Just found your channel…a few days too late. You anchored right by my house near Thunderbolt. Would’ve loved to have bought you some beers. Hope you weathered the hurricane well.
Captain Michael, love the channel and your perseverance in achieving your sailing goals! As a sailor myself with many thousands of sea miles under my keel, it has been my experience that ‘the rougher looking the boat - the better the skipper at the helm’ and that is so true with you and EV - sail on….
The bulk of the negative commenters most likely don't have a boat or do what you do. Listen to their comments, but don't take them to heart. I have found in my life, most people won't take the risk and have to hate on those that are willing to take the risk. Happy sailing
I really hope your channel picks up sooner than later. You're just so fun to watch, more people should know about it! Also just decided to support your patreon so hopefully that will help you create more great videos. Thank you brother
I saw that!! Thanks for your support. Some very very interesting things happen in future episodes. Tropical storm in Charlston.. going thru the inside off hataras. Lots more content coming!!
So happy to hear you finally recognize and vocalize and quantify the fact that you made a shitty decision four years ago to leave before you’re very prepared. Question is do you take that knowledge and apply it to your life moving forward , because of this point you have repeated the same mistakes over and over again I think you should do a whole video on mistakes you’ve made and don’t want other people to do
Oil change transmition oil change, new fuel filters put in some injector cleaner. Let her run for 1 hour.. One of my favorite things is to take care of a good yanmar engine!!
Very awesome and inspiring the intro! Well made me get back to work on my boat ! When I sailed to FL stopped in Savanna and docked free by downtown overnight steps away from everything! Need to untie these lines very soon and be free again! Sail on brother !
Great that you can make do on a low budget, some cruisers have to completely quit due to lack of funds due to extensive repairs on older boats. Anyway you can reduce the volume of just the rim snap/tap of music? Really glad you got to experience some of the Bahamas after several tries.
Hey Capt. Mike. As stop-gap for your inflatable, they sell a stop leak sealant for them for about $50. I was very skeptical to use it but I have a 22 year old Carine that would hold air for about 4 hours before needing pumping and I thought I would experiment. I am going on year 2 with only pumping it once a week. So far I am impressed.
Everything is 20/20 in hind sight. Forget it. Im just some broke ass TH-camr from Canada.. You happened to click this video.. If Im ever here again Ill look you up.. in fact Ill be back here in November on another Yatch. Leave me your details..
Hi Mike, I enjoy watching your videos and will sign up on Patreon to help you out. I’ve got a Sabre 36 that I am getting ready to point south next September. What kind of a budget are you operating on? I’m trying to figure out the finances on living aboard.
captain michael in a world of wars and fighting if it were to spill our way you have a huge advantage over the rest of us, if you keep ev stuffed with provisions at all times, do not let cubbard get empty, 12 month supply minimum
Fix your tender with expanding foam. It's lightweight, floats, and you'll never worry about seams opening up. Poke a small hole to insert the tube into a chamber and fill it up.
I like your video, At forty seven years old , i've debating rid of everything and Getting a sailboat and just going😂 But I. 've never Been on one and would definitely like to go on a little trip first. And that's a big step also trading Your house for a boat😂
Your in your BS years (before sailing) best decision I ever made was trading out my life on land...When I go on land it scares me. People concearned about stupid problems. Life is simpler out here. One coffee in the cockpit at sunrise and I was hooked. Now Im on my way to being an old salt!!
Cheers!!! Thank you! Means everything to me! And great timing! These wwll needed funds will go a long way to helping me with diesel and food so I can stay in front ofvthe key board and upliad content. Very much appreciated!!!!
For your pump failure, in a pinch, bypass the pressure switch. You won't have "on demand" water, but you can turn on the water, do dishes, then turn it off again, etc. 95% of water system pump failures are pressure switches. Which pump did you get? West Marine's cheapest 3.0 gpm pump is $157.99. You could buy three of ours for that price, and still have $5.00 left over for that McDonald's special and have a 4 year warranty! Or, I would have just given you one in Bimini when we met there if I knew you needed one.
That is a good question. They close on the 15th. You must be inside the canal by then or no chance.. I have big plans. You will have to stay tuned to find out!!
Think I anchored just about on that spot and got hook caught on a sunken something, after several tries I passed over anchor and was able to free from other direction.
Maybe old wooden sailing ships sunk over the years? This is an old place.. Pretty much the only place I could find to drop my hook safely.. Thanks for commenting mate!!
21:20 there's another dock up that little waterway on the right. I was right there last month. Even went to that West Marine an got another life jacket. There was a hurricane off shore an i went to play around in the surf on Tabee Island. My normal life jack is a water activated inflatable, so I needed a foam core to play in the surf with.
do not hold off and wait untill your flush with cash, work your whole life amabe have a stroke early on, now you have your boat and your vision is trashed, ask me how i know, get out there as soon as you can,
I guess I could try. Im an established unionised member of IATSE 667. So to start again here would be tough. I can make good money quick in Canada. I may work for a year while fixing this boat as content for the channel then sell her and get into a bigger vessel.. Then circumnavigate and do YT full time.. maybe. We will see.
If I had the money I'd pay you to teach me to sail to Bimini and back. Do something about your flag before I sneak up from the deep blue and replace it for you. I'm gonna buy a new Canadian flag when I buy my new US flag. I'll be looking for you buddy. Peace out and sail easy
use your fuel like its the last you will ever have, sail if you must move, starting the diesel only when absolutly nesessary, can you do this? america is a mess being over run, global invation, political leader ship is a train wreck ready to happen, what do you think act accordingly? have ev ready to run at all times bolster you security anyway you can, how much rum have you got stashed?
Don’t wait til you have enough money! Do it now! I’m 67 and never did anything but work like a dog for my kids and family! Now my health is not good so I waited too long! Jump on in and just do it! Don’t die with regrets! Its unbearable! Good luck!

I love Savannah and your channel. They're definitely friendly there and you can leave the bar with a beer in hand.

Do what you can - with what you have - right where you are. Keep sailing, and don't listen to those naysayers.
