    If you wish to purchase these products, you have to have an established Facebook account and join their group. Because of recent messages I've received from individuals trying to join the group and simply getting banned, and because of the unorthodox method by which they have you purchase these products through Facebook, I can no longer in good conscience, recommend them.
    I have personally been banned from their group, as well, for being publicly critical of their ordering process. I did this in the hopes that they would create a website, streamline their purchasing process, and make these awesome items accessible to everyone. This hobby is supposed to be fun and enjoyable for everyone around the world.
    I will not promote a product or products that are only accessible to a tiny group of select individuals.

    The model looks great, but where do the 16-inch turrets go?

    Ben noticed that you used a whole lot of tape for the funnels.
    Try next time this.
    1..put down a single layer of tape as a base.
    2..then try to use a a small pieces of cling wrap and put that over the area that you need to mask off.
    3..And just using smaller pieces of tape to secure the the wrap in place.
    And also noticed that you had trouble with the water 💧 Tank.
    Would it be possible if you could scratch build a higher base for it so it will fit properly?
    Yea i know , out of scale ⚖️ just a thought.
    Great build 👍.

    She's looking really good. Come to thinking on it, it's been a while since I've been to Oshkosh. Last time I went was 2016.

    Man alive that funnel colour feels to me to be spot on!!!! All we have is that colour photo of Mauritania in drydock with Olympics funnels in background above the sheds, but this feels perfect for scale.

    Great problem solving. Tried your rail installing method, on a 1/350, worked great.

    Thanks Ben… How do you keep the model dust free while building?

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the room it is in doesn’t get very dusty. I also don’t let the model sit still too long. Basically the act of always working on it keeps it clean. What I’m worried about is when it’s finished and I have to hang on to it until it’s shipped out. That may require some occasional dusting.

    Hey Ben!
    I continue to be fascinated with the skill and precision of your builds. I have a question I hope you , or your followers, can answer. I'm building a 1/350 USS Salem. It's coming along fine...by my standards anyway. I've come across a problem where I jumped the gun, so to speak, and CA glued a part prematurely. It's plastic on plastic and I'm wondering if you have any suggestions on how I can separate these two pieces without ruining the model. I don't want to force it obviously and can't think of anything that would dissolve the CA glue without dissolving the plastic as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you in advance!
    Bryan

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bryan, depending on the parts and how much glue you used, it should come apart with a little work. You can also try scoring the joint with a knife, first. There are CA glue de-bonders out there. I think this are mostly acetone, so use it sparingly.

    Great work as always Ben. I am curious about the ladders rungs extending above the platform for the whistles. Anyone climbing to the platform would have to swing out and then step over to it. Seems scary in the extreme.

    Ben, I don't know whether you've seen this - th-cam.com/video/r-rVFRBFjO4/w-d-xo.html A brilliant piece of work.

    I looked at a number of pictures online and they all look the same as your for the ladder position on the stacks. Location 31:01 in the video. However, if you put the ladder at 4 rungs down from the top, how do you step off the ladder onto the platform. I would think from a "real life" perspective, the top rung should line up with the platform so it is east to step off onto the platform. Anyway, your model building skills are top notch. Thanks for posting.

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wondered about that myself. And I’ll have to double check, but I think the rungs do continue past the stand. This would give you access to the area above the whistles. As far as getting on and off the ladders… I think it’s more of a young man’s job 😉

      You know that’s very interesting. Because when this video went live it was way down on views from normal. I wonder if TH-cam messed something up.

    Regarding the problem with the pipework on smokestack 3, are you working with a combo of kit part pipes and other kit pipework or is it all from one kit?

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a combination of parts from different sources.

    What color did you use in the well decks? It looks like a rusty orange color. Both build look great.

    I would suggest for the little tank (judging by the piping it's a condensate tank), just clip off the tank piping and adjust the feet to match the funnel pipe. Just make up the tank piping out of brass rod to fit. That way you can place it wherever you need it to fit the space. Those funnels look awesome! She looks like Titanic now. Fantastic work as always Ben.

    Wow? That doesn't seem to cover it. I continue to be impressed. I referenced you, the other day, on a different Facebook group. Guy there was doing VERY nice PE work on one of his models, I think a boat. The work the two of you do is very comparable... in short, amazing. Love how the ship looks with its funnels in place. Will be interesting to see what it looks like with the skylights over the staircases in place. Yours, with the lights, should be cool. Press on!
