    You are absolutely right.
    This is why I prefer semi finished and then get a interior decorator to complete.
    Will cost more, but at least, you can insist on actual finishing

    Viewing from UK.👊🏽
    You truly highlighted most issues. Builders laziness, work ethics and lack of work to details are major problems in Nigeria.

      HUGE PROBLEMS and it frustrates me. I seem to be the only one complaining too.lol. I feel it is almost accepted as the norm. it has got to be. it is so common . They can definitely tell that i am an outsider. haha

    I love to watch remodels and new construction on the continent so I’ll know what to look for, what to expect, and to be detailed about my requests. I’m always happy to see shower doors,👍🏾 and I love those kind. I’m not crazy about the wardrobes instead of closets, they take up too much room. Couldn’t you take away the whole microwave cabinetry and put the fridge there, it’s going to take up so much room in the kitchen if you don’t. You could put a cabinet or shelf on the wall over the kitchen counter, next to the fridge to hold the microwave. Yes details are very important, I can feel you on that. But great job, keep up the good work!💪🏾

      I thought about it but then we had more obstacles. haha. but i think we just went with the original spacing and it all worked out. We built a custom shelf to enclose the washer and dryer

    Happened to me with the new construction apartment I rented in Ibeju-Lekki. I am American and the construction was not finished properly and the trash piled up at the back of the compound. Needless to say that I did not renew my lease. My Nigerian business partners think I'm too picky. Am currently looking for a new place to rent. I liked the place that was shown on your recent video. It was built by a Diasporian. The attention to detail was impeccable.

      yes unfortunately this is what one has to contend with in naija. and yes his place was great!

    Good job bayo. When you see a new building with some kind of mistakes ,mostly it's due to lack of proper supervison and attention to details . There is what we call a snag list you do after construction.You go round and pinpoint areas to make corrections on then get them fixed up .I do this alot for my clients project I handle.its a norm in the construction industry

    • @thenigeriannomad
      @thenigeriannomad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it shouldnt be a norm for the clients to do this.

    • @archcrete
      @archcrete ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thenigeriannomad no I did not say it's should be a norm for the clients . Clients have no business making corrections that should have been done by the contractor . What I'm saying is that as a contractor or an engineer when you one build a house they are suppose to go round all make everything right before they sell the house to the client

    Enjoying your videos! You will definitely need a carpenter to fix the balcony door, I was watching 7:09 to 7:22 on the video and noticed all of the light leaks at the bottom and right side of the opening. Also it's a wooden door, like an interior door? What about the rains? Wondering if that will hold up to weather?

    • @thenigeriannomad
      @thenigeriannomad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. I already did prior to posting this video and its all fixed now. We willf ind out how the weather affects it

    Exactly on point, I hate it more than anything when workmen don't do a neat and proper job, I believe the acquisition of cheap labour and or unprofessionalism to a great extent contribute to this menace.

    That is Nigeria for you with not too good finishing. Anytime I mentioned it to my family or worker in Nigeria, they seem to thing I am trying to show off. The way they lay wires and pipes are another thing that drives me off the wall.
