I've created the stupidest bot you can imagine to see if random inputs is better than Luigi doing nothing in Mario Party Superstars.

some of those 2v2 wins were FRAUDULENT. putting a normal human against a MALE GORILLA in a pizza-eating contest is clearly rigging the system. AND in that lava jump over the skewer minigame, they BOTH failed on the first jump attempt, which should really have been a tie, but then we again put the agility of a human against a gorilla. add both of those things with donkey kong WILLINGLY jumping into the hole in Pogo a Go Go, and we have an APE-SIZED CONSPIRACY on our hands!
Randy was DK's muse and inspired him to win those games

DK was looking for the bonus barrel in that hole, that one is all his own fault, he should have remembered that's NOT how you get bonus stars in a Mario Party

I’m sure this has been said before, but for the team minigames (1v3 and 2v2) I feel like the whole team should have consisted of doing nothing / random inputs instead of having CPUs carry them

I dunno, I think it's fair. The CPU are equal in skill/AI, and both teams have one who is doing nothing or randomness. It's an equal test. You could do a different test of 'what if the whole team does nothing' or 'what if a whole team does random things' but that's a different test than just one person.
j0rts sounds like a kindergarten teacher trying to do activities with Randy and Luigi but is slightly annoyed with their lack of skill and i am so here for it

if you're going to shorten "donkey kong" just call him "kong" because i don't think "donkey" sounds right on its own, since donkey kong is a gorilla lol

Since randy has a nickname, and luigi doesn't, I'm guessing randy is technically the player according to the system, so it's rubberbanding his teammate to win-

Well, all the inputs that randy can do are all you need to play every minigame

Sounds like the best strat is to just press A every once in a while. Should follow this up with "Wario wins Mario Party by randomly pressing A"

This video made me realise that there are like, 15 minigames in MP Superstars that I have just never encountered during gameplay. IDK if I'm unlucky or what.

I mean, despite of fhe final results, I think Luigi's strategy had better results if you also factor in the effort they both gave.

randy is just me and my friend as kids playing mario party 8’s “king of the thrill” over and over again just to jump off the platform because it was funny lol (and because we liked to be on opposite teams and force the remaining AI players to fight each other lol)
For some reason, Randy being Waluigi just fits and I find it funny

We are going to have full-formed personalities for the characters at some point

Waluigi: Does... something, that's for sure.

Gotta love how Randy always goes against the rules.
This video has learnt us one thing. If a minigame has a ledge, Randy WILL try to walk off it.

seems like a fun programming challenge to try and create some system of weighted randomness that can beat randy.

I would like randy to have gotten a point for getting further in the chomp hide and seek one, even though he didn't finish. You still count other mini games where one of them dies slightly sooner than the other, or does more of it even if they don't finish. just need to point that out. Give Waluigi the point!
i know you can't control it but the ice hockey one in 2v2; the placement of luigi front and waluigi back makes a difference, have them both be goalie or both be forward.
Of course Randy is Waluigi in a video where he is rivaling Luigi XD

Two problems:
1. Not enough rounds per game to be statistically significant (i.e. not sufficient data)
2. The fast that the random bot cannot input multiple buttons even though it would be perfectly possible for a player.

An idea for Randy: He can still do random inputs, but you can encourage him. You could implement speech-to-text to enable his next moves to be influenced by your actual voice!
