This review was spot on. The Curado DC is the best reel for the money I've ever owned. On a 7'6" Medium rod, with 10 lb mono, it will cast a Skitterwalk so far all I can see is the wake. It's NOT foolproof, but you can go all day with one or two over runs. Great vid sir.
Great video. I have both models and some JDM 17 Scorpion DC's with I-DC5. Curado DC is a superior reel over SLX. But I got spoiled with the scorpions. Reel not for everyone. Spool is a little shallow, man it cast like a dream with I-DC5 brake. I have the BFS paired with a Dobyns Sierra series. Love that combo. Almost eliminated my spin reel altogether.
I’d love to try that idc5 and compare it, it certainly seems like a great opportunity to improve upon the 4. I want to try the BFS and I don’t want to try the BFS. I’m scared it’ll make me want to replace all of my spinning reels! $$$
I've watched a few of your videos so far and you seem to be putting out stuff I'm interested in and I'm sure other people will be too. I hope you keep at this so hopefully you can grow and reach a wider audience. As for this video I work for a sporting goods vendor so I get a % off of MSRP for fishing reels so I personally bought the Curado DC and absolutely love it. I haven't gotten a SLX DC yet but feeling both of the reels I think that price is the only limiting factors with these reels. If you can afford the Curado DC then definitely go for it. I also bought the Curado MGL for a weightless fluke setup and it casts like butter and can launch those smaller baits no problem. Keep up the good work!
The important distinction is not *that* the gears have double bearing support in the Curado, but *why* they have it. The MicroModule gears are super sensitive to gear mesh. The double bearing are required to keep the mesh perfect and keep the gear from stripping out under load. The SLX simply doesn’t need the extra bearings because it has stronger gears with bigger teeth. In theory, the MM gears are more efficient. In practice, at the RPMs fishing reels operate, there is no advantage and you make a more fragile gear train going with the finer toothed gears. Are they the same? Technically, no, they’re not. That’s not the right question to ask. Do the differences make a difference in how they fish? Because, in my experience that answer is also “no”, it simply isn’t worth the extra money for the Curado.
great video lover your bearing explanations. now just some fyi info for you. a new jdm slx dc xt is coming out in a month or 2. it has the new version of the id5 brakes, and micro gears. its actually built with the older curado I frame (also the same as jdm version of curado the scorpion dc 2017 version). the current curado is a k frame and new 2021 scorpion dc also another fyi for you, is there are two version of the idc5 brakes. the older version has an "A" for automatic mode, the new idc5 has a "W" instead of A for wind mode. the new 2021 scorpion dc and the new slx dc xt has the new version idc5 brakes. with how old the curado dc is now, I'm expecting a newer version to come out with idc5 brakes soon, to make more of a difference between slx and curado
@@goodmanfishing slx xt dc jdm only as far as i know so have to buy from japan but its only like 30 bucks difference then the new 2021 scorpion dc from japan as well
Sure did. I’m in between if I should get one of the other. I’m leaning against the curado. For smaller fish wich model would you choose? 71 100 150 or 200.

Great review and side-by-side comparison.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve not yet tried a Curado MGL, but I’d sure like to give it a shot. 👍
Brilliant information 👍
I just bought both and this video helped me look like I know what I'm talking about 😂
Great to hear!

I got a jdm dc reel with IDC 5 ordered from japan. SLX DC XT.
Should one get a Bantam instead?
Hi mate, great review on the two Shimano DCs. Now I know which one I am upgrading too….being the Carodo DC. Cheers🍻 from Australia 🇦🇺
I just got both
en mi gusta los 2 son muy buenos casting pero si me pucieran ah escoger yo pediría el curado mano izquierda
great review man
Thank you! 🎣
Damn fine video sir! I have subscribed and signed up for notifications. Thank you!
Thank you!
Now the slx dc is $200 and the curado dc is $280 lok
For real I keep seeing everyone say 250$ I’m like where! Lol I just bought mine for 290.00 with tax 😢
@Spyglassdetailco no idea, been 9 months since I said that, priced could've raised again
Which do you like better? I am trying to hear from other people which they prefer etc.
I honestly prefer my regular Curado and SLX reels. This generation DCs are neat, but they aren't all that consistent for me
nice video I was wondering which one I should buy I don't care about but I'd like to save a buck what's your opinion
I tend to prefer to pickup the Curado DC more so than the SLX. They’re pretty similar but the Curado feels a bit better in my hand, subjectively
The big C is a better reel I like the new fram on the curado M 200 and the scorpion 200 md
The spool is smaller on the SLX, right?
Same spool size, both are 150 sized spools. 👍
Thank you
Great rewiev, thanks
Hope it helped!
Sure did.

71 100 150 or 200.
Great video!
Thanks, Andrew!
Nice review
Not allot of difference in the 2
I enjoyed the video but the intro isn't good i thing a logo with a fish and a good animation could be better
Wow my 40$ bait caster has more drag and better casting and holds more line LMFAO
Your 40$ reel does not have "better casting"
