Hey guys we have a few Orbits left on the website for this batch, we're extending the $500 off Pro Kit until NAB next week. So if you've been waiting to get one, these are about the same price as they were on kickstarter. Enter code "MAKEARTNOW$500" at check out. See you all at NAB at the Kondor Blue booth and at the DJI booth on April 17th 2pm! www.marblorbit.com/store/p/pro-kit
Your videos are always just...so good, man. I know that's not the most eloquent way to say it, but it felt the most sincere. Every video you put out is informative, helpful, thoughtful, accurate, and beautiful. Your talents are out of this world!!
Sensor stab is definitely playing a role Also he stuck to high FPS slowed down to normal speeds on the longer lenses. Notwithstanding, this process is very replicable and it’s archetypal to the point it could be easily packaged for commercial clients looking for product shots. It’s a great setup for working photographers
@@The_CGA The shots look smoother when sensor stabilizer is turned off actually. Its counter intuitive but you fight the stabilization otherwise--- mechanically stabilized using the vibration free Orbit motor is all you need, it's literally as smooth as bearings. There are plenty of shots that are in real time, the ones of me talking are 24fps, I stuck to slowmo because at that focal length and speed those are significantly less nauseating for the viewer, but the realtime shots are just as smooth as the slowmo ones. which is absolutely bonkers. ALL OF THIS I DIDN'T KNOW BEFORE I MADE THE VIDEO.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL The IBIS part kind of makes sense. I'm guessing it introduced a weird stutter? If the sensor's inertia is pulling it to one side of the camera, I'd assume the IBIS would have issues correcting it
@@kai.05 yeah exactly. Especially on the longer Gmaster lenses (70-200 and 200-600) those have their own stabilization, and both combined it was making a correction for horizontal movement when there shouldn't be a correction, introducing a stop-stutter effect.
This is my favorite video! So fun seeing you do this in your backyard, and I love seeing you interact with your son. You're a wonderful father, Josh. Love you, man.
So Damn good - Love love love - Shot at 9:18 !!! Never stop with the Incredible ideas & fun. Also Great moment with your kid - 100% Living the good life
I think one of the coolest parts of this is that if you don't have a whole stack to drop on the motor it would be pretty easy to set up a manual version of this. I think it would be a lot more stable if you used multiple slack lines, at least with one on the top to prevent it from swinging. This has my DIY side spinning my friend, good shit.
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL I remove when you used to be the man who didn’t play by the rules. Well at least one wheel gimbal through there with a 600mm on the camera. I will keep an eye on the Local news for you! 😂
As a dad of a 10 year old, cherish those moments with your child. They are fleeting. Besides, your children will appreciate seeing how their Dad incorporated and spent time with them in years to come.
The concept is absolutely there. I can see a long conversation scene where this could make for high drama. I think an eye hook at both far ends on top of the pole and a cable that runs back to the very top above the motor (like a suspension bridge) would help with stability. Set it all up on the ground or hang it on something waist high as far as length and how tight the cable needs to be and just hang the whole set up on the horizontal cable when you got it all set up. JMHO
YOu ar enot just posting a video to the TH-cam, you are just an amazing researcher and most practical man in cinema life ..Appriciate your efforts and time man,Love from INDIA
I enjoyed this, but I REALLY enjoyed the Father/Son moment you showed. My dream still, to work at home or around my family more so I can have those moments often. Thank you sir!
Yup. Amazing . I love my orbit. It became my main use for product videography. Scenes and car shots. I love it. And yup ... I ll be finally able to meet my idol at the NAB ;) looking forward to see u there.
The moment I was scared you might reached the limit of the Orbit, you introduced the extension. This is the most excited I have been, watching a video in a while. Love your work and personality 🙌🏽 Best from Berlin
Great demonstration and a really interesting tool, thank you for sharing it. (The look on your dogs face in that last shot! I'd be checking your shoes before you put them on for a while...)
very cool setup, thanks for sharing! and yes, if your son expresses interest in you and your work that is always the time to stop work for a few moments and ask him what he's thinking and tell him what you're thinking, 100%
Yes catadioptrics were never designed for bokeh. In astronomy we use the out of focus star that forms the secondary mirror shadow donut to assist in collimation of the optics.
maybe threading the slackline through a long piece of speedrail itself, then using that threaded speedrail as your mounting point might add in some extra stability at the mounting point for your motor?
Hi, suggestion to use aluminum extrusions as support and springs for counterbalance in a mechanical system. Aluminum extrusions have a high strength-to-weight ratio and are easy to manufacture and assemble, which can improve performance and manufacturing efficiency. Additionally, using springs for counterbalance can provide a constant force over a range of motion, which can offset the weight of moving parts or provide smooth and controlled movement. When considering these materials and components, it is important to analyze the specific requirements of the application to ensure optimal performance and safety, as well as the overall cost-effectiveness of the design.
I loved this, but once you started extending the rod, one quote came to mind...: “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.” LOL! Thumbs up and Subscribed!
I've been doing 360 Photobooth for a year now. Other than my manufactured ones, I made one out of a repurposed ceiling fan and 1" x10ft aluminum square sticks from home depot.
45lbs payload? Hell yeah this will even take an Alexa with a Cooke anamorphic! I want it! Also an idea: Put a Zoom on and have the AC push in during the rotation!
I really like that you seem to be able to read my mind and try the stuff I would be trying if I had one of these. I think the next step is to use some kind of aluminum track for the camera and counterweight, triangle the top of course, then add another motor in the middle, center of gravity, and use that to pull them closer together, smaller radius, or out, larger radius while spinning. A pulley on each end of the track and just coil the pull cable in the direction you need to go. Looking forward to the warehouse shots. Keep doing what you do, this is great stuff.
Always pushing the limits !! I would have love to see the final setup with a different lens, wouldn’t have to be that tight… or maybe using the FX3 in super 35 mode

not working
14:26 Mount it on a car! That will be a Sick shot!
that's what I was thinking if it would work at that scale, like say a car out on the salt flats with this thing swinging around it.

It's insane to have such a stability with this kind of setup (I mean seriously? A slackline?!). My mind is blown.
Same. I honestly thought it wouldn't work.
