Thanks for the info on GA legislation regarding anchoring. It has been many years since I anchored in GA, and perhaps this issue is already settled, but responsible cruiser transit should not be penalized by negligent boaters as with any other public lands/waters/seaways/trails/streets/etc.. Safe pasage and calm waters!
Another intetesting video! Yes, dockage can be expensive for boaters like you. We once went down the St. Johns River between VA and Key West. Great excursion! Very interesting to see you starting from Sanford, FL. When I went through the Brunswick area the aroma from the local paper manufacturing was pretty strong. Remember launching our trailerable cruiser from the Fernandina ICW area about 20 years ago. Waterway confluence in that area is a bit complicated. Your experience brings back many memories!
My wife and I would LOVE this type of town. We don't want a night life, we want a morning life - up early, out doing, early cocktails, early bed - (9pm) repeat!
Right on My doorstep.... U forgot to mention Jekyll Island... . ST. Simon's, Sea Island etc. Glad you liked the Torres Marina. They have good staff to try and keep the guests happy... Most however bring their boats for insurance and leave..lol... . Love the "Bonefish" Cat there.. almost would capt. that thing for free...
When you get a chance can you go over the new solar system you guys installed. I know you were talking about it in previous video, but I would love to see the final outcome the update on the power it's putting out and any recommendations you have.
Brunswick is a working town, so it can't afford to be "party central", like every other place on every coast. Some of its old buildings appear not to be trendy restaurants, bars, galleries, boutiques, or former working spaces repurposed into trendy shopping malls. I kind of like that about it. A little actual history, and some room for reflecting. My dad lived in Brunswick when he was a boy, almost 100 years ago. He loved Brunswick, Savannah, Charleston, but not Waycross, so much! His favorite place was Florida, but he didn't enjoy Jacksonville, the only place in Florida he lived in as a child, although he loved St Augustine and Fernandina Beach. He didn't like Jacksonville because it was too much like a northern, industrial city (like Nashville and Birmingham, the only northern industrial cities he'd ever seen in person!) I have still to go to Brunswick, Charleston, and Fernandina, but hope to soon. I do not hope to watch _Lucifer,_ though!
@@Technomadia Jekyll was awesome before they built the convention center. Definitely a touristy destination now. Too bad your a couple months behind filming. I would have asked to meet you so my wife and I could see a glimpse of the cruiser life while you were in Savannah.
Lived in Savannah all my life. Heavily fish the GA coast. For night life in Brunswick, head to St Simons peer village. The helicopters are looking for red necks breaking shrimping regulations. They got a friend of mine recently. The flies are susu flies. They hang around a horses behind. I’m not saying your a horses behind.....but you can’t fool those susu flies!! Lol. J/K. Yep, they hurt. Lots of sand bars in GA with lots of shallows is why most boats go offshore from Charleston to St Augustine. All those expansive marshes of spartina grass, oyster beds, and small creeks behind our jewel out islands create a estuary which is fishing heaven and we are blessed to have it.
Thanks for the video. I think I would have had to jump in and swim with the dolphin. I bet they did not know you had a drone watching. They might not have pulled that stunt.
As you were in Brunswich, did you notice the paper mills smells? We were at Jeckll Island many years ago and smell was not good at certain times. Thank you for sharing your adventures!
The uncomfortable feeling I got when seeing all the people in close proximity during the dinghy drift confirms my antisocial tendencies. 🙂 Thanks for the videos!
Keep up the good work. I can only imagine what it feels like to be in the middle of no where in a big ass boat, lol. When you leave your boat anchored in the middle of no where, have ya'll had any issues with anyone messing with it?
The lowlands are a pretty amazing place to visit. I understand about the anchorage rule and a State that supports tourism seems to be missing the point. They seem to be saying stay away and spend your money some place else. Happy sailing.
Thanks.. our arrival to Savannah in this video was actually back in early June :). Our videos are out of sync with real time as they take so much effort to create.
The anchoring laws might be a huge influence on my planned fall trip. Now I'm tempted to skip the state entirely. Thanks for the heads up! If they don't want my business that's fine with me.
Next time you find the green head flies (and you will in NJ for sure) get a wide mouth plastic cup filled with soapy water. Then as the fly lands on the under side of your bimini quickly bring the cup up to the roof. The rim of the cup should seal in the fly as it tries to fly away. And they instantly drown. You only have to be a quick as when you swat to kill them. But this time you don’t have to pick up all the dead flies. It works well but don’t use a cup you are used to drinking from. You might pick it up, thinking it’s your beverage and instead are greeted with a BUNCH of floating dead flies. 🤢
All of us drone pilots are fully expected to keep under our 400' maximum altitude . Here in the northwest (WA) I find many private planes dropping way below their 500' minimum . News helicopters seem to be the worst . Happy sailing .
Well I think you found out the Georgia is nothing more than a swamp. The green heads are vicious and are only going to get worse the further north you get. I have Traverse the icw numerous times and try to avoid Georgia in this spring and summer. The bugs are overwhelming.
Cherie, thanks for the excellent recap of the GA Anchoring law and impending rules and especially thanks for the plug for Save Georgia's Anchorages. I'll include a link to the Facebook group below. The new law uses illegal sewage disposal as a justification to enforce all the new anchoring restrictions, rather than just better enforce the existing law.
Love your videos but this one seems out of sorts. I would assume you would research where you want to stop and explore. If Brunswick is not your type of location than why stop and dis the town? Same with your assessment of the military helicopter, they frequently use that area for training, patrols. They have no idea who you are or what you're doing there. A few minutes of annoyance helps ensures your freedom.
Your comment makes no sense.. did you actually watch and pay attention to the video? Us saying Brunswick is a sleepy town in no way means we didn't enjoy the stop (we said we DID enjoy the stop overall - and got a lot accomplished). Did you miss the parts about the MTOA rendezvous? The marina life? The Travato? The local friends? And who said we were annoyed with the helicopter?? It was thrilling! And it's a popular known anchorage to wait out Hell Gate, they see boats there all the time.

Most of the activity happens out on Saint Simons Island. It is good to see that Brunswick is slowly coming back to life.
St. Simon's is like another country compared to the rest of Georgia.
Cake, Going the distance! Old school. Doing good. Nice video
I (Chris) have been a Cake fan since way back. Saw them live several times in San Francisco. 😎
You guys have the best life! I love following your adventures and dreaming of being there myself.
Ok - I used to live in Saint Simons Island - that place is hopping. Then you can go to Jeckyll Island. Quite close to Brunswick!
Enjoy your videos!!!
We did visit both... they had much more a touristy feel.

If you can get Why-Not to the Pacific Northwest, you two would LOVE the San Juan Islands!
I'm sure we would... but it would likely have to be a different boat. Getting Y-Not there would be quite the challenge.
Lots of 4588 and 4788 out here.
Great video another place we need to visit!!
Another great video! Thanks guys!

Love that you two are switching off wearing the purple Zen T-shirt. Thank you for sharing with us.

@@Technomadia It's beautiful.
What comprises the bimini with the solar collectors? I like it.
We're working on our next video now - which will be a tour of the electrical system.
I like your Delos shirt. It is nice to see you guys supporting one another.
Doubt they even know who we are.. but we sure enjoy their journey!
If I ever saw a Mobile & Connected shirt in a Delos video I would do a flip!

Love the Delos T shirt. The same one I have. Lol.
I also noticed it and was going to comment - thumbs up
Did you spend some time on Jekyll Island? We loved it. So much history.
Yeah.. we spent an afternoon over there. Too touristy for our tastes.

I think I misread this. Saw the free beer and thought "getting buzzed while exploring Georgia"
When you live in a small space, everything needs to be dual purpose :). I think we pulled off 4-purpose with this one ...
The PBR so awful they can't give it away.
I enjoy your videos so much. Have a great weekend

where is the best place to get anchorage/marina review info? Active Capt?
We use a combo of Active Captain and Waterway Guide
Chris I have the same Delos T Shirt. Can I buy one of yours.
Why would you want to buy Chris' Delos shirt if you already have one?
@@Technomadia no silly a Technomadia T shirt.

You are near a US Navy Sub base also.
The sub base was actually a good 120 miles south of this location.

We actually only had them for a couple nights. No bugs for the rest of the way north so far.
Haha. It was a Blackhawk helicopter doing Nap of the Earth NOE training. Don’t think they meant to scare you and shouldn’t have gotten to close.
It was more exciting than scary overall - and we were hoping they would come back and do it again once we were more braced for it.
All of the German cars come into the U.S. through Brunswick. BMW, Mercedes, VW
Actually.. they go OUT (made in the US). BWM also comes out of Charleston.. we were just docked next to their loading facility :)
My mother's family is from Savannah. Love the city.
Bummer that bad cruisers are ruining it for everyone else. Hope it doesn't become a trend.
"Getting Buzzed While Exploring Georgia's Coastline" - It's best not to drink too much while operating a boat.
This video is about being buzzed by ferocious biting flies, a military helicopter, and a small plane. Where on earth did drinking come into it?

Beautiful video, love the dolphins! Hate the polititians
It's been against the law in Georgia since 1992 to discharge sewage in Coastal Waters.
It's been against federal law for even longer.
The new law uses illegal sewage disposal as a justification to enforce all the new anchoring restrictions, rather than just better enforce the existing law.
