    I truly appreciate everyone who has supported my mission. I love you all thank you!
    I have found that everyone suffers with addiction in different ways, we just suffer from a drug one. I journeyed my detox/ withdrawal off heroin from day 5 all the way to the present. I have journaled many experiences and have shown many of my stories on my channel. During this process I have learned much and continue to learn. I have found that we addicts need new people, places and things for sure!
    People Overdosing and dying from addiction is real! I detoxed off heroin and know what its like to be stuck and not be able to stop using drugs. Intervention is sometimes necessary because I know the mind of an addict first hand. The way these drugs feel consumes the addict and they cannot think of stopping and follow through without proper help from others.
    Addiction can be overcome. Cocaine, alcohol, benzos, adderal, ecstacy, opioids, heroin, steroids & mushrooms are just some of the drugs that I have tried. I wasn't addicted to all of those listed but I have experimented with these. The war on drugs is stupid and the stigma on drug addicts needs to change in order to help the drug addiction issues within America.

    Methadone saved my life. I was a serious heroin addict. I started out on pain meds and it progressed to heroin. I found out I was pregnant and the day I found out I went straight to a detox place but they wouldn't take me bc I was pregnant and told me I had to go on methadone bc it was the safest way to detox while pregnant. So I started on methadone and my daughter was born healthy. I had planned on going back to heroin after she was born but that all changed bc the methadone helped. I had my life back. I took some meds in the morning and the rest of the day I felt normal. Once you get ready and you wean off the right way very slowly ... you can come out on the other side. I'm 7 years clean and sober now!! It can work.

      Brittany Miller you’re clean from the methadone too?? I just started the clinic I’m on 50mg of methadone I don’t wanna dose higher because I’m scared I won’t be able too taper off the methadone I don’t want it too take years

    • @brittanymiller3396
      @brittanymiller3396 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@wadehubbard5733 yes. You need to go to the dose that you feel normal. Meaning no withdrawal symptoms. But you dont want to start feeling sleepy after you take it that means you are too high up on the dose. I had to go up bc I was pregnant. When I started tapering I was at 100 mgs. I did it really slow over 2 years and I mean slow slow. I was fine. So do what you need to right now and just know if you go at snails pace to come off it doesnt matter what dose you are at. Sometimes it's also a mind thing so you can ask to blind dose. But good luck it saved my life.

    I was addicted to opiates for 3 years and could never quit than I discovered suboxone. I took suboxone for 6 years and than I started a slow taper. For me personally suboxone was easy to come off of because I was ready and I’m so grateful to finally wake up in the mornings without being in withdrawal. I think suboxone is a wonderful medication, and the time frame of which you’re on it is entirely based on where your heads at and your cravings but once you’re sick of taking it don’t be afraid of withdrawal because if you taper correctly you should be okay, everyone is different though and will have different experiences, that’s just mine. Remember you have the strength, you don’t have to be imprisoned by a drug. I think sobriety feels pretty damn good.

      I could use some of your positivity. I was on two 8mg subs a day for years. I messed around and relapsed and started taking what I thought was 30mg oxy but was actually straight fentanyl...Did those for about 2weeks and tried to stop and start taking my subs again and oh he'll no!! Sent me straight into precipitated withdrawal... I have never experienced anything so awful ...So then I went down and got on methadone....So now I'm on 90 mgs a day plus taking up to seven 30mg oxy with fentanyl but I am headed to detox this week to stop, cold turkey, no taper, long enough to transition to subs....I am terrified....Can it be done? This fentanyl is a whole different ball game..

    • @audrina8881
      @audrina8881 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Candice Harper It can be done, find the strength within. You will experience some withdrawal transitioning to suboxone as you know but let that be that last withdrawal from fentanyl. Let that be the last time you ever go through that again. Stay on suboxone for as long as you need to, get away from anyone you used to buy from or use with. Or anyone who's not supportive of your recovery. Change your number and delete certain people from social media. Find a healthy support system and set goals, start living for adventure not highs. If you're a believer begin a relationship with God. Read his word, it'll guide your soul. Stay consistent with positive change and watch your life change. Someday you'll look back and be so grateful that you're no longer living in hell. Being an addict is a tough life, it's exhausting. Life is waiting for you. Work your program and don't give up. The only thing fentanyl will offer you is death or an institution. Recovery will offer you life and freedom. I wish you the best of luck friend ♡

    I’m in recovery, myself, and I work at a women’s drug/alcohol treatment center. I’m all for medication assisted recovery. I’ve seen how it keeps my girls sober. It doesn’t get them high but it fills those receptors so they don’t want to go find that high. I’m a recovering opiate addict but Subutex, Suboxone, and Methadone weren’t available in my area when I got sober. I’m living proof that someone can get and stay sober without meds but there is definitely a place in recovery for these lifesaving medications. Thanks so much, Derek, for your videos. I watch them at home and also with my girls when I’m at work. You’re making a real difference in the world.

    For me, this has been ABSOLUTE HELL!!!!! I'm honestly caught off guard. I knew I'd be pretty sick for a good number of days, but I wasn't expecting it to be this bad for this long!!
    I'm 42, I have 3 kids and 2 grandkids. My youngest son was burned pretty bad at age 12. My oldest has been in trouble since about 12, he's now 24, and is on his almost third year of a 10-20 year prison sentence.
    Having said that, coming off these subs has been the hardest thing ive ever done.
    The physical hell is, I'm praying, pretty much gone. It's in my head now and I have never felt such a profound sadness.
    I will NEVER take anything that causes withdraw again!!!
    I need to be there for my kids and grandkids, my son in prison especially, cause im the only one he has, and his two kids.
    Even tho this is extremely hard, I feel proud of myself, and that's a feeling I haven't had in idk how long!!

    Hey Derek. I agree totally with you on the “having your mindset” in check before u do suboxone. I had a doc that wrote me an rx and he wanted to keep me on it for a long time. Anyway, ended up abusing it, taking several doses to get high. That’s why I think it’s just better to go cold turkey and work through the good and the bad. Easier said than done. And hey, subs get you cleanER but not clean. Did u/do u ever attend iop/outpatient, inpatient? I did the iop route but kept using the kratom and didn’t really take it that seriously. Kratom lead me to more pills (never done H) and so I’m gonna face the man and go back to same iop bc it’s free this time. Kicking myself!

    I was over-weight.. I was getting ready to have gastric bypass. A friend of mine was eating supper with me. He was a smoker and told everyone over and over that he wanted to quit. He said to me, "Are you sure you want to have this surgery? You sure love to eat!" He was right, but I didn't want to feel like I had to eat. I was sick of being fat, but couldn't stop eating. I said to him, "If they had a surgery where it would stop you from smoking, you have it done, right?" He looked at the cigarette in his fingers, and said, "NO, I love to smoke too much." It surprised me, but I thought about it. It opened my eyes.
    There are two kinds of addicts 1) those who will do anything to quit, they hate the life, hate the effects, but can't quit on their own, they need help, and 2) there are those that theoretically want to quit, IF they had a magic wand to take away all desire with no pain and no work.
    I had the surgery and it was the best decision of my life. I have lost a hundred pounds and I'm going to the gym, but I'm still waiting for my first date. I used to be a ladies man, smooth talker, but not the douche dude. I'm only saying that to say this, those years of being fat zapped me of my confidence. My decline all started with a motorbike accident. I'm mostly fixed, after years of surgery and rehab, but in my head I'm still handicapped, so to speak.

    Pain pill addict for 15 years. Got on methadone, spent 5ish years on it. Horrible time for me. I was worse off then ever on that stuff. Weaned myself off methadone slowly over a 8 month period, using Percocet and cocaine. Sounds horrible, I know. It worked tho. What can I say… anyways, I got on suboxone when I had enough of that. I’ve been clean, zero relapses, on subs for 5 years as of a week ago. I don’t know when I will get off subs but eventually I will. Also, very accurate description of a methadone clinic. The lines outside were wild. I waited over 4 hours MULTIPLE MULITPLE times in every type of weather possible. I think my longest wait was 6 hours. I will never go back to methadone no matter happens. Me personally, I felt more human and present when I was snorting 90mg of oxycodone four times a day while also snorting yayo all day. That shit was awful. Never again. Subs is the way to go.

    Hey Derek, I have watched lots of your videos before. But this is my first time asking you a question.
    I started methadone 4 days ago, as a short term detox plan from 1 year IM heroin addiction. Before going into methadone, I already tried cold turkey 3 times, but failed at around 40 hours mark, scored, but I'm sure my tolerance dropped quite a bit. So my starting dose is 10ml/day methadone, it holds withdrawal at bay 80% on my first day, on the 3rd day, the methadone i think has accumulate enough to hold me up 90% , my aim is to quit totally, not for maintenance. How do you suggest I should go about this plan? What dosage reduction and timeline should I follow?
    Here in Hong Kong, the doctors are mainly concerned with maintenanace, my case is not their priority.
    Also I'm a seaman, before i join my ship they will drug test me. So a fairly long taper is not ideal for me.
    Today is my fourth day of using methadone, and I just dropped my dose to 7.5ml. I'm pretty optimistic about it as I learned methadone only accumulates more within the body as time goes by. So I figure since I'm feeling almost 100%, I should drop my dose.
    I want to feel NOT 100%, so that I know my tolerance is decreasing. Minor withdrawal symtoms I can handle.

    • @wangson
      @wangson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Pina Colada! From what I've heard and been told by the doctor at the methadone clinic that I use here in Canada...the ideal length of time before a taper begins is 1 year. It shocked me when I was first told that. I'd been putting Oxys up my nose for a year - generally three 80mg pills a day - not to get high, mind you but simply to not feel sick. I've only used Suboxone once and it was while I was still abusing oxys....this was years ago but if I remember correctly, it lasted me about a day and a half, maybe even 2 days before I would start getting the withdrawal sickness. I've now been on methadone for 11 years now. I've made peace with the fact that I'll no doubt require the methadone for the rest of my days.
      I notice that you posted your comment 6 months ago. I do hope things are good for you these days and wish you only the best.

    What you experienced with the numb body after waking up is called sleep paralysis and is incredibly common and harmless. I'm currently on 75mg of methadone. I made the decision to get on methadone after a few horrible precipitated withdrawal episodes with fentanyl. Buprenorphine worked great with getting me off heroin & oxycodone, but fentanyl is another story due to it being lipophilic. Eventually I would have to get off of methadone too, and that scares me somewhat. I'm semi-functioning right now because of the methadone.

      @@samsiev5282I was on methadone for 3+ years and just got off 11 days ago. I tapered at 2mg a week from 80mg to 2mg then stopped entirely and besides some minor symptoms I feel good.
      I would recommend tapering at no more than 2mgs a week and ideally drop down to 1mg a week for the last 10 msg or even slower than that.
      You got this just gotta be persistent.

      Well done on getting off various things. Methadone is nasty. I did a ten day detox 19 months ago after a 28 year habit. Started in detox on 40 first night then 30, 22, 18, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 then 2ml. I was then on clonidine for a few days to help with any methadone withdrawals. Came out after 3 weeks. Felt fucking shit but carried on until I started on tramadol then buying 30mg boxes of zomorphs. So back in treatment but giving subutex another go. Last time on that in 2008 I was snorting the tablets so ended up with a daft habit. I’m older and wiser now though so just use them the correct way. Sublingually. Take care and hope it’s worked out for you. 🙏

    You might not want to be like Joe Blogs who has been on Meth for 15/20 years but it seems to work for some people as their still alive and living a decent, stable life.

    2 years clean for me. How long did it take you to feel normal after getting clean. I still have dreams about shooting up. Does it ever go away??
