Problems 1 and 3 are associated with the 2.4L engine only, as it has issues with oil consumption and at lower oil levels may cause it to stall.
Problem #2 is common for all 2014-2015 Cherokees as FCA pushed a TCU software update to lock out the 3>2>1 downshift due to a snap ring upset issue. This causes an abrupt 3>1 downshift at low speed when accelerating from coasting and makes for a "rough shift" condition.
If the transmission has been replaced, the downshift pattern can be restored using HPtuners software.
Also, this "review" leaves out significant information. Such as the Trailhawk version having 1.75" more ground clearance than other packages, a electric locking rear differential that isn't available on ANY other CUV and lastly, if equipped with the towing package - a 4500lb. towing capacity which is higher than any other CUV on the market.
These alone place Cherokee at the top of the CUV list.

I purchased a 2021 in February of this year, and with approximately 6,600 mile on it, everything has be smooth sailing. 😎

The engine stalling was a first run issue with cylinder walls getting scored and then consuming oil. The 2.4 used a multi-air intake that replaced the physical intake cam lobes with a hydraulically driven solenoid pack that would move the valves. Oil would be consumed and the engines would run low on oil but not low enough to turn on the oil warming light. Take a corner or hard acceleration/ braking and all the oil in the pan would shift. The oil sump would take in air, pump to the solenoid pack and neutralize the intake valves. Engine would Stall and die. Take about ten minutes of cranking to get the pack recharged. 5:57

Bought the 80th anniversary in February 2021. Great features in this package. So far, It seems like a very good buy. Two 3 hour highway trips and the ride was great. Thumps up on the 80th edition.

33k on my 2019 trailhawk problem free. I've even took it in some gnarly stuff off road with no issue so far. If you want a gas saving family wagoon maybe not the best choice, but if your a weekend worrier who wants a more comfortable ride and better mpg then a wrangler its a good option!

It’s needs a redo, if Jeep is smart
they will do a retro Cherokee to go up against the bronco, but I doubt it.

@5:55 it makes no sense.. the "Engine shutdown" has to do with which engine.. different transmissions also come into play at the nine-speed vs five speed... so the "issues" portion is irrelevant without more clarification.

ive driven both v6 and 4cyl turbo and i promise you the throttle response is far superior in the 4 cyl turbo over the v6 plus fuel economy is much better with th e4cyl turbo.

Any advantage you can think of for the V6 other than the extra 500lbs towing? If you were to buy one would it be a no-brainer to get the turbo?
