Thanks Luca! Appreciate it. pH testing is definitely interesting. It doesn't tell the whole story of course, since some chemicals are neutral but damaging to waxes. However, it is interesting when they claim pH neutral, you can work out the base pH by working basic algebra from my dilution and it's telling.
As a novice looking at beginning my DIY detailing this was fantastic information and as an engineer, I appreciated your process and approach, your outcomes were deterministic enough to make me subscribe. great job.
I have used all 3 and like the mega foam a lot and the original. The Mega foam smell reminds me of a Hawaiian Fruit punch drink. That was very interesting info on the ingredients on the mega foam being harsher on the wax you used. That type of info you don't see in most reviews. I always use Bead Maker or Adams Detail Spray as a drying aid after each wash. So there is some protecting being added after each wash. Awesome vid, thank you.
Lastly, there are many other foaming soaps out there as the market starts to pick up for portable foam sprayers (iK foam pro). I would request, if possible, perform the same test (foam, pH level measurement, and wax stripping test) using other foaming soaps offered from Chemical Guys, Turtle Wax, Griots Garage, etc.. etc...
omg man you the best finally someone who really put those shampoos into test i got V07 by CG and that thing remove wax after 1 wash i wish you will post more videos like this one with more brands and products !!
Hey man this video was just i was looking for, thanks a lot! People like you make live easy for everyone of us. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Thanks for this vid!!! Especially going the extra mile to post the document with the chemicals used within the soap. Keep up the good work with the channel!!!!
I sincerely enjoy your videos! Keep up the solid work. It of curiosity, have you ever tried Gyeon products? I have purchased some recently based on branding i suppose. I hope they are actually good. Again great work!
Thanks E J, appreciate you watching! I have tried Gyeon Cure sio2 spray sealant. It is definitely decent but I was expecting more for the price. I do have several of their other products in my queue to test.
I have the Car Shampoo blue one, I got the purple one in 16oz as part of a kit for christmas. I may give that one to someone for christmas! 😂 I love the blue one and I have it in a gallon.
Thanks Brayden! Yea I was a little surprised. Plus if you do the math to back out the 3:1 dilution ratio you realize its even more alkaline. Of course your final pH will depend on the desired dilution and pH of the base water. Granted pH isn’t everything. Plenty of things that aren’t particularly acidic or basic can eat away wax. For instance isopropyl alcohol is an 8. So technically pure iso is less basic than the Ultra shampoo, but obviously it will destroy wax.
This was a very good video , I can say that mega foam is the real deal , and the blue shampoo is a staple in great soaps. Ultra foam is junk and leaves residue. No wonder Adams was giving so much of it away in their mystery buckets.
sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Brodie Onyx thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Great detail review of these car shampoos! Would you please make a review for other shampoos brands? like Gtechniq GWash, Car pro Reset, Gyeon Bathe. More power!
I have the blue, I've been using the blue! Though here I was about to pull the trigger and spend $59 on a gallon on mega foam, why you ask. I'm attracted to shiny things😀 My wallet and I want to thank you so much for this video
The amount of foam does not tell you how well it cleans. Each has a different purpose. For example, the Ultra Foam Shampoo has protectants in it, and you should use the original Adam's Car Shampoo in your bucket to prevent streaking during the contact wash. The Mega Foam is an air-activated solution that creates the most foam for clinging ability, but this does not mean it cleans more than the Car Shampoo variant. My point is that the amount of foam only tells you part of the story.
But how does it clean with the recommended use? We only saw the foam capability not cleaning capability straight out of the gun. For example, Bilt hamber foam is almost water from the gun but cleans like hell.
This is a good point. Cleaning is not something I tested directly. I would suspect Mega Foam is the harder cleaner based on how it attacked the wax. This would make sense since the most gentle shampoo is unlikely to be the best degreaser. Generally I have regularly cleaned and garaged cars so its rare I have a scrubbing power first need. Typically I’m most interested in the amount of lubrication (foam) and actually how mild it is, which IMO is the opposite of how well it cleans. Im mostly removing brake dust, dust, pollen, etc.. I could however see how others could benefit in knowing which is the strongest cleanser. Especially the offroad crowd. Ill see if I can come up with a uniform way to test that.
Bilt hamber foam is insane. I looks like it will be terrible as it produces little foam, but it’s by far the strongest cleaning snow foam I’ve tried. Most of their range is outstanding, particular surfex HD, autowheel and double speed wax. If only they bothered their arse adding fragrances to their products, they would sell better.
These are more for foam and lubrication to maintain your finish and protection. If you have a very dirty car or need to strip it you can use their strip wash or carpro multi X and Reset
Oh man I wish I had 60fps 4K at this full frame bitrate. But that would cost like $15k for one camera. Im trying to give the best clarity/detail over frame rate. My action cams will do 4k 60fps but the color and bitrate are terrible. This main a/b cam setup is 10 bit color 600mbit+ detail. This is why there is almost no noise in the video. The sensor in the z6 I use is a full frame 35mm vs ~6mm in action cams and cell phones.
Ahh yea on a small screen the detail is harder to appreciate. Colors should still look great at 10 bit on the nice iphone displays, love my iphone 11 display.
Keep in mind its just one test against one wax, but i am suspicious since it has the organic solvent and iso in it. Pretty harsh ingredient wise. It is the most diluted when sprayed via lance/gun so it has that going for it. Ill probably test it some more.
Isaac. I would say all shampoos and mechanical abrasion (brush or pad) will strip wax. In my test the mega foam was just more aggressive at stripping. Keep in mind, it will probably clean better. The milder blue shampoo doesn't clean serious grime and gunk well, it's best on well maintained often washed cars.
Ultra foam you are the weakest link. I've snooped around online and noticed the reviews seem to reflect that as well. People are generally not satisfied with it especially compared to the OG or Mega Foam. I like the idea of the Mega Foam as a prewash and for touchless washes but the OG has the versatility for bucket washes. There is also the value per wash. Mega foam can drop down to 1ounce per foam cannon fill versus the 3oz of the OG but the OG is about half the cost per gallon and comes in 5 gallon as well. The Adam's site periodically has 20% sales too so you can get down to around .50 cents per foam cannon fill either way. Thanks for the great comparison video!
Damian you are exactly right. Especially about the cost comparison too. Catch the right sale and buy 1 or 5 gal and use it a long time. I buy the 5 gallons myself. Same for their basic detail spray. I even thought about making my own (the ingredients are simple) but id be saving almost nothing over buying a 5 gal on sale.
I have seen many car detailing videos but a PH test is what was missing! very interesting and top class content as always
Thanks Luca! Appreciate it. pH testing is definitely interesting. It doesn't tell the whole story of course, since some chemicals are neutral but damaging to waxes. Great comparison video. I loved that you had consistent controls in measuring and proving that the Ultra is not worth it.
Thanks Cody! Appreciate your nice comment!

Thanks for watching! It does smell like punch, and definitely foams well. Just the ingredient made no sense to me for a mild shampoo.
Great video. I have tested ultra in a bucket and out of a Canon and the pH is closer to 7
Lastly, there are many other foaming soaps out there as the market starts to pick up for portable foam sprayers (iK foam pro). I would request, if possible, perform the same test (foam, pH level measurement, and wax stripping test) using other foaming soaps offered from Chemical Guys, Turtle Wax, Griots Garage, etc.. etc...
Definitely going to be testing more shampoos in the future, sounds like people are interested!
The research and testing you do is top notch! Thanks for all the hard work much appreciated 🔥🔥
Thanks Jamie, appreciate you watching as always!

Thank you Alberto, very kind of you to say, appreciate you watching!
This was the perfect video to what I was looking for! Thank you for taking the time to make it!!
Thanks for this vid!!! Especially going the extra mile to post the document with the chemicals used within the soap. Keep up the good work with the channel!!!!
Thanks for watching! Glad you found the documentation helpful, I think it helped explain some of the results :). Appreciate your kind words!
It’s nice to have someone who puts on their white lab coat to test products in addition to real world testing.
I sincerely enjoy your videos! Keep up the solid work. It of curiosity, have you ever tried Gyeon products? I have purchased some recently based on branding i suppose. I hope they are actually good. Again great work!

Excellent video! It confirmed my suspicion of the three soaps. Can't go wrong with the original!
Thanks J.T. appreciate you watching. The original is my favorite!
I have the Car Shampoo blue one, I got the purple one in 16oz as part of a kit for christmas. I may give that one to someone for christmas! 😂 I love the blue one and I have it in a gallon.
The blue one is definitely the best :). Thanks for watching Joe!
Great video & information. Thank you for the ph test. Looks like I am sticking with ol' Blue!
I love the original blue too. Really good stuff. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Crazy how it can be considered PH neutral when in reality its about as basic as salt water or getting close to the realm of baking soda. Great video👍
Thanks Brayden! Yea I was a little surprised. Plus if you do the math to back out the 3:1 dilution ratio you realize its even more alkaline. Glad you enjoyed the video Joe, I really love the blue shampoo! It's still my staple :)
Been watching your videos lately and I’m very impressed with the experiments you set up. Another great video as usual, keep up the great work!
Thanks! Appreciate the kind comment and viewership :)
Enjoy all your content Dmitry. Would love to see your thoughts on some other soaps. Particularly Car Pro Reset and Meguiars Hyper Wash.
Thanks Andy, will definitely do more soap tests in the future :).
sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know a way to get back into an Instagram account??

@Brodie Onyx thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out atm.

@Brodie Onyx It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account!
Great detail review of these car shampoos! Would you please make a review for other shampoos brands? like Gtechniq GWash, Car pro Reset, Gyeon Bathe. More power!
Would you please test AMMO products as well?
But which one got the mud and dirt off ? I can always add wax, but I need to remove salt, road wear, brake dust and mud.
I will work on expanding to more testing for shampoos. This was my first attempt at shampoo tests :).
@@DmitrysGarage cool, keep us posted!

Extremely valuable content. Thank you.

Awesome review thanks!!
Adam's Shampoo is one of the best out there.
I really love the regular adams shampoo. Been my staple forever.

@@devn3813 Reset is basically unbeatable in my opinion.. I very rarely use anything else. I couldn't care less about color and smell..
Do you have any recommendations for strip washes? Don't want to be out all day rewashing a car to reapply a different coating
I have had good luck with Adams Strip Wash.

GREAT testing!! Subscribed!

Foam cannon filter was definitely clogged. All 3 of these can produce much better foam
Great content my guy!
Thank you for watching and the kind comment :), appreciate ya!
What are your thoughts of chemical guys honeydew snow foam ?
Matt, I had some good experiences with that one years ago. Never extensive extensively tested though.
Hmmmm wonder if he received a "small commission" for that Coke zero can placement. 🤔 Cool vid, very informative & detailed.
Hahah, I wish I had Coca Cola money. Glad you liked the video :)

You have to turn the foam cannon all the way to the highest setting, that’s way more foam, and fun.…lol
Haha yea you definitely get more foam that way :).
Ultra foam you are the weakest link.

I think your foam cannon is not the best out there
Thats just a shit foam cannon/ pressure washer setup. 2 oz of mega foam is literal shaving cream, thats wattery crap.
