it’s a great optic Steiner is a great brand I just don’t see it fitting most people. If you plan to shoot past 100 frequently I think it is a great optic and not knocking the optic or your opinion at all. I just feel that there’s a lot of people that rarely push past 100 yards on their ars.
@@SigM1811 agreed, most people dont. The reason I like it is because it has exceptional 1x performance, and it's lighter than a red dot + magnifier, while keeping most of those benefits in one package. I personally have an eotech + magnifier, but I think that optic works very well for a normie gun owner that shoots from 7-150yds about twice a year. But now it's too expensive, and a holosun dot+magnifier is a way better cheap normie setup to recommend
Lucas, check out the daylight bright fiber optic 1x6 Delta Stryker and also the newest Primary Arms SLX Nova fiber optic reticle. Impressive and bright, even in full Arizona sunlight.
Super happy with my Delta Stryker. I wish it had wind holds, but if I wanted that + red dot performance I would have dropped $1700-2400 on a NF or Razor Gen III. For $800 it's a killer scope.
Lucas I'm surprised you didn't mention the "Red Dot's" with a BDC reticle. Such as the Holosun HS503G (Paralow) with the ACSS reticle. There is NO "hey I wonder how far up I need to aim to hit there at 600" because you have drop stadia for it. You've got zero at 100. Drop for 300,400,500,600. Combined with the aforementioned magnifier, it's the best of both worlds. In a package that lighter than ANYTHING shown here......... Oh and it still has the 65 Moa CQB circle for bad breath range.........
Primary Arms Microprisms 1x 3x 5x seem to be smaller, lighter, and better eye relief than Trijicon but not as tough. Etched reticle better than Red Dot or Holographic for those with astigmatism!
I really like my 5x micro prism with the mil grid. Is it as durable as an ACOG? Nope, but I'm sure whatever kills a good prism will probably kill me anyways.
I run the 2.5x with no battery, illumination is fun for darker/evening shooting tho. Once you use a prism/acog, even an eotech, you’ll never go back to “lpvo” garbage.
I really thought of a LVPO. But you informed me. That’s a none thought now. The Eotech I hate the radical. I don’t want a ring around my dot. Scopes or red dots with magnification works great for me. Thanks for keeping me from making an expensive mistake. Great video!
I had an LVPO (cheap vortex one on my first ar which was a PSA) but now I think I'm going to go with an ACOG+RMR to pair with my Geissele SD upper. I have places that can go out to 400 yards which is one of the reasons. But the primary reason is because I'm clumsy and break stuff all of the time so it sounds like the ACOG+RMR is the best option for me
Your gun and optics are much more durable than you think. Train with and abuse your rifle. Replace failing parts with better parts and grow your faith in the parts that don't fail. Also locktite EVERYTHING.
Pretty sick video, Lucas. Even though I cant afford these optics, I always learn stuff just by watching which I can implement in the stuff I can afford. I haver zero experience with LPVO’s which is something I want to get into. This video cleared some stuff up.
Left out what I’d call the 4th…. The NOT LPVO VO (Leupy 3.6-18 comes to mind) I would kind of like a Tremor 3-ish type reticle with an ACOG. Sometimes, more data would be great. Is “sucked in” the technical term? 😆
I personally owned a Sig 1-10 and then purchased a Monstrum Spectre 1-8 it has better glass better eye box and weather it's at 1 or 8 the eyebox remains perfect unlike my Sig but my go to is my Eotech Exps3-2 great video!!!!
Well damn I thought I was going stupid when I liked my monstrum 1x6 and it's fat horseshoe with a cross hair reticle. It's excellent for everything I've done and I've shot it in quite a few different places and lightings.
I found your channel during covid and find it to be one of the best and relatively non-biased channels in this domain. I started to notice this week that youtube keeps unsubscribing me from your channel and many others like it. Even sometines this happens a few hours after i re-subscribe. What is up with youtube? They don't like conservative or firearm channels.
My god it is so painful to watch these videos while living in Canada. I can tell you a lot of us up north are envious of the American 2A. Pretty soon we wont even be able to own a sharp stick.
Awesome video!!!! One thing I've learned (and still have tons more to learn) using a LPVO is that I rarely dial up in magnification. I'm always at the higher end of magnification, rarely do I dial down. If I had to do everything all over again I would invest in a Spectre DR variable 1-4X. Like having a ACOG with the ability to dial down to an RDS. Just my .02
Mk18 = eotech. M4 = acog. Mk12 = razor gen III 1-10 with a top mounted RMR. I have all three and now I don’t know which is my favorite. Edited to add. Great advice on not buying unless you can afford 2. This is how I’ve saved and done better financially than my career would produce. On small things outside the normal budget, if I can’t afford 10 of them, I won’t buy it. Big purchases X5 it saved me when I was younger and poor.
I like the way you set the information forward. It makes it obvious what the viewer wants without pushing something on them. Like for me, a prism optic is obvious because of the Arizona moon dust, and longer ranges in such desert. A lpvo would work too, if I'm willing to baby the optic. And the RDS/holographic with a magnifier isn't right for my area, but doesn't make it bad.
I've been really happy with the ACOG & RMR combo on my 13.9. It was a great optic to go back to basics and learn proper zero and holds with a scope after getting frustrated with the LPVO (thanks Executive Training Group!). I haven't had much eye relief issues with it and the RMR sitting high doesn't bother me either since I'm used to shooting with a red dot on an A1 upper. When it comes to red dots themselves, Aimpoint all day. They're tough and reliable and the single dot is all I need. In all honesty though, trying to find out which optic to get goes back to one simple question: where do I live? If you're in a city or dense town/suburbia, then the red dot will probably be best since you may own something that's 14.5 or shorter. If you're living out in a small town or rural area, then the ACOG or LPVO is gonna be your best option since you probably own something 13.7 or longer.
I just bought the Primary Arms GLx 2x and I love it. I wanted a bit of magnification instead of a standard red dot, but I didn’t want to add a magnifier. The PA GLx is perfect for what I wanted. Good eye relief, still CQB capable, but a bit of magnification for 100-300 yards
@@nickaa1987 it’s listed as 3.5” but it’s definitely more than that. I mounted mine on the second mounting position on my rail from my charging handle and I can get a clear sight picture with my buttstock all the way back on the buffer tube.

Everyone is different, I can say that I spent well into the five figures to get to the point where I figured out a Ta31 rmr stack is ideal for me. I do not recommend optics to most people, I provide options and play devils advocate, even let people borrow my gear, but I wont tell you what to buy.
@@a-t5380 I most certainly do not. I can tell you what I like to run and why. I can tell you what I don’t like and why. But I will bot tell somebody that they have to run a particular setup. I absolutely hate LPVOs, a ton of people disagree and that is fine. I am a trijicon whore who has more acogs than any other type of rifle optic combined, some people are not willing to accept the compromises inherent to the design. I like my romeo 5 but I'm also not doing any room clearing or long distance shooting. Mostly just flat range stuff and home defence (thus the 25 yard zero)
LVPO with backup 45 degree offset for the up close and personal stuff seems to work pretty good too. My go to in most situations though would be an aimpoint with 3x magnifier. Faster overall and accurate out to 200 easy, and no issues with lighting that you can have through LVPO's. There is nothing I can't do well, with those two setups. Never went the ACOG / RMR route.
They are nice for quick target acquisition or magnification for distance, but I'm in the camp of getting proficient with irons before even considering optics.
I went the lpvo route specially the tango 6T. It’s heavy but it’s durable. I’ve banged it around and dropped it and it’s held zero. I wish I love the ACOG I really do because it is lighter but you’re right that eye relief is horrible, I remove the rear iron sight but I still can’t do it.

@@calhollifacts i love my sig 1-8 lpvo i cant remember the exact name of it but its a great optic and decent price
The Meprolight M21 red dot requires no batteries. They do have their own compromises and limitations, though
I run a sig 4 and the juliet 6 on my scar… thousands of rounds later its still epic
It doesn’t have to be.
I wasnt a fan, i felt like something was always a bit blurry
@@cameronwest628 Lol and we've circled back to no one single solution for everyone. Sorry to hear it wasn't for you. I'm sure you did it, but folks who try this need to remember there are diopters on BOTH the prism scope and magnifier and they need to be adjusted independently.
@@axegekko6477 For real, projection dots look like like a smeared starburst to my football-shaped eyeballs. Coincidentally I use a 507C also with the ACSS reticle on my pistol. It's not ideal, but the chevron shape is a little more clear than a traditional dot.
Love my micro prism I have the PA also 👍🏾
ACOG Rmr has been my new peak. RMR sits high and comfy for CQB, Acog is what I used in the marines and hitting out to 500 no problem. For a general setup that tries to flex where it can, i haven’t found better.
Same that's what I have. It's a decent setup that can do both decently

Good times!
Based family bonding
So…
1) Eotech + magnifier
2) ACOG + RMR
3) LVPO (+ RMR)
1) is best for noobs and if you only have one gun for everything
2) is best if you do more medium range than close range and is easier to transition between close and far targets.
3) is good for longer ranges and precision (added an RMR to the top of this rifle may give similar setup to ACOG + RMR)
Conclusion: get three rifles,
1) with red dot and magnifier for home defense on a 10.5” gun.
2) 12.5-13.9” rifle with Acog + RMR for your apocalypse gun
3) 16”+ rifle with lvpo if you shoot longer distance more than close distance and do 3 gun competitions

Thanks for making such detailed and no-nonsense educational content. I would love to come train with y’all someday. Much love from Texas!
Love the content. Honestly man I dont have those issues with the LPVO.

Excellent breakdown! For the LPVO's, I zero at MPBR. Takes a lot of the thinking out of switching between shooting at distance and close range.

That drone camera work is off the hook. Seriously well done.
I've always been an iron sight fool. Recently bought my first optic. Went with the EXPS-3. Magnifier soon to follow.
I also use the Wilcox riser with magnifier mount. Yes it’s pricey but it makes shooting very comfortable and lines your eye up to the red dot well without have to shrug your head down our gun up
Saw that exps at PSA, was real tempted to pull the carry handle off. Then thought, nope. My luck batteries die just when I need them.

Thanks for the insights. It’s a lot better than some TH-camrs talking about how much they prefer one over another. I own a LPVO and I keep taking it off my rifles in favor of a different setup because it is heavy and slow target acquisition at 1x. I hear a lot of about how ACOG w/ red dot is the best due to redundancy plus magnified optics have the reticles etched on. I just like the red dot w/ magnifier better because it is easy to setup and I can use backup iron sights without needing to rotate the rifle
Please do a review on the best “budget” optics that the vast majority of us are buying/use. Love the content as always!
Holosun 510c with the magnifier
Romeo 5 I love red dot

Id say even when it was $350 not a solution for 99% of people or even the majority.
@@SigM1811 I'd disagree. It has a fantastic 1x, as close to red dot bright I've seen in any lpvo, and a very clear 4x. No optic is a true fix all solution, but for an average shooter, it'll do them well for 90% of the time

@@SigM1811 agreed, most people dont. The reason I like it is because it has exceptional 1x performance, and it's lighter than a red dot + magnifier, while keeping most of those benefits in one package.

The production quality of that intro was beautiful.

I was looking at this one. Eye relief isn't bad?
@@nickaa1987 it’s listed as 3.5” but it’s definitely more than that. I mounted mine on the second mounting position on my rail from my charging handle and I can get a clear sight picture with my buttstock all the way back on the buffer tube.
@chadminor2360 good to know. I should be able to keep my bui on then. Do you have buis there?
@@nickaa1987I do, rear sight just in front of the optic mount, front side all the way forward to the barrel
@@nickaa1987I bought a quick detach for the optic mount so if the optic goes down I can strip it off and use BUIS
would've been cool to fly the drone parallel to the flight path of the saw to get that change in sound
Solid video. I have the Primary Arms micro 3x magnifier. I will say that the Eotech magnifier mount is money. I have purchased multiple mounts used for around $95-100. Highly recommend for anyone looking.
That intro smacks harder than my drunk dad on Christmas eve.
I would really like a follow up video on this what optic to buy for my pistol comparing open and closed emitters on the market.
I bought a red dot and magnifier. Then realized I had an astigmatism. Ugh.
Thnx.for taking the time .
Everyone is different, I can say that I spent well into the five figures to get to the point where I figured out a Ta31 rmr stack is ideal for me. I do not recommend optics to most people, I provide options and play devils advocate, even let people borrow my gear, but I wont tell you what to buy.
So you tell most people to run irons?? On a rifle?
@@a-t5380 I most certainly do not. I can tell you what I like to run and why. I can tell you what I don’t like and why. But I will bot tell somebody that they have to run a particular setup. I absolutely hate LPVOs, a ton of people disagree and that is fine. I am a trijicon whore who has more acogs than any other type of rifle optic combined, some people are not willing to accept the compromises inherent to the design. I do however harbor a deep seated hatred of iron sights only people as I consider them truly stupid, but that is their choice.
@@andrewvachon1943 oh OK. I just have a romeo 5 on My AR15 sighted in at 25 yards. We have a AR ban up here in WA state or else I would try out some other optics on other builds.
What's the point of a LPVO if you need a separate 1x optic?!
for me this is the best video you've presented. thank you.
Elcan obviously
Fantastic information. Thanks so much. I was literally researching optics and this video helped out a lot.
You don’t need any gizmos like an optic sonny, that’s what irons are for!
They are nice for quick target acquisition or magnification for distance, but I'm in the camp of getting proficient with irons before even considering optics.
I think my dream setup would be a fixed 4x or 5x + a mini red dot, but realistically, a red dot + magnifier just makes more sense for me.
The Primary Arms 1-6x ACSS NOVA has the brightest reticle I have ever seen. I can shoot it in broad daylight on the 1st or 2nd power levels in most situations. It is a super clear 1x, with almost no distortion, but it is SFP, so there's that.
Just new boot goofin’. Genuine ostrich too.
Brandon, you're a natural! Good work. I was wondering if I should get a 1x6, but I think I'll go with a magnifier for my sig romeo
Did he just run that course in skinny jeans?!
Yes
