This is the best channel which explains everything well and detailed. Was getting stressed out on which curado to pick as idk which curado can cast 5g lures. Ty for really putting in time into this video
Own them all now, I find myself using the dc more than most. Gets windy on the lake and some future cussing from a bird’s nest get me to grab the extra insurance. Honestly they are all well made, MGL is just impressive, go with your budget, you won’t be disappointed

I own the K and new 70 mgl. I prefer my ‘16 Curado 70’s above both for most applications. Phenomenal little reels
I’ve got the scorpion dc so I picked up the mgl 150 during the Black Friday sale. Haven’t had a chance to fish it yet but it does feel buttery smooth.

I have up on curados when they stole the 50E and went to the G but did try the k and dc last year.. great reels but just feel heavier and bigger than they are... I've yet to put my hands on the 70 size.. really thinking about getting the bfs or even the scorpion bfs just so I can see if it's for me.. the Aldebaran is hard to beat but sometimes a little heavier beefier reel just fits better
I have a Curado BFS paired with a 6'8 Zodias BFS rod. Hands down the funnest setup I have. Slings 1/10 oz ned rigs like a rocket. Nailed a 3 pounder on it and nearly shit my pants. Lol

Great video! I own 2 DCs and recently needed a 3rd. Bass pro didn’t have them in stock and the guy at the counter showed me the new MGL. I’ve been casting them both every day for about a month. I’ve casted 1/8th oz jigs to medium sized swim baits. Here is what I would pick after the time spent. The Curado DC. As a matter of fact I would choose it over anything short of anything anyone offers under 350 bucks. If I had unlimited funds it would be the Antares DC. I have bought and sold all kinds of Diawa, Lews, etc. the DC technology is superior to anything I’ve casted. The Curado MGL comes in second.
Hi Rob, just wonder if curado dc is good for casting 1/8 oz lures or minnows. I heard many fishing guys said curado dc is for big lures. I am planning to do some finesse bass fishing. My lures is around 1/8 oz to 1/2 oz. Is curado dc comfortable to use when casting light lures?

Absolutely the best reels made at this price point … Buttery Smooth like the highest end Shimano’s .. I use them for all kinds of fish from Bass to big Stripers to big River Salmon … rarely backlash the basic Curado Ks … I own 4 of them .. also run an SLX Dc once it a while that’s not to bad … like to upgrade the bearings but being a digital it’s not looking like it can be done .. hate the whine it makes when casted but it’s pretty cool … don’t backlash much anyways with any reels cus I’m good 😅😊… Just kidding cus don’t care how good you are … it happens to the best ..
i own a couple of the original K, and the 150. Love the 150 more cause of less weight both just solid quality and great casters. Still even have a couple work horse I's also. Though the Alde mgl and Met 2020 still have me spoiled.

Not the same launching time I guess. We are here having Curado K201 (LH) or K200 (RH) in 2016. In 2017, Curado 70/71 (no MGL) coming to the market which is missing on your list. Then 150DC in 2018, etc as shown on your list. Cheers..
the curado bfs is the only one i would own... and do! once you go bfs you never want to go back to spinning rods or fly fishing, at least for me and i love fly fishing
Nice! What rod did you slap on your BFS? The 6'8 L Zodias BFS is a very sensitive rod.
They all look like Robocop’s helmet.
But I love Shimano, that’s all I have on all my rods. I typically fish St. Croix rods but lately been playing around with some Dobyns.

Ya been waiting for my 150mgl for almost 4 months now
I was by lake michigan bombing a +1 jerkbait yesterday in 40 mph winds yesterday on that 150 mgl, with very little trouble. It was pretty ridiculous.
How would you compare the skipping on the 150 mgl to the 2020 tatula sv tw? Also, differences between the 150 mgl and 2020 tatula for palming?

Since the Curado dc and Mgl are both 150 size cant you just put the mgl spool inside the dc and call it a day. That would make the Curado DC a better caster than the metanium mgl.
I have 7 Calcutta 150’s used them for years. Thinking about changing out my gear to the MGL 150! I only use Berkeley Lightning rod 7’ one piece. Think this made my decision! Thanks
Try the DC first. After casting both every day for 30 days for me the DC outcasts the MGL with any weight. It’s about a 10-15’ difference. It’s still a great reel, the DC Curado still is the winner any day. Worth the 60 extra bucks for sure.

I’ve got the Curado 70 mgl and never adjust the internal brakes, in part because I am relatively new to baitcasters and am a bit afraid to make dialing in the reel more complicated than it needs to be. I’m not back lashing very often so it seems to be working fine. And my casting distance is pretty good-with heavier lures; as you noted, I’m getting close to the backing. But I just started pitching and am definitely a beginner with that technique. I’m definitely backlashing a bit more with this technique, but I suspect it’s because my leader is too long and the knot may be screwing things up. Sooo…what are the benefits of playing with the internal brakes on this particular reel? Thanks!!!
When your pitching or skipping avoiding backlashes comes down to skill, other than that you can just crank the internal breaks but mastering thumbing the spool is the name of the game! Just keep practicing. A leader knot should not go into your spool. That’s what I believe at least to avoid it hitting the guide coming out of the reel.

For me it’s easy. DC wins every time. I’ve casted both every day for 30 days with every type of bait. The Curado DC is the best reel ever made under 400 bucks in my opinion.

What is the deal with the 150/151 and 200/201 terminology. The line capacity is just approximate so why would they specify a 1 yard capacity difference?
The one number higher just means it is left hand retrieve.
Great video! I have the 70MGL. I use the reel as my primary jerkbait reel. Great performance, but I have had an occasional problem with my left hand (palming hand) engaging the free spool during a hook set. I palm the reel and have large hands. Would the 150 MGL solve this? Is the side plate any taller on the 150? Thanks for your great reports!
Pretty sure they're the same size, just different size spool. Not certain though.
