      She's a beautiful young woman. And I love her sense of humor. I think a stair runner would help soften the dark paint and brighten the stairwell.
      I am exhausted watching you work . We removed carpet from our stairs, sanded, sanded, did I say sanded? Stained the treads and painted the risers. Phew...

    When using paint stripper on furniture, I have found it very useful to put a big piece of SaranWrap over the stripper as it sits and let it sit longer than directed and it REALLY makes the difference of it doing the heavy lifting and scraping for you. I know you already put in the elbow grease but if you have another project that comes up, I would recommend trying it to save your arms!❤️ Amazing work as always my friend, I always look forward to these with my morning coffee on Saturday mornings!

    I helped my Mom about 65 years ago to do a similar finish on a wall where we lived then, but we just used paint and rags. Scrunched up the fabric and dabbed it into paint in several pale colours and dabbed it onto the wall overlapping the colours. We called it distemper then, and it looked pretty nice but no texture to speak of, naturally. We were all do it yourselfers in those days and still are, it's cheaper! 😊 I painted my basement stairs with porch paint about 30 years ago and it's still good. It was terribly smelly though, back then, had every window open for days. Fabulous job, you've done it again! 😊👍👍👍

    It looks fantastic Danie!
    Had a thought though.... the stained rail/ledge/edge is so beautiful. Maybe in the future the stair treads themselves could be replaced with the same stain and the underside painted white? Just a 💭 . The plant adds just the right touch.
    Be proud! That was a LOT of work! So glad your dad and brother stepped up and helped again, oh and I love y’all singing and goofing off! It makes the videos so fun to watch! Excellent job and it looks great! You’re style is a little different than my own, am a tad more traditional but your rubbing off, the final results are always better than expected, somewhat minimal and fit your home to a T!

    • @sveapollock2537
      @sveapollock2537 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a drastic change for the better. I agree about the stair treads. However, I know that replacing stair treads is an expensive project. But you can make your own if you are willing to take the time to rout a rounded edge on all of them. It’s a big job. (Don’t ask. I just know. ) if they and the board were stained a color closer to your beams I would like that. Not I know your floors are the special walnut stain so I get why you used that on the wood trim. It’s soooo beautiful. What a difference it makes. Kudos to you, Corbin, and your Dad for a wonderful job. Well done!

    You can use flat posters or glue/nail highly textured empty picture frames to the wall as an architectural detail. Thrift stores usually have a lot of really textured frames. This way, they will not get knocked down when you carry something up :)

    Love that textured wall! it's subtle, but adds so much! And LOVE the plant draping down in the corner. Removing that little bulkhead had to have felt so good. Lovely as always, Danie!

    Although most ppl complain that black floors are hard to keep clean, they are hard to pass up. The stairs look beautiful! Great job per usual!

    I have done this technique in a room before. I used yellows and oranges that were too bright, so I then rubbed on a stain with some paper towels to tone it all down. The darker stain remained in the crevices and just brought out the character of the effort. It turned out amazingly and would absolutely do it again.

    Danie: This is a really calming activity (applying the textured wall)
    Me: My OCD is screaming, NOooooo, the wall is so pristine and smooth, it really hurt to watch lmao
    Said with no hate, and all love

    Nice work Danie. My favorite part was when your family (brother and father) pitched in to assist you with the work. I love it when family members work together on a project such as this one. Now for the work. I liked the brown board, haha. I think it helps to transition your living room to the staircase; the wood grain also looks nice and "natural". I also liked the choice of prints. Once, again, nice work Danie.

    You might consider adding led light for the steps because it will be very dark and a potential death trap walking down the stair.

    This turned out lovely! If your Ivy does not like living there a light color tapestry or textured light rug would look nice on that wall and perhaps add the illusion of height. I am thrilled that you are giving this old home new life. So beautiful!
