    Hi my name is Mark and I have helped thousands of people learn how to keep and breed shrimp over the years, I help aquarists go from killing shrimp to tanks busting full of shrimplets. 🦐✨
    Disclosure: Marks Shrimp Tanks is an affiliate of Aquaristik Shop and Send Owl, the book publisher. Mark earns a small commission fee for each sale, and all of the money goes back into shrimp keeping. Just don't tell his wife.

    My advice is; use up all the dough guys!!! No matter how tedious it is!!! :)
    I made a big ball of dough from all kinds of mashed omnivorous and carnivorous fish flakes and spirulina powder, and a little tank water. I rolled it to a thin string, cut it up and let the cuttings air-dry over night.
    Great stuff! They jump on it like crazy!
    Yet I got so much from half of it already, so I stored the leftover dough in a airtight bag. Which I shouldn't have done since it moulded away...... Nyèèèhh!!!!

    I recently made a similar recipe called something like aquatic snail cookies, some of the same ingredients, but more and the mixture was more gloopy. You bake it, cut it up and store it in the freezer. This consistency seems better. When I have more ingredients I'm going to try again, using this method, basically make pastry with ingredients your pets like. Right now I'm feeding snails, shrimp and isopods, it's funny, they all kind of eat the same stuff.

Using the food dehydrator instead of an oven really allowed me to make this food fast. Interestingly when the food comes out it is dark green but once you place it in the tank (glass dish), it becomes bright green and slowly dissolves and the shrimp love it. I will add powdered leaves, and spirulina in my next batch. Thanks again. Great video!

    I don't know if this would work for shrimp but decades ago I would raise and sell hundreds of cichlids each year. I needed a fish food that I could feed to the smallest fry and up to the largest fish I owned (an eight pound black pacu). I'd pull out my old blender, cut up a small carrot and toss it into the blender with a couple of tablespoons of water and liquefy it. Then I'd add a small can of spinach, four oz of beef liver, three or four medium sized shelled shrimp and finally a dozen eggs. Then I'd run the blender until I got what looked like a green milkshake. Next I'd put a large non stick skillet on the range and on low heat I'd jell the green liquid into what looked like green scrambled eggs. Stirring and being careful to not get it too hot until it had jelled up pretty firmly. Next it got spread out on a baking tray on parchment paper spreading it as thin as I could. Then it went into the freezer for only long enough to set it firmly. At that point I'd take it out and cut it into squares, put into a zip lock bag and freeze completely. I'd break off a piece and holding it in between two fingers press it and it would dissolve and break apart. You could leave it as large chunks for bigger fish down to what looked like dust for smaller fish. I never found any type of fish or other tank inhabitant that didn't eat it readily. The pacu never ate anything else over the years. Fish are very high in protein and prefer a diet high in protein but even fish that lived on plants readily ate it and I imagine so would freshwater shrimp. I may give it a try in the future. I'm in the process of setting up a planted tank for shrimp at the moment.

    Hellow would it make a difference If it boiled and blended the spinach instead of making it into a powder ?

    hi Mark, I intend to have a small shrimp tank combined with daphnia and maybe some snails. would the spinach powder make green water necessary for daphnia? or some green algae from a spring cliff would do? or maybe use spirulina instead of spinach?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes I think that would all work as a food source for daphnia, I goldfish farmer once told me how he made his green water, he peed in the tank lol.. it worked he had tons of daphnia for goldfish food.

    HIYA! What other kinds of flour can you use? Odd question, but do any gluten free flours such as almond work? I prefer to avoid giving my fish filler grains if possible. If not it's fine because your fish look great but if I can give this food to my algae eaters as a treat as well, they'd be over the moon!
