For cattle, divide the pasture up so you can rotate them from pasture to pasture. That way they always have a fresh field and the others have time to recover from being grazed.
Yes, you need to incorporate regenerative grazing into your rotation. Perhaps three (5 acre sections) to five (3 acre sections) to allow time for the grass to regrow depending on how many cows (Angus?) you end up buying.
Congratulations on the new addition to the acreage Nathan! Nothing like sharing your vision as the next caretaker to land that has been tended for generations. Enjoy every bit of it 😊
Nathan, seeing you and your dad working on the equipment reminds me of two little boys playing with their Tonka excavator and loader out in the backyard. lol
Nathan, I love the post remover. No struggle or hassle, just pull them up..Very happy for you for the new pole barn, the 15 acres, and the quality equipment to get the job done. Keep selling the lumber and get everything paid off and out of debt.
You’re always hard at it Nathan, and we can all see the rewards you’re gaining from that hard work. You’re a credit to yourself and your family. Keep going and stay healthy mate. 👍🏼
a very happy 4th of July, Nathan...greetings from San Francisco, the fog is rolling in after several days of wonderfully warm weather here...typical for the 4th...I truly enjoy your videos and look forward to seeing the log house...say hello to Bruno and your wife! many blessings!
You are probably gonna have to cut a ditch on the backside of that pole barn to divert water coming off that hill. Also been a surveyor for forty years and that instrument is a laser level. A transit is used to turn angles and such. Congrats on the new land and the pole barn👍👍
Hi. I was pleased to hear that you named the 3.5 acre parcel you bought as “Red Barn Acres”. I had suggested that a little while back, and maybe others did also. If you’d like a name for the new acreage you recently purchased that has the hay field, maybe this would work for you: “Bruno’s Meadow”. Anyway, this is all good fun and I enjoy hearing about your accomplishments. Keep going.
Now it’s official, Out of the Woods and on to the Farm! Lovely! And I’d say your Dad and You were both doing a fine job with your machines. I can’t wait to see your building go up and how it becomes The Wood Miser Wig Wam! That extra 12 foot lean to would be great for lumber and I hope you can afford to. If not I’m sure later. One seems to never have enough room and with equipment that barn will be a treasure. Speaking of which that log house is indeed a treasure as well. There are quite a few log houses in my area and they are magnificent structures that built our country. Having seen and even worked on old log structures in the past, I can see yours clearly! Thanks Nathan and Many Blessings to all the Elliot Family! Now get in that pool so Bruno can teach you a few things! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
FANTASTIC , so happy for you and your families Nathan. Bringing together all that land around you , that's going to be awesome. Looking forward to the Sawmill building and shed area being used and getting the new OLD OFFICE into operation. Stay safe and keep up the great videos and the progress you are making happen around there. Fred.
Have you seen the heavy duty vinyl/plastic sleeves that they put on the poles that go in the ground so they never come in contact with the soil and will never rot. They come about 1-2ft above the hole! Just a thought!😊❤
Dear Nathan, a few days ago, my (now) wife - and you - surprised me with a video of you greeting us and wishing us a good wedding and future. Thank you for taking the time! Much appreciated. I have followed you since 2020, and really appreciate your content. Greeting from Anders and Andrea in Norway!
When you get to fencing take a look at what Even did on Country View Acres as he partnered with a Tennessee company. Maybe you can do the same thing. Congrats on expanding your property.
Congratulations Nathan on expanding the property, sounds like a great plan to make your operation work a lot easier. That log house looks a fine place for an office.
If you're going to cut down the top corner the you need to back up at lease 20 feet to cut a swell around that corner or put up a concrete wall higher than the 20 feet. Not only the rain from the roof but the hill side will give you trouble. Have fun and stay safe!
An interesting project. Go for the side exstension of about 12 foot you will find it very useful. May I suggest that go for two other projects on the new barn and that is harvest the water that comes off the roof area. I harvest only half of my bungalow roof into 4x 1000 litre food grade tanks so never short of water for the garden plants. You get livestock onto the property and you will need water. The other thing is to put solar panels on the roof or onto a ground aray and store the power into a decent size battery, say 11 kw. Also once you know where you are going to keep the stock, use you skid loader to scoop out a decent sized pond, or dam as the Aussies call them. 23 acres is a good working size property. Thanks for all the videos Nathan and your time doing them.
Congrats on additional land added & 1850 Log Cabin w/history is so neat. Looking forward to pole barn & hope you share its cost. Happy Independence Day..
great video Nathan I love log homes I grew up in a log house in putnam county Tennessee good luck with the new land its great investment better then gold
Great purchase there, I had a very good friend that used to live just over the hill from you. He had a barnwood house on the left past you. That is a great piece of real estate in that area. Keep up the good videos
My brother used to say, horse shoes, hand grenades, & foundations . . . . close is what counts. You seem to be excited about the building. I'm excited for you.
Proud for you Nathan. Love to see your passion and vision for your families future. You don’t get to see people with initiative and the work ethic to accomplish their goals👍. Happy 4th to all
So I got turned on to your channel about a month ago. I want you to know how much I love your content. From the editing to the camera work the content itself. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here. By the way the guitar music you use is just ethereal. It really speaks to my heart😊
Well you are certainly increasing your property Nathan which I presume will increase the number of cattle you eventually decide to run. They will certainly save you some mowing time. I am looking forward to seeing your new equipment shed going up & I think the 'lean 2' would be a good idea if you go ahead with it. Hopefully you will be able to position the sawmill in such a way as to give you more protection from the rain when milling. What do you plan to do with the current milling shed? Good video thanks mate. Cheers, Don from South Australia.
WOW! A lot covered in a little over 20 minutes. Exciting too. I hope you can see clear to adding the lean to. Being able to add 12' or 24' more really sets you up for the future. Are you planning on moving your kiln down here by the sawmill? Looking forward to seeing inside your log cabin/office. Your property is clearing up nicely. Take care, have fun, jack
Nathan, Happy Independence Day from Lake Norman, NC! It appeared to me like your Dad did well on his first experience of operating the excavator. My grandsons would be delighted to watch the equipment! Congrats on acquiring the new property.
My dad always said: you can never have too much land. We’ve gone from 1 acre to 4. Have our eyes on the 8 acres across the road, but can’t get the old man to sell to us. At least not yet. 😄
Only thing that worries me is, you mentioned there's a bunch of organic debris (that old barn) buried under the site of the new sawmill? I understand that normally that's a no-no for under new buildings. But maybe it won't be such a big deal for a something like a sawmill pole barn sort of thing. But congrats on the new purchases! I understand the new setup better after going over to google maps. Looks nice!
Please build up your soil pad where the sawmill building will sit. You dont want water running back beneath your roof or walls to be a mess wether you have concrete or not.

Dad did a very respectable job, especially for a first time.

We lived in middle Tennessee years ago. Our street was “Hayfield Square”. You can guess it used to be a hay field!
Awesome watching the barn job site wearing my new Barn Raising T-Shirt
Absolutely Dad did excellent on his first time on the excavator 🤠🙏🇺🇸

Great American entrepreneurship. Your hard work and determination is clearly paying off so congratulations.

The 'Out of the Woods' empire is slowly expanding. Good idea to get your editing workspace down near the 'new' sawmill.
I'm excited for you.
You made a wonderful deal with all that hay land acres and the small cabin. What a good little office and also some nice guestrooms!
We agree!
I love the yellow and white on the house, which I used on my 1967 mobile home. Age is just a number.

You have a very interesting place. Any more property close by that you would like to purchase?
Elliot Enterprises LLC. Looking to your needs for the future. Great video Nathan thumbs up.
I had lean to’s put on both sides of my barn. Best decision I have ever made.

The ol' man done good alrigth...Looked like a natural sittin in it.
As far as your dad working on the excavator, faster doesn’t always make better. He did a great job at the pace he took.
Thanks 👍
Happy 4th to you and your family, you will never regret more room with the lean-to.
Thx
Fire sound. Get in the pool with your boy and cool off. You deserve it. You work so hard

Hey Nathan, I like your plan on the building. I'm guessing that will save a lot of money!
That's the plan!
are you going to have issues with water running into the building?
MM77 Approved 👍🏻 👍🏻
I used to work for a Spectra dealer. Very nice lasers, should do you well for quite a while
Whats the going rate for one of those round bales?
