Kit, I do not have schizoaffective disorder. So, I can only imagine what that is like.
However, as someone who struggles with mental health on the daily (in a different way) with debilitating ADHD, OCD, CPTSD, and GAD, you inspire me so much!! I am grateful for you and your channel. The way in which you fiercely advocate for yourself, your own mental health, and the mental health community as a whole inspires me to unapologetically advocate for myself and my own mental health too! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I have schizoaffective as well. Chronic depression and anxiety. I find your content extremely helpful.
I am treatment resistant and have tried many different anti depressants.
Always keep hope that you can get through your conditions.

You've probably heard about it, or at least your doctors know it, but I just wanted to give you the information that stimulants for adhd (like Ritalin) can help towards treatment resistent depression. I have bipolar disorder where 90% of my life has been depression, no anti-dep helped. I then got diagnosed with ADD and my Ritalin didn't only help my adhd-symptoms, but also my depression. It was so amazing! And I had been ill for over 15 years, so finding the right medication can really do wonders.
Just putting it out there in case you didn't know. Take care!

Hey kit. I don't know if you remember me, I was the person who wrote a few massive manic comments on some of your videos a few months ago. I got very psychotic during that manic episode and then I crashed into a deep depressive episode. I want you to know that it gets better. I very recently recovered from that depressive episode and it was terrible, but it did get better. You have our love and support kit, we are here for you! Keep fighting! We are all so grateful for you and your videos.

We are all rooting for you kit. I was diagnosed with ocd yesterday evening at my additional specialist EDMR therapy consultation for my anxiety. I feel like I don’t know which disorder is worse. The symptoms are so depressing. Turns out I’ve had this my entire life including childhood. I’m glad our disorders have names and that our communities are getting less stigmatized. We’re not crazy , we are just chronically ill. Just like a diabetic needs insulin and to eat well . We need meds and mental health breaks. TKe care of yourself. We miss u but we’re glad you are looking out for yourself. And send a quick prayer out for me in deciding to try Prozac vrs duloxatine .

@@SchizoKitzo I was a chem major, graduated 2017. The last two years of school were a roller coaster through h e double hockey sticks. I've had a few psychiatrists, therapists and hospital stays since 2018. Near the end of 2019 I received a schizoaffective disorder diagnosis, bipolar type. Stuff sucks a lot and frequently. I have anxiety and a ptsd disgnosis, just a lot of tough days. I found your channel yesterday when I looked up lamotrigine, my psychiatrist mentioned it for a med change the other day. Thanks for sharing, hope your days a little brighter than when you made this video.

I have bipolar I. I had a mental breakdown about five years ago, three hellish years. That may sound discouraging, but also encouraging in that people can get through long periods of adversity. Recently I've been trying an anti-inflammatory diet in addition to my prescribed medications (arguably hypomania and depression are inflammation of the brain), of turmeric and black pepper, and omega 3 supplements, and it seems to be helping.

It really is amazing! She paints hope onto my computer screen. It takes forever to wipe off and LG doesn't cover scrubbing bubbles.
I don't take care of myself at all and can't force myself to do anything I normally find fun. Most of my depressions, I can't even get out of my own head, just sit in my room in the dark, watching my screensaver most of the day. I'm a pure introvert, even when I'm in a normal mood, so hanging out with friends is a hard sell.

I know that sometimes the best I can do is keep slogging through. The problem is accepting that. That too is a painful struggle. Reminding myself that others really care helps. Finding the way through is a at once numbingly-frightening and brave. But it's worth it. My best wishes are with you.

Well I'm going through mild depression myself for a while now, so it's pretty much only video games and youtube for me. I have enough work energy to brush teeth once in two days, sometimes I even miss a day. How many times I take a shower or a bath I won't disclose, but you can pretty much guess. So you're much better at that than me. Not to mention that you work a regular job as well. But that's a life I guess, not everyone gets to be a fighter. Wishing you as fast recovery as possible Kit (come to think of it to myself too) :)

Kit, you are a true inspiration for me! This has been half a year into a majoric depression episode, with severe avolition & unhedonia
I struggle so hard to just survive day to day..
I'm in therapy & I take my meds, unfortunately not reacting at all to anti depressionate, I am dysfunctional. I just had 5 days that I couldn't get out of bed at all, and the thing is I don't have any minute that I'm not hurting so bad

This update was really encouraging to see. I'm so glad you sought help and that your doctor found a vitamin for you to try. It was also good to hear about the other things you did to get through this episode. Those lights at the end of the tunnel are so important, and it sounds like you had some great ones (especially the Ren Faire and hot air balloon festival - that footage was really cool!). And I'm glad you were able to do other things like showering, brushing your teeth, eating, sleeping, & going to work.
"I think it's okay to say that life sucks" >> This is so true and such an important reminder. I think society often pressures us to put up a front and pretend life is great all the time. But there are times when it does suck, and we shouldn't be afraid to say so. So thank you for saying it and showing us this honest look at psychotic depression.

    • @SchizoKitzo
      @SchizoKitzo  ปีที่แล้ว

First, thanks for this! Second, yes, society does try to hide behind almost…toxic positivity, and I understand seeing the good in things, I do it all the time, but the bad stuff still happens and we can’t just ignore it. I read a book recently that talked about how suffering is a part of life (it wasn’t a depressing book btw) and it will always happen no matter where you are, and because of that it’s okay to say that it sucks and it’s painful and it’s awful. I’m glad that part of the video resonated with you! And finally, thanks again

I have schizoaffective disorder too. I also have depression. Like you say it's all rolled up in one convenient package. I've been where you are! I know how much it really really sucks! If there's anything I can do just ask! I know for me I have great friends and they helped pull me out of it. So my advice is that if you have a best friend lean on him or her right now. You'd be surprised how much it can help. So like I said if there's anything that I can do just ask!

Depression sucks. I've had severe depression for most of my life. Hang in there, it's good you can still post and go to places ❤ I hope you'll feel better soon.
I also struggle with not eating enough when my depression is bad. It feels pointless to me even though I know I need food to live.

  • @TopHatJester
    @TopHatJester ปีที่แล้ว

You are a fighter. I also have been struggling with the major depressive side of my schizoaffective disorder... My oldest brother got killed in a hit-and-run in LA and it seems like the world is crashing around me and is against me at the same time... That's how I feel.
Anyway, I started following your channel about a year ago now and I'm very impressed with the support and dedication you have put into your work. Most of my projects go unfinished, but I want to share with you this poem I've written a few years back that has helped me...
(Disclaimer: I do believe in God, so hopefully it doesn't come off like I'm preachy).
The title of the poem is, 'God, Are You Listening.'
    Me:
    I'm in pain most days
    Not willing to fight
    Oh, my dear God,
    Are you even listening?
    God:
I know your pain I felt it before
Do not think I am closing the door
I love you, my child you knew this before
So sit down for a moment and I'll tell you what for...
You came into this life knowing it wouldn't be easy
Just like my begotten you are something amazing
I let go of your hand so you may grow
I send you my angels when you're feeling low
Your mission on Earth is to be a good friend
To those in need of a helping mend
Look around, you'll never be alone
Just reach out your hand to someone below
I'll come when your days are nearing their end
You'll gain that crown, surely you'll win
I'll welcome you back home like a welcomed guest
Well done my faithful servant, enter in and rest.
    -Bradley J. Copeland
I hope that this can give you some added assurance and encouragement.
I know you are a beloved daughter of God and He loves you and wants to be in communion.
He knows every tear you have shed, the worries you may have, and cares about the same things you care deeply about.
I don't claim to have all the answers, but God does answer.
He has delivered me from so much and I know that He let go of our hands so we may grow.
We are here to experience life and one day Ms. You will feel a fullness of joy and the greater capacity to feel that because of the lows you have, are, and will face in this life.
Yes, life just sucks sometimes but be reassured that our suffering is for a greater purpose; not to punish us, but to help transform us.
I know this might seem bizarre, but I do believe in Christ and I know He lives and loves you just as much as He loves me.
He has saved me in many more ways than I can truly count; to be completely honest.
I hope what I have shared has been an encouragement and that you may know you are not only deeply loved by us, but by an all-loving and eternal Father.
I have been on my faith journey since I was 6 years old after my father passed away and I know coming to know God through scripture and prayer has helped me to survive.
Keep pressing forward and if you do believe and have that relationship with God, keep praying... He will answer and I've noticed when He doesn't, He trusts that we will make the right decision and it is time to take positive action.
Anyway, that's a lot but I do care and will always have you in prayer.
    I'll leave you with this...
Like the old priest off of the movie, The Count of Monte Cristo," once said (paraphrased): "You may not believe in God, but it doesn't matter... Because He believes in you."

in watching this video I just realized that I am going through an episode. I have recently had a dietary change that i am realizing has been the reason. I am buying much less of the foods that I have been eating to manage my schizoaffective disorder (as an alternative treatment plan). I was getting $300/ month in foods stamps. however, I started working to help me buy some things that I wanted for changes in my lifestyle. I am making a significant amount of money and I'm only getting $20/month in food stamps. I planned this beforehand, I was set on spending about $100/month for a temporary period of time. working has also given me a way to interact with people on a regular basis. it was quite nice actually, but some days I don't want to work and interact with people because of Guilt and Fear Related to Sexual Orientation. I usually have the attitude to focus on self respect towards my feelings. 2 weeks feel like a very long time. usually my motivation to make money (to fuel my desired lifestyle change) fills me with enthusiastic energy, which is much nicer to interact with people that way. this has been off an on, i have been thinking about therapy but I also have 2nd thoughts about it and fear it to some degree. however, I have learned a little bit more about treatment, and the stuff i learn helps me think differently, it makes me feel better, I feel like I'm accepted by society.

Great that you like outdoor activities. But i know it can be hard to go out sometimes with all those positive symptoms and negative symptoms. I've followed your channel for a long time now and have a similar story as yours with a certian someone, infatuation, erotomanic delusions so when you said it was worst since you episode in college I knew it's bad. Just eat well Kit. And don't get hurt. I got apathetic to myself when i in my worse bits of depression/psychosis.

I'm on antidepressants (Desvenlafaxine for depression and Clomipramine for OCD and tics) and Lithium, but my depression isn't getting better and the antidepressants are triggering hypomania. The thing is, I'm pretty sure I have cyclothymia (I'll talk with my psychiatrist about that), so both my depressive episode as well as my hypomanic episodes are really short. Hell, sometimes I switch from severely depressive to hypomanic in a matter of hours. Anyways, I really hope you get better. I really do! Xoxo. :)

You have a super well informed neurologist (well i suppose it is a neurologist). Just take time with yourself ikikr but in my experience if you're not on episodes than it's kind of a dull numbing experience so you're brain kind of sets out to search for the extra dosis of neurotransmitters and here we go again it's episode time even with the slightest of 'extra' stress... sorry for my bad writing as english is my second/third language.

Hi Kit... I guess you know you should have blood tests to make sure the Lithium levels aren't toxic? My ADs don't send me into mania because of mood stabilizers. It's a shame if you if your AD still makes you manic when you're on lithium. Maybe add (or ask about) Latuda... Seroquel is controversial but I think it works well as an anti-manic. But it's very sedating. When I'm bad I just spend a day on You Tube.... it's a good time waster. Even when I'm good I'll have a short jag where I see spiders... but they're not real. It sounds trite but .... This too shall pass. Hang in there. The fact that you can still post and upload a video impresses the hell out of me. Hang in there. Michael.

I haven't gotten a DNA test to verify if i have this Mutation or not. but it does effect a large size of the population. I don't take it anymore, however, for the past several years i have made it one of my priorities to eat more Leafy Green Veggies which are high in Folate (which is better absorbed than folic acid.) also, Nutrient absorption of unfamiliar foods tends to improve over time.

I take sublingual B12 in morning 3-4 under the tongue seems to lift me enough to get going. Ask him about Betaine as well. One supplement might not be enough and who knows what one’s right for you. Good luck hope for wonderful days ahead for you soon. 😊👍 instead of the 👎days.

Awwwww. I am sorry that you are going through this. You just have to grind it out until better days come along.
They will. God Loves you. Actually He Loves you with an astonishing Love, a Love that's beyond your wildest imagining.
There are MANY MANY near death experience stories (some found here on YT) that describe God's Love in those terms.
People get in plane crashes and bad car crashes or things like that and they "die" and leave their bodies and then go on to experience amazing things but "it's not their time" so they get sent back to their bodies and tell their stories. One guy got into a horrible car crash and while in the hospital they pronounced him dead. He died. He said he left his body and found himself "in the Arms of Jesus" in Paradise. He asked Jesus if he could go back to earth and Jesus said to him "If you want to."
Well what the man went on to say is..................................... "He is the kindest, most Beautiful, most Loving, the most amazing human being anywhere in a Billion Universes."
Sometimes when I get into a jam or an unhappy place I just sort of mentally let go of all the world (tune it out) and turn my attention to Jesus (as described in that scene) and just look His way and talk to Him (prayer) for an e x t e n d e d period of time. More of GOD is the great need. God is Love. (1 John 4:8)
    *At last.*
The day dawns clear and the sun
    shines bright
    Erasing every trace of night;
It's happened time and time again
and that's the way it's always been.
So though the darkness seems to last
Soon you will say, "This, too, has passed!"
Have faith in Him who holds earth plans
within His wise and Loving Hands.
    Lean patiently upon His breast
and He will give you peace and Rest.

I love this message and the poem you have shared... It is well written. God is mindful of us and His mind if full of all the wonderful things He wants to bless us with and is going to bless us with.
"This is what it is like to experience life." -From another TH-camr
I'm so grateful for a loving God that does hear our prayers and that has given me the opportunity to experience this life.

    • @212days
      @212days ปีที่แล้ว

@@bradleycopeland7299 Well thank you for your comment. Amen to what you said. God is Loving, HE WANTS us to talk to Him often, and He has Wonderful things that he wants to bless us (and this girl too) with. You won't get any arguments from me about that. "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you..." (James 4:8) God is Love (1 John 4:8) ALL LOVE. *"Draw near to Love and Love will draw near to you..."*
My heart goes out to this girl after watching this video and reading what she wrote under it. I wish I had the ability to send a rainbow laser fusion beam straight into her heart to make her know that GOD is the answer to her dilemma. That's out of my pay zone to be able to do that of course. He created us with free will. We can choose to fly to God or run from Him. Our natural human wills have a tendency and inclination to want to choose the latter.
*LOVE* is the master key that opens the gates of Happiness.
Love itself is Happiness. There is no happiness but Love.
_The more you Love the happier you are._
THE LORD is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and *RICH IN LOVE.*
      (Psalm 148:5)
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined what God
has prepared for those who love Him.”
