I watch all videos either of you publish, regardless of the title (but you have to play the youtube game with click bait titles). For a novice painter like myself just watching you paint and narrate what goes through your heads when you're painting (colors/light/shade/effect/etc.) has been a huge help to me. Plus your video productions are second to none. Thank you guys!!

Great discussion about clickbait, video topics, and how demotivating it can be to put tons of work into a video that underperforms. I watched a video along the lines of "clickbait is unreasonably effective", and am totally convinced it's a necessity for getting views and growing a channel (also that there's 'good and bad' clickbait).

The stone dice Wyrmwood sells were actually contracted from Level Up dice (i believe they have a new/different supplier now). In either case, that seems like an oversight that these precious stone dice "don't roll well" with their nice wooden boxes/towers.

    IDEA
Putting this here hoping you both will see. I would like see a video from both of you on this topic. You each will bring a distinct eye to this. A medium video would be welcome. A "scientific" look at what they do how they work and most importantly do we actually need them? Do they make any real diffefence ? Unalteted paint or paint with just water added would be the control. Ive dabbeled with various ones like the gel medium or "paint thinners". Honestly Im left scratching my head at the results and thinking just adding water and good technique would look the same. I mentioned paint thinners "Which is better (for brush and air brush) water, airbrush thinner/flow improver/medium, or a combo?" Bottom line are they worth the hobby dollars ? Maybe this could be that first "off week" video. Love what both of you do. You guys are little rays of light in a sea of darkness.

Jon! I also have the Obsidian dice, as well as a Black Walnut dice tray from Wyrmwood. The dice corners chipped the first time i used them. Wyrmwood told me along the lines of “gemstone dice are fragile, they should only be rolled one at a time and without other dice sitting in the tray. Any collisions with each other can cause them to chip, with obsidian being the most fragile as it’s volcanic glass.” Sorry to hear you’re having the same issues!

I bought Bones V and I also 3D print from patreon. The thing I love about Bones or other preprinted minis is usually they are really tough. I can play D&D with my kids and not worry about the minis breaking. Amazing kickstarters or 3D printing my own are great to look at but they can break so easy :/ And Yes most of my Bones are not painted and BonesV I bought EVERY addon plus a couple duplicates, I didnt figure out how much I spent is was just an F...ton.

I didn't see anyone cover this in the other top comments, but full-color printing is possible. Instead of a filament printer or an MSLA, they essentially use a fancy paper printer head, one that has lots of different colors in it, and apply the 'die' to powder super selectively. This die is also a hardening agent to the powder. Then it adds another layer of powder and then another layer of die, layer after layer until it's done. Unused powder can be recycled and used again for a different print. And like an MSLA it kinda takes the same amount of time for 1 mini vs 30.
The prints don't really need support because the additional unhardened powder supports the parts.
Still, loads of simplification but you get the gist I think.

    4) While I love your guy's show/podcast, I fear that if it is weekly you guys may burn yourselves out. But I am a fan of the moto "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Good news- I have acquired something like 120+ bottles of Reaper paint in the process... to go along with 50 Army Painter Paints, 60ish Citadel paints and another couple dozen Vallejo paints. I apparently have a Kickstarter and Paint addiction.... but at least I didn't back the Duncan Rhodes campaign.

As a D&D GM, I paint everything I buy. My back catalogue is about 20 minis that aren't started and 5 in progress. I won't use unpainted minis in my games, where as when I was playing wargames I would burn out on army painting painting and wouldn't ever have a fully painted army. I don't have time or space to have a 3D printer, and so will kitbash minis if I want something different. I was hoping that Osprey would have done something like KS for their Frostgrave minis, as these are really great to use for this.
The busts and larger scale minis I buy are where I really get to paint to my fullest, and stretch my skills. I've just backed 3 different KS campaigns in the last 2 months for some great looking busts.
With the comics point, Image have been doing some stuff recently with the fancy collected editions of Witchblade and The Darkness. There have been some Lady Death stuff going out as well. These are not from small companies.

Boom comics runs kickstarters for things like collectors editions, and some more stuff like that which may have a nice target audience and wouldn't do well at retail. Hasbro and Mattel do the same thing, they kickstart big projects that they couldn't sell at retail. Outside of Boom, its mostly indie creators getting up and going

I had take out Cane's in Styrofoam for my first experience. Sauce A+, Chicken B. I guess I did it wrong.
On Twitch, D&D players who don't paint minis still enjoy watching painters for the interaction and community. Most people who paint wargaming stream under Warhammer and tend to stick in that category. The d&d painters tend to stream under Art. There is a disconnect in visibly but the community does overlap. The issue is some gear their stuff towards one audience instead of including both.
Also, I'm kind of curious about a Nurgle candle.

Bones 5 really upped the sculpt quality in my opinion, I'm not sure how much I will back in the future now that I have a 3d printer though.

The one thing I disagree with is that D&D needs mini's. It really doesn't; we used tokens for characters and bigger items for anything beyond human sized. Did it that way for years pretty much; and this comes from someone who loves to do a lot of painting.
