  • Hi guys. On this episode I'll be making some sheet dried shrimp food . Really healthy for your shrimp packed with all the things they need to stay in top condition . Go back to my shrimp lollies and shrimp matches videos they will show you how i made the paste and what ingredients I used . A great all round food and super cheap to make.

    Love it! Cruising through all the older vids...
    Couple of hints when you're in the kitchen next time...
    1) Roll the dough out between 2 pieces of plastic wrap. No more sticking to the pin or board.
    2) Slip a rubber O-ring over each end of the pin to get a consistent thickness. Gage the thickness by the thickness of the O-rings.
    3) Use a "pasta" cutter to form strips and/or chips. I have a little handheld one.

    Made the mix for my guppy, betta and Molly tanks but I found that if you place the dough between two sheets of plastic wrap, you can flatten it without having to worry about it sticking and then score it with a dull knife before removing the top cover, then place it out to dry with just the top sheet of plastic off. I did cheat and add in some "Tetra color" food mix :P

    Hi Mark. Excuse me for asking you an unrelated question. Actually I am finding it very difficult to find black gravel where I live something like black diamond grit. Instead we have here Alumina (Aluminium Oxide) which looks-wise is similar and is also used as blasting grit. Sadly I could not get much info online whether I could safely use it as gravel for planted aquarium or for the shrimp tank. Have you any idea? Please note I just tested pH of the water I put Alumina into a couple of weeks back if any the pH is dropped a bit. Thanks.

      Aluminium Oxide is used in saltwater tanks for phosphate removal .personally i wouldn't use it. Have you got a beach or a river close to you Where you could get some sand or gravel?

    • @ineerajbatra
      @ineerajbatra 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the river sand and gravel which is abundantly available, but I very much fancy black gravel - like dark black. Ones we get are either silver sand or light-brown. Brown is really good as we get it in 1.5mm size, and which is what I use. But thanks for your feedback on Alumina, wont use it.

    I don't get how you are sooooo successful breed ing shrimp. I have a 5 gal. with 1 Plecko and nothing else buy yellow shrimp. I can never see any more than a couple shrimp at one time.
    My other tank is a 15 and it has blue velvets and a couple of the chinese algae eaters. This one has more shrimp than the 5 gal with the yellows. I don't have any idea what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?.

    Have you ever feed them Goutweed? We have lots of that in The Netherlands so I was wondering if they could eat that too. Please let me know.

    • @MARKSAQUATICS
      @MARKSAQUATICS  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Yes. We call it ground elder. Gout weed is fine to feed to your shrimps, just soften it with boiling water . Make sure it is gout weed and not WATER HEMLOCK.They look very alike , That is poisonous ok. 👍😀
