low grip -> u need a treated surface for maximum grip so that the car "hooks up" faster. You lose a lot of performance to lost grip, just look at the tire marks at the start from the Holden. Electric cars can pulse their wheels 1000's of times a second which is why they are consistently fast.

Great example of numbers VS genuine excitement in the seat. Hq driver was puckering so hard the whole drive, imagine the excitement and adrenalin after. Where as driving the N was just, yeah that went fast, great.

650 hp not gonna get you into the 9's on a 4K pound car. unless your 60 foot is somewhere in the low 1's & even that is a long shot.
@@notchit3542 2850lbs mate. 1300kgs the hq.
Needs way bigger tyres
I think someone caught the number 1 key when typing the hp figures 😂
800hp maybe of that
I still remember years ago in the magazines they were saying the most powerful commodore on the Dyno was over 1000Hp but the fastest down a quarter mile only made 600hp. You get to a stage more ponies won’t make the car go quicker. You have to tune the gearing, chassis etc.
So basically that 1800hp Holden junk, would have been annihilated by the Lamborghini and Ferrari supercars you used in your previous videos 😂😂😂
Love the hair swing from Steve to kick things off. Bogans in their element. Was hoping you'd do a roll race - very happy Steve.
Maybe the next race should be how quick can you refuel
Yea show me to the nearest methanol pump, mate.
Love those of you who can read the HP of a car as if you were a walking dyno. How do you know its not 1800 HP? Maybe Steve wasnt putting the boot hard in as that thing would just spin wheels all week. No matter how fast the new cars are old school cool always wins out.
So many experts 😂
The Holden was holden together!
I had a mild 308 in a hatchback with roughly 280rwhp that was doing high 12s. I think someone might have been reading the dyno sheets on that kingswood upside down.
The Holden just proves where old dino cars were are where modern cars are..... Give me the Hyundai with its long warranty every day of the week.
Thank you Mr Boring
@matdan2 It's called practical... I have motorbikes for fun. I certainly don't need some donkey slow Holden that won't be reliable or useful.
@@matdan2
Yeah, you stick with your donkey & cart, gramps.
@@mikadavies660
That Holden is an utter piece of shit.
I’d rather a stock version of it.
Couple of Bores up in chat
Dave Hancocks old kinger, looks like the motor hasn't changed at all over the past couple of years, pretty much 1000hp, gotta hype it up a little for the show, nothing wrong with that! very cool and quick car! well done to the new owner! its a 560 merlin big block with twin 1150 dominator carbs, 4340 steel crank, dart 360 heads and all that, very nice motor, not an ideal setup for racing on an unprepped surface! that EV has no chance if they raced on a proper quarter mile track!
1300kg with 1000hp should handily spank 2200kg with 380hp, prepped surface or not.
@@koukx4169 I think you need to study physics a bit before making a claim like that lol
@@BADQ is my claim really that absurd? Obviously a 1300kg/1000hp car would beat a 2200kg/650hp car at a prepped track. What I'm saying is, when Paul switched off the front engine, effectively robbing nearly 40% of its power AND traction the old beast should have walked it, rolling start or not
@@koukx4169 Not really but still, a lot of factors still at play here - there, he has much less weight in that HQ on a crap road surface, plus not the right tyres for the condition, the 2 speed glide gearbox isn't really ideal either vs what a 8 speed auto? big difference there, plus traction control on the EV would be far more superior to maintain maximum traction making it more effective in the end even with RWD mode. Its all good fun though, looked like loads of fun either way!
There is no replacement for displacement 💪😎👍
apparently there is though and its electric.
@@deleted.6743electric cars are qucik but not top speed.
@@VarunTomee-kr6nf It's rare to be able to use top speed. Even Autobahns are decreasing no limit zones
Pretty cool, hsve you raced a r35 GTR?
A real car versus a Tamiya, i love it😂
If it was Madmax, the Hyundai driver would get a spear in the head at 200km/h...
Why is a 7 second quarter mile car taking 5 seconds to 100? My cayenne does that……
low grip -> u need a treated surface for maximum grip so that the car "hooks up" faster. You lose a lot of performance to lost grip, just look at the tire marks at the start from the Holden. Electric cars can pulse their wheels 1000's of times a second which is why they are consistently fast.
Because it don’t have 1800hp someone’s telling porkies
It must take 5 seconds to 100kmh and then the next 2 seconds, it surges to 300kmh 😂
@@jamesreichmann2129 Doesn't explain the quite terrible trap speed of 218km/h. There is absolutely no way thing has anywhere close to 1800hp
@@_shreyash_anand oh look, another bot account who have no idea that the HQ wasn't at full throttle during any of the drag races, because it's traction limited. Do you have any idea how sticky a prepped drag strip is? This video is done on a completely unprepped road.
5n Did you use Boost?
1800…? 😂 be lucky to make 800.
Do you still get the full 641 hp if you use rear wheel drive mode? I am confused how it can still beat the other car when I think the rear motor doesn't give that much power alone.
It would not surprise me if the cars brain decided it knew better than him and turned 4wd back on because he stomped on it.
Holden 🔛🔝
When you engage NGB doesn't it just override all other settings and give you maximum power? (meaning, it will go from RWD to AWD)
Still take the holden anyday over the electric toaster thing
@FarqueKnowsWhere saying you're gay without saying it - you own and drive a EV lol
Great example of numbers VS genuine excitement in the seat. Hq driver was puckering so hard the whole drive, imagine the excitement and adrenalin after. Where as driving the N was just, yeah that went fast, great.
Sponsored by Hyundai… shock Hyundai wins
If a dinosaur that is meant to have 1340Kw cant beat a modern electric with only 1/3 the power at 478Kw, what more can you say
Hi didn't get the power on the street because of slipping wheels, are they not warm or what is his problem?
Eficiency wins. But boring....
Fastest Jockey probably thought that when the Model T Ford came out
I bloody love this channel
actual weapon of a car channel
I love this stuff, keep up the good work!
what a great video Paul LOVED IT
I've owned a lot of cars, from an XY Falcon, R34 Skyline, RX4 Mazda, Ford Escorts, and others. Now I own a Ford Ranger, and that thing, even with the lift, will still handle better than a lot of older cars I've owned, and spent good money on, and will do better off the line than most of them too. Modern vehicle have come a long way, in every aspect.
So what is the weight of each vehicle
That was fun to watch
Electric cars have a huge advantage in traction control as response and torque is just instant the system can put power down to the very limit the tires and surface will allow.
1800hp is all show no go. Best to put that in the museum for relics 😂😂😂
Even if the HQ only had 200hp I'd rather have it than the other thing.
Absolutely mate. All day long. Too much emphasis on "speed" with the EV. So what. I want a car with Class and a Soul. Cheers 👍
Somebody lied about their dyno figures. 1800hp my you know what.. more like 280 hp
you guys do the best drag races , great fun .
love that HQ what a build .
gotta pick it every time ,but have to say that Hyundai is quite the fun car .
thanks
i would have the HQ it sounds awesome
i can say the holden would make it accross auz. good luck with the elec, 6 days wirh a magna wagon, how long elec?? (gold coast to perth)
Just here for the comment section.....but I'd have the Hyundai, mainly because of air-conditioning 😂 and the fact that it won't piss the neighbours off.
Where is it locally?
The landscape is beautiful 🌄👍
Love the work that has gone into that HQ but how in the hell is that street legal? 1,800 hp with a live rear axle? Scary!
Paul should start the videos "Good day I'm f**k yeah" from now on. 😂
You almost melted those SiC transistors. 😂
Always do drag racing, it's great
Oh wow, can’t wait for this one. 😅
if you could mate that eengine to the traction control and drive tech on the ioniq youd have a lot of fun
I love the Contessa Gold Holden HQ.
Last week I was passed by a 10 year old hyundai. Then I woke up. There isnt any 10 year old korean cars on the road!
There's plenty grandpa
@@koukx4169 Sorry , I meant to say, there arent any in my developed country. When the head gasket blew, they went to landfill. South Korea thinks water and oil are interchangeable in the engine. I wonder what they think can mix in an EV? Lithium and water perhaps?
