Thank god someone’s riding it with the suspension adjusted for a normal road ride where it will spend 99% of its time. It never fails to amaze me the amount of people complaining about adjustable suspension then never bothering to adjust it. Nice one ☝️

Definitely right there buddy, drives me nuts when so called pro road testers say the suspension is stiff. It’s Ohlins for Christ sake , it’s top end stuff and designed to be adjusted to suite. I also wish pro riders stop telling us about its failings on a track as most people buy a road bike to ride on the road. Who cares if the brakes fade a little after braking from 150mph after 5 flat out track laps. It’s not a Moto GP bike it’s a road bike. Also who cares about doing wheelies, if you get caught on the road doing them you are in for a ban. It’s an awesome bike I’m sure I’d love one.

You would think with the amount of keyless cars being stolen. Bikes wouldn't go the same way.
The stupidest keyless are the semi keyless. Ignition is keyless but you need to get the fob/key out for petrol and removing the seat.
I really don't understand the enthusiasm for keyless vehicles.
Is it because we are getting lazy and the effort of getting keys out is just to much for some or am I just old?
    Nice review 👍

Something tells me it's an economic decision. It's probably becoming cheaper to manufacturer keyless than have a quality lock tumbler. Also you'll probably need to get new keys programmed at some point in the future which is more revenue for the dealer

I agree, some of the bigger magazine type testers complained that it was stiff suspension. It’s fully adjustable and top draw stuff as road bikes go. Surely a pro magazine rider can tweak the suspension to suit, makes you wonder for sure. Most riders don’t need to keep dicking about with the suspension once it’s set up anyway. It’s great to see Lamb Chops do a review because he is so enthusiastic.

Out of that list the MT-10 got the nod from me, I had one and really regret trading it for a KTM 1290, KTM electronics are finicky at best, the S1000R was too clinical (Fast, accurate, smooth but left me cold) although the new version is supposed to be way more fun, Speed Triple and Tuono just crippled me.

Great review & a lovely bike. Not aimed at you at all Chops as I know you're not complaining, but I've never understood why testers & reviewers moan about fully adjustable suspension.....& then make no attempt to change it. By all means say it's too hard or soft from the factory but then surely you need to see if the suspension is good enough to dial out whatever is considered to be the issue. It's just frustrating & lazy imo.

And your riding comments just makes it complete.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

To be fair, a triple isn't anything new with Japan. While triples really have some unique character, torque production, etc. they aren't as sublimely smooth as an inline-4. Triples have the imbalance issues called "rocking-couple" and it's felt in most of them. It's a course feeling tingle that comes through all contact points. Some fours have a terrible vibration issue too, but there are a few standouts that are absolutely butter. Fours can be very torquey but they have to be built and tuned for that purpose.

This being said, the very unpleasant gearbox of the Triumph is really a showstopper for me.

Thank you for a great review. I own a Streetfighter V4S and I find it a bit to difficult to live with on a day to day basis. It is like sitting on top of a stove in slow traffic and it consumes fuel like a car (07.2 litres/100km). You are saying that you can get 120-130 miles on a tank, is that until you are entirely out of gas, or until the refuel-light turns on? I get around 150km (90 miles) on the V4S until the refuel light goes on.

I would have loved this bike, but the issue with the gearbox to find the neutral, the impossibility to set apart traction control from wheelie control, the lack of semi active suspensions (electronic), the fact that people complain also about the engine getting quite hot sometimes, the small capacity fuel tank and last but not least : the inferior reliability when compared to a japanese bike, made me wanna go toward an MT 10 SP which i think is overall a better bike.

I found the quickshifter cut the power for a fraction too long and wasn't as quick or smooth as the one on my Street RS. I also went into neutral lots going from 2nd to 1st coming up to junctions etc. The gearbox would probably get better with use and you getting used to it tho I guess. The dash is sooo slow to start up and do anything! Surely it wouldn't have cost much more to get a slightly quicker CPU in there to make things more snappy!? Other than that, it's an incredible bike!

Did you ever ride the 1050 Speed Triple? I had a 2006 S3 and the reviews for it constantly used the word hooligan for all the right reasons! The short wheelbase and low down torque made for a wheelie machine that was all day comfortable but always ready for a track day. Is the new 1200 engine still torque in the low end like the old 1050? Is it still a hooligan machine or have they made it into a high revving sport bike?

Very interested in your comments on the suspension, I've often been surprised how rarely road testers take the trouble to do a bit of basic set up to fit in with their weight, riding style etc. Think we all know what a massive difference it can make to the feel of a bike.
