Good, balanced review. I bought an RR a few months ago now without even sitting on one and it’s just had its first service. Downsides: the standard can is too quiet and doesn’t do the bike justice; it’s windy over 60mph; I do a lot of motorway riding ( I commute on the RR) and it’s quite fatiguing. I have a double bubble on order I’m hoping will help. Like all of these bikes, it’s a nightmare to keep clean! Other than that , I love it. It makes a twisty stretch of road a thing of joy and beauty. The riding position won’t be for some .. but I came from a committed full tuck sports bike .. so find the RR luxurious in comparison. If you’re thinking of one, ask Triumph for an extended test ride before laying down your moolah (or not) and make your decision based on that.
Hi, how was the wind with the double bubble screen please? And which brand is it? To help keep a bike clean, spray it with silicone (keep away from the brakes) and wipe off - it’s simple and reduces cleaning.
So a double bubble works pretty well on the RR. I have a Puig for my bike. It takes the air off of your chest during normal riding and makes a difference at high speeds because you can tuck in under it. I use my RR as a canyon bike so it's not that relevant for me and so I put the stock screen back on. But yeah, it works fine. @@jamesdonoghue5907

@@nickloborec1416 I like that it feels smaller, lighter, and more compact than the Tuono. Probably because it is. The RR feels to me like a more modern design. One of the best looking bikes out right now. I took it out since I am looking right now but I’m 6’4” and with my proportions my knees are above the ridges on the tank. I need a 765 version of this bike with bars above the yoke similar to the Ducati Supersport S / RS660. No need to semi active suspension but I do want cruise control. It's a very pretty bike.
I ride Honda v-4. my bike handles and power very simaler to this bike. MY yoshamira exhaust sounds very good, not overload. I also put ABM straight bars on, Givi screen x-tra on top. I cruise North Idaho 100 mile evening ride. also 520 conversion chain, more torque .
Chops you’re the man!👏 Always entertained with your videos. Keep up the blessed work of the master of motorcycles ambassador of fun! Ok ok I know a little over-the-top, but I couldn’t help myself😂
Back in the day when I started riding, wheelie option is for free, that’s if you have the aptitude to do it, it’s amazing how manufacturers are able to monetize the motorcycle ability, it should be part in parcel when purchased
Love your enthusiasm as always you have something that makes me want to watch your just not boring ( my be because its still your hobby and not full time job) keep it up Chopsie 🤘
Great review Chopsy Such a nice bike . I would love to see a compo from the old 2003 Daytona to the modern one but there is hardly anything on the older models after 2002 on YT. I'm thinking about making a vid on mine before its to late. Cheers from NZ
Great comprehensive review. I think it's a lovely bike but I also think Triumph have got it a bit wrong & I'm not sure how many people will actually buy one. It seems stuck in the middle to me & totally agree the clips on should be above the yoke. There's also no excuse for the sub-par dash & interface really. Although all easy fixes if Triumph so chooses.
it was sold out within weeks at my local dealers so i think theyre doing damn well. especially for their retro loving audience. Its not for kawa riders who dont know anything without double headlights can look amazing. Its inbetween for a reason. Its for the younger audience with triumph dads like me
nice video chopsy that engine is a peach it sounds lovely the camera on the rear rear shock just shows how much work it's doing when riding good idea i have always loved triumph triples had a few myself .👍
I cruise high speed one handed for miles no problem and have wind protection or sit up and get wind . 2001 VFR intercepter. last of gear driven cams. I wouldn't trade for 2 v-tec models not the same.
As usual, chops, another great video. Had my Speed Triple 1200 RR for about 7/8 weeks now and covered 2100miles. One big trip to wales and a track day and overall I love the bike. Had the RS before which I also loved but the RR seemed to address all the slight issues I had with the RS so had to swap. Like you say though, I would have like them to fit the electronic suspension on the RS as well 👍🏼 Keep the vids coming mate, can't wait for a garage tour 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I absolutely loved the look of this bike and the power and sound... but it absolutely crippled me - I couldn't own one! (unless I was super rich and wanted a sunday bimble bike LOL)... Loved this vlog Chopsy!
I was quite interested in the bike, but Neevsy said he wouldn't buy one or recommend it. I don't like nanny electronics either, but we are Brits, this is the nanny state. If anyone has gone overboard with it, it's us.
Hi Chopsy, I loved the review of the RR. I think (unlike a lot of other reviews) you really get what Triumph are trying to achieve with this bike. BTW, how did you attach your phone to the top yoke?
May be like the Kawasaki z900RS Cafe (the one with clipons and fairing, not the naked one) That would be a bike I'd compare it with. looks wise, reminds me a bit of the MV Agusta Superveloce retro looking thing, but that is a smaller displacement (almost half) sports bike. But this bike is on its own category? The Old Jixers may be like it, but not sure about the newer ones. Gorgeous on that red scheme. Triump does have good paints.
Where on earth can you mount a satnav holder on the RR ? I noticed Chopsy has Ultimate Addon but can’t see any fitting on UA website which would fit - any tips on where to look for one pls ?
Some interesting insights Chopsy! Appears the RR is a few tweaks away from being a bit easier to live with and still retain the sporty character. An option for bar risers and clean up the electronics, etc.
Thanks for the review! I currently have a 2022 BMW S1000R and am looking in a second sport bike. Would you recommend this bike as a good contrast and is it considered a supersport bike for insurance purposes? Thanks!!
Interesting your slightly different view to Neevesy, where he was less positive but shared your issue (to a greater extent than you) about the wristiness of the RR. May be because you and he are differently shaped, and the greater height might make the RR more tolerable than for a slightly shorter chap. That was a nice review - thanks
John different subject but at the minute there's an ohlins shock for the Gsxr for sale on eBay 07''08 forks with k,tec internals maybe of use ,, from the same fella,, triumph looks nice 👍☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
great review Chops not for me this bike but it will be popular with the Triumph following Think i saw you Sunday morning in the Wimbourne Garage as we went by on a ZH2 with a Z900
Made the decision after 6 months that mine had to go. Bars too low although legroom is fine. Your neck is just cricked back too far. Gearchange is very very stiff & nigh on impossible to get in to neutral & a dash that is still waking up after you have started etc plus a few software & electronic glitches. Amazing in small doses but they have made a bike for rich people in there 50s like me who are over the cramped sports bike riding position but give the bike an identical riding position, we will never know that their thinking was. Check out Neevesys latest long term review, exactly the same opinion as me. Alas i think Triumph have got it wrong & these will start piling up on showroom floors. Beautiful looks though.
I had a similar experience when testing the Speed triple 1200. Hard suspension and stiff gearbox. Had to go electric now as Paris has stopped petrol bikes parking anywhere! But have to say that I love my Zero FXE and is way faster than a stree triple up to 60!
Because I had a 2017 Triumph T120 and a 2016 Thruxton R (non faired) I found that the two bikes were just too similar and the Thruxton is the better of the two so I decided to trade in my T120 for this speed triple RR. When I saw one in the showroom though I was a little underwhelmed. Its such a petite bike - beautiful but petite just like the standard speed triple RS and so I thought it lacked enough street presence. In the end I went for a new Panigale V2 Troy Bayliss edition and think I made the right decision.
As the owner of a Thruxton R/S with the fairing. It’s a no from me. Electronic issues/the dash would put me off. And I haven’t test rode it, have they chased top end power over mid range? The clips on, part of the cafe racer style. So wouldn’t be an issue.
Please Triumph, put that suspension set up on the Speed Triple and you have a potential class leading naked, given what most tests say about the Speed Triple, oh and may be a couple more colour choices.
Chopsy.... I also hate the word influencer yet due to your objectivity, honesty and experience I consider your reviews to be far more influential than those of the influencers! Figure that out 🤣 My head hurts 🤣
Great review as always. Thanks for that. Different bikes, but if you had to choose between Speed Tripple RR or KTM Superduke R, which would you have in your garage?
@@LambChopRides Thanks! I think I'd prefer the superduke as well even though I'm smaller in stature at 5'8". It just doesn't seem to do anything badly and what a motor from ALL the reviews I've read. Thanks!
Don't understand Neeves review🤷♀️ Got the RS and it is great on the road and track draws plenty of admirers and anyone that rides it is tempted to buy one.
Yes im in tbe same dilemma- what did you go for and why? I took a s1000r out came very close to putting in an over on it as i literally sat on the fence. Then more recently remembered this 1200rr. Due a test ride later on the 1200rr in January- looking forward to it. Ive had mv f3 800- like the triple. Bmw - very smooth easy to ride but not very engaging unless in the last 40% of its rev range. Brillant bike but too polished??
Because the market has moved away from sports tourers. The closest you'll find now is the Tiger 1200. It's a shame they dropped the Tiger Sport as that really is the best of all worlds.
Yep, those clip-ons are too low. I’ve sat on the RR at my dealer several times wanting to like the riding position but I always come away with the same thought “why couldn’t they be just a couple inches higher”. I’ve even contemplated the idea of cutting into the fairing to make room for higher clip-ons. Such a gorgeous bike, but that supersport riding position is enough to keep me away. Still searching for the perfect bike myself…
Chops I think the BMW 1000rr is more comfortable, what do u think? Breakfast at the Chalet in Cowfold for 9am if your about in the area. How’s Womble haven’t seen him much in the channel. Keep up the good work🏍💨💨
You raised a very good question/point, In this day and age (competition amongst manufacturers is really getting stiff/challenging plus the addition of euro 5 emissions and it seems as it had influenced manufacturers to come up with these style/type of bikes) in my opinion, ideology or perception of riding motorcycle somehow look like it has deviated of its coarse hence the 50/50 split opinion/s. It’s a tough market that you and I play in unfortunately hehehe,I’m from Toronto, Canada and I personally own a 2022 triumph speed triple 1200 RR (colour red), and i do agree as aforementioned by the reviewer…. I look at this bike like a politician, you get blinded by its looks and makes you think that it has all the answers for everything … but it does not, though it’s in my top-5-bikes.
While learning to drive a car in the '70's my driving instructor (a lady... (Val ...🙂)....pretty rare back then) would nag me something rotten if I held onto the gearstick longer than necessary. She said "if anything happens while you only have one hand on the wheel, I can guarantee that you'll have wished you had had two" Even now, as soon as I engage the 'cruise control' thingybob on the bike to take a breather, ('clip on' style bars) she's sat on my shoulder nagging....🤣 (She was IAM Instuctor)
Your comments on the electronics ie unable to turn wheelie control off etc is their a software update you can get or a dealer override to set the bike up to your requirements 🤔 ta mate
The problem Triumph have, is they designed the bike with a cafe racer look, the bikini fairing will not allow for a higher bar position without cutting away most of the plastic and shape or making it much more bulbous. Its surprising for anyone who hasn’t tried fitting higher bars to a bike how difficult it is to get the bars to fit and clear everything.
Just done 1500miles around Scotland on my S1000RR, used cruise control a lot and it helped keep my wrists feeling fresh. Without it I’m sure my riding would of been worse with aching sore wrists. It’s something I’d hope the police would take into account, providing your not waving your hands like a twat haha.
I love the style of this bike (the half fairing), I love the sound and the triple engine, I love the quality. I don’t like the front light mount which is really at odds with the fairing surrounding it. Also this bike is so boring to look at it could easily be a bmw. I’d probably still buy it but not to feast my eyes. I do get why some like its looks though. It’s almost there…
Nice bike. I just don’t like the way the front looks. BTW the difference between unlawful and illegal…………….unlawful is against the law and illegal is a sick bird !
Thank goodness your review is much more balanced than another another YT channel I could mention. That review was utter sh1t and I won’t be wasting my time with their videos any more. Brilliant review Chopsy for restoring my belief in reviewers. Yes I don’t agree with any reviews that are ‘Everything is brilliant’ or ‘Everything is terrible’. Wonderful video sir!
I think the owner experiences of faults, particularly in relation to electronics, has tarnished the reputation of this bike. Not surprised that dealers are having to discount them. Even as a previous Triumph owner & fan it’s a big no from me.
I want to like the new sponsors as their idea is a good (if not great) one, but their TH-cam channel is still showing a video from 2016 "reviewing" £20 Aldi motorcycle boots as sturdy, when they look like they'll shred at the first sign of some asphalt. Maybe have a word and get them to update their socials?

I hope Triumph do a slightly revised version of the RR, it's very close to being exceptional, it's already very good. Good review as always Chopsy 👍
Haha thanks Dukie 👍
Back in the day when I started riding, wheelie option is for free, that’s if you have the aptitude to do it, it’s amazing how manufacturers are able to monetize the motorcycle ability, it should be part in parcel when purchased
Love it
Good looking bike to
Great vid chops 👍
Love your enthusiasm as always you have something that makes me want to watch your just not boring ( my be because its still your hobby and not full time job) keep it up Chopsie 🤘
Thanks Mark 👍
That was a brilliant review.👍
De-nanny the electronics, Triumph. Listen to Chopsy!!!
Brilliant review! Stunning looking motorcycle!
I love the sound
Its for the younger audience with triumph dads like me
nice video chopsy that engine is a peach it sounds lovely the camera on the rear rear shock just shows how much work it's doing when riding good idea i have always loved triumph triples had a few myself .👍
thanks mate
I cruise high speed one handed for miles no problem and have wind protection or sit up and get wind . 2001 VFR intercepter. last of gear driven cams. I wouldn't trade for 2 v-tec models not the same.
The bike looks gorgeous and pulls away very smoothly. I still only lust after a Superduke though
Like you say though, I would have like them to fit the electronic suspension on the RS as well 👍🏼
Keep the vids coming mate, can't wait for a garage tour 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks LeBeuf 👍
I absolutely loved the look of this bike and the power and sound... but it absolutely crippled me - I couldn't own one! (unless I was super rich and wanted a sunday bimble bike LOL)... Loved this vlog Chopsy!
Thanks Kate 👍
Great to see this review. It’s about the closest I’ll ever go to getting on one. Influencer, evaluator, hoon take your pick,
Haha thanks Andrew 👍
Good review as always Chopsy
I was quite interested in the bike, but Neevsy said he wouldn't buy one or recommend it. I don't like nanny electronics either, but we are Brits, this is the nanny state. If anyone has gone overboard with it, it's us.
You have certainly influenced me to want a speed triple rs chops 😆
Thanks Chipsy. Interesting app from the new sponsors.
is there any room to use some slightly raised bars with the ferring? or is it going to cause clearance issues?
Lovely bike not sure about low bars ,like to see a sports tourer version with panniers higher bars adjustable screen,
2:58 That is a shockingly low refresh rate compared to the dash on my honda civic. What is it, like 10 fps?
Another good review Lamb Chop
Some interesting insights Chopsy! Appears the RR is a few tweaks away from being a bit easier to live with and still retain the sporty character. An option for bar risers and clean up the electronics, etc.
Thanks Paul 👍
Thanks for the review! I currently have a 2022 BMW S1000R and am looking in a second sport bike. Would you recommend this bike as a good contrast and is it considered a supersport bike for insurance purposes? Thanks!!
Interesting your slightly different view to Neevesy, where he was less positive but shared your issue (to a greater extent than you) about the wristiness of the RR. May be because you and he are differently shaped, and the greater height might make the RR more tolerable than for a slightly shorter chap. That was a nice review - thanks
Great vid stunning bike and sounds great chops 👍
Great video again riding without both hands on the bars could be seen as riding without due care and attention if spotted by the law
John different subject but at the minute there's an ohlins shock for the Gsxr for sale on eBay 07''08 forks with k,tec internals maybe of use ,, from the same fella,, triumph looks nice 👍☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
Oh nice Cecil 👍
The correct term is ‘sticks like shit to a blanket’! Greetings from Oz 😂
Does anyone know if Triumph do a handlebar accesory for the RR ? Which brings it in line with the RS ?
Well of course, I want one of these as well 😁
great review Chops not for me this bike but it will be popular with the Triumph following Think i saw you Sunday morning in the Wimbourne Garage as we went by on a ZH2 with a Z900
Yes I was there 😁👍
Made the decision after 6 months that mine had to go.
Exactly, right now there's just a red one in my city with -2000€ in the showroom. Everyone pick photos but nobody buy it
I think we need an ST version but without all the TFT stuff, and more basic electronic stuff
That is why I have the S1000XR, what have you decided on as a relacement?
@@petervautmans199 SDR 1290R
Yes being a bigger guy I wish they would make the bikes a bit physically bigger!
good content as always, it must be illegal to ride no handed surely. I bet mr plod would want to have words if he saw you doing it lol
As the owner of a Thruxton R/S with the fairing. It’s a no from me. Electronic issues/the dash would put me off. And I haven’t test rode it, have they chased top end power over mid range? The clips on, part of the cafe racer style. So wouldn’t be an issue.
Neevesy (mcn) said it was really cramped, wristy and uncomfortable. He's a 6 footer too. 🤔
I could also use a couple of inches , typical Triumph electronics
I believe that you will never find the perfect bike but with a few personal mods on any bike we can get close
Please Triumph, put that suspension set up on the Speed Triple and you have a potential class leading naked, given what most tests say about the Speed Triple, oh and may be a couple more colour choices.
It’s the colour choices for me. Give me a street or speed in the orange you can order the trident in!
Chopsy.... I also hate the word influencer yet due to your objectivity, honesty and experience I consider your reviews to be far more influential than those of the influencers! Figure that out 🤣 My head hurts 🤣
Thanks Jason 👍
Hi thx for rewiev, im also 188 cm 95 kg and is this bike can be a comfy traveling between cities around 400 km or will it be painful?
Great review as always. Thanks for that. Different bikes, but if you had to choose between Speed Tripple RR or KTM Superduke R, which would you have in your garage?
It would be the superduke because its a bit bigger physically fits me better
@@LambChopRides Thanks! I think I'd prefer the superduke as well even though I'm smaller in stature at 5'8". It just doesn't seem to do anything badly and what a motor from ALL the reviews I've read. Thanks!
Don't understand Neeves review🤷♀️
Got the RS and it is great on the road and track draws plenty of admirers and anyone that rides it is tempted to buy one.
Yeah I watched that today, he was very harsh on the bike I thought..
Great review - I am considering this bike. As I am a similar height, 6 foot, would you buy this or a Hyabusa?
This is prettier, hayabusa more comfortable
Yeah Hayabusa is more comfortable
@@LambChopRides Hyabusa it is methinks
This or the S1000R? Also, which would you rather tour on?
Yes im in tbe same dilemma- what did you go for and why?
I took a s1000r out came very close to putting in an over on it as i literally sat on the fence.
Then more recently remembered this 1200rr. Due a test ride later on the 1200rr in January- looking forward to it.
Ive had mv f3 800- like the triple.
Bmw - very smooth easy to ride but not very engaging unless in the last 40% of its rev range. Brillant bike but too polished??
Great review, a lovely bike, but out of my price range. But why don't Triumph make a 1200 ST sports tourer, that would be the bike I would buy
Hopefully Helibars come out with a set for it, then it will be Perfect!
Chops I think the BMW 1000rr is more comfortable, what do u think?
Breakfast at the Chalet in Cowfold for 9am if your about in the area. How’s Womble haven’t seen him much in the channel. Keep up the good work🏍💨💨
Hmm not sure on that as high pegs on the S1000RR, the bars actually could be a bit closer to you on that though!
@@LambChopRides Chops the pegs are adjustable though on the S1000rr I think🤙🏻
@@markbaker5221 he had one for a while, I think the lowest setting is still higher.
Weird. Neeves review said the power was lazy down low and the steering was slow. He also hated the brake feel.
Bike looks lovely, I’m just a little confused by it 😆. It’s also really interesting watching your thoughts vs the MCN review/opinion.
You raised a very good question/point,
In this day and age (competition amongst manufacturers is really getting stiff/challenging plus the addition of euro 5 emissions and it seems as it had influenced manufacturers to come up with these style/type of bikes) in my opinion, ideology or perception of riding motorcycle somehow look like it has deviated of its coarse hence the 50/50 split opinion/s.
Yeah saw the MCN vid today, thought they were very harsh on the bike
@@LambChopRides I thought the same, but hey, lucky us right, we’re benefited to complain.
@@LambChopRides bitter chaps
Both hands on, to be legal
How does a 280 lb (20 stone) man evaluate a stock suspension setup?
Carefully..
With lots of preload I imagine 😂
Crushingly 😅
Interesting to see Mr Neeves of MCN absolutely slated this bike
I don’t know if I trade my Tuono 2021 for one of this..
Yes exactly, you can also steer with your body so it's not the same as a car
I love the style of this bike (the half fairing), I love the sound and the triple engine, I love the quality. I don’t like the front light mount which is really at odds with the fairing surrounding it. Also this bike is so boring to look at it could easily be a bmw. I’d probably still buy it but not to feast my eyes. I do get why some like its looks though. It’s almost there…
Would you compare it to the katana? The only difference is katana handle bars.
Um I would say Katana is a bit more of a naked
I believe that would constitute "riding without due care and attention" so yes, it is illeagle for a rider not to be in control of the machine.
Love the Realrider intro and video 😉 Ben from DC 👍
Thanks Ben 😁👍
Thanks Mike 👍
Sangria!? At this time of day!? Mid week!??!
Ok, you don't have to tell me twice 😁
Get it down you're neck 😁👍
Can't watch it now chopsy, knockhilllll braaaap.
Yes it's elegal both hands off bars I think its careless riding
If you're looking for the perfect bike, then choose the GSX-R1000 K6 or the 2008-2010 Fireblade and you're set.
