  • What exactly is the Rotring Core fountain pen? Is it for kids? Science fiction fans? Whatever it is, it's a unique pen that works surprisingly well.

      There is a great charm about them. A fun pen that does it's job well.

    The Rotring Core was my first fountain pen. I bought it in Medellin Colombia in the late 90s early 2000s. I didn’t know much about maintenance then and while I still have it, it no longer works. Thanks for sharing this video.

      It's an interesting pen. Have you tried to repair it?

      Did you flush with a converter?

    I've had a rOtring Core since they first debutted. It is one of my most reliable, durable, and excellent writing pens. No reviews I've read, though, seem to understand the "force resource" innovation in the ink feed. What's rather remarkable about the cartridge feed is that should the cartridge be getting near empty, if you twist the body of the pen in the manner described, those two orange clips compress, and create sufficient pressure to essentially squeeze the cartridge, and feed the last bits of ink up into the nib! "Turn this way//Write on system"! Indeed, if you twist open the pen without removing the body, then twist it counter clock wise, it allows you to "write on" by forcing the last of the ink into the nib feed.
    And it actually works!

      Thanks for this information. I didn't know this, and it seems like a good idea.

    As far as I can see, it’s not available new anymore. Ebay time, unless I’m mistaken! It’s a pity because it is a really cool pen. Wonder if rOtring would be willing to re-issue it?? I think people would snatch them up. I know I would want to add one to my growing collection. Consider yourself lucky that you have one! Jealousy has inhabited my head at the moment!! 💚

      I don't think it's available anymore which is a shame because it's a nice writer and a fun pen.

    It's funny, I just dug mine out the other day, which I bought in 2002 in Poland. I am loving using it again.

      It's a fun pen and I was surprised by how well it wrote. It was also comfortable to hold. They seem to have become collectable.

    Thank you. I like this pen and I bought two of them from eBay and I wanted to see a review of them before I start writing, so your review was very useful. One of my pens has XS nib.

    What a chonker of a pen. I wonder if it could be extended for lightsaber fight XD

      I actually think it was intentional that it looked like a weapon from Star Wars!

    Rotring made a number of odd fountain pens, and some classics. Engineers love the 600.
    Check out the Skynn and the Rive for a couple more weird pens.

    I got one of these when I was an undergrad in 2001 or 02. I never really liked it much. It's supposed to have a broad nib (XL) but was never as juicy as my Safari. It was about $25 shipped back in those days, and came with a converter.

    • @PEIPenGuy
      @PEIPenGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are an interesting pen and have become collectible and a bit more than $25 these days.

    The oversized feeder fins are obviously ment to add a cooling function to the nib

    I wonder about the lowered grip section. It radically changes the relationship between your fingers and the tip of the nib. Does this change the behavior, the results, or the experience at all? Or is it just intentional quirkiness?

    • @PEIPenGuy
      @PEIPenGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a very quirky pen and seems to have a sci fi quality to it. Almost like it was inspired by Star Wars! The grip section is odd and I personally found it comfortable.

      It is the most unusual pen I've reviewed. A good writer though, and it seems to have become collectible.
