I'll never forget that brief moment when "Last Battle?" stops playing, and, for a few scant seconds, there is silence. Then the chalice pours the yellow liquid on the statue of Mother's face. It breaks open, Mother appears, "Good Night Mom" kicks in, and I'm like "Shit just got real son!!!"
From all the games I've played and/or watched, I consider this to be the 2nd best final battle theme. ("Dancing Mad" from Final Fantasy VI has the number 1 spot)
A lot of games do this. For example, the Persona 3 final boss theme is a battle remix of the Velvet Room [very relaxing theme, almost a hub you cna access everywhere] theme.
I always felt bad when Mother crawls over to you reaching out for you before she died. She wasn't pure evil, her control just got out of hand. All she wanted was to put La-Mulana in its rightfully place in the heavens. Unfortunately she had to be put out of her misery.
@@ChristianCTaken La-Mulana 2 makes the case in defense of the Mother much stronger when you take into consideration the interference from the Anunnaki and the twisting of history. Sadly by that point it is far too late. I suspect the Mother never did want to return to space as was claimed.
I love how this is basically a battle remix of Mr.Explorer
After eight whole eternities, the conclusion is that there is no way to grant the mother's wish.

Reminds me a lot of the Abyssal God's transition from Scatter About to Calling that Detestable Name.

For me, this version better than the remake.
I will never be able to say "good night" to my mother again without a weapon.
"Good night mom"
*Pulls out pistol*
Best part: The echo of the fanfare you get the first time you enter the ruins.
this is probably the best final boss theme ever made.
I still give that nod to "Dancing Mad" (final battle in Final Fantasy VI), but this is a very close 2nd.

I love how hilariously wrong the remake made this interpretation (I realize I'm commenting this years later)

I do love the title of this track.
Ah, I was forgetting some of the details. Thanks for clearing it up.
@BaronOfBacon You're staring at God's soul given form and you're about to face her down in a 1v1. I don't think shit gets any more real than that.
founded by an epic group of epic people
@IYellalot Yeah. And, I feel that the intro part to it sounds like the one-shot intro of 'Fearless Challenger'

BEAST MODE ENGAGED
man, the only thing that kinda ruined this song for me was the fact that you "whipped your own mother" other than that it was all badassery
@GlobalNexus Made by an epic indie developer.

I think the remake song is better than the original in this song's case :)
