Had goosebumps at the beginning of the video seeing you take her out for the first time. "It was a dream and then, somehow, the dream became real." Looks like good health, sound mind & fulfillment have found a place to thrive. Truly inspiring to all of us Alan.
Thank you for sharing your excursion down the coast. Can’t wait to do it myself. I like the analogy of maintaining a small city. Your wife has a good deco eye. Owning a boat definitely has its ups and downs new or old. You’re doing great!
I really enjoy your videos. You are an inspiration to me. I’m a 59 year old firefighter who captained a 44’ power cat in BVI (for the first time) in 2021 with 4 of our best friends. It was the best vacation of my life (and we travel a lot). We are planning another trip to BVI in 2023 for 2 weeks instead of just one. While I don’t have a clear path to buying a 54’ boat like yours, it’s not entirely out of reach. You may very well be my retirement inspiration .
Yeah BUDDY! You've done it again! Thanks for the vids that never cease to inspire and encourage. It really IS possible. Oh yeah, thanks for the testimony and your call to action about your health episode. To GOD be the glory! And your thanks to HIM for all you're able to injoy after watching it manifest right before your eyes. Gotta love those passages and all that's involved with boating and long journeys. The chart plotting and preparation, etc. That's the cool part. One day for me. I'm encouraged. My eyes are set on a 2018 Regal 53 SC with low hours on the engines and gen. My price point. As always, traveling grace and mercies to you and the family. Thanks again. Your TH-cam brother from another mother and the same FATHER. Blessins... Luke 1:37!
What a beautiful message and yes to God be the Glory. He blesses us in amazing ways beyond what we can imagine! Hope you can make your dream happen Brother!
Alan, there just aren’t words to describe how happy we are for you! From the moment you decided to become a Captain to this! Very impressive! And, WH, she is so beautiful! The drone footage is perfect! We can’t wait to follow your travels😎🥳♥️
I lived in Palm Beach County as a kid but, IMO, SW Florida from Tampa on down to the Keys is some of the most beautiful coast / cruising ground in the world. Stunning water and nature. Simply gorgeous. I have also spent more evenings than I can remember at The Kevin Barry on River Street, Savannah. One of the best cities on the East Coast.
This is my first visit to your channel. Your new Aquila is outstanding! She is at the top of my 3 favorite boats list. I would like to say how wonderful my first impression is of your channel. The great drone shots and top notch footage, the editing, to the general content all are well done and blends together seamlessly. Im certainly looking forward to seeing much more of your boat and owner perspectives. Great Job!
Great recap of your run Alan. So amazing what drones have enabled vlog's to capture. I'm 58 and need to get back healthy again too, thanks for the inspiration. Calm waters and tight lines wishes to you.
One thing I did for my parents who also are big into working out every day, especially when they are at their lake house. I got them a concept 2 bike erg. Small, compact, and amazing tool to have available when no gym is near. (Storage could be an issue, but seems like you could find somewhere to put it) Amazing what you can do with one of those and a couple dumbbells. Keep up the great work.
Loved seeing you all enjoying the trip. I hope you got the minor issues fixed and enjoy many years of fun aboard. Great to see you running up the fly bridge 🏃♂️
CONGRATS on a successful maiden voyage! Great job keeping up with the fitness while under way! Thanks for bringing us along. Oh and I second Erik Thompson's remarks below.
I could have watched this for hours! So happy your dream has come true for you! Doing just this is my dream too, but for now I’ll just have to watch your videos from the sidelines. Thank you, Alan.⚓️
Caught all your charter related videos, it’s awesome to see you’ve pulled the trigger on getting your own boat and making a dream into a reality. Keep the videos coming, watching them over in the UK.
Since I don't know I have to ask: Doesn't Aquila offer the same "Turn Key" service as I've seen that for example Horizon does? You know, all exept food (and booze?) ready in the yacht when you take ownership...
well 2 things. on this trip we hauled ass cause my captain had to be there in 5 days. so we cruised at 3200rpm...about 17 knots and consumed about 35 gallons an hour. very expensive. since then, I cruise around 2200rpm which only consumes around 14 gallons an hour. hope that helps. thanks for watching.

Glad you liked St Augustine. It’s a great little town.
Y’all need to come to the Chesapeake Bay for hurricane season… you’ll love it !

You were right in my backyard in St Augustine, that was a great video. I'll be chartering the bvi next week, thanks for all the help.
great stuff! I have had my eye on this vessel for a while. Yours is the first I have seen with the indoor stairwell. I love it!
Passed by my house @11:30 ICW Flagler Bch. Great video...fun to watch!
That HAS to be cool to notice that. WOW

Love these videos keep them coming, being an Aussie I really enjoy seeing these beautiful US places you visit. Love the boat as well.
Glad you like them!
It’s yachting… not cruising, in AC style. So happy for you! One question, how’d you keep your hat on when on the 40hp tender?
So happy for you guys!
You are living my dream
Thanks!!!!!
Love the videos! Excellent! Curious if you have or need a seakeeper or other device?
I don't. Never heard of one on a Cat. Don’t plan on being in that rough of seas tho
Love the videos, where can I get some wondering hillbilly sun shirts?
Would you recommend doing the same trip on the 70' cat
Love it

Hello , just discovered your vlog . I’m curious , how is the crane system on the 54 ? Is it as easy to use as Aquila says it is ?
We are trying to decided between a Powercat or SailCat - what was your cruising speed & fuel consumption like on this trip ?

Is there a time when you wished you had the70 Aquila
Never. Too big and I would need to hire help. Thanks for watching!!
How many people do you need to be deck hand able to help you when your piloting this type of a ship?
There is a hillbilly of Beverly Hills and another hillbilly of Georgia. LOL!
How much fuel did you burn on this trip? Great video!
Remember, it's a tender not a dinghy at your size. What size tender is it, 3.7?
14 feet. 40 horse
Wonderful!@@thewanderinghillbilly
