You know Nathan, spend as much time with your boy as you can. My oldest son just moved into his own house recently and holy cow it’s so strange around home without him here. Time goes by way too fast. Blink twice and 25 years is gone. I like that trailer you were using.
Funny that in the start if this video you had all that wishy-washy fluid and at the end you commented on how filthy the windshield is filthy! I think it's fantastic you include Bruno in some of your content and that you take the time out of your day to share some time together. You're a good man and a great father I'm sure!
thank you
Tracker rides beat wood cutting any day, in my book. Especially with a great sidekick like Bruno. That looks like great fun. Thanks for taking us, too.
Right on!
I thought your list from a while back had the chicken coop boards going up? Must not have been starred. I am still amazed at how much you get done everyday especially as you are so good with your dad and your son. Take care
I got really lucky when I went to my Walmart two weeks ago. They had the purple washer fluid, rated to 25 below for $3.99. The blue washer fluid, rated to 20 below, was not priced. I asked how much the blue was and the clerks' said 50 cents a gallon. I asked again and then bought 8 gallons. I'm 71, so it could be a lifetime supply for my $4 bucks. I don't drive much, but I plan to live to past 100.
good find!
Firewood can wait. Enjoy your ride with Bruno!!!
Nathan, firewood can wait. Kids are only kids once.
I like the music on this video, nice change from the usual
Thanks 👍
DAMMIT BOY!!! You are getting downright professional with your cuts & shot setups.
I absolutely love it, & I know how much work it is to set up the camera, & then to edit all that footage together.
Absolutely awesome how much you've grown as a video creator. So proud of, & happy for you, Nathan.
how ironic you notice you needed to clean your windshield on the same video that you buy all of that washer fluid! LOL 😀
I know, right?
@@OutoftheWoods0623 👍👍😉
Mixing your own washer fluid would save you quite a bit in the long run and can be tailored to your conditions. Only 3 ingredients: Dawn liquid detergent, Rubbing alcohol and water. Lots of DIY videos on it.
You are such a good dad!
Good onya Bruno! 👍🏼
Hi, you mentioned , in the last video and todays that walnut is not good for the garden. Why. And a lovely video. Thanks
Walnut has toxins in it that are bad for some fruiting plants like tomatoes. You can use it, but it has to be composted a lot longer to break down.
Prior planning prevents poor performance. It also helps helps to develop a viable work ethic.
Idk, my uncle's were all old French Canadian,
They'd plan so much, the day would be gone by the time they got a plan together.
Then the next day one of them would say,
"You know, last night when I got home, I got to thinking..."
... Another day of planning and discussion the best way to approach the task. 🤷
You hit the nail on the head when you said “...it’s kinda hard to start sometimes.”
I’ve always found that figuring out where to start is the biggest challenge to any project, but once done everything else just seems to fall into place.
Good thing you got 9 gallons of windshield washer fluid. Get that polished right up.
Just an idea.
As a chip collector, how about one of those white plastic totes with the metal frame like you used for your firewood.
Cut the top out, then throw the top back on. The loose top should keep the chips in without trapping air and causing back pressure.
Remove the center screw cap and drop a pipe from the exit pipe you have now.
Mr.Cato should be able to handle the weight. With the metal pallet built into the base you can pick up and move easily, then slip under the base with the forks to tip it over and use the forks to lift to empty.
They generally weight about 120-130 empty so it should be no problem to right it.
Once you have it back in position, throw the loose top back on and reposition the drop pipe, and repeat as needed.
If your worried about water collection the large spigot at the bottom would let out any water that the weather put in there.
Enjoy your work and videos, thanks for all you do for us and your family.
God Bless and take care.
Taking your son for a ride should be more important. Your a good dad!!
I totally agree!
this got to be one of the most wholesome channels out there. Not sure what it's like from the inside, but from the outside it sure looks like you've setup your life in a way that is... proper, by lack of a better word
That tape measure holder of yours looks handy. Can’t count how many times at my sawmill I have to go back and forth to get my tape measure! Great video.
Glad it was helpful!
You'll save a ton of money by making your own windshield washer fluid...for pennies on the gallon. Water, alcohol, soap...tons of resources on the web. You could probably make a 50 gallon barrel full for about 5 bucks.
Thanks for sharing with us Nathan and Bruno. Loved the milling of the cedar, and had a good time on the ride today too. You all stay safe out there and keep up the good work. Fred.
Hey Nathan, I was just watching you place logs up on your sleepers next to the mill, and I remembered that you said you sometimes set the logs in there so that one end misses the lifting rollers, and I thought “if those sleepers were aligned with the rollers, you’d never miss them again.
I cut off the top corner of pages every day. The current day and all past days have the corner cut off. No paper clip needed.
You do an incredible job of videoing and editing, Excellent production, narrative, and sawyering skills.
It is no wonder you have over 182 k subscribers. And .... you are your own boss and determine what's important.
I often walked in to the supermarket and forgot what i went in for
Then there's the garage. 😂
over 50 ? right ?
I am at the point I dont have to leave the room before I forget what I needed to get
My wife once sent me to the c-store for a gallon of milk. There was a bread truck in front of the store and I bought bread. When I got home she asked for the milk and I only had a loaf of bread and she asked why I bought bread so I had to explain. To that she replied, “ it’s a good thing it wasn’t a beer truck”.
@@patbullard9276 that happened the last 2 weeks went in and got a few things got home and like you i forgot the milk and coffee filters 😅 🙃
Man Bruno's growing up quick. I'm going to have to look up this game channel. My son might like it 🙏
Love your channel! In addition to being a great sawyer, you are a great dad to Bruno! ♥️
I think Bruno is getting cheated, a side by side is not a tractor! You're a great dad Nathan, love your channel.
I sure do enjoy a good tractor ride. Tennesee Disneyland. No waiting.
You and me both!
Find a source for Isopropyl Alcohol. Add about 2 or 3 ounces per gallon of water. That could save you $ 2.00 or more per gallon. Even a 16 ounce bottle from a drug store would only cost about $3.00 and would make 5 to 8 gallons. A truck supply place could probably get 5 gallon or larger containers. Many trucks use it for air line antifreeze.
The farm equipment, not the sawmill. Love this show!
I would think some kind of covered hopper that you can blow the chips into. Something similar to what a tree service used to catch on the business end of a chipper. Something big enough to catch the chips yet small enough to move with a piece of equipment.
Some of those cedar board have some real nice color and grain pattern in them.
agreed
I used to make windshield wash. All it is, is water, rubbing alcohol and dish soap. Very little soap and about 85 to 90% water. If you make a gallon just add a cup of alcohol and about 1/2 table spoon of dish liquid, then top off with water. I used to make 20,000 gallons at a time. in extreme cold add more alcohol or methanol. If the Alcohol is 50 % double the amount. You can same the shorter boards to make ceder chests or bread boxes
that red cedar is very pretty that's the 1ST IVE seen any that color be 4 it just like a 2 tone color that use see 4 marble that sure looks great 4 wood if U could U should safe 2 ✌ peaces 4 your self and keep ever since I was a kid IVE haven't seen red cedar like that it looks just like 2 tone marble 2 me its great and a great color 😊😊OMG 11 1O 2O23
Hello from down under, i think this has been one of my favorite episodes. Ive benn watching your channel for a few years now , ( im a woodwork hobbiest ) , and over time have learned a lot to what goes into turning a log into usable timber , also thankyou for sharing with us all the other things on your farm , its all quite wonderful , Thanks for what you do , keep it up ,, Glenn.
P.S. G'Day to Bruno
Awesome, thank you!
My wife's small dog had a hammock in my recliner between my calves. He loved that soft material and it fit him perfectly. Then I got a new recliner that didn't have that material there and before I could stop him he jumped up to take a nap and fell through and hit the floor. I got the "stink eye" from him and he never got up in my recliner again, even when I picked him up he would just jump down.
Bruno is the Heir Apparent to the empire. 😊
agreed
I would monitor the windshield wash, because some of them may have less Alcohol than others. Just leave a gallon just outside the door and check it every day when it gets in the 20's or less. It may not be a problem, but better safe than sorry. I worked in a Lab more than 30 years and have got off spec stuff from some of the most reputable vendors.
I know it has to be different when you do it for livelihood, but from my side, watching that mill cut through all that lumber is relaxing
🔴 Hi Nathan, Don’t forget that NAPA has their “Second Saturday” of the Month Promotion coming up in several days. They offer 30% off before 9AM; 20% off after 9 AM each month and something on the Sunday. You might want to check with your local store to confirm. Also, AAA has a discount for them, too. Great time to stock up. Good videos and good info always. Kind Regards, Brian (near Omaha)
Howdy Nathan, there are smaller industrial dumpsters that tilt to unload which Mr. Kato could pick up and carry with the pallet forks!
Thought I would throw that out there because You could just park it under the sawdust/chip discharge chute!
You and Yours be safe and well!
Tell Bruno howdy from Southeast Texas!
Nathan , that was a well thought out and well edited shot of you driving your tractor with the go pro attached to your blue tipper trailer - super creative and much appreciated 👌
👍🏴
Appreciate you
Great way to end the day with your son on the tractor. I'll be sure to check out your Channel Bruno. Thanks for the tip! So how many boards did you end up getting out of those two logs Nathan? Order plus complete?
Sometimes that red cedar is just so beautiful once you open it up
Love your videos, RB, Nova Scotia.
Mama Cat wants to be treated as the queen she is.
I started writing down “things to do list” years ago. Retired now and I still write them down. I just don’t do them in order anymore.
I sure do like the shots from what I assume is a drone set up in following mode. I've been noticing those on recent videos.
Thanks. Not a drone either
Secret camera
Empire of one, 🇺🇸🗽🙏💯
Once again Nathan, great advice on having a daily planner to get things done . I have been a self employed woodworker for aver 40 years and my first task every morning is to make a day list. Also, great video as usual.
Nice looking wood
Thanks 👍
Nathan, question: Could you clamp a hose to the vent and let the dust collect into it. Then all you have to do is empty a container of some kind. I was just wondering. Great video. Love watching your videos. Hello to the family, stay safe, and God bless.
I always write down my days goals, and even long term goals.
I know how you built your empire .... One log at a time.🌲
🤣✌💯
Hey, I know where you can get some windshield washer fluid to clean off that windshield. Haha! ;)
Good call!
Your daily planner tip makes perfect sense to me Nathan . Sometimes when your out doing a task you can get so involved that other tasks get put on the back burner and forgotten , so yeah , good tip my friend ✊
👍🏴
Hi, Nathan. If you are going to be scooping up the molder shavings with the T25, into the dump trailer, you should find a way to tow the trailer With the T25, to keep from walking back and forth, to fetch the T25
or the side by side. 😁✌🖖
Firewood can wait until tomorrow, Bruno is more important.
I buy neon color tape measures. They are easier to find
interesting
Writing it down is really good advice.👍🏻
write down the tasks / goals for the day, and then prioritize them high medium or low priority, 🤑
I noticed your mill bed lifting or flexing as you returned the head from the far end back to the home position, over time that could cause cracks in the bed.
I'm sure you've noticed it as well.
I love the look of jumpier, but Im crazy allergic to the dust.
I've got a squirrel in my head too Nathan and goes the speed of light at all times.
I have to own 6 measuring tapes to have one available, same with utility knives.
Maybe a couple of sawmill slats would help with the sag in the canopy.
Good job
Just bought washer fluid at Rural King 2 for $3.
Great video!
That looks a heck of a lot nicer than the flying ant infested cedar I milled up today.
Nathan all work and no play makes for a long day sometimes you just have to take time out once in awhile 😮😊❤
So pretty, that cedar.
I live in Quitman Ga
Petroleum Service company in Pennsylvania will ship 55 gallons of 50/50 -25 Degree certified, washer fluid for $130. Plus freight, did not ask if sales tax applies out of state. Company SKU is WW5055, not very imaginative.
Believe they have their own delivery trucks but do not know if TN is in their service area, weight is 460 lbs.
Thanks for the video Nathan. May GOD bless.
My pleasure!
Splendid video. Nathan, you have my vote for #1 Dad🚙. I could not find Bruno's TH-cam channel link that you were going to post.
Bruno's TH-cam Link: www.youtube.com/@animatronics623
I saw windshield wiper fluid at dollar store the other day, not sure how good it is, would probably freeze, but at 1.25, that's less than half the cost. Maybe worth looking into?
I started making a daily list of what I need to get done when I was working each day My list I would marked in A,B. and C.
A what had to get done C.
B. Try to get done that day
C. The fun or easy things
That evening I would carry forward the list to the next day
I’m retires now still make a daily list of activities or things I want to accomplish
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼
Confirmed
You'll need to add methanol the mix chart is on the bottle. I can source methanol if you need it by the gallon
I just found an old notebook from about 5 years ago where I would write down my lists.
Opened it to a page from 4.5 years ago and saw this,
"Hire someone to do the stuff I keep forgetting"
.... 🤦🤬
when I make to-do lists there so much to do it's depressing, unless there's something critical then it's forget all list , geter done.
hello nathan & it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks nathan friends randy
Morning guys
You must use a lot of windshield washer fluid.
You really spray a lot on the saw blades.
Love your channel bro - keep up the good work. My friend has a mill and I want to make a bunch of boards for a building project. Have you ever purchased trees from a company that delivers? I live in Oklahoma - Could you link a logging company if you've purchased from one or know of good one?
Nathan, first of all I love your videos, absolute love your lifestyle. If you can would you be able to tell me your most common thickness you mill too? I'm guessing 5/4 and 8/4? I have a bunch of white oak and walnut logs to mill up and im just debating on the general thickness to cut them at.
Thanks so much, blessings.
5/4👍👍
@@OutoftheWoods0623 you’d do most of it at 5/4?
@@harrison_daniel_studio 5/4
@@OutoftheWoods0623 thank you so much! Keep doing what you’re doing. Love watching your videos at the end of the work day
Your compost pile is just a sawdust pile unless you put a heap of green stuff in with it - i doubt your chooks could shit enough to supply the nitrogen required while theyre spreading it out!
it has layers of nitrogen my goodness, you always assume you know everything?
The cheapest place ive found for washer fluid is the grocery store...
Great advice!
Thanks Ryan
That cut at you made at 20:09 I would buy it for $s Nathan...It wood (no pun intended) make several beautiful Bowls from it.
Did I miss Bruno's animatronics TH-cam link?
Hello Nathan, nice work🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Why don't you put a large tarp on the ground to catch the wood chips? Then you can just pick up the tarp and wood chips.
I can smell that cedar now.
Hello Nathan, I'm curious. What is it about walnut sawdust or slabs or anthingt walnut related that people don't want it for anything?
