That’s terrible. I train every week and we practice malfunctions and failure to fire often so I’m constantly having to dry fire. Trying to decide between these two guns
I was surprised at how well I shot the CZ, considering the trigger issues. However, the creep does seem to be smoothing out. I am also surprised at how far left I was grouping with the P226. It’s most likely due to my inexperience with the legion model as I tend to be on target with other P226’s I’ve shot. Even so you can see how much tighter the grouping is with the P226 over the CZ. A good trigger job would alleviate that issue with the SP-01, but it won’t be necessary for a home defense pistol which is my particular use with this model. I do intend to take the P226 legion out again and shoot it while resting to see if it is user error or if need to drift the sights. You will also notice the slide did not lock back on the P226 in the slow-mo footage. I was using bulk Blazer Brass. Since the P226 had only seen about 150 rounds thus far, I think the spring may be a bit stiff or/and the Blazer a little underpowered.
I cannot see your thumb placement in the slow motion video but most probably you were touching the slide release, causing the slide not to lock after the last round. It's a very common issue. Regarding the trigger of the SP-01, you can buy a $25 spring set from mcarbo, which will make it much better. If the creep bothers you too much, you have to buy a competition hammer from ggw or cz custom.
@@georgemhaylov7252 You are correct. I also had the problem when shooting the SP2022. I have changed my shooting grip over the years and the more aggressive grip I use now rides higher on the pistol. Potentially putting pressure on the slide release.
Nice vid. I just want to say that I think a lot of people make too big of a deal about bore axis height. Especially in 9mm guns. My p226 is in .357 sig (I also have a .40 drop in barrel), and as heavy as this gun is, the recoil just feels like 9mm or 9mm +p. Also, I absolutely love my sigs. P220,226,227, and 229. I also really like the look of some of the CZs and will get my hands on one someday.
Thanks for watching! I agree in that the feel of the grip in your hand will have more of an effect than bore axis. Also, I'll be doing a video shooting a P226 in 357sig soon.
I have a CZ 75B. Have held the P01 and the SP01. Cannot say enough about grip ergos and how it fits my small to medium sized hands. Have some trouble reaching the trigger in DA and there are ways the trigger can be improved. Thinking of a trigger job and thinner grips. Nice video. Do more CZs please like the Shadow 2 and TSO.
Thanks for watching Robert! If I can get my hands on a Shadow 2 or TSO, I promise to make a video. As for the trigger, it can definitely be improved. There are kits out there to change out springs and such, or you can send it out to places like Cajun gun works. I personally have not used them, but the CZ community seems to think they are the best! cajungunworks.com/
I have had the pleasure of owning both you really can’t go wrong with either model. I would say the CZ ergos are a bit more to my liking. It seems less bulky than a 226. As far as racking the gun the 226 wins hands down! The SP01 tactical is hard to rack the gun without taking off skin. People who haven’t shot one will not understand how hard it can be unless you get it milled for an optic. I would get the SP01 tactical and upgrade the trigger. The 226 is just a little to bulky and if you run something like a Surefire X300 or a TLR1 HL that thing is a tank. Really it comes down to what configuration the pistols is in I.E SA, Da , Da/Sa, LEM, Dak.
Thanks for watching Petenw! I think your assessment is spot on. Both are great pistols but the CZ grip fits my hand better than the Sig. I've considered changing out the trigger on my SP-01, but haven't "pulled the trigger" on that yet. 😁
@@texmexshoots The stock trigger is adequate maybe if I dip my feet in IDPA I’ll swap out the trigger and have it milled! I’ve heard good things about Cajun gun works.
I very easily prefer the CZ-75 SP-01 in general. The P226 is okay, but my hand literally never fits it for whatever reason. Also the high bore-axis always throws me off, and the CZ-75 SP-01 fixes both issues to a point where it's a no-brainer which I'd pick. I tried to like the P226 numerous times, but I can never do it...
I will always have a fondness for the P226 since it was one of the first pistols that I learned to shoot well. That being said, as the video demonstrates, I shoot the CZ better.
I've heard nothing but good about both of these . Can't speakfor the CZ , but I own a 226 MK 25 , and it is the smoothest , most reliable and accurate 9mm I've fired .The Legion version is probably even better ....
Thanks for watching Paul! I think the main difference in the feel between the MK25 and Legion would be the grips. I prefer the thinnest grips possible and the legion g10 are good in that respect.
SIG won the day for me. But the CZ is better for competition. My purposes are EDC and having a great supply chain and armorer network to support the gun is essential. The SIG armorer network is nearly endless. The slide riding on top of the rails makes combat reloads faster. Both guns are fabulous.
Couldn't agree with you more Charles. That is sort of how I operate as well. My carry tends to be Sig, but for range time I enjoy the CZs. Thanks for watching!
@@texmexshoots my future wife was a policewoman in Czech Republic, her go to is the CZ 75 and up until a few years ago, it was difficult to find parts and armorer support for that weapon. The acquisition of Colt helped. I even said to her that up until a few years ago, I wouldn't have felt good with a CZ as a EDC in America. At any rate, these are the two best DA/SA guns ever made!!
@@texmexshoots yes I hope it will happen also. In the meantime, CZ should take more note in the market for their existing products. Any updates or changes they make need to be in response to customer demands and user friendliness. The P-07 requires a punch to remove one of the pins that holds the gun together. Going with a modern takedown lever would be more user friendly. On the beloved CZ-75, additional slide serrations at the top of the slide would make tap-rack-bang easier for a shooter. Once again, a modern takedown lever would be a great thing on that weapon system for field servicing and user friendliness.
Old school CZ75s had a much beter trigger, but since the B series which added a firing pin block for safety, the trigger reset has been longer to release the plunger safety inside the slide. The amount of creep is determined by the disconnector connected to the hammer, so replacing it with a CZ Custom or CGW pre-B disconnector (need to remove the firing pin block) will dramatically reduce pre-travel creep and reset. In addition, I recommend you CZ85 Combat trigger with more straight, gently curved design for much better trigger feeling. CZ Competition hammer or other custom hammer from CZC and CGW will make single action trigger breaks very crisp. In addition, CGW's light trigger return spring and 13 or 11.5 pound hammer spring will give you a great trigger pull that will outperform other hammer fired pistols. That SIG P226 you are comparing with is Legion model which is one of the highend P226 series, it's already has a short reset trigger sear and is an excellent factory custom pistol, while the SP01 is a standard model, so if you really want to compare on the same level, the SP-01 Shadow or Shadow Orange might be more appropriate, but I did enjoy your comparison video. Please try to compare different guns. I look forward to it. Thanks. (need to remove the firing pin block)
Thanks for the info A7! I have heard that CGW's does great work. They seem to be the industry standard for CZ's. I can say that with use the trigger has improved on its own.
I prefer the SP 01, the thing felt right the moment I picked it up at the store and I never looked back. The new Springfield SA-35 getting ordered next week, I'm gonna see if it's a "CZ killer" i think it may be
If it means anything to anyone, I love both. The 226’s down side is the way it feels/fits in my hand. (I wear a medium size glove for comparison) if I get a great grip on it it feels like the tip of my finger is barely on the trigger which is bizarre to me considering I’ve never had that issue with any other firearm. The SP01 tac feels like it was made for my hands specifically. I never fear that my 226 will give any issues either whether that be combat scenarios or range shooting. The CZ is a little more edgy with conditions/ settings. If both were to fall in some sand or mud I’d put my trust in the 226 shooting fine. The 226 g10 grips feel a little cheap to me but maybe that’s just me, I’m actually thinking of letting go to get another sp01. Both great firearms I guess it just boils down to what you’re intended use is for them. At the range my CZ’s are far more accurate but both IMO are good for self defense and range. The 226 excels in combat shooting (it’d make a reliable in of the world firearm) lol EDIT… I also have a hard time with CZ’s slides, they’re great and keep recoil down due to a low bore axis but they are less comfortable to handle the slide. The 226 has a hard maneuver slide stop (it’s sooo small). The CZ is harder to break down (it’s not hard, just harder) the Sig 226 is super easy.
In the end it is a comparison of two great pistols. You can't go wrong with either. It just comes down to which one shoots better for a particular individual. Or if its an option for you, get both!
Awesome video…IMHO I believe you were pulling your shots to the left with the Sig because of the larger grip size and trigger reach. The CZ fits your hand better! Great shooting with both though!!
Yes, you get more for your money with the CZ. That has always been true with them. Even with their rimfire rifles, you get a lot for what you are paying.
It’s a strange and beautiful thing. I don’t know what it is, but for whatever reason even with the tiny sights, stock trigger (with the factory creep), and cheap rubber grips people shoot extremely well with the Cz series. Even the cheap clones like the Jerichos and Tangfolios produce great results, even with shooters who have never shot one before. I have a P01 and it’s an absolute tack driver that punches way above its weight.
Thanks for watching Chad! I completely agree. There is something about the design that seems to make them easy to shoot. I think it's the grip more than anything.
I've owned both, cz all day. Your recoil impulse is clearly less with the cz too in the shots u took. Got the urban gray suppressor ready p-07, sp-01 tactical with Dawson competition sights and lok grips and a stock shadow 2 with the blue aluminum grips, each of them are fantastic firearms and never had a malfunction in either. I would never get a p226 legion as cerakote is a joke on a 1000 dollar firearm, the ejecting brass alone will ding up the finish. Why someone would purchase that over the bomb proof nitron finish is BEYOND me. The PVD is version was slightly better but still nothing compared to nitride on a 1k pistol.
Yes, but I got to be in the very exclusive Legion club! I gots me a cool coin and everything. :D I know what you mean though. Not sure why they ended up picking that particular finish.
I think you are correct Michael. Was a difficult question to answer. Had to do some serious searching on the web. It’s amazingly not an answer you can easily gloss from the CZ website.
You really can't go wrong with either pistol for self-defense. But I agree that you can probably tweak the CZ more and turn it into a great target pistol.
Thanks for watching Mr. Cowdell! That is certainly one of the complaints of the SP01. The short slide has its benefits (low bore axis) but with that comes the detriment of not having much to grab on to.
Another great comparison. Thanks! Looks like the Sig might buck just a little more than the CZ. Slow mo very helpful. How does the jericho 941 compare for flat shooting vs these? Thanks again!
For me, personally, I can shoot the Jericho faster than either of these pistols. However it is most likely due to the weight. It helps soften the recoil and stabilize the pistol allowing quicker follow up shots.
If you shoot USPSA, IDPA, or Defense pistol and shoot rapidly on the move, the myopic trigger details people focus on go out the window. You don't feel the take up or anything else as you are shooting too fast to notice. You can add a CGW pro package to the SP-01 , change sights and grips and still have change left over vs the P226. They are both absurd for CCW. If you stand flatfooted and shoot slowly at paper, then it's a toss up as they are both easy to shoot. The P-01 is what the P229 should have been. More ergonomic, more intuitive controls, particularly the decocker. You don't really see anyone shooting P226's for long in competition shooting for a reason. Depends what kind of shooting interests you. Do you shoot 600 rounds a year? 6000 rounds? 15,000 rounds? That really determines WHY we choose what we choose.
That is all excellent information kagyu1. I agree that at least for me, the SP-01 and P226 are too large for CCW. I have never shot USPSA or IDPA but could easily see how high stress situations and attempting to get shots off quickly would shift focus away from the trigger pull.
I dont know why but the 226 feels better to shoot. Ergos on the CZ feel awsome but the trigger.. needs some work. Overall both great pistols but the 226 slightly better. IMO lol
Thanks for watching Ambient Light! I agree with you that the 226 has a betting trigger out of the box. It was also the first pistol I bought that I was able to shoot well without much practice.

I own both… The CZ sits in the night stand and the sig is a safe queen… the CZ has a better double action trigger while the sig has a better single action trigger.
With the current price of the sp-01 being around $750 do you still think it’s worth the price ? Ive been wanting to pull the trigger on buying one recently

Thank you for the observation! I think you may be correct. I have to focus more to keep the Sig on target.
Good comparison, I’m a cz guy but that particular sig is a very nice pistol for the price point between 2 the gotta say cz imho gives you more.
Yes, you get more for your money with the CZ. That has always been true with them. Even with their rimfire rifles, you get a lot for what you are paying.
@@texmexshoots I have a CZ Bobwhite 20ga. SXS. Under $700 out the door. Their shotguns are hard to beat for the money, too.
cant go wrong with either. I haven’t shot a P226, but I have shot a P229. I preferred the CZ 75 sp-01. Will likely get a CZ sp-01 here soon.
I agree Cheifin! You will love the CZ SP-01. I hope you are able to find a good deal on one!
It comes with the snap cap because you should never dry fire a B model CZ because of the firing pin retaining pin takes a lot of abuse without it.
Thanks for the information!
Can't beat the CZ, the price vs the Sig alone is a win.
Thanks for watching! Yes, Sigs are typically more expensive. Especially the Legion models.
Cz for the win 🥇 hands down
It's a great pistol!
I thought the SP meant service Pistol. Not sure about the O1. I love mine though.
I think you are correct Michael. Was a difficult question to answer. Had to do some serious searching on the web. It’s amazingly not an answer you can easily gloss from the CZ website.
It’s probably the year it was released
I own both. You can upgrade the cz .more than you can the sig. Have a 1.1/2 pound trigger on the cz . And can only get a 4.1/2 pound on the sig.
You really can't go wrong with either pistol for self-defense. But I agree that you can probably tweak the CZ more and turn it into a great target pistol.
Only problem with the SP 01 is the side can be very hard to rack , Not much to grab on to. Had a brand new one traded it off for a P226.
Thanks for watching Mr. Cowdell! That is certainly one of the complaints of the SP01. The short slide has its benefits (low bore axis) but with that comes the detriment of not having much to grab on to.
I had this issue the first CZ I got. You get used to it real quick with enough training.
Yeah, you pretty much have to go with a slingshot grip.
Lighter recoil spring and some break in time will fix that.
I would like a review of CZ Sp01 tactical vs CZ P09
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I don't currently own a P09, but if I am able to get my hands on one I will do a comparison.
That's good shootin' Tex!
Thanks! I should have taken slower shots at a longer distance to see how well they grouped. Maybe for the next video!
@@texmexshootsthe slide on the cz is much smaller height wise and that's why
@@johndodo2062 Makes sense John! Thanks for watching.
Own both can’t go wrong with either one
Couldn't agree more Hank! Thanks for watching.
My 2nd CC gun was the CZ 75D PCR, so very interested in the SP-01 now after how good the PCR feels in my hand. Anyone know how CZ Custom can sell the SP-01 Shadow for $932. Most places have them for $1199.
Thanks for watching Dan! Not sure how the custom shop can sell them for less but I hope you get one at a good price!
Yo most those sites are fake if you haven’t figured it out. If they want Zelle or Bitcoin they are a scam
CZ wins hands down due to the grip. It hands down is 100x more ergonomic
Can't argue with that HookLunkers. Thanks for watching!
I own both… The CZ sits in the night stand and the sig is a safe queen… the CZ has a better double action trigger while the sig has a better single action trigger.
Thanks for watching! They are both great pistols. Each has its own qualities and like you I feel lucky to own both. Take care and stay safe!
Owned both. Still have my CZ 75. CZ fits my hands far better.
Tanks for watching Taggs! I agree. Wish more handguns had the CZ grip size and style.
With the current price of the sp-01 being around $750 do you still think it’s worth the price ? Ive been wanting to pull the trigger on buying one recently
They are worth it. My only complaint is the stock trigger takes some time to smooth out, but other than that it is an amazing pistol.
@@texmexshoots good to hear ! Already had lol grips, a Cajun pro kid and Dawson sights in a cart 🤣 my mind is made up
sp01, no question!
Thanks Vman. You do some sweet reloads on that Sp01!
@@texmexshoots thanks bro!
I now have both after I traded my Glock 45 for the cz75 sp01 tactical and love them both
Thanks for watching Jeffrey! The SP01 really is a special pistol. Love my 226 Legion too. Both are great looking and shooting!
I miss my CZ 75 SP-01
I'm sure it misses you too! :D
I sold my sig p226 and still got my CZ pre B ..
Another vote for the CZ!
Time to get both. RIP bank account!
That's always the right answer Michael! 😁
I'm not completely sure but I thought the S in SP stood for steel. Who knows. I don't speak Czech either LOL.
After some research, someone who claims to have spoken with CZ stated it means Service Pistol Model 01. Since I read it on the internet it must be true! 🤣
CZ for life
Thanks for watching! CZ makes good stuff! I'd like to get one of their polymer pistols at some point.
@@texmexshoots I keep a P10C for home defense, and a P07 for EDC and love both of them.
I fell in love with CZ when I tried out a CZ 75 about 4 years ago at the range. After that nothing else did it for me other than CZ.
@@angelovalavanis2314 I don't know if I would get the striker fired P10C or the hammer fired P07. Both have great reviews.
In my opinion, CZ has some of the best grip designs. Their pistols always feel great in my hand. Making their pistols easier to shoot, control and get on target.
good shoter
Thanks! Both pistols are great shooters
Folks, it does absolutely no matter what gun you shoot. If the sights are installed correctly, you will hit the target in the middle.
That's a good point. However I think that people who may still squeeze their hands while shooting can shift their point of aim while firing.
@@texmexshoots You talk about those who cannot shoot. I am talking about those who can shoot.
Fair enough! For me, I became proficient with pistols last. Rifles first, shotguns second and then I finally got good with pistols after lots of practice.
p226 looks better. cz75 shoots better
@@sixpooltube thanks for watching Sixpool! The CZ does fit my hand better than the P226
Hit him up on wickr
ok
P226 is fugly
Awww she ain't that bad RocknRolla. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder 😁
Immaglockdealer has all this in store
thanks for the heads up!
