    *Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

Am quickly finding out i made a good choice, with going bigger on the reel to help with patience & frustrations of being new to the style. Definitely liked, subscribe & hit the all bell. Thank you again. 🎣 🎣

    Just purchased it. This is the first expensive bait caster I’ve actually invested into. I always use cheap stuff because I barely used them as I’m inexperienced with them. After watching your video I figured it’s about time I invest into one and try it out.

    I assume you leave the brake at factory setting as these reels are not made to change brake settings. Only time you adjust brake is if the spool is shifting left or right and has gotten off the factory setting. Having said that, what settings beween 1 and 4 on the left side of the reel do you use for both pitching and flipping?

      @@casiokids91 So far in my limited experience with Daiwas it's been the opposite. The Lexa was my first Daiwa about three years ago and sold that one, it kept engaging on the cast. I also have a Zillion TWS 100 XSL, it engages on the cast occasionally but nothing like that Lexa, casts great and was very smooth but now grinds after a little 3 lb. peacock. I've never had a Shimano problem but did the brass gear upgrade in two of three Metanium HGLs after the Zillion started crunching, just in case. Two Curado Ks and a DC, so far I love them. The TranX 200 for throwing big prop baits is awesome, much better than I'd expected after the big 400 which you feel after a bunch of casts. The Abu MGXtreme is my lightest reel and weighed 4.5 oz out of the box but it's so light that it feels like a toy. With a naked BFS rod sitting here that Steez sounds good, may have to give it a go. The BG spinners are great and dirt cheap with more line capacity than the Stradics, good throwdown reels for travel and save the Stradics for home.

    Set mine up with 20lb Fluor, BIG mistake blew up the reel on all settings. Switched down to 14lb and it operates a lot better. Still doesn’t work with your thumb completely off. I may have a bad reel but with a 1/4 plastic it’s problematic. Definitely better with heavier baits. Over all I was disappointed for the price point. Definitely works if you’re thumbing it.

    I have a Metanium DC and it is a monster when it comes to casting; and I would recommend the scorpion dc over the curado dc.
    This is due to the scorpion having the same brakes as the metanium, which is more high end then the curado dc.

      Youre still going to backlash i have the reel and played with it for a while nonstop. On the cast it pretty much helps you thumb is all. but its not backlash proof. If you dont feel like picking out backlashes of birdsnest just set brakes to max and tnsion nob to the point where the lure doesnt fall. I set it up that way for my neice because shes learning how to use a baitcaater.

  • @richardj6593
    @richardj6593 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am amazed that people don't understand you never need to adjust the brake on a Curado DC reel. In fact, it will mess your reel up by changing the factory setting. If you do a You tube search for tackle warehouse and Curado DC overview, the Shimano rep will make this very clear. You also still need to lightly thumb the DC reel when casting.

    I can trow 5 grams easy with the Curado K too and better because the spool is much lighter the the DC.
    Luv this Curado K it make some centr break noise in the cast
    but the DC makes that sound explod and some of us like that.
    Then the part weight and money and internally its the same reel.
    So less money, same great reel, lighter spool and reel, no bad promises
    like casting into a wall or else with no backlashing.
    If i got no thumb I buy maybe one, otherwise be smart keep the extra money for some good rod.

      Chuck Barnett when casting normally you don’t really have to thumb it. When you throw it directly into the wall you do get a bit of backlash.. but nothing like you would on a traditional reel

      you can use this in saltwater , i went out plenty of times and just wipe it down with a wet rag and you're good to go.

    What I want to know is how long until the dc stops working? Then how the hell do you fix it lol

    • @jimvalim1567
      @jimvalim1567 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It creates its own power. It works like a generator. It has magnets that spin along side coils. A current is created when the spool spins. So it doesn't use batteries. It really is a technological wonder.

    • @doinitoutdoors184
      @doinitoutdoors184 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So do you think it would just go on working for a lifetime or is there any way it could break down? I'm so close to buying one

      It's mechanical, it needs maintenance. Just like all the fishing reels available out there for sale, it takes a bunch of parts to make a reel. The manufacturer ships a schematic with named or numbered parts with the reel. If something breaks, you just order the parts. I do know that the older a reel gets that the parts start costing more. This is because eventually they stop Mass producing the reels and parts become more difficult to get. I have some old Abu Garcia ambassador reels that I have repaired and every time I order parts for them the price keeps getting higher. So to answer your question... Yes the reels can last a lifetime, if you maintain them and the parts are available. Fortunately fishing reels are not to difficult to work on.

      Yea I know it's really just the dc chip i was wondering about longevity of. I guess they probably would sell that seperarely as a replacement part as well though probably

  • @RCblake07

    So what happens if the chip dies?

    • @BottomlandOutdoors
      @BottomlandOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RCblake07 it uses the rotation of the spool for power. No batteries or anything like that

    The DC is use for throwing light lures and against wind with reduce backlashes. "Reduce". It does not mean completely eliminate backlash. I think people misunderstood the wording of it. Overall when it comes down to skipping the DC > SV

    Lets put ot this way. I have the reel used it nonstop since i got it last month. I have my tension set to how the company wants you to. Doing it this way all it does is help you thumb on the cast but you still need to stop the lire befor it hits the water.

    Im a firm believer that expensive fishing gear does not make u a better fisher man and does not catch fishes for u. With that being said. Those dc model is sick. I might have to get one nust for that whine.
