*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*
Best review I’ve seen for this reel. And this reel is perfect for saltwater bought it when it came out and the drag has held up against countless reds and trout and my Curado still runs like a champ
This guy is spot on, the Curado K has 2 bearings on the spool, 2 on the pinion, 2 on the main shaft, and 1 roller bearing. The 13 Zero doesn't really compare to the Curado or Tatula series overall, at least so far from what I can tell. Most of the non Japanese companies like Lew's, Abu, and the KastKing/Favorite reels put AT LEAST 4 bearings in the handle knobs alone and sometimes add 1-2 more to the levelwind to higher their "count". I would take bearings in the aforementioned key locations any day, and you can gladly add handle bearings or levelwind bearings to most Shimano/Daiwa reels if you truly desire. 4x7x2.5mm I think the size is...
The handle knobs spin fine with the stock bushings. I used the K spooled with 50# PP Maxcuatro for six twelve hour days last month on peacocks up to 16, lots of 6 to 10s and it worked great. Picked up another 201 XGK on eBay for 149.99 shipped and spooling that one with 65 Max, hard to beat the bang for the buck. The lower speed righties can be had for even less. These are great for travel, you can leave the expensive reels home and not feel like you're missing anything.
That Fishing Guy I'm stating that the 13 Z is overrated. It is a great concept for saltwater and a good idea. Just I hear people comparing it to Tatula SV's and Curado K's, that is the problem. Putting bushings in a reel doesn't put it anywhere close to the engineering Shimano or Daiwa have invested in reels. Hell Okuma makes 13 Fishing anyways, once again I'm not hating, just telling what I experienced. People were claiming it would cast lighter lures than Zillion SV reels, I would take a new Revo STX over the Zero.
I heard the z is under performing the hype that was brought on. I just bought the diawa tatula sv for this coming up fishing season, I’d like to see how it preforms against that k
13 is not the only competitor, Lews has similar priced reels with 11 bearings (vs. 6) and 14lbs of drag (vs. 11) and around 5.5oz (vs. heavy curado)....
So far i don't have any problem with K , but i actually want to know what is the perfect braid diameter fit into K spool? I tried 15lb 0.12mm, doesn't seem it really fit with K. What your thought?
Hi would like to know is this reel saltwater water approved... and it's max drag is 5 kg... So is it possible to use this for species like barramundi or groupers above 5 kg.
Probably is saltwater approved. But then if you to spend this much money you should've gotten the Shimano Tranx 300 or 400. Cost around the same price but is made specifically for saltwater fishing.
Lots of great insight. Just started watching but it would be great to see on the water comparisons too. Another thing is the casting, I know long cast is important and can show the quality and ability of a reel' s long cast, but how do they do skipping, flipping, side armed and against the wind? Just thoughts on that as I'm in the market and the curado is top of my list, but I have a lot of research before I make my decision. Keep up the good channel!
All 3 of my Curado K reels are real rough now a year and a half later, I am pretty disappointed, I have been a Shimano guy most of my life, I tried a few different brands recently and found the Daiwa Tatula and the ABU REVO reels remain smooth after one year, sorry Shimano you need to take the Curado K back to the drawing board.
Best reel for less money can buy, really no nonsens. Seen and have a lot reels also have Abu Revo's this is 8 plus machine good breaking system smooth power
The curado was out casting and out performing the 13z at icast everyone just kept it quiet lol the z is nowhere near the same level as this. Check out the tackle advisor
Yep you can fit a 190 yards Power Pro regular 30-lb braid so it's awesome real I bass fishing saltwater fish with this real and I have not had a problem with it #Shimano #still design and build their own reels #japanese-made
Anything over the six bearings and theyre only added to the knobs to replace the bushes, and some even run them on the level wind worm gear. So the main thing is that those 6 bearings are good quality, and these seem great. I love my two k's. I haven't used my Abu's since lol
I regularly tear my reels down, clean, lube, and flush the spool bearings. Shimano's bearings spin for a much longer time after flushing than any other brand that I have had. Quality bearings for sure. No need for bearing upgrade on Shimano if you flush them out.
i just bought a Concept A, it was noisy. swapped it with a concept z. broke after 3 cast. my buddy hooked up to a striper lastnight with a Concept E and the gears stripped. Im going with what i know that works, K. dont think I'll buy a 13F reel again... i tried to give them a try, twice. both fail.
You know sometimes you guys are full of it I've got 2 cuardos ,concept a,concept z and the texas edition and I haven't had any problems from any of them my A3 pulled in a 37inch red limited out 3 times on flounder one being 24inches on the z and runs smooth you gotta actually buy the real
I'm sorry but I like the weight. Anything below this just feels kind of cheap. I'm not saying heft is good but I feel like this is the perfect weight. And I can't say enough good things about just how much the hagane body makes a difference with how this reel comes together.
I am a bigger guy. I've never met anyone with bigger hands than me, I'm 6'3 ²⁴⁵lbs so I definitely take that into consideration. I'm all for getting lighter gear but I'm absolutely against it if it is at the cost of performance and durability of said reel.
I've been blessed to have four 7.4 K reels and two 8.5 K's and they're the best reel I've ever used. Bought my first Curado in the late 80's and haven't looked at anything else. Highly reliable and worth every bit of the price!
Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.

That’s nice to hear. I just bought mine and I fish saltwater
Please give us a almost 1 year update pros vs cons any reel noice like the curado i or handle slippage not catching when reeling
Mine still works great, just service it yourself
@@masonwong7194 howdy. How has your curado 200k held up over these years
Just picked up my curado k 201 yesterday, already falling in love with it haha
Our preferences must be the same, because every time I get a scratch on my reels I can't stand it.
What is the difference between the Curado HG model and the Curado K
This guy is spot on, the Curado K has 2 bearings on the spool, 2 on the pinion, 2 on the main shaft, and 1 roller bearing. The 13 Zero doesn't really compare to the Curado or Tatula series overall, at least so far from what I can tell.

Daniel Dean Are you saying the 13 z is overhype? I do. I don't think it even comes close.

well he doesn't know how the brakes work he said that the brake shoes contact the spool but the contact a metal ring on the inside of the sidplate
All those reels also are made by the same freaking company. So everyone buying those abu,lews,basspro,13 are essentially getting the same reel
Quality review. I have 11 of these reels and real pleased so far.
Jeez, are you a guide or something?
Just bought this reel mainly for snook fishing, video was very helpful
Shimano they rock except the G series
Never had an issue with the G series...
Great review bro. Lost a metanium last week. Goin with the K
I'm getting two more. These reels kick ass
Appreciate your review man. How would you compare / rate the curado k to the lews tournament mp? Been wanting to check Shimano out
Large line capacity is good if you are a snag master like myself and you are loosing line a lot
what is line capacity of the reel
Good video... I own the Concept Z but this helped me decide that I will have 2 Z's and 2 Curado's.👍
Curious to know your thoughts on this reel and your experience with it over time () I just bought one Guess ill live and learn either way!✌️
Does the line go under that bar or not?
I heard the z is under performing the hype that was brought on. I just bought the diawa tatula sv for this coming up fishing season, I’d like to see how it preforms against that k
hello, if this reel can work with 130mm minow type lures ? for tviching?
Dose the cap on the side fall easy ? I would hate to buy it and it fall when I'm fishing..
What rod would you put this on for redfish and trout?
hello I speak from costa rica that shimano cured k serves better for salt water and what type of line is better and size 200 0 300
13 is not the only competitor, Lews has similar priced reels with 11 bearings (vs. 6) and 14lbs of drag (vs. 11) and around 5.5oz (vs. heavy curado)....

I use 60lb power pro braid. 12lb diameter. Works great
Curado K or SLX DC? I can get them for the same price
the cast is a little loud and there is a little bit of play in the handle. but it is a great reel..
Hi would like to know is this reel saltwater water approved... and it's max drag is 5 kg... So is it possible to use this for species like barramundi or groupers above 5 kg.

What rod was on the thumbnail?
What type of fishing line do you use?
What would be a good rod to pair with the curado?
BH Bassin Shimano zodias new 2018 versions, that’s what’ll I’ll be pairing mine with
Is that a triad duckett rod? How do you like it?
Can you get smaller spools for the k ?
What brand of line is that?
Lots of great insight. Just started watching but it would be great to see on the water comparisons too. Keep up the good channel!
My drive shaft seems like it had a lot of play to it can someone give me some advise?
Hey great video, is this the same reel as the curado 201 K?
David Vos yes i the 200k and 201k are the same reels 200 right hand Retrieve and 201 left hand
You what was the beat you played for the reel intro
The Curado k, or the Lew's Tournament Pro LFS?
Colton Cramer curado k
All 3 of my Curado K reels are real rough now a year and a half later, I am pretty disappointed, I have been a Shimano guy most of my life, I tried a few different brands recently and found the Daiwa Tatula and the ABU REVO reels remain smooth after one year, sorry Shimano you need to take the Curado K back to the drawing board.
Have you broke it open and cleaned it ?
Best reel for less money can buy, really no nonsens.
Seen and have a lot reels also have Abu Revo's this
is 8 plus machine good breaking system smooth power
So which reel is better at that price point. The k or the z?
haven't tested the Z personally.. so id be lying if i answered, sorry. :(
Heard the Z is garbage. Look at the tear down videos. The K is incredible. So refined and smooth.
Johnny Jiang awesome thanks!
The curado was out casting and out performing the 13z at icast everyone just kept it quiet lol the z is nowhere near the same level as this. Check out the tackle advisor
Johnny Bones thanks for the awesome feedback. Glad to know!
I feel like it is worth all of the hype. Yes sir.
The best reel i've ever
love my curado dc 151!!!
Yep you can fit a 190 yards Power Pro regular 30-lb braid so it's awesome real I bass fishing saltwater fish with this real and I have not had a problem with it #Shimano #still design and build their own reels #japanese-made
Will power pro 50lb fit and come off nicely?
Megan Cooper yes! I still am using 50 on it now.
Bottomland Outdoors is the reel plastic?
Anything over the six bearings and theyre only added to the knobs to replace the bushes, and some even run them on the level wind worm gear. So the main thing is that those 6 bearings are good quality, and these seem great. I love my two k's. I haven't used my Abu's since lol

john doe strange, I’ve got 2 13 reels and I love em
john doe. The concept z was trash. Feels like kids toy
I've had a concept A for almost 2 years, landed over a hundred fish with no problems. Take care of your gear and it takes care of you
You know sometimes you guys are full of it I've got 2 cuardos ,concept a,concept z and the texas edition and I haven't had any problems from any of them my A3 pulled in a 37inch red limited out 3 times on flounder one being 24inches on the z and runs smooth you gotta actually buy the real

Great vid 👍🏻
13 is garbage and yes I have a boat full that I'm switching over to shimano
Cheaper to make than the E series. I will keep the E series no more of the Malaysian Shimanos for me.
