Yo Guys! Thank Connor for this fun fast edit. Also, the audio is shit on this one, it was recorded while we drove a moving truck across country (with some review goodies and my Time Machine art installation). Theres a ton of things I would have smoothed over if we had more time but this type of video has a shelf life so here it is.........If you take anything away from this video it's NAB is a blast, you should plan to visit next year, and if you do, come meet me and be in the recap vlog. You have one year to plan, lets go.
10:35 So, I'm in the market to get a budget anamorphic lens. Does the company you're talking about here start with an "S" then? I'm not sure who else it would be at this point and don't want to waste my money if it is the "S" company. I tried a quick google search and only get the "Fishing line flare hack" videos and articles. So, any clarification would be appreciated.
I’m not sure if I’m more impressed that you actually filmed this with your Ronin 4D, or the fact that this was the most entertaining, most informative NAB recap I have seen yet.
My arms hurt just watching him run a 4D that long. I'm so glad I have a support vest 😅
Finally, someone not caught up in the hype and keeps it real about the PYXIS.
Except most of his statement was wrong. The Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K was announced back in September of 2023, not 2 years ago, and it didn't have internal NDs either. The Cinema Camera 6K also only had BRAW.
@@mrshaheedmalik He's comparing it to the 6K Pro. Released 1.5 years ago (so he rounded up 🤷♂). 6K Pro has mechanical ND filters, PYXIS doesn't. 6K Pro can also record in ProRes 422, PYXIS can't.

Wild, right?! I would've thought they would have priced it at a premium, but good for them, they made the price accessible to filmmakers who specialize in car-mounted cinematography.

We had a hell of a time last year vlogging and shooting with multiple cameras. So I tried to make it fun and shoot only on one camera for everything. No other reason than I gave a talk at DJI with the ronin 4D loaded up with weights and thought it would be an interesting challenge. My arm hurts now. Bahahah
I was literally just looking for a portal smoke machine. Neat.
This format is incredible. So entertaining while very helpful for a sadly missed year at NAB. Also, totally agree on the PYXIS. Add a few more drops of dynamic range and it would be worth it…

Why is the ATLAS 2x anamorphic so much more zoomed in than the BLAZAR 2x anamorphic footage. Did you shoot the ATLAS in super 35?
Atlas Orion 18mm IS super35. Not full frame. The blazars are full frame. This was stated in my commentary a few times. ;)
Loved the vid but you were wrong on most things about the Pyxis. Its a full frame camera too just like the cinema camera 6k not the pocket 6k pro like you were comparing it too. Among other things. Other than that though great vid.

The cinema 6k does not have internal ND's either. Only pocket 6k pro.
I’m surprised by the lack of distortion in the centre of the Atlas 18mm. Obviously tons on the sides but the middle it very controlled.

I am like chomping at the bit for the SynthEyes/insta360 workflow breakdown…
I have a log profile question/assertion that is causing a lot of contention whenever I comment it. My pov is do not use log profiles at night time or in low light as it causes the imagine to come out noisy and messy, because it’s a profile for high dynamic range scenarios and at night there is no high dynamic range. Am I right or am I totally missing a point here!?. Like say your in an average town or city at night time, street lighting and some shop lighting. I’d never ever use VLOG because the shadows will look like utter garbage!. But I keep getting people replying with omg dude omg log profile is god and must be used at all times for everything because your camera has it!. Like unless I’m stupid I’m sure that’s wrong?!. To me it’s like using shallow focus or slow motion for everything. Just because your camera/lens can blur the backround, do slow motion or shoot in a log profile doesn’t mean you should use it no matter what!. Am I totally wrong!?.

To be honest I like the concept of the PYXIS, I don’t mind the lack of ND or price … but WHY are they still using the same sensor as the pocket 4K ? Just bigger… hence why the readout is too slow. It was kind of slow in MFT, very slow in APS and now unusable slow in FF. As much as I love full frame, I would rather that camera be a good S35… like 6K 120fps 4K 180. 6K at 36fps sound like a joke 😂

You keep saying that the Blazar Cato 2x anamorphic lenses are going to be $1,000... I'm not sure you understood correctly. They haven't released the price yet. The Remus 1.5x lenses are about $1,000. I'm guessing that's what you heard?... I mean, I hope you're right, but I have my doubts...
What they told me is under $1000 for the Catos. They didn't have a number but they had the goal, under $1000.
