I would actually disagree on the range, because particularly when it comes to longer journeys a faster charging speed is far more important than having an extra 25 miles of range. And there the e-tron is capable of charging faster on rapid chargers than most other EVs as it’s capable of taking 150kW or faster speeds. The I-pace is only rated for 100kW, and Bjørn Nyland struggled to get over 84kW in real world tests. That makes a huge difference on a long journey for rapid charging times. So if the ability to do longer journeys is important I would take the e-tron any day, even though otherwise I’d probably prefer the i-pace.

At the same cost I’d have gone for the Jag but it wasn’t even close. Time will tell whether I regret the decision I suppose.
@@wermagst why would anyone use their crossover suv to tow anything? Better yet, why would anyone use their electric vehicle to tow their boat, trailer, etc? Adding towing weight to an electric vehicle means you'll be traveling far less distance and spending more time at charging stations. This is where ICE vehicles have a major advantage.
Nice video but you lost me when you decided Jaguar build quality is better than Audi. Stunning cars to be proud of yes, but quality and reliabilty is not JLR's strong point. I also think people miss the point of the Audi. It's to get people out of ICE cars and into EV, so they made it familiar. Tesla and I-pace are for people who want everyone to know they drive an EV.... Audi range is disappointing but they've thought ahead in that it will take 150kwh charge which will come in the next 18 months.
Audis are so boring, whatever type you go for, styling like a fist and arrogant moron driver image. The fall back choice for anyone with a few quid but no soul
>JLR quality and reliability are not a strong point Sure thing mate. I have seen more broken down German cars than British ones. Jaguars are by far the most reliable in their league.
Some peoples e trons leak. As in water from outside the cabin comes into the cabin. Audi recalled some because water may get into the electrical parts.
Another great video thank you. Any chance of a video on the Nissan EN-V200 panel van and the seven-seater. I want an electric van but want the front passenger airbags not available on the panel van.
They both have serious flaws. For those in the UK the I pace is wider than some of our 6 6 width restrictions, it has a ridiculous nearly 12m turning circle, blind spots, and seems to be designed by petrol heads. The Audi is way too heavy, too short a range, but can have a spare wheel and has superior comfort. I will stick with my e-Niro....until Tesla release Model Y.....
speaking of value, my incoming iPace is going to cost me less per month all things taken in to account than my £40-£50k Discovery Sport by more than £200 pm
iPace back window is too small, side pillars too big and NO rear wiper! iPace might be a second quicker but Audi is bloody quick, more than you ever require when not showing off. Build quality outstrips Jaguar. Most people who buy electric vehicles will not come anywhere near 100,000 miles in 3 years. Getting in and out of the iPace as opposed to the eTron is not easy; it's a very low down car. Audi is higher specked at start level (air suspension standard). Add a few toys to the iPace and you're nearly level with the Audi. Within 12 months Ionity and others' will have a growing network of 350 Kw chargers which will give Audi a charging advantage over the iPace. Although the iPace wins on most categories; as a Family car, the eTron won our vote and our purchase.
@@turkay67turkay you lol'd pointlessly. If there are heavy winds with rain, a lot of the roads will be filled with a muddy mixture of water, dirt/soil and various which will get splashed from incoming traffic as well as from front large vehicles. You are talking about the Audi, part of the huge Volkswagen group. The Etron is the first generation electric Audi it is certainly going to improve with leaps and bounds. The fact that is not far better then is now probably has more to do with fact it can not (at this moment in time) outcompete and outperform every other Audi on the road right now. The Etron is simply there because Audi had to have an electric car in its line up. They produced it but it’s certainly not the best they are capable off. Just wait to see what they can put out the moment the competition is really on. As for the ipace its a great car but Jaguar as a brand is in in the minor league compared to the Volkswagen group.
Saw my first ipace today, it was at an EH charger and wasn't able to charge. I must admit I felt a bit smug charging my leaf successfully, good old chademo! Nice looking car though.
Nice, balanced, matter of fact review, with one omission. Charging speed. Isn't the Audi meant to be a bit of a speedster in that department? Even though the iPace is no slouch? Mind you, out of the two, I would choose the iPace. But that's out of the two, and I'm not likely to buy either.
@Wolfgang Preier Can I ask you something? You may have been a FFV owner in the past. What can you say to FFV owners who doubt they can live with an EV. Because, in my experience, most people don't even give EVs much thought, but just assume that an EV is for someone else, not them.
@Wolfgang Preier Thanks for the detail. That was nice of you to go to that trouble. I guess the key is getting them to drive the EV [preferably a Tesla]. In my experience the difficulty is getting people to that point. I've spoken to people before, but in my experience the vast majority of the public still do not know about fully electric vehicles. They know about hybrids, and often think those are the electric cars. And hybrids, perhaps understandably, disappoint them. Meanwhile, many FFVs still get sold. The message needs to be got across. You're doing your bit, and I spread the word as much as I can.
@Wolfgang Preier I think that when we see the ticket price of similar vehicles matching, then the public who can afford new cars will go electric. And I think the changeover will take place very quickly indeed. It will only be limited by supply, and the major car companies won't be able to hold that back for too long. Meanwhile, Tesla can't produce their cars fast enough. They need to be growing exponentially and innovating. So I'd like to see healthy business numbers this evening [24/07/19] from them. Not profit, but investment. Thankfully, Giga 3 looks as though it will come onstream early. All this helps drive the electric changeover.
There's a clear winner indeed: Any Tesla model. There's simply no comparison, Teslas are on a completely different level; Autopilot, over the air updates, Supercharger network, much better range, faster charging, superior infotainement, 5 stars safety rating in all categories, and all subcategories, on all models and the list goes on. The Jaguar and Audi might win in 2 or 3 categories like fit and finish and perceived "luxury" level, all of which are highly subjective. Tesla wins in the other 42 categories, hands down, most of which are objectively, demonstrably and factually true. Like much faster acceleration, best aerodynamic of any car, best battery energy density, faster interface speed and tactile responsiveness and again, the list goes on and on. Who, in its right mind, would deliberately choose an inferior product, when you can get a Tesla???
The one thing you Fanbois just cannot see to comprehend is that cars have ALWAYS been bought on more emotional factors such as badge loyalty, and simply liking a particular car more than another.... The whole planet isn't going to buy Teslas, because lots of people simply don't want one......
Not many superchargers in the U.K. , I live in Wales we have one ! Most of us would rather a hatchback than a saloon, that knocks out the Model 3 . A Model S or X with more range than the Jag are much more expensive - I think the X long range is £40K more than the Jag.
They are both competing for second place behind anything with a Tesla badge, and I'm not saying that as a Tesla fan, or a Tesla owner. Bottom line is that here in northern Scotland I see Tesla cars on the road every day, and I've seen precisely one iPace and one Etron.
I chose to order an ipace over Tesla for looks and I want to feel like I’m driving a luxury car which I didn’t in the Tesla Ms p100d nor the mx p100d. Simply do not compare on luxury and build quality. Range no issue for me nor is the difference in performance. Andy C I don’t think you include the destination and document fee in the value (£850) - but to be honest I cannot find the “rules” of the 40% tax at the moment.
The premium tax levied on cars that cost more than £40,000 (and which is payable from years two to six) will also rise from £310 to £320 per year. ... The list price should include on-the-road costs such as delivery and numberplates but excludes the first year's road tax and initial registration fee - so it looks like I was wrong - although if Tesla changed the “document and delivery” charge to “document” charge I think we’d be ok 🤣

I would purely choose the E-tron over a tesla because of the luxury (which is wayyyy better than tesla) and drive quality. There is barely any wind noise in the etron while in a tesla its quite loud. I prefer luxury and comfort over acceleration and range lol. I have driven both a tesla model X and a E-tron just to test them and since i prefer comfort and luxury i would go with the etron. Thats just my opinion so dont hate me plz xD

Britain for the win! You conveniently forgot that the etron can charge at 150kW up to 80% SOC, while the ipace can charge just at a lame 100kW up to 40% SOC, before dropping quickly at 50kW at 80% SOC
Almost Irrelevant. Most will charge at home or work on level 2 chargers. The fact that Audi renders so much extra battery unusable to attain that speed is negated by how many extra times you have to stop on a long trip. I will give Audi an extra point for it's onboard charger at 11kw over the ipace 7kw (what was Jaguar thinking, over 13 hours from 0 to full)
@@inkpen1999 12 hours at below 10% is still too long. If you have a 60+ kwh battery pack there is no excuse not to have at the minimum 9.6kw from a 40 amp.

Except if you need to tow anything meaningful. The i-pace's tow rating of 750 kg is rather pitiful for an SUV.
@@wermagst ……. You literally never seen anything other than Kias or Land Rovers towing anything
Would you consider buying a Jaguar considering recent recalls in US due to the fire risk and hugely dropped price on the second hand market?
>JLR quality and reliability are not a strong point
Sure thing mate. I have seen more broken down German cars than British ones. Jaguars are by far the most reliable in their league.
Türkay Were all of those german cars BMWs?
Is this the first time a JLR car has been a Volkswagen car on build quality?!
Saw my first ipace in white t'other day. Absolutely fabulous... want one.

Some peoples e trons leak. As in water from outside the cabin comes into the cabin. Audi recalled some because water may get into the electrical parts.
Pitty the Audi is always going to be boring, where the Jaguar just isn't :) But I never thought it would be THIS obvious! Great video....
Another great video thank you. Any chance of a video on the Nissan EN-V200 panel van and the seven-seater. I want an electric van but want the front passenger airbags not available on the panel van.
Tester is rolling with the Mandarian on the test drive! LOL. You'll never SEE me coming!
Agree with all your points . Seen top of the rage jag ev . Class
speaking of value, my incoming iPace is going to cost me less per month all things taken in to account than my £40-£50k Discovery Sport by more than £200 pm
Did you try the lower height setting on the I-Pace, access height, when you compared accessibility?
Yes but it's the size of the sill that was the issue.
Your brothers a real dude.... do you ever think you could emulate his style?
Which car charges faster? The E-tron. But that is also dependent on the availability of higher speed charging infrastructure.
Sure, but you don't get such a car to swap it out in 6 months...
I mean theres alot of Ionity chargers nowadays, atleast in scandinavia and Germany.
iPace back window is too small, side pillars too big and NO rear wiper! iPace might be a second quicker but Audi is bloody quick, more than you ever require when not showing off.
The Jag's designed to use aerodynamics and trick surface-coating on the glass instead of a rear wiper

Audi is in real pickle. Forced to abandon it's golden goose (due to greed) then chase after someone else's (Tesla) who has had a decade head start.
Its selling batter than model x in Europe so its more like Tesla has to chase them
Great Video, fun and informative! Can I ask am I be stupid or is the link to the sponsor missing?
In the description.
Electric Vehicle Man thanks.
Electric Vehicle Man bought two tickets :-)
Saw my first ipace today, it was at an EH charger and wasn't able to charge. I must admit I felt a bit smug charging my leaf successfully, good old chademo! Nice looking car though.
Nice, balanced, matter of fact review, with one omission. Charging speed. Isn't the Audi meant to be a bit of a speedster in that department? Even though the iPace is no slouch? Mind you, out of the two, I would choose the iPace. But that's out of the two, and I'm not likely to buy either.
@Wolfgang Preier That may be obvious to the EV owner, but to the FFV owner on the point of changing, it's an important metric.
Looks of the Jag with everything else of the E-Tron would be 👌
There's a clear winner indeed: Any Tesla model.
At the prices levels sort of quoted, you're right in that respect. Jaguar and Audi marketeers seem to be in cloud cuckoo-land!
However I do love the Tesla but I do find the attitude of most Tesla owners online laughable. :) completely different to real ones I meet in person.
I’m with the Audi, the Jaguar looks as if it has been extended in the back just to make a bigger boot.
Naaah ! It's different and looks good if specs are correct

Scott Wills Sadly, you do.
