Now this is content that the community needs. Also anyone notice how strong Mr.Yoshida's wife is lol. That tiny lady was just hauling stuff off like it was nothing lol.

The fact that they stripped a completed care down to a bare shell in LESS THAN A NORMAL WORKING DAY is insane! The attention to detail, workflow, and trust in each other to know what they need is impressive to say the least

@negativeindustrial Toyota's truck frames on the other hand... It goes back to Larry's point. Every OEM either didn't have the foresight or cut cost somewhere that has to be repaired as the car ages.
I had a 98 Mitsubishi eclipse GSX that had both rusted out and, I had a shop replace them, sucks cause thats a known issue with those cars alot of them got parted out because of it

SO many things to say about this video! First off, R-34. What more needs to be said? Congrats on getting one, Larry! But this process and getting to see a master at work. This is where my brain just melts with happiness. Not many will have a craft that they are so adept at in life. This is a perfect example of someone that has one! His Wife helping the way she does is just amazing. What a great example of a marriage and being able to work together as well. Much respect to their teamwork! Wow. What an absolute master and professional at his craft. I’ve been a mechanic 25 years and I’m fairly widely respected and I pride myself on doing every little detail to picture perfect factory repairs, where if it goes right and it should, it’s difficult to tell you even worked on the vehicle, spent first 13 years after market general tech, did almost everything except transmissions, then, moved on to the GM dealership for 11-1/2 and absolutely prided myself in tacking every training I could, that’d even kinda widen my abilities, and being as accurate and professional as possible, but, these two couple is beyond comprehension, this just can’t be done. Not two people, not never, this gentleman is the absolute most impressive not even a technician, and master because he take such supreme respect for the craft it’s mind blowing. Well done doesn’t do it justice. From what i can seen.

I loved being involved restoration projects at an old job I had (wristwatch related not cars lol) and I love cars so Ill be watching this series intently!

My thoughts exactly. Any chop shop can disassemble a car in less than 8 hours, but they're more akin to butchers, rather than artisans, like these people.
It took me and and my Dad 8 hours to get the Nismo seat covers installed on my R33 GT-R. This is just absolutely amazing to watch and see how dedicated Garage Yoshida is for these cars. Thank you so much for what you do❤❤

10 minutes into the vid and I sincerely appreciate the focus and efficiency he and his wife have when it gets to this project. His experience shows when he operates without a proper checklist on what/when items come out. And the fact that they handle parts gently shows their level of care.
Not to me since it was a sub $50k car brand new, It's wasn't top of the line nor revolutionary&insanely well built even at the time, just a 'Good' level car.
The attention to detail is absolutely incomprehensible. I have OCD but Yoshida-san redefines the word “perfection” to a whole new dimension. This is Japanese craftsmanship at its finest.
This is one of the better (and far more interesting) videos you have ever done, Larry. Far more inspiring, exciting and informative like the workshop tours. The car owner interviews where you don't get to see much of the car get a bit meandering. I am very happy your car turned out to be as clean an example as you hoped and I am very glad to see it will be made a pristine forever car.
Larry and Hagerty are killing it with all these fascinating segments! 👍 So Nissan really cheaped out on the most important end of the car. Not just the shock towers and side aprons but the whole front end has rust issues. I guess the extra $10 per car for more sealer didn't get past the bean counters. 😂 Yoshida-san and his wife are true masters of their craft...it's not humanly possible to do a better job than them. Their speed and orchestration are of course impressive but I was more amazed at how clean Yoshida-San stayed throughout the teardown! 😆 It's so cool to see Yoshida-San using a Celette bench, which shows his commitment to doing repairs to the highest standard. I did that work for many years...I couldn't forget about MZ 601/602, 260, 200, 140 and 80 if I tried. Lol
Respect for the specialization of Mr. Yoshida and his wife. So great to see how they restore this tycoon on the road with so much dedication and discipline. Enjoyment at its best. Great broadcast. Thank you!

My god his wife knows him well, she knows by his body movements when hes ready to hand off a part or needs her to grab the tool because he needs both hands, she is instrumental in the speed and so necessary for the organization, when your in rip mode like him you would just throw the parts anywhere, it takes her coming in with a clear and separate mind to organize, insane partnership and thats their secret
I swear I love seeing this. I love to think I’m half way like he is with gtr with 92-95 civics. I can tear one apart in a day and build it back with my eye closed. It’s awesome dedicating your time and making it a passion for one car.
Mr Yoshida is THE great gtr technician in the world. Literally no one better. Him and his wife really are the absolute pinnacle of skyline technicians. I try to get 8hrs a day most days. Of course jet lag doesn't help 😂. I've been taking quite a bit of time off to focus on my own driving as well. I post most of that stuff on my TH-cam and social.
Great series. Please keep us updated on the restoration. I also found it interesting that people get offended or upset when people discuss the flaws in their favorite cars. I’m still not sure why that’s a problem-knowing what’s wrong means problems can be addressed with new parts or solutions.
@@anydaynow01 He paid 76k for something that he didn't need. The frame was straight, the rust was only surface rust. Could have just do a engine rebuild and be done with it
30:38 To be fair, a TON of cars, and quite a few of them Japanese, also have issues with shock towers rusting out. Subaru is particularly known for this in my area, Salt belt woes. Plenty of pictures online of a shock playing peek a boo through the hatch of a subaru.
So are people having an issue with this being revealed because it's potentially going to affect the values of the R34 or what? I mean you'd think bringing a hidden problem like this to light to help people do something to prevent a potential catastrophic failure would be a good thing, but I guess I'm being naive.
Yeah, that's about right, and probably not a bad price considering the level of expertise on display here. Think how long it would take a shop that doesn't have this kind of specialization to do something similar (probably a year long project).
Yeah I thought 80k USD was pretty cheap for this level of restoration. You’d probably gain close to that in the value of the car just having this done, if not more. This level of expertise is absolutely insane.
Damn that blue hits different. I absolutely love it. Also when it comes to rust, its clear that there is a big lack of rust deterent. I use Mike Sanders or Fluidfilm for cravices and i literally get 0 rust even in Germany with all its salt on the roads. I love the dedication to this craftsmanship.

Truly a master, so efficient and meticulous. Stripped the car down to bare metal and pulled the engine in 2 hours and 40 minutes. I wish there was someone like this for 3000gt.
Not so long ago, Hagerty would simply not insure ANY riceburner. No matter how old, classic, valuable, and coveted it might be. So seeing a Hagerty video on a GT-R is a huge laugh to me.

@@RotaryJunkie they are very difficult for sure, especially the 3000GT. I suppose people think of the 300ZXTT less often ever since video games made Americans of the greatest Nissan of the 1990s. The 3000GT might also have been thought of as a bloated nightmare, if people weren't thinking of Mitsubishi Evos instead. Well, at least the 2G Eclipse could be freely joked about. It made me wonder if the Evo 4, 5, or 6 got crankwalk.

9:00 I’m a 44 yo French with hugely dense automotive career. I want to say, what we’re watching here, is ONLY POSSIBLE WITH JAPANESE CARS. They are the best designed cars on worldwide market for after service. Thanks to the Japanese culture who thinks and RESPECTS all the aspects of the life of a car. Japanese cars are a dream for a mechanic. More than that, this tandem Mr. YOSHIDA and his wife are one of the best example possible to see of how a mechanic should work. I’m very very impressed… He can be the best of himself thanks to his wife amazing incredible support. This is more than a car story, this is a life lesson. Chapeau bas, c’est magnifique.

Strut top rust is the bane of all 90s/early 2000s Nissans
Which is wild because none of my Toyotas have this issue even after 35 years. The only rust is on the turbine housings and downpipes.
I had a 1996 100NX where the rear strut tower disintegrated into nothing.

So Nissan really cheaped out on the most important end of the car. Not just the shock towers and side aprons but the whole front end has rust issues. I guess the extra $10 per car for more sealer didn't get past the bean counters. 😂
Yoshida-san and his wife are true masters of their craft...it's not humanly possible to do a better job than them. Their speed and orchestration are of course impressive but I was more amazed at how clean Yoshida-San stayed throughout the teardown! 😆
It's so cool to see Yoshida-San using a Celette bench, which shows his commitment to doing repairs to the highest standard. I did that work for many years...I couldn't forget about MZ 601/602, 260, 200, 140 and 80 if I tried. Lol
Respect for the specialization of Mr. Yoshida and his wife. So great to see how they restore this tycoon on the road with so much dedication and discipline. Enjoyment at its best. Great broadcast. Thank you!

Awesome to see this series of the restoration process. Can tell this guy is constantly tweaking and refining his process to get the absolute best result for his customers.
My god his wife knows him well, she knows by his body movements when hes ready to hand off a part or needs her to grab the tool because he needs both hands, she is instrumental in the speed and so necessary for the organization, when your in rip mode like him you would just throw the parts anywhere, it takes her coming in with a clear and separate mind to organize, insane partnership and thats their secret
also his wife is insanely strong, grabbed that seat like it was a loaf of bread
I swear I love seeing this. I love to think I’m half way like he is with gtr with 92-95 civics. I can tear one apart in a day and build it back with my eye closed. It’s awesome dedicating your time and making it a passion for one car.

I try to get 8hrs a day most days. Of course jet lag doesn't help 😂.
I've been taking quite a bit of time off to focus on my own driving as well. I post most of that stuff on my TH-cam and social.

Great series. Please keep us updated on the restoration. I also found it interesting that people get offended or upset when people discuss the flaws in their favorite cars. I’m still not sure why that’s a problem-knowing what’s wrong means problems can be addressed with new parts or solutions.

30:38 To be fair, a TON of cars, and quite a few of them Japanese, also have issues with shock towers rusting out. Subaru is particularly known for this in my area, Salt belt woes. Plenty of pictures online of a shock playing peek a boo through the hatch of a subaru.
So are people having an issue with this being revealed because it's potentially going to affect the values of the R34 or what? I mean you'd think bringing a hidden problem like this to light to help people do something to prevent a potential catastrophic failure would be a good thing, but I guess I'm being naive.

Yeah, that's about right, and probably not a bad price considering the level of expertise on display here. Think how long it would take a shop that doesn't have this kind of specialization to do something similar (probably a year long project).

Damn that blue hits different. I absolutely love it. Also when it comes to rust, its clear that there is a big lack of rust deterent. I use Mike Sanders or Fluidfilm for cravices and i literally get 0 rust even in Germany with all its salt on the roads. I love the dedication to this craftsmanship.

This is Caviar-Level of automotive content. Absolutely magnificent. I was glued to the screen the entire time. Yoshida-san and his wife are exceptionally skilled people.
The 5mm off at that location mote than likely occurred from improper jacking.
Truly a master, so efficient and meticulous. Stripped the car down to bare metal and pulled the engine in 2 hours and 40 minutes. I wish there was someone like this for 3000gt.
Not so long ago, Hagerty would simply not insure ANY riceburner. No matter how old, classic, valuable, and coveted it might be.
So seeing a Hagerty video on a GT-R is a huge laugh to me.

I suppose people think of the 300ZXTT less often ever since video games made Americans of the greatest Nissan of the 1990s.
The 3000GT might also have been thought of as a bloated nightmare, if people weren't thinking of Mitsubishi Evos instead. Well, at least the 2G Eclipse could be freely joked about. It made me wonder if the Evo 4, 5, or 6 got crankwalk.
